LOL, ya know, reading your post about glass half empty, geez. I used to, in my younger days, be a glass half full. I used to debate with friends and coworkers, especially liked debating with cute doctors (smile) about their glass half empty view and my glass half full view..However, as I have gotten older, wiser and more tired, yes I guess my view is glass half empty. Really good post, we all know he will be under a magnifying glass, and all his motives and ideals,,,
will be questioned, debated, and scrutinized more than any other president. He has only been in office a week and look at all the criticism/second-guessing etc that is going on....folks tend to forget that the last time we were in a real depression of this magnitude, FDR did not turn it around overnight, took most of his first three terms, and then some, and then WWII actually acted as economic stimulus for this country (very bad way to boost domestic economics!). But if we are looking at things unbiased and just know human nature, yes, he will be held to a higher standard, but I personally believe that this man can definitely uphold that standard and supercede it, just my own observations of his intellect and insight. And since PA is a liquor 'control state' i.e. the State runs the whole booze operation, it's not as though the customer can go get their hard liquor from some private enterprise down the street where the help might be more knowledgeable. No matter where you buy whiskey in a control state, you are getting it from the State.
Businesses only need to spend money on marketing and product education if they have to compete for your money.

I take great issue with the fact that we have some serious problems in America (unemployment/lost jobs, housing crisis, war, etc) and everyone is focused on where and how much was spent on Palin and families clothes. Hooey is what I say! (sorry don't know how to spelly hooey(who-ee)). Everyone is focused on money. Money, money, money. That's all anyone cares about. Obama is picked and everyone is praising the democratic choice because he is not someone who has been in Washington for centuries like the other. Palin is picked and republicans are critized that she has not been around for centuries. Obama has no experience and that's okay "we need a fresh face with new ideas". Palin is picked who has experience and people chose to ignore that. So everyone wants people who have money in the white house and she is critized for not having enough. Everyone is into the "image". Palin and her family do not live like the high-fallutin (sp?) washington beurocrats do. They don't spent thousands of dollars on clothing. But because "image" is what everyone wants, the GOP buys them clothes. God knows she's made fun of for everything else. She already answered the question. SHE did not buy clothes, etc for her and her family. The GOP did. She has no use for those clothes and they either have been or will be returned. As for people going after her to "verify" this. I think that story is a bunch of crapola! I don't believe it. I have not seen a credible source to verity they haven't returned the items. This is probably like that anonymous coward who is trying to stir up trouble by saying Gov. Palin lost the election for the republicans. Gov. Palin did not lose the election for them. McCain did that all by himself (and GOP for even picking him, and GOP for not picking a different VP candidate). If anything Gov. Palin held it together. Everytime he started diving in the polls she would get out and give speeches and the debate, and his poll numbers would go up. People loved Gov. Palin. Others were just bitter or hateful.
She never "stepped over the limits", because the GOP was the ones who determined that her family had to hold the same image so they did what they needed. The GOP knew very well people would not vote for someone who's family is a jeans & t-shirt type of family. Image. That's all that anyone cares about and if the McCain camp had any chance at all the GOP knew they had to present an image to the public.
She and her family gave everything back. It will be (or has been) verified. People need to stop focusing on this petty insignificant issue and lets move ahead. We will never make this country great if the democrats keep focusing on Gov. Sarah Palin and what has happened in the past. The democrats are always screaming at us stop looking in the past. I read somewhere that this is why the democratic party will fail. Because they don't look ahead, they keep focusing on Palin and keep preferring to kick her while she is down. Leave the lady and her family alone. They've gone back home and you will not have to see them or hear from them again.

If you were in debt, what are you to do, I guess get more in debt. Then you beg your family and friends to bail you out and now you owe them plus your debt and it get worse and worse. Finally, bankrupt and could be out in the streets.

By tomorrow, after this new TARP program comes out by our new treasury, we could be about 2 Trillion dollars in debt total, plus the 750 billion from the previous bailout. We need to pay off our debts and not create more!
I agree that cutting taxes may not have helped, but I believe some of us who are in this mess have done it to ourselves (me included). Some wanted a fancy car, better house, nicer things and we bought and bought (not all of us) and now our nation is running and functioning by being in debt.
Took an 8 hour Crown Ministry class and it was incredible. They have a website and they recommend not to call a credit counselor, but to call one of them and guess what, IT IS FREE and they tell you what to say to your creditors and how to set up a budget plan. I am paying off all my debts no matter how hard I work and getting rid of a car and going by a strict budget.
I believe if this stimulus goes through the way it is by spending and spending, well, the ugly head of inflation will appear. I do not want my credit cards to rise to 30-40% interest or have the bank say, cough up the money honey, nor do I want to pay 12.00 for half gallon of milk.

I would be happy to step up and point a few things that would lead many people to the conclusion that at least the message in your post is racist, and to the more general conclusion that people who post racist messages are very likely, well....racist.

It's not being "rushed." It's not even on the table. If you like your insurance, you should have a right to keep it. Others of us would like the option of a single-payer program.

