I agree. I am helping the victims with all the financial support I can spare BUT

if we don't ask the question what happened to the levees, what can we do to make sure this doesn't happen again, where did the funding go? then we will find ourselves in the same position again. We can not afford to be policing other countries when the funding is bankrupt for our own needs. That's just the truth.

Cindy isn't interested in helping the victims down there. She's just mad they are stealing
her thunder.  Hopefully, she will be relegated to the pathetic pawn that she is and real news of real importance will come back to the world.  Every time she speaks, she puts our troops in danger.  The troops even said so, but she is too far gone to listen to the troops. They are all brainwashed.
I do agree with you about financial irresponsibility
they need to find some sort of middle ground ......

Oh please! Put down your flag - if you were a true American, you would have been protesting Bush TROUNCING on human rights.

You act like Democrats come from a different country. That would probably be convenient for the Republicans, but that is not the truth. We are ALL Americans and we ALL have a say in our government. Remember Obama won the election by a majority of votes. He did not steal it like the last guy.

I will be watching the comedy on TV when the clowns start marching on Washington. At least wait until you have something to march about.
Is Obama losing support or winning support?
John Clodfelter of Mechanicsville, Va., whose son was among the 17 sailors killed in the Cole bombing, said he arrived at the meeting with apprehension over the decision to close the prison. But after listening to the president and being assured that the terrorism suspects would not be released, Mr. Clodfelter said his opinion changed.

“I did not vote for the man,” Mr. Clodfelter said, “but the way he talks to you, you can’t help but believe in him. He left me with a very positive feeling that he’s going to get this done right.”
Spare me the speeches...(sm)

As far as I'm concerned there is no "reward" to be reaped.  There is no he11.  There is no heaven, and there is no god.  I think what ticks you guys off more than anything is the fact that I am actually free to live my life without fear of that dreaded "after life" that you all aspire to.  What will you think when you figure out at the very end that all you did was for nothing and all you could have done was denied?  How will it feel when you realize you have done nothing but waste your life for the sake of a man-made fear-mongering religion?  It must be miserable to be you.

SPARE ME TO DEATH!! This has NOTHING
This problem has been around a LONG, LONG time - quit trying to blame Obama for THAT too!

UNFREAKINBELIEVABLE....

Now you are trying to make this a racial issue. Next, you will say more blacks were killed in Vietnam than whites and it was all PLANNED!  What a crock of lumpy brown stuff.   The truth...you can't handle the truth.  You'd have to take off your tie dye, rose colored glasses and put down the love beads.  Horror of horrors
Couldn't spare the 5 bucks to buy your own?

Oh please, spare the drama and stick to facts.

Blame the victims
So...lets just blame the victims, the ones who live in New Orleans..OMG..Put the blame where it belongs, on the federal govt for cutting funds to shore up the levees..and who was in control at that time.....BUSH..he needed the money for the rich peoples tax cuts and the insane war.
I actually think that Katrina victims have gotten...
more than enough compassion. Having just moved from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where the hurricane hit the hardest, by the way, not New Orleans, I have seen people milk this hurricane for all it's worth. It has been 3 years, for goodness sake. Don't whine because they are taking away your FEMA trailer--and some people steal them--get a freakin job already! Also, I would be so upset if my husband had to risk his life as a first responder to help people that should not have been there in the first place. They were told to leave and even given transportation, but many chose not to. I can understand those who are handicapped or very old, but able bodied, non-working, wefare begging young people make me angry and, no, I do not think that they deserve any more compassion. Every one of them can come up with enough money for several packs of cigarettes a week, but can't feed their kids or find a place to live on their own. It is a real problem.
These are fallen soldiers not WTC victims

And the why is pretty clear.  By the way, this was addressed to Liberals who definitely understand and appreciate the ***why***

