Huckabee's phone call from God. sm

Anyone else see this? Funny at first, but gave me the creeps by the end of it. I am surprised some of these people have not been struck by lightning.

I don't think the phone call to CBS was a big deal....sm
This call has nothing to do with politics but more of a favor to a friend. He used his influence to help a friend out. Looks like CBS owed him the money anyway. Friends help each other out this way all the time, no harm done IMHO.

Travelgate is a different story. Firing the people for not reason to appoint friends is cronyism.
Annoying phone call
You have no idea what is about to happen to this country if you do indeed vote for Hussane Obama. He is a socialist, and worse than that. Bottom line, truth of the matter is he wants to turn this country to socialism. You did not have to answer your phone. You chose to answer your phone. If you picked up the phone and realized what the add was you just hang up. How difficult is that? On the other hand, if Hussane Obama's group would have been on the other line, you would have fallen all over yourself. Come November remember this one thing if you do not remember anything else, you chose to vote for a "known terrorist." I do not know what news you are "listening too." I personally do NOT watch mainline TV -- esp not Communist network (CNN) as they are very slanted and do not deliver the true matters of things. Just remember you were warned, and if you vote a known terrorist backer then when this country becomes socialistic....you are the one who helped put him in there. YOu should be thankful for what you have already, and thankful for that phone call.
NSA went to phone companies. Phone
companies told to route domestic calls outside U.S., and then reroute calls to the US, and then they spied on Americans' phone calls.  Oh yes, let's spread freedom all over the world, but where's ours?!

Wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross reminds of Huckabee. The fascist part, no.

Is that guy still hanging around?  He seems affable.  I like him. As far as the  vanilla statement . . . warning . .  warning ... this is a joke . . . sniffs of racism, if you ask me.
new phone books with

much larger print.

and who wants to tell a stranger on the phone
who they are voting for anyway?? I have had several calls and I do not tell anyone who i am voting for. This is still America, right? isn't my vote my business and no one else's??? That amazes me - that people will tell a perfect stranger who just happens to have their phone number who they will vote for.
You must not have heard the phone ad yet they are
Hang on to your hat. Thing is, the only phone call I got from the O camp was Michelle asking me if I would consider supporting her husband. When I told her yes, she said "that's great" and that was that. The incoming call was clearly identified, giving me the option to answer or not.

You will catch the gist of the new ad on this evening's news. I will be willing to bet my 401K those calls wil arrive under the caler-ID radar. The content is as I have described in the previous post and in my way of thinking, WAY, WAY over the top.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
Huckabee...? Nope....
from defintion of facism: Fascist movements usually try to retain some supposedly healthy parts of the nation's existing political and social life, but they place more emphasis on creating a new society. In this way fascism is directly opposed to conservatism—the idea that it is best to avoid dramatic social and political change. Instead, fascist movements set out to create a new type of total culture in which values, politics, art, social norms, and economic activity are all part of a single organic national community.

With all due respect, that sounds much more like where liberals are heading than where conservatives are heading...?
Huckabee comes to mind.LOL sm
A woman was interviewed in an exit poll and said she voted for McCain. When asked what attracted her to McCain, she said he was bringing the troops home. YIKES!!!! He just said he intended to stay in Iraq for 100 years. What is the matter with America. Are people really this dense.
hil's starting to look a lot like Huckabee
her best hope is to be Obama's VP at this point.  I think with that ticket they would be unstoppable
Huckabee spoke about this the other day
He said a very astute financial guy with decades of eperience had noticed a very unusual trend in the market last week; that every day at the same time late in the day, the market would begin selling off huge volumes, just in time where it could not rebound and then this would start again the next day, with no rebound gain. He questioned economic terrorism then.

And it did make us wonder then if this thing was being manipulated. When the government over the weekend began singing how they were going to put money in the banks that was a big sign for me that there may be something to the suspicions. This gave governments an exception to buy into banks, thereby starting the ball of socialism. Government should never ever be involved in banks like this.

I don't think for a moment this has anything to do with not paying China off because China has been hacking into the World Trade Bank in Europe for over a year.... a year! And their people can't keep them out. So, that tells me China has been involved in this manipulation for a long time. They managed to get very private financial documents with loan information and procurements on them that would allow them to really manipulation behind the scenes with all that information they have.

I don't doubt China has EVERYTHING to do with this. But if we keep buying more of their junk and refuse to buy anything but their junk, then we have no one to blame but ourselves. We should start demanding our government NOT import any more goods from China and that our companies going over there to save taxes be given tax exemptions ONLY if they bring all their business back to this country.