I just don't trust the government to take care of my health needs. I don't want them controlling any aspect of it, including what procedures need to be done and whether it's cost-effective (meaning will I live long enough to recoup the cost) to have the procedure done.
I agree something needs to be done about insurance and health care and I speak as one of the millions without health care (my husband and I are both self-employed, but cannot afford full coverage). Single payer (meaning the government pays) is just not the answer - look at how they've screwed up everything else!
Just think about that for a minute...
Think what that would mean to Americans. Death penality if you do not follow one religion. Hands cut off for stealing. Stoned to death for adultery. Stoned to death or worse for homosexuality. No TV other than state TV. No western music. No abortions. No living together outside marriage. Girls killed by their own families for premarital sex. No divorce. Women in total subjection in a society totally dominated by males. Some of the practices and lifestyles this country has come to accept in the name freedom, whether good or bad, gone in a heartbeat. The scary thing is that a good part of this country will go on thinking that can't happen here...and unfortunately that may be the death knell of America as we know it. I shudder to think. All Christians no matter what denomination need to hit their knees and pray hard that that does not happen to our country, and we need to support our country's efforts in Iraq and support the men and women who are there trying to keep just this thing from happening. We are losing the will to fight, and in so doing are rolling onto our backs to expose our belly to the wolves. Sorry to be so graphic, but that is about what it amounts to. This man has changed his mind (that's a nice way of saying he lies) as much as Biden did in the debate last PM. Keep in mind that literally anything that is "gov't-sponsored" is actually YOU sponsored. You take home less money (less than you do now, that's for sure), you hand over even more control to "the gov't," etc.
If nothing else, look how everything "the gov't" does gets more screwed up every time "they" touch it. The bailout they just signed had thousands of pages added to it. That's the name of that tune. Hope this helps.
Incidentally, I don't give anyone a free pass. That's something I've never understood.
Let us for a minute consider this
in a different way.
Let us say that your son or daughter are in school. They are very good students. They do their homework, study, and get good grades. In fact, they get an A. However, another little girl or boy didn't do so well in class. Instead...they got a D. Now an A is above average and a D is below average as I'm sure all of you aware of. So the A student can afford to lose part of their grade right because they are above average. So let us say that we take a bit of the A grade to up the unfortunate child who received a D so that way they get a C. That would make the unfortunate child have an average grade. Now the child earning the A but having it taken away is very upset. They worked so hard for that A but because others felt she could afford to give up part of her A so another child could bring a below average grade up to an average grade would make the whole school a happy place because everyone would be average. No one would be below average. But the A student gets very down and stops trying because what is the point. The A they earned will be taken away any way. The D student continues to get below average grades because....hey...no big deal...teacher will just take it from an A student and I'll be average. No harm done except now the A student is getting lower grades because their hard work has been penalized and they have stopped trying.
If this were happening in our school systems each and every one of us would have an absolute fit but that is exactly what Barrack Obama is wanting to do to us. Instead he is doing it with our hard-earned money.

First, $60,000 per year is not exactly in the wealthy category but even in this day it is or should be enough to pay for the necessities with some money left over.
Do I pay for everything with cash? You betcha! We have done so for years while we scrimped and saved to pay off the mortgage, get the cars paid off, etc. Then that money instead of going into finer living went into savings. We still live frugally because we fully expect that we will have to help our kids who are not yet old enough to have followed our advice...I might add that of 4 only 1 (Joe the real life plumber) has the desire to follow in our footsteps. People these days want bigger houses, newer cars, more "stuff" to keep up with the Jones and have kept buying what they can't afford...when their credit runs out then what? Bankruptcy? Bush pretty well took that option off the table. I fully expect debtor's prison to be the next thing on the agenda.
Use your head. If the middle class does well everyone does well. Where's the middle class now? But the greed is still there and that includes greedy people as well as greedy big business.
As for the rebates.....I was NOT in favor of the rebates and said they would do no good........they didn't. Mine went into the mattress and I'd gladly give it back if it would help this economy. I imagine the majority of people threw money at the credit card bill collectors hoping to stave them off another day or so. So who benefited from that?

It has been my experience with 2 hospital jobs that I had, most of the women, probably 95%, were married and did not need to work. This is going back some 16 years, but it was reasonable back then. A lot of women I worked with talked about how they ocketed their pay in the bank and lived off the spouses pay and benefits.
Times have changed so much. I was a single, newcomer, who needed every penny I made because I lived week to week, but they would always vote down the benefits because they did not need them, and they always put me down all the time. Luckily, there were a few bright shining stars who were open, friendly, and helpful - who taught me SO much about transcription; but the majority, well, not so much.
My point is that our profession has one of the biggest class divisions I think I have ever seen or experienced.

Regardless, I support Obama 100%, and as I have said many times: No candidate is perfect, but he is an exceptional human being and can literally help "save" this country, and Lord knows we need some savin up in here! I am very optimistic about the outcome in Iowa.
