Hey me...the comment Michelle made wasn't in her speech....

Posted By: sam on 2008-08-27
In Reply to: Hey sam - its me - I agree with you - me

sorry, I should have clarified that. She was on a campaign-type event...I saw this on TV. She was sitting around this table with looked like 3 or 4 ladies and it actually just looked kind of like chatting. There was a cameraperson there because it was a campaign thing. Anyway...I don't know what led up to Michelle's comment but they have it on tape where she said Barack got upset because of the $10,000 bill and she said she told him "You know how much camp costs?" Don't get me wrong, I don't think she was putting on airs like 'I'm so rich I send my kids to $10,000 camps.' That's not what I meant. She wasn't thinking about how it would sound to the people she was with, because that is her life now. She sends her kids to $10,000 camps.

That being said, I don't begrudge them their money. They both worked their way up from being average income to among the higer incomes in the country through education and hard work. The great American dream, and I certainly have NO problem with that.

I will give bill a listen tonight. I expect him to endorse Obama, but you never can tell what the man might say. Google what he said this week about "You have candidate X, who you agree with on everything, but you don't think he can deliver; then you have candidate Y, who you agree with on half of the things, but you think he CAN deliver...that is a choice some people will have." And then he added, "but that has nothing to do with this election." Yeah right. LOL. I don't think it was a mistake, I think he meant exactly what he said. lol.

Kaydie's Michelle Obama comment
I am still waiting for your answer.  When you claimed you weren't a racist, yet in your next paragraph you said "Michelle Obama does not talk like a black woman," what do black women talk like?
Skipped the speech? Turns out O took Michelle out
How much hot water would your husband be in if he tried to pass off attending W's farewell drivel as a birthday celebration? My question is aren't these folks entitled to have a private moment once in a while WITHOUT having their feet held to the fire?
And Michelle Obama has made it clear

that her children come first.  From what I've personally seen, I can't imagine those parents allowing ANYTHING or ANYONE to harm their children and that all they want for their children are bright, healthy, prosperous futures -- just like all American parents do.

Yet, some people on this board even want to suggest that getting these girls a PUPPY is something evil with questionable motive.  It's just unbelievable!

Now you just made a beauty queen out of Michelle,
Why?
Isn't that unrealistic?

Inner beauty can also fade, nothing is forever.
Yes, his speech was awesome, wasn't it?

I have never made a racist comment
are you serious?
You have to know the context that he made that comment. sm
He's saying that if Obama is going to make this a socialist country, he hopes Obama fails because that's not what's best for America. Rush was on Hannity last night and I know most of you don't like Fox News, but to get the whole story on this, tune in for the second half of the interview tonight, 9 o'clock.

At least the person making the comment actually knows what the problem is in this country.......the illegals and all the wonderful freebies they take at our expense but having no business getting them in the first place, while legal citizens do without.......... I see this with my transcription ALL the time.

"I work for a doctor's office: majority of Medi-Cal patients are non-english or limited english speakers, so I can assume they haven't been here long -- - lots of Medi Cal patients seem from India & Iran & Mexico. We have kids who have Healthy Families plan -- most those kids translate for us to their parents who are from Mexico or Russia -- & invariably, they've got 4 siblings crowded around. Daily we get several hard-luck calls from people (who have no accent at all) who don't have insurance & need to be seen but can't afford to pay . . . I don't understand how you can be new to the state or country & receive all those fabulous benefits, even though you haven't contributed taxes or usefulness to the state . . The 'big guys' working for the state still get their bonuses . While State of California workers get $75 toward a new frame and basic lenses with a big co-pay, State Assembly & Legislature can choose up to a $400 frame, with no copay. NOT FAIR!"

Maybe he should have made his speech in the 50s then.
His hate speech is not in line with today's reality. In most major cities, and for most young people, the black culture is the dominant culture. Fashion, music, media, sports - look at today's icons.

His speech was racist and makes me sick, because it is only going to spawn - guess what - MORE racism. If this is how the Obama presidency is going to be run, I predict the ranks of the KKK will be full to bursting by the time his first term is over.
If I remeber rightly that was a comment made by...sm
a media person not president Obama.
I hope that comment made you real proud. nm
nm
Yes, that speech made Obama look like a robot.
nm
Beautiful speech made a long time ago

No, this isn't a Ron Paul speech but he brought this speech to the attention of Congress, trying to make a point to their greedy sorry behinds.  Just take the time to read it..... it is still true today.

