Yeah and guess what the Bush family has tight ties with the Bin Ladin family....

so give it all a rest would you.

If you've ever wondered how
Hitler came into such power.....you are looking at it right now.  Such a smooth transition with blind followers and before you know it.....we have dictator Obama.
I've kind of wondered about this
because my stepson's great-grandpa on his mom's side has always been strictly democrat.  If you mentioned voting for a republican in his presence....well....it got kind of ugly.  However, I don't know what he is doing this year....and am too terrified to ask him personally...lol.....because he is also a prejudice sort of old man.  So will he vote democrat and stick with his regular party or will he refuse to vote for a black man?  Makes you wonder how many racism democrats there are out there and which way they will go.
Good one, gourdpainter. I've often wondered that myself...nm

True to their newest stand, right wing blogger smears family of murdered soldier.

Predictably, falling right in line with Tony Snow and his *2,500 is a number* statement on June 15, followed one day later by the fiercely *patriotic* Rush *I'dLoveToServeMyCountryButCan'tBecauseOfThisPimpleOnMyButt* Limbaugh, reminding them that aborted fetuses are more important than murdered American soldiers (as was posted on the *other* board on June 16), all the while publicly declaring that all liberals who post on this board don't care about our troops.  *Profound* indeed.

WINGNUT JOHN HINDERAKER SMEARS DEAD SOLDIER'S UNCLE. A couple of minutes ago I came across this Associated Press story saying that the uncle of Kristian Menchaca -- one of the U.S. soldiers who was missing and is now said to be dead -- criticized the United States for Menchaca's disappearance and death. My first thought was to do a post asking how long it would take before the wingnuts started smearing the grief-stricken uncle.

Alas, I'm too late. Over at Powerline Blog, John Hinderaker has already cranked up the slime machine and let fly:

In a sick coda, Menchaca's uncle, Ken MacKenzie, appeared on the Today show and recited weirdly inapplicable Democratic Party talking points in relation to his own nephew's death...No shame.

I've asked this before, but what is it about the relatives of people killed by terrorists that these wingnuts hate so much? Recall that Ann Coulter smeared the widows of 9/11 victims and that many righty bloggers smeared the father of Nick Berg, who was beheaded in Iraq. Their sin, of course, was that they criticized America and George Bush.

Let me put this as clearly as I can: To the likes of Hinderaker, the pain of those who lost loved ones to this war only matters to the extent that the bereaved allow their grief to be used to prop up the war effort and Bush himself. If the bereaved relatives don't allow their grief to be used in this fashion, their sacrifice and loss no longer matter a whit -- they're not to be pitied or empathized with, but scorned and humiliated as brutally as possible. Despicable.

This is true. I've seen him try and talk without preparation
Not a pretty sight.
Family values....Obama's family can't even agree

I feel very sorry indeed for Sarah Palin and her family, she ran for VP, not her family, she should
on her experience, her political record, etc, period, no attacking children, and no one throwing stones at "sinner" daughters, that is what I mean, the media wants to put people on pedestals and then throw stones at them at they hunt down not just the public figure, but all their loved ones, I think it is disgusting, it is a HUMAN issue, has nothing to do with politics on either side, why twist my post that way?
Interview with Charmaine Neville, family member of the Neville musical family

September 7, 2005

Women were Being Raped, Babies were Being Killed, Alligators were Eating People, But Where the Hell was the National Guard?
How We Survived the Flood
By CHARMAINE NEVILLE

This is a transcription of an interview Charmaine Neville, of New Orleans's legendary Neville family, gave to local media outlets on Monday, September 5.

I was in my house when everything first started. When the hurricane came, it blew all the left side of my house off, and the water was coming in my house in torrents.

I had my neighbor, an elderly man, and myself, in the house with our dogs and cats, and we were trying to stay out of the water. But the water was coming in too fast. So we ended up having to leave the house.

We left the house and we went up on the roof of a school. I took a crowbar and I burst the door on the roof of the school to help people on the roof.