When I was growing up, my great aunts always said keep us out of the United Nations and don't do business with communist countries or we would regret it one day. They were right!
Huckabee is Wrong and Here's Why
Pat Robertson's American Center for Law and Justice started this nonsense, and it was then picked up by Fox News and the Christian Broadcasting Network.

However, the ACLJ got it totally wrong. The language in the provision blocks on-campus spending on buildings that are used PRIMARILY for religious purposes, like chapels, and this language has been a standard part of every education-spending bill for the last 46 YEARS. It's the law, and it's never been controversial.

Huckabee, the CBN, and Fox News are either too stupid to know how to read legislature or are deliberately making reckless accusations without knowing the facts.

I like the way Mike Huckabee said it
tonight, *as long as we are being kicked in the rear, we know we are still in the front.* I have had so many good laughs this week, has made me feel so good after recuperating from my hip replacement.

It has been so comical, since watching TV is about all I have been able to do, I had to watch CNN and MSNBC just for the laughs! It is so obvious that they are afraid of Fox News and their ratings. They have made such fools of themselves this week! They would have appeared much more professional if they had just handled the tea parties as any normal news coverage. In trying to make someone else look stoopid, they have only made themselves the stooges.

The prime example was the subject of your post. I don't know what kind of rock they found her under, but she needs to slither back under it and stay put (just a personal opinion). As for Olberman agreeing with her, he was just showing his usual stupidity! Disgusting hardly begins to describe this clip.

Anyone who tries to defend what this person(?) says surely has some serious issues that need addressing. And the DHS is worried about our returning veterans and anyone who is pro-life? They have us on a list of terrorist? The people who attacked the Twin Towers are no longer terrorists. But, these rednecks at the tea parties are potential terrorists.

Yes, truly disgusting.

Huckabee? Not presidential material

Here is Novak's recent article on him.  Creepy.  Reminds me a little of a wolf in sheep's clothing.  I think it is important to get the opinions of those people in the districts politicians serve.  Those opinions on Huckabee are not very good.

The False Conservative

by Robert Novak

Posted: 11/26/2007

Who would respond to criticism from the Club for Growth by calling the conservative, free-market campaign organization the "Club for Greed"? That sounds like Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich or John Edwards, all Democrats preaching the class struggle. In fact, the rejoinder comes from Mike Huckabee, who has broken out of the pack of second-tier Republican presidential candidates to become a serious contender -- definitely in Iowa and perhaps nationally.

Huckabee is campaigning as a conservative, but serious Republicans know that he is a high-tax, protectionist, big-government advocate of a strong hand in the Oval Office directing the lives of Americans. Until now, they did not bother to expose the former governor of Arkansas as a false conservative because he seemed an underfunded, unknown nuisance candidate. Now that he has pulled even with Mitt Romney for the Iowa caucuses with the possibility of more progress, the beleaguered Republican Party has a frightening problem on its hands.

The rise of evangelical Christians as the motive force that blasted the GOP out of minority status during the past generation always contained an inherent danger if these new Republican acolytes supported not merely a conventional conservative but one of their own. That has happened now with Huckabee, a former Baptist minister educated at Ouachita Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The danger is a serious contender for the nomination who passes the litmus test of social conservatives on abortion, gay marriage and gun control but is far removed from the conservative-libertarian model of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

There is no doubt about Huckabee's record during a decade in Little Rock as governor. He was regarded by fellow Republican governors as a compulsive tax increaser and spender. He increased the Arkansas tax burden by 47 percent, boosting the levies on gasoline and cigarettes. When he decided to lose 100 pounds and pressed his new lifestyle on the American people, he was far from a Goldwater-Reagan libertarian.

As a presidential candidate, Huckabee has sought to counteract his reputation as a taxer by pressing for replacement of the income tax with a sales tax and has more recently signed the no-tax-increase pledge of Americans for Tax Reform. But Huckabee simply does not fit in normal boundaries of economic conservatism, as when he criticized President Bush's veto of a Democratic expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Calling global warming a "moral issue" mandating "a biblical duty" to prevent climate change, he has endorsed the cap-and-trade system that is anathema to the free market.

Huckabee clearly departs from the mainstream of the conservative movement in his confusion of "growth" with "greed." Such ad hominem attacks are part of his intuitive response to criticism from the Club for Growth and the libertarian Cato Institute for his record as governor. On Fox News Sunday Nov. 18, he called the "tactics" of the Club for Growth "some of the most despicable in politics today. It's why I love to call them the Club for Greed because they won't tell you who gave their money." In fact, all contributors to the organization's political action committee (which produces campaign ads) are publicly revealed, as are most donors financing issue ads.