Who died and made you the "free speech" police? sm
Who cares what you think of Sam's posts. You are free to read or not read. That is what debate is all about. And I use that term loosely in regards to some of posters on this board. Most of the posters have legitimate points of view. If you are that upset over what she posts, then feel free to disregard what she puts. You should be able to figure out what the message is about by reading what is under the thread and not having to open the thread.

If you don't agree with our consitutional right to freedom of speech, then you need to rethink your priorities. Nobody will ever agree with anybody else 100% on this board and in real life, and I wouldn't expect them to. That is what makes our world go around.

Don't like the posts?? Don't read or go to another board. I agree with Sam.
The post about oatmeal wasn't made by MM. sm
It was made by Allahpundit on Hot Air, which is a website MM started.

McCain wasn't desperate and wasn't behind in the polls
In fact, they have been neck and and neck, and McCain has been gaining in the polls while Obama has been slipping. McCain could have taken the easy way and kept the stable course and picked safer, sure. Instead, he picked a maverick leader like himself, who isn't afraid to get in there and make changes even if it goes against their own party. I believe he wanted to say that the Republicans are the party for change, and wanted to make a bold statement. I've seen statements at "other sites" as well where people are absolutely joyous at this pick.
Comment on Bush comment

I heard Bush this morning saying that no one predicted or knew that the New Orleans levees would give way.  Well, that is not true.  This was widely predicted by engineers and meteologists.  The engineers predicted it for years if/when a major hurricaine hit, as well as engineers and meteorologists predicting this 1-2 days before Katrina.  I even told my boyfriend last Sunday night that they were predicting some levees would break, that New Orleans would be in water the same depth as Lake Pontchartrain and that thousands could die.  Gee, guess I should be a White House advisor.

My other gripe is that this federal response seems a bit slow.  Like maybe Monday afternoon things should have been put into motion instead of......Thursday?  But then, I'm sure not an expert.

too ignorant a comment to comment on...nm
nm
How about Michelle!!
She was great last night at the convention!!  I will be tuning in for the remainder of the convention.  I am so excited about this race!!  It is time for change!!
Michelle
Not only do I believe Michelle is racist but I believe her husband is as well. If you listen to him it's there even if you have to read between the lines.  My personal feeling is that it would be easier to deal with that than with McCain/Palin.  I will be the first to admit that I may be making a mistake because I do not want to see either of them in office.  Unfortunately, the Republicans on here will not even debate the issues they are so dead set for McCain/Palin.  The fact that some may say she is lacking in experience, which she is, doesn't bother me.  We might even be  better off with an outsider who had no political experience whatsoever but a large dose of common sense which Washington seems to be extremely short on..  Experience is not my problem with Palin.  She comes across to me as a simpering airhead.   What kind of common sense did McCain show when he picked her after having only met her one time and talked to her on the phone once.  Because he thought she would attract Hillary's woman voters.  Looks like he may have been right too.
And so he should....and Michelle should...
remiburse the tax coffers for her little private C130 ride from Paris to London for shopping. Won't hold my breath waiting on that check. It is somehow worse that he was using to meet his mistress than she was using it to go shopping?? BOTH WRONG.
Cindy is 54; Michelle is 44

here's what Michelle Obama says about the WHOLE PIE - please sm
This is what Michelle Obama had to say about the 'redistribution of wealth' (in keeping with the Global Poverty Act):

"The truth is most Americans don't want much. Folks don't want the whole pie. Most Americans feel blessed to thrive a little bit, but that's out of reach for them. The truth is, in order to get things like unviersal health care and a revamped education system, then SOMEONE IS GOING TO HAVE TO GIVE UP A PIECE OF THEIR PIE SO THAT SOMEONE ELSE CAN HAVE MORE."

And to accomplish this, she says:

"Barack Obama will require you to work. He is gong to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your division, that you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones, that you push yourselves to be better, and that you engage. BARACK WILL NEVER ALLOW YOU TO GO BACK AND LIVE YOUR LIVES AS USUAL, uninvolved, uniformed."

I'm sorry, but that thinking is more in line with the totalitarian governments of China, North Korea and Cuba. Last I looked, I was still living in America. I have the Constitutional right to succeed or fail according to my own abilities, and I staunchly support everyone else's right to do the same. (You know, that little something called 'the pursuit of happiness?)

But I don't want big government deciding I have 'enough' and handing it off to someone in another country who may not have their 'fair share.' I already pay taxes, tithe 10% to charities, volunteer at my local food bank, and shovel the sidewalk of the elderly couple next door. I think most Americans are doing this kind of stuff day in and day. Because WE CARE about one another.