Later on we found a flat boat, and we went around the neighborhood in a flat boat getting people out of their houses and bringing them to the school.

We found all the food that we could and we cooked and we fed people. But then, things started getting really bad.

By the second day, the people that were there, that we were feeding and everything, we had no more food and no water. We had nothing, and other people were coming in our neighborhood. We were watching the helicopters going across the bridge and airlift other people out, but they would hover over us and tell us Hi! and that would be all. They wouldn't drop us any food or any water, or nothing.

Alligators were eating people. They had all kinds of stuff in the water. They had babies floating in the water.

We had to walk over hundreds of bodies of dead people. People that we tried to save from the hospices, from the hospitals and from the old-folks homes. I tried to get the police to help us, but I realized they were in the same straits we were. We rescued a lot of police officers in the flat boat from the 5th district police station. The guy who was in the boat, he rescued a lot of them and brought them to different places so they could be saved.

We understood that the police couldn't help us, but we couldn't understand why the National Guard and them couldn't help us, because we kept seeing them but they never would stop and help us.

Finally it got to be too much, I just took all of the people that I could. I had two old women in wheelchairs with no legs, that I rowed them from down there in that nightmare to the French Quarters, and I went back and got more people.

There were groups of us, there were about 24 of us, and we kept going back and forth and rescuing whoever we could get and bringing them to the French Quarter because we heard that there were phones in the French Quarter, and that there wasn't any water. And they were right, there were phones, but we couldn't get through to anyone.

I found some police officers. I told them that a lot of us women had been raped down there by guys, not from the neighborhood where we were, they were helping us to save people. But other men, and they came and they started raping women and they started killing, and I don't know who these people were. I'm not gonna tell you I know, because I don't.

But what I want people to understand is that, if we hadn't been left down there like the animals that they were treating us like, all of those things wouldn't have happened. People are trying to say that we stayed in that city because we wanted to be rioting and we wanted to do this and, we didn't have resources to get out, we had no way to leave.

When they gave the evacuation order, if we could've left, we would have left.

There are still thousands and thousands of people trapped in their homes in the downtown area. When we finally did get into the 9th ward, and not just in my neighborhood, but in other neighborhoods in the 9th ward, there were a lot of people still trapped down there... old people, young people, babies, pregnant women. I mean, nobody's helping them.

And I want people to realize that we did not stay in the city so we could steal and loot and commit crimes. A lot of those young men lost their minds because the helicopters would fly over us and they wouldn't stop. We would make SOS on the flashlights, we'd do everything, and it really did come to a point, where these young men were so frustrated that they did start shooting. They weren't trying to hit the helicopters, they figured maybe they weren't seeing. Maybe if they hear this gunfire they will stop then. But that didn't help us. Nothing like that helped us.

Finally, I got to Canal St. with all of my people I had saved from back there.

I don't want them arresting nobody else. I broke the window in an RTA bus. I never learned how to drive a bus in my life. I got in that bus. I loaded all of those people in wheelchairs and in everything else into that bus, and we drove and we drove and we drove and millions of people was trying to get me to help them to get on the bus, too.

Yes, have often wondered about this...

I remember the nightly news on Vietnam with all the photos of stretchers and wounded and ongoing battles.  It made all of us think, "golly, we have to stop this."

But the thing that really bothers me is the lack of major non-TV news coverage on Iraq.  If I didn't know better, up until the 14 marines getting killed recently and thus lots of coverage, I would have thought no one had been killed or wounded in Iraq in quite a while.  RARELY does Iraq even get mentioned on the major internet news sites I follow.  If my relative were killed over there and it didn't even warrant mention I'd be angered.  I surely do wish we could find out why the war is so poorly covered!!!  Anyone know?

Often wondered why

the US doesn't teach a secondary language in schools.  I remember having some high school kids come to my elementary and teach us colors and numbers in Spanish and I still remember that to this day.  However, when I took Spanish for two years in high school, I barely remember a thing at all.  They really need to start with the young kids and continue it all the way through school.  I mean, we have English class every year of school and that is the language we speak and yet they expect us to speak fluent English or French by two years of class in high school.  I don't think so.  I truly wish I could speak another language.  I would particularly like to learn Spanish fluently and sign language.