I am remembered the 911 victims today by
having the TV on and observing the moments of silence at the times of the attack. Also the new memorial at the Pentagon was dedicated. It looks beautiful. I hope the families can find some peace when they go there. I also put out 7 small American Flags to represent the 7 years. I also am going to try to see the lights from where the World Trade Towers stood. I live in Northern NJ. I have a hill by my home and you can actually see the city on a clear day. We will never forget.
Do you also blame victims of crime and
inciting the crimes perpetrated against them. Yours is truly an ignorant, ignorant statement.
I don't think he's helping his own cause
From what I saw, he just comes across as a weasel. I'm not sure what he hopes to accomplish.
That's how I feel. How dare the victims be judged.sm

you are the ones helping the terrorists
It is Bush and you and people who think like you who have put us at risk.  We now have a full fledged terrorist state/breeding ground in Iraq because of Bush's war..That has put us at great risk for decades to come.  Before Bush invaded, we had a few radicals that if we kept our focus we could have hunted down in Afghanistan and eliminated.  Instead Bush invaded Iraq for no go reason other than to have a presence in the Middle East for control of the Middle East.  Where is bin Laden?  Why are we fighting in Iraq?  Why are we there?  The real murderer is somewhere in Afghanistan or Pakistan.  Yet, you people continue to back this war when there is no logical good reason to have entered into it or to stay there.  You and your man Bush are helping the terrorists, you have given them every reason to continue to multiply and hate us even more.  You are throwing oil on fire.  I want to put out the fire.
Thank you attorneys for helping the little guy
Thank you attorneys who deal with helping the little guy against enormous corporations and their deceit and corruption in America and those in government who allow it.  Thank you and may you grow and prosper in helping us find justice.
I'm glad someone is helping.
Shame on this administration!
The idea of helping

lower income families really is a neighborly idea.  We should help others.  However, we need to look at the big picture here.  When you continually give free handouts at the expense of others, not only do you make the people actually earning the money bitter, but you create a whole new problem with people expecting the government to bail them out and give them free handouts.  Yes, it may help some people but on the whole it will only create more government spending because more people will become dependent on the goverment taking care of them.  It is like a huge snowball rolling down a mountain and it just gets bigger and bigger and faster and faster until it buries us all.  We cannot afford more government programs.  We cannot afford to pay for health care for everyone.

People are so blinded by the slogan of change that they will jump on any bandwagon.  Open your eyes!  The last thing we need right now is bigger government.  Bigger government will only cause more government spending and our country will fail horribly!

Help Us Send Bibles to the Victims of Hurricane Katrina!

Faith-Based Response

Freehold, Iowa - Landover Baptist Church members have been glued to their television sets for the last few weeks, watching survivors of God's powerful hurricane (named Katrina by secular meteorologists) try to make sense of their ravaged lives. When you live in an area of the world God despises, and He gets ready to blow it off the map, you'd best duck low or high tail it out of town, says Pastor Deacon Fred. The Bible teaches us that when it comes to wiping out sinners, God has a history of having some pretty bad aim. This time I understand He knocked down a few church steeples and even took some good Christian folks back home with Him to Jesus.

What saddens members of the Landover Baptist community the most however, is that the unsaved world is hell-bent on doling out artificial optimism to the victims of God's latest attack.  They are providing food, money, gasoline, and shelter, says Pastor Deacon Fred. These are temporary gifts that give these poor lost people a false hope!  The only real hope comes from the Word of God!  The Holy Bible! These folks need to get fed and sheltered on the Word of God.  We daresn't open our doors to the homeless, because we know it never gets at the real source of their problem, and we always end up with dirty floors.

How are the lost of Katrina going to understand why God did this to them if they don't have a Bible to read? says Pastor Deacon Fred. How are they ever going to be able to prevent it from happening to them again, if they are not able to study the Word of God?  Through the Bible, history teaches us that God has serious issues with large cities that condone prostitution, abortion, homosexuality, mixing of the races, sexual promiscuity, drunkenness, idol worship, practicing false religions (voodoo), and loud pulsing music. Some of them folks in New Orleans, were luckier than Lot's wife though - they stayed behind even though they received the message to get out, and God spared their lives.

It is understandable that the survivors of God's hurricane are confused, starving, homeless, and distraught - but as True Christians™ we know without a doubt in our hearts, that giving them food and shelter is not going to solve the biggest and only real problem in their lives. In fact, it will turn them into beggars and make their misery even worse.  The issue that caused their condition is not an earthly condition at all.  We know that it is an eternal condition, and there is only one sweet balm to soothe a lost soul who has no respect for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.   And that is getting a Holy Bible KJV 1611 into their hands. From what I've seen of these survivors, I doubt many of them know how to read, so we will be sending Bibles on tape for them as well, says Pastor Deacon Fred. They can play the Bible tapes on the boom boxes it looks like they made it a priority to salvage or loot.