Quin Hillyer, a former Arkansas journalist writing in the conservative American Spectator, called Huckabee "a guy with a thin skin, a nasty vindictive streak." Huckabee's retort was to attack Hillyer's journalistic procedures, fitting a mean-spirited image when he responds to conservative criticism.

Nevertheless, he is getting remarkably warm reviews in the news media as the most humorous, entertaining and interesting GOP presidential hopeful. Contrary to descriptions by old associates, he is now called "jovial" or "good-natured." Any Republican who does not sound much like a Republican is bound to benefit from friendly media support, as Sen. John McCain did in 2000 but not today with his return to being more like a conventional Republican.

An uncompromising foe of abortion can never enjoy full media backing. But Mike Huckabee is getting enough favorable buzz that, when combined with his evangelical base, it makes real conservatives shudder.

Huckabee show on now, Hannity after that
He's got a new show on FNC and it is very good.  Hannity's America is on afterwards, which looks to be extremely informative.  Whether you like these 2 or not, their info can be fact-checked.
Dim bulbs? How about Mike Huckabee? LOL!

I didn't agree with Mike Huckabee politically, but I always found him to be incredibly gracious and authentic.  He had Coulter on his show (aptly followed by Jerry Springer, who ironically brought CIVILITY to the show.) and confronted her about the lies she published about HIM in her book.

If you scroll down the first page, you'll see the Springer segment.  I believe when Huckabee referred to "authenticity" while speaking to Springer, he was referring to Coulter.  At least, that's how it came across to me.

Here's the video:

believe in separation of church and state. That is the American way - whether it is popular or not.

Don't bother to warn me about Jesus coming, I'm ready. Please stop assuming you know things you don't.

Pat *Leaky* Leahy aided NSA Phone Taps

Looks like one of your own started the modern NSA wiretaps.  I think the Democrats fail to realize there's this thing out there called the Internet and not just the bullhorn of the leftist media to give the peasants amnesia to what they've done in the past.

Pat Leaky Leahy Aided NSA Phone Taps

In 1994 Sen. Pat Leaky Leahy co-wrote a law that forced telecommunications carriers to build convenient wiretap features into their networks enabling the kind of telephone records collection now at the heart of the controversy over the National Security Agency's terrorist surveillance operation.

In recent days Leahy has called the NSA's actions troubling and potentially illegal - saying they show that the Bush administration is treating Americans like terrorists.

'The secret collection of phone call records of tens of millions of Americans? he exclaimed after USA Today blew the lid off the program last week. Are you telling me that tens of millions of Americans are involved with al-Qaeda?

But according to the Rutland Herald, Leahy was singing a different tune 12 years ago, when he was pushing the Senate to pass his bill, the Communication Assistance for Law Enforcement Act [CALEA].

I suggest to senators if anybody does want to hold [CALEA] up, I hope that at this time next year, neither they nor their constituents, nor anybody they know, is a kidnap victim or victim of a terrorist, and have somebody ask why nothing can be done, and be told because a law that had probably 99 percent support in the House and the Senate did not pass.

Contacted by the Herald earlier this week, Leahy said there was an important difference between what his law authorized and the actions taken by the Bush administration.

That law talks of the technology of the interception and what technology can be used to intercept and it assumes very clearly that it can only be done with a warrant, the Vermont Democrat insisted.

Some legal experts say, however, said that assumption is not as clear as Leahy claims. Analyzing CALEA in 2003, the Rutgers Computer & Technology Law Journal explained:

CALEA requires a telecommunications provider to make 'its equipment, facilities, or services ... capable of ... enabling the government ... [without a warrant] to intercept ... all wire and electronic communications carried by the carrier.'

Civil libertarians are also troubled by Leahy's law.

The secret search and wiretap provisions could lead to an age of Big Brother-like surveillance, the American Civil Liberties Union complained in the same Law Journal report. Americans who oppose U.S. policies and who are believed to have ties to foreign powers could find their homes broken into and their telephones tapped.

Phone-Jamming Records Point to White House

More Bush dirty tricks.

Phone-Jamming Records Point to White House

By LARRY MARGASAK, Associated Press WriterMon Apr 10, 4:55 PM ET

Key figures in a phone-jamming scheme designed to keep New Hampshire Democrats from voting in 2002 had regular contact with the White House and Republican Party as the plan was unfolding, phone records introduced in criminal court show.