If I went to live in another country, I would learn their language.  So in that respect, I think people coming to the US should learn English as well as.

I wondered that, too. Whatever it is
messed up her brain. Unless of course, it was all Republican propaganda she keeps spewing.
Has anyone wondered this before?
I'm sorry I'm posting left and right tonight, DO NOT take 5 hour energy! :-D

Okay I just had this thought, and it's a scary one. Even though I don't want Obama for president, I pray this doesn't happen. I know we have all probably considered that Obama may be assassinated if he wins. While the majority of America is past race and what not (I hope!) there are a crazy few out there that would go to any means necessary to make sure we don't have a black president.

Well, what if Biden was chosen because the democratic party knows this is going to happen? Well not knows, because that would just be evil, but has a strong feeling? I mean I just can't see Obama choosing him personally after him saying "on the job training" and "I'd be honored to run with Mccain and the country would be better off" and all the other Bidenisms. What if they are just using Obama as a poster boy?

Sorry, I guess I have a little bit of conspiracy theorist in me.

Anyways, not trying to start any wars, just wondering if anyone has ever thought about this? javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
I wondered where you'd been, sam...

I haven't watched the board much, but normally a hornet's nest is easy to find once you post anything.  Then they just dog-pile on.

I too have wondered about this
I already have 20K in student loans and I haven't even graduated yet. I took a year off to take MT classes at the community college because I needed something that paid more than $7 an hour. I'm probably looking at at least another 20K to get my bachelor's, and since I want to get to my PhD in psychology one day, who knows how much more. I am trying to save money and pay my way without taking out loans, but as I'm sure you know something always happens and that money you saved is gone!

Wow. I just wondered where you
I did check out the DHS website and see nothing alarming to me there. In fact, I saw a number of very positive things. Sorry to have bothered you.
You know, I have always wondered if s/m

pot-stirrers wandered in and out of these forums just to rile people up on these controversial issues.  I hope you're right and it's not an MT.

Yes, people are all too willing to accept things at face value and not question and that makes it much easier for subversive factions to weaken and destabilize a system of integrity that needs to be protected.  I don't understand it when I hear people say that the CIA doesn't lie, or that government officials would never betray the trust of the people, but history has proven time and time again that it happens all the time.  Power and greed are insidious entities and unfortunately our society is rampant with it.  I have believed for a very long time that there are a whole world of things we don't have a clue about and, God forbid, the proverbial caca will hit the fan when those things come to light.  It's not a conspiracy theory or paranoid thinking, it is a reality.  There are two types of people:  Blissfully ignorant and painfully aware.  I was burdened with the latter  Gee, what type are you?

Oh, Observer. I wondered where you'd been. sm
By the way, 'sm' means 'see message' (as opposed to 'nm' meaning 'no message'). Doesn't mean 'small message' as far as I know.

I agree with that last paragraph that kitty wrote. And I don't know where you're getting your statistics either, because poll after poll has shown that the vast majority of Americans are in favor of abortion remaining legal during the 1st trimester. Less (but still a majority) are in favor of abortion remaining legal up to the 2nd trimester, but not after that.

What I get from your posts is that when someone mentions 'abortion' you picture a healthy, full-term infant of 9 months' gestation, angelic and cooing happily in its crib, being viciously 'murdered.' Obviously, that is not what takes place when the pregnancy is under 3 months.

Me, I picture a cluster of cells that may or may not have gone on to become a person. After all, it's been estimated that 50% of all human conceptions end in spontaneous abortion ('miscarriage'), usually w/o a woman even knowing she was pregnant. And in fact, 20% of all recognized pregnancies end in miscarriages. That is just human biology. Are you weeping and wailing for all those 'children'?

I don't believe there is any suffering of the embryo in that case, or in a 1st (or even 2nd) trimester abortion, but there is *plenty* of suffering of the unwanted children that are already here on this Earth and being abused and neglected.