If more of my money is being shipped overseas, how am I to help my own next door neighbor?

Michelle Obama

When you said that Michelle Obama "doesn't talk like a black woman," - how exactly do black women talk?  When you said that, it is so clear that you are racist.  I am sure you will have one heck of an explanation about what you meant, but I would rather hear how you think black women talk.

I really hope that Michelle will put on at her
next appearance 'some sleeves' at least, or maybe a jacket.
This dress is not only sleeveless, it is less than sleeveless.
Are all the events she attends sleeveless 'informal'?
GEESH, What is next? Michelle
Already has to show off her arms.
maybe this was what he promised Michelle
when he becomes president: A trip to New York and for the girls a doggie.
I see Michelle Obama
as an arrogant bitter black woman with a chip on her shoulder.  There is no beauty that I see.  Her kids are cute though.
Oh, yes. Absolutely. Both BO and Michelle

Who cares what Michelle Obama wants....
She was not even proud to be American majority of her life.

I think Obama and Michelle are racist!
.
I think Michelle/Obama are racist

And the McCain/Palin ticket have not/still continue to show racism?? The bottom line of all of the nasty hateful comments that I have seen on this board is that if  Barack Obama did not run for the President of this country, the majority of you whould't give a flying bobcat WHO he is. The number of hateful, bigoted, mean nasty comments I have seen on this board are more than enough to know that in 2008, hate, bigotry and racism have never died; it is displayed in subtle insidious ways - to any of those who care, it has been ONLY a little over TEN years since a black man was tied to the back of a pick up truck in Texas and dragged around so much he was dismembered..it is situations such as those which break my heart - a human being.  I will never understand it; and in this election the racism is extremely blatant. Not to mention the blatantly racist exhibition two white men decided to make money from - check You Tube under "Obama waffles" - look at how he is caricatured and then ask yourself WHAT is racist...

same here....I wonder what Michelle Obama thinks
she knows Biden does not care for her husband and has actually said he is not the man for the job of President. Boy, that must be a tense/false/forced smile when they get together.
Michelle Obama said don't believe the polls.
She said its too close to call right now.

Also there are over 11% who are still undecided.
What did you think about Michelle Obama's dress?
Just wondering
Actually, he and Michelle DID make these decisions.
This was made very clear with respect to the previous "giftgate" situation. You have to understand that Michelle Obama, in particular, is an angry woman who hates Great Britain for it's ancient role in the slave trade a few hundred years ago.
Michelle Malkin is great! You just cant

Hmmm...Michelle Malkin...(sm)

You may as well have posted something from Limbone.  What a joke.

Oh, btw, what's your solution to the healthcare problem?

Not laughing. I like Michelle Malkin.

I read somewhere Michelle Malkin is depressed about this.sm
She is worried Willis' brain has turned into oatmeal. Funny, Willis was or is a conservative but since the article claims he's not in complete goose-step with the Bush administration he's a loony liberal.

According to an article by G. Greenwald:

It used to be the case that in order to be considered a liberal or someone of the Left, one had to actually ascribe to liberal views on the important policy issues of the day...Now, in order to be considered a liberal, only one thing is required – a failure to pledge blind loyalty to George W. Bush. The minute one criticizes him is the minute that one becomes a liberal, regardless of the ground on which the criticism is based. And the more one criticizes him, by definition, the more liberal one is. Whether one is a liberal -- or, for that matter, a conservative -- is now no longer a function of one’s actual political views, but is a function purely of one’s personal loyalty to George Bush.

Ain't that the truth.

Michelle's Boot Camp for Radicals

Michelle's Boot Camps For Radicals

By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Thursday, September 04, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Election ང: Democrats' reintroduction of militant Michelle Obama in Denver was supposed to show her softer side. But it only highlighted a radical part of her resume: Public Allies.

IBD Series: The Audacity Of Socialism

Barack Obama was a founding member of the board of Public Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife became executive director of the Chicago chapter of Public Allies in 1993. Obama plans to use the nonprofit group, which he features on his campaign Web site, as the model for a national service corps. He calls his Orwellian program, "Universal Voluntary Public Service."

Big Brother had nothing on the Obamas. They plan to herd American youth into government-funded reeducation camps where they'll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of "social change."

The pitch Public Allies makes on its Web site doesn't seem all that radical. It promises to place young adults (18-30) in paid one-year "community leadership" positions with nonprofit or government agencies. They'll also be required to attend weekly training workshops and three retreats.