The records show that Bush campaign operative James Tobin, who recently was convicted in the case, made two dozen calls to the White House within a three-day period around Election Day 2002 — as the phone jamming operation was finalized, carried out and then abruptly shut down.

The national Republican Party, which paid millions in legal bills to defend Tobin, says the contacts involved routine election business and that it was preposterous to suggest the calls involved phone jamming.

The Justice Department has secured three convictions in the case but hasn't accused any White House or national Republican officials of wrongdoing, nor made any allegations suggesting party officials outside New Hampshire were involved. The phone records of calls to the White House were exhibits in Tobin's trial but prosecutors did not make them part of their case.

Democrats plan to ask a federal judge Tuesday to order GOP and White House officials to answer questions about the phone jamming in a civil lawsuit alleging voter fraud.

Repeated hang-up calls that jammed telephone lines at a Democratic get-out-the-vote center occurred in a Senate race in which Republican John Sununu defeated Democrat Jeanne Shaheen, 51 percent to 46 percent, on Nov. 5, 2002.

Besides the conviction of Tobin, the Republicans' New England regional director, prosecutors negotiated two plea bargains: one with a New Hampshire Republican Party official and another with the owner of a telemarketing firm involved in the scheme. The owner of the subcontractor firm whose employees made the hang-up calls is under indictment.

The phone records show that most calls to the White House were from Tobin, who became President Bush's presidential campaign chairman for the New England region in 2004. Other calls from New Hampshire senatorial campaign offices to the White House could have been made by a number of people.

A GOP campaign consultant in 2002, Jayne Millerick, made a 17-minute call to the White House on Election Day, but said in an interview she did not recall the subject. Millerick, who later became the New Hampshire GOP chairwoman, said in an interview she did not learn of the jamming until after the election.

A Democratic analysis of phone records introduced at Tobin's criminal trial show he made 115 outgoing calls — mostly to the same number in the White House political affairs office — between Sept. 17 and Nov. 22, 2002. Two dozen of the calls were made from 9:28 a.m. the day before the election through 2:17 a.m. the night after the voting.

There also were other calls between Republican officials during the period that the scheme was hatched and canceled.

Prosecutors did not need the White House calls to convict Tobin and negotiate the two guilty pleas.

Whatever the reason for not using the White House records, prosecutors tried a very narrow case, said Paul Twomey, who represented the Democratic Party in the criminal and civil cases. The Justice Department did not say why the White House records were not used.

The Democrats said in their civil case motion that they were entitled to know the purpose of the calls to government offices at the time of the planning and implementation of the phone-jamming conspiracy ... and the timing of the phone calls made by Mr. Tobin on Election Day.

While national Republican officials have said they deplore such operations, the Republican National Committee said it paid for Tobin's defense because he is a longtime supporter and told officials he had committed no crime.

By Nov. 4, 2002, the Monday before the election, an Idaho firm was hired to make the hang-up calls. The Republican state chairman at the time, John Dowd, said in an interview he learned of the scheme that day and tried to stop it.

Dowd, who blamed an aide for devising the scheme without his knowledge, contended that the jamming began on Election Day despite his efforts. A police report confirmed the Manchester Professional Fire Fighters Association reported the hang-up calls began about 7:15 a.m. and continued for about two hours. The association was offering rides to the polls.

Virtually all the calls to the White House went to the same number, which currently rings inside the political affairs office. In 2002, White House political affairs was led by now-RNC chairman Ken Mehlman. The White House declined to say which staffer was assigned that phone number in 2002.

As policy, we don't discuss ongoing legal proceedings within the courts, White House spokesman Ken Lisaius said.

Robert Kelner, a Washington lawyer representing the Republican National Committee in the civil litigation, said there was no connection between the phone jamming operation and the calls to the White House and party officials.

On Election Day, as anybody involved in politics knows, there's a tremendous volume of calls between political operatives in the field and political operatives in Washington, Kelner said.

If all you're pointing out is calls between Republican National Committee regional political officials and the White House political office on Election Day, you're pointing out nothing that hasn't been true on every Election Day, he said.