Make safe, medical abortions illegal, and that suffering will grow exponentially with more unwanted children, as well as more women who will die or be injured during an illegal, unsafe abortion - because abortions will still take place.

IMO, on both 'sides' of the issue, we should all be working towards reducing the number of unplanned pregnancies in the first place by demanding better education, better birth control methods, and better access and affordability to birth control.

So you say...I have not seen any ties from
McCain and Palin to any skinheads. Come on. That is ridiculous. Skinheads do not need any fuel.
Have you ever wondered where Tony Blair went?
Case in point.

Why did the Kennedy's have ties to organized crime?

Why was the Texas Democratic party of Lyndon Johnson horribly corrupt?

Why was Lyndon Johnson's election to the senate in 1948 won by massive voter fraud?

Why did Lyndon Johnson insert language into the IRS code in 1954 that prohibited non-profits, including churches, from endorsing or opposing candidates for political office. In effect, this thoroughly corrupt man used the power of the IRS to silence his opposition. Unfortunately, it worked. Why?  His disservice to religious freedom has yet to be undone.  Why?

How did Kennedy defeat Nixon in Illinois?

Just rhetorical questions.

That's true - and Barack Obama is a true Patriot too.
Again we can agree to disagree. How John McCain has voted goes against everything I want as a President, but there are an equal number of people to me who feel opposite. That's the way it goes.

Your last comment brought to mind how true that is. Being a true patriot is not harmful in a candidate. John McCain is a patriot. So is Barack Obama.
Bill Clinton and his ties to India (yes, Bill),...
and China (yes, Bill) sent a lot of our jobs their way. Google it some time. Even I was amazed.

Look, it is simple economics. The big bad corporations everyone hates...first of all, it is not 5 or 6 rich guys and that's it. They employee thousands of people just like us...and when the government puts those huge taxes on them, if they want to stay in business, they are forced to move offshore. Higher taxes are responsible for more jobs going overseas than "greed." The DNC has told its members for years that "corporations" and "the rich" are the cause of all their problems and they have bought that Marxist rhetoric hook, line, and sinker. Corporations are not the cause of ill in this country. They are the backbone of the economy in this country. That is simple economics 101. And I am certainly not rich...and I certainly am not on the upper echelon of a corporation, but I do understand reality and I understand how the economy works. Yes, there is wrongdoing by some upper level folks in corporations. There is wrongdoing in the government. Where there is power, there will be wrongdoing. But for every Enron there are thousands of other good, solid companies that employ thousands of Americans, but the DNC does not share the success stories, because it does not promote their agenda. In order to control people they want them beholden to government and hating free enterprise. They want big government, total power, and control. And following Alinksy's program...you have to instill class warfare. You have to make corporations the enemy. You have to make classes envy the next rung up. Classic Marxist socialism. It is being played out in this country every day.

It is just that some of us have not bought the myth and jumped on the socialism train.
Can't chew gum. Would've if I could've.

Being faithful to his family
You're kidding, right?
I saw a show on TLC about this family...
To each his own, especially if you're footing the bill yourself, but this family is just uplain creepy.  The children are all homeschool and virtually isolated from any other children other than another family or two who share the same nutty religious convictions.  They even have their OWN church at home.  The girls all wear these horrid sad-sack Little House on the Prairie identical plaid potato sack dresses that look like they were made from discarded curtains and when asked their only aspirations are to have lots of children and to be a mother.  The boys also dress identically in little Leave it to Beaver short-sleeved dress shirts.  It's called Full Quiver parenting, as in having as many kids as you get before you get to menopause or your uterus falls out, whichever comes first.  I find the whole thing rather odd, but who am I to judge I suppose.
Your family will be in my prayers. nm
nm
Are you the one who has been threatening him and and his family?