In exchange, they'll get a monthly stipend of up to $1,800, plus paid health and child care. They also get a post-service education award of $4,725 that can be used to pay off past student loans or fund future education.

But its real mission is to radicalize American youth and use them to bring about "social change" through threats, pressure, tension and confrontation — the tactics used by the father of community organizing, Saul "The Red" Alinsky.

"Our alumni are more than twice as likely as 18-34 year olds to . . . engage in protest activities," Public Allies boasts in a document found with its tax filings. It has already deployed an army of 2,200 community organizers like Obama to agitate for "justice" and "equality" in his hometown of Chicago and other U.S. cities, including Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Washington. "I get to practice being an activist," and get paid for it, gushed Cincinnati recruit Amy Vincent.

Public Allies promotes "diversity and inclusion," a program paper says. More than 70% of its recruits are "people of color." When they're not protesting, they're staffing AIDS clinics, handing out condoms, bailing criminals out of jail and helping illegal aliens and the homeless obtain food stamps and other welfare.

Public Allies brags that more than 80% of graduates have continued working in nonprofit or government jobs. It's training the "next generation of nonprofit leaders" — future "social entrepreneurs."

The Obamas discourage work in the private sector. "Don't go into corporate America," Michelle has exhorted youth. "Work for the community. Be social workers." Shun the "money culture," Barack added. "Individual salvation depends on collective salvation."

"If you commit to serving your community," he pledged in his Denver acceptance speech, "we will make sure you can afford a college education." So, go through government to go to college, and then go back into government.

Many of today's youth find the pitch attractive. "I may spend the rest of my life trying to create social movement," said Brian Coovert of the Cincinnati chapter. "There is always going to be work to do. Until we have a perfect country, I'll have a job."

Not all the recruits appreciate the PC indoctrination. "It was too touchy-feely," said Nelly Nieblas, 29, of the 2005 Los Angeles class. "It's a lot of talk about race, a lot of talk about sexism, a lot of talk about homophobia, talk about -isms and phobias."

One of those -isms is "heterosexism," which a Public Allies training seminar in Chicago describes as a negative byproduct of "capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege."

The government now funds about half of Public Allies' expenses through Clinton's AmeriCorps. Obama wants to fully fund it and expand it into a national program that some see costing $500 billion. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the military, he said.

The gall of it: The Obamas want to create a boot camp for radicals who hate the military — and stick American taxpayers with the bill.

Has anyone heard about Michelle's college thesis?
I got an email yesterday talking about Michelle Obama's college thesis.  I actually read most of her thesis.  I had to click on a couple of links to see the actual copy of the thesis, but I just wondered if anyone else had read this, heard about it, and what they thought on the subject.  I know it was stated that Princeton was not to release her thesis until after the election.  Not sure who requested that or why, but after reading it I would assume it was her husband's campaign that requested it not be brought out before election and I could see why.  I was a little unnerved by her thesis.  Just curious what others thought.
LIke Palin supports said about Michelle last summer?

Even Michelle Malkin does not believe this story is true!
I hate to say "I told you so," but...

http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/23/why-that-mccain-volunteers-mutilation-story-smells-awfully-weird
Michelle is a nice, educated person, BUT
I would not call her beautiful. Come on! What is beautiful on her? And regarding her 'own' style?
Sure, everybody has his/her own style.
I just want to say thta it ticks me off when Michelle is called
beautiful, gorgeous etc....

This is a board and everybody, inclusive me, can give one's opinion in a decent way.

You have no right to tell me to shut up just because you disagree with me.

I could tell you the same, especially if you are not truthful. Stop putting incorrect comments on the board. We are also not interested 'how you see Michelle, but how she really looks..
Michelle Bachmann blaming Obama
//
Well...Michelle Obama works full time now...
as does her husband, and their children look beautiful, healthy and well adjusted.

Actually, I believe just the opposite. I believe being governor, actually running a state, is much more of a day-to-day demanding position. Still, she is home most every night. As VP, she will be home most every night. Michelle Obama works full time too, but she is home most every night. As First Lady, Michelle will be required to travel as well...Laura Bush has traveled quite a bit as first lady.

I believe Sarah Palin can handle it and not deprive her children. I also believe that Michelle Obama could handle it just fine and not deprive her chldren. They are both strong women who have a wonderful support system and love their husbands and families...which I don't think precludes them having a career...either as and administrator like michelle obama, or as first lady; and Sarah Palin as governor or VP.

And I think a majority of women in the country would agree with that as well.