After reading Huckabee's pronouncement I was moved to religious zeal.....
I found myself saying "Good God!" and "Jesus Christ!"
My husband does just that. He is on the phone weekly with our sens and reps. state and federal. sm
Our congressment and senators et AL are on speed dial. If my husband has a beef or a question, he is on the phone letting them know (nicely of course) that they screwed up. But on the other hand he does call and tell them thank you when they do something right. One of the congressmen from Michigan voted no on the bailout. So he got a call from both of us. Same with the senator from Michigan who voted FOR the bailout. He got a call saying he has just lost 2 votes. We may be a minority, but the aides in those offices know who my husband is..and all he has to say is his first name. If you keep the heat on, hopefully things can change. Maybe not right away, but hopefully at some time. Just not in my lifetime I am afraid.
If I were an independent voter receiving McCain's garbage phone ad this weekend

You're making dinner and trying to sit down with your family to eat after an exhausting work week and pouring over your 401K loss report.  You have just found out that the $42,000 you had accumulated as of last spring is now worth $26,040.  You've just turned off the burner under the hot veggies when, BRRRINNNGGGG, the phone rings.  It's the McCain campaign delivering an urgent message to you in the privacy of your own home, assuming you never listen to network news, read a paper or go on line and are unaware of their latest breaking news....telling you that Barack Obama is a terrorist who hangs with other terrorists, on the off chance that it might capture your previously uncommitted vote.  If it happened to me, I would be up with the chickens Monday morning at the early voting polls telling every single peson within earshot that I had just voted a straight Dem ticket.  How dare they?

Call me what you want, just don't call me late for dinner. LOL....
GP, I like your sense of humor.
You call it hysteria, some call it concern for the
nm
Then call it what it is...or call for conservation...
but don't make up a myth to try to gain control. That is what Gore is after...what all the global warming hoohah is after. They have an agenda...pure and simple. And the base fact is that a very low percentage of the greenhouse gas effect is from cars. Every time you breathe out, you contribute. Are we all going to stop breathing? Are cows going to stop belching? I have no problem with ethanol...I have used it. My husband is from Iowa...I would love it if we started using ethanol more extensively. But in previous years, Democrats (Hillary being a primary one) opposed the use of ethanol. I guess if I believed any of those people out there hawking global warming actually believed what they were saying it would be different...but I don't. The science is not there. As I said...if the real interest is conservation with the side benefit of less CO2...fine. Just say so. But as the article pointed out...if it is as bad as they say it is, you can't stop it anyway. It just does not make good sense to me.
Fine. Call if whatever you want to call it....
I will call it as I see it. I look at a totality of things. He has embraced black liberation theology which is racist and has Marxist tones for 20 years. There is no way the man went to that church for 20 years and did not know their doctrine. But, if you choose to believe that, again, fine. I do not. I believe he knows that theology backward and forward and believes it to his core. You don't have to. That is the wonderful thing about America. We can agree or disagree. On this we disagree.

Yes, I am feeling a pinch. But I don't think the government should take money from you and give it to me. I don't think they should take money from any private business and give it to me. If you think that is fair, fine. I don't. That is how socialism/Marxism takes hold. Historically it ends the same way. I don't want that for America. Perhaps you do...you want the pinch eased for you and if that means taking money from someone else that they earned, and giving it to you, who did not earn it, to you it is all good. To me it isn't.

He never has said who the $1000 checks are going to. I am thinking not every person in the whole US of A...so not only does he get to choose who he takes the money from, he gets to choose who to give it to. That would be another interesting piece of the puzzle. If he confirms to the Marxist view, it would be issuing checks to the "poor." And he gets to define who that is. You may be okay with that...me, not so much.

And by the way...have you ever researched an oil company profit margin? It is not as huge as Obama would like you to believe. But, again, he is counting on no one researching what he says. They hear free money and that's all they want to hear. Also, do you think oil companies don't employ people? You think it is one CEO at a desk in an office raking in billions? You don't think there are rank and file regular folks who work for oil companies? Whose jobs might be impacted by you and others wanting to take money away from their employers and doling it out to people who have not earned it? You think there is a chance they might have a problem with that?
I call, fax, and call again and I do campaign....

Try looking it up. To call something

Effective? Effective in prolonging the war...yes. Effective in further endangering our men and women in the war zone...yes. Effective in boosting enemy morale? Yes. By all means. Get out there and be effective.

Exercise YOUR right as long as YOU feel it necessary. I think that says it all.

Have a good day.

what this all means. You will not be getting a tax cut at all! You need to understand that.
Would never call you a Dem
I consider myself conservative, but have voted several times Dem. I just find it hard to believe that anyone could accept the hate coming from this man about how terrible this country is. Yes, there are problems, but villifying the government and calling the people in this country stupid - just beyond reason.