and I commend you and your family
You are to be honored, and I do honor you all.
According to the bin Laden family sm
They disowned Osama a long long time ago. In fact, the bin Laden family owns probably the largest construction company in the Middle East. They built the new U.S. military installation in Saudi Arabia.  I am thinking they were allowed to leave for fear of retribution by Americans.  That was always my thought and I never really questioned it because I knew of the alienation between Osama and his family.
Horrible for her family...
and hearing the candidates' (both sides) reactions to it have been interesting. All have the similar thread tho...must preserve democracy in Pakistan.
family values

She was left unsupervised at a very critical age (like the Down baby will be) and did not receive enough parental guidance to prevent this tragedy.

family values

Barack and Michelle have been married for years with not a hint of scandal.  they have two beautiful age-appropriate children. Joe Biden has a beautiful blended family that truly loves each other. McCain dumped his gravely injured first wife for a beauty queen.  Then he was pressured into picking another beauty queen with an Down infant who obviously needs a full time mother and pregnant teenager for his running mate.  Family values, family values, family values.

I think they had a family discussion ...
and they decided as a family to go forward. And this would not be an issue had there are those judgmental among us who decided to make it one. In this day and time for the Dems here, of ALL People, to act all holier-than-thou and act like being pregnant not married still carries some kind of stigma just stinks to high heaven. These same people who have told us to go back to our churches and not push our morality on them. The hypocrisy is staggering. The very people they called judgmental are the ones surrounding this family to support them, not ostracizing them like they had announced their daughter was a pedophile or a serial killer.

I would put the judgment here much MORE in question than Sarah Palin's, and I think a lot of people out there in America whose lives this very thing has touched will do the same.

And I would say that regardless of what party affiliation she has too. If that was a Democrat running for VP and people wre bashing her in this way I would be yelling foul just as loud.

It just amazes me the depths some will sink to for political purposes. INcluding fileting a 17-year-old. Just because her mother made the announcement did not mean poeple were obligated to attack..that was a choice and it taking that choice says a lot about character...or the screaming lack thereof.
So you are saying now that they have NO family values because their...
daughter is pregnant and not married? Are you REALLY saying that?
there is for their family to decide ... and ..
apparently they did just that. What is right for them very well may not be right for others.

I just think it's a shame people won't let this go and focus on the issues!
Palin family...

They looked great to me.  Cindy McCain reached for the child, it wasn't handed off to her.  Bristol looked anything but terrified.  She looked proud of her mother.  And well she should be.  She is running for VP of the United States.  I thought it was especially sweet with the little girl licked her hand to smooth down the baby's cowlick.  Circus freaks are the last words I would use to describe this family.

My family affairs are none

of your business. I am being viciously mistreated by the press. Wait, film this.  It will get me some votes. Watch me bravely send my first born off to the endless war my political party started.

I have family in Alaska and they
think very highly of S. Palin. FYI, people don't like her JUST because she is likeable. She's smart, courageous, well-grounded with good morals for starters. She doesn't flip-flop to appease the public (like Obama/now for drilling), and she is NOT self-serving (gave up her plane, personal chef, etc etc that came with the job). She is and has been SERVING THE PEOPLE, not playing politics; McCain has the same history, and together they ARE the party of change. p.s. when was the last time Obama had any part in giving money BACK TO THE PEOPLE like Palin did in Alaska? Look at the facts. You have 2 track records of standing up for the people on the McCain/Palin ticket and pretty talk along with old party politics on the Obama/Biden side. It really scares me to think of Obama winning, with his demonstrated lack of judgment and lack of record, poor associations, etc. p.s., if there is a revolution/take-over of the USA it could only be under Obama. notice too, that now his future position in the white house is challenged, he keeps changing his tune to sound more middle-ground. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing; beware.
I'd want the money but not from that family. sm
The poor have more morals and principles. They make most of their money off of misery, lies, deceit, and thievery. They fund both sides of war conflicts and founded the central banking system, which is robbing everyone blind. She met her husband at a Bilderberg conference.

She did support Hillary and then endorsed McCain, but said she did not trust him because he came off like too much of an elitist. Bizarre statement from someone who is a member of a family who possesses more than half the world's wealth since the early 1900s.