Landover Baptist's effort to assist in providing Bibles to victims of Hurricane Katrina is known as a, faith-based response. It is our heartfelt hope that some worthwhile people might be saved from a destruction much more powerful than God's hurricanes - for they are but a precursor to what is really going to happen on that great and glorious day when He finally gets so ticked-off He just blows up the whole world.

Yep those mean conservatives are over there helping Israel

Yep, they'll be back when all the Lebanese are dead, because all us conservatives are evil like that.

i don't mind working and helping out others
but would prefer to choose who I help... not the government telling me
So your idea of helping the less fortunate is
to give them freebies all their life so they don't have to do anything to earn it, thereby encouraging them to do nothing else, have no motivation, and just depend on the government? I think we have enough of those as it is.

Too bad I don't hear Obama saying get yourselves up, get yourself educated, and go make a life for yourselves!!!

Proof to me he likes to keep them dumb and uneducated so he can be "their leader".

Guess he figured anybody could fill the spot. I believe there might be other top officials of FEMA who also got jobs instead of thank you notes for helping Bush be reelected.

Around the time of the campaign, a document came out citing FEMA's lack of qualified leadership, but it was pretty much dismissed as political mud-slinging.

news of the last several days just heard about a special on CNN tomorrow night and Sunday where Colin Powell, Madeline Albright, Henry Kissinger, Jim Baker and Warren Christopher engage in a forum and talk about foreign policy.  I heard a few sound bites and it sounds very interesting.  I am glad to see a forum where respected people from both parties with experience get together and express their views, agree or disagree respectfully.  I will definitely be watching.
A financial attack?
Tell that to the thousands who lost their lives or their loved ones that day. Wow, how cold can you be?
Financial bonuses

Two days ago on C-Span they seemed to congratulate the bigwigs of the financial companies who got BILLIONS in BONUSES. They ran down the list of those that were being questioned and how much they received. It's absolutely sickening. I had to turn it off.

O's votes support his claims. JM's votes support Bush.
Believe what you like. Voting records tell the tale. Could use a few more details on that budget. Just what programs will he slash and and how many tax dollars will be directed away from middle class and in the direction of the rich? How much longer can the infrastructure afford to crumble?

JM adopted O's withdrawal plan when he saw how well it went over with the public in an election year. He flipped on the war once. What's to stop him from flipping again once elected? The nation is war weary. Some prefer a surge in diplomacy, not military answers to diplomatic failures. Ask the Iraqis who have lost more than 100,000 among them how sucessful the war has been. Obama has always understood that the OBL/Taliban live in Afganistan, not Iraq. JM, a little slow on the draw there.

I see nothing in JMs platform that backs his claims about transparency. I see specific plan on the O side under technology initiatives, continued initiatives which originated under Clinton and were reversed during the undercover Bush administration. Pork barrel spending for pubs means something different than it does to dems. Slash the poor to give to the rich? Hard seel in the current economic frefall. Also find nothing in JM's plan to address runaway contract corruption in Iraq. Having Halliburton and companies there props up those struggling American corporations. Show me the plan.

Antiglobal/antidiplomacy. No surprise there. This is about the futureworld, not American imperial delusions of grandeur. So much data on the drilling scam being an immediate relief for gas problems out there it is not worth addressing. Can you say T-Bone Pickens, i.e., we can't drill our way out of this one. He should know. Been an oil man all his life.

Since these are just a few, what else do you have up your sleeve?
And so helping them means just giving them a check and food stamps? SM

What about providing them the tools to deal with and live a productive life with their handicap or mental illness?  The problem with the liberals and their idea of helping humanity is that throwing money at the problem doesn't make it go away.  Do you know how many homeless people out there suffer with mental illness?  Do you know how many people with mentally ill family members weren't able to get their loved one the help they needed?  I'm talking tangible help, not just a monthly stipend that doesn't even cover the meds they require!

Do you realize that your husband, mother, father, sister brother, who ever can slice their wrists and take a handful of pills in an attempt to commit suicide, admit to their family they don't want to live, but when they show up to the ER and say "I didn't really want to kill myself" they just let them walk away with stitches in their wrists and after they've pumped their stomachs?  Did you know that even if they holler in the ER to the doctor, nurse, and social worker that they don't want to live and the most a family member can do to help their loved is an affadavit for a 96-hour hold in most states?  After 96 hours, they are deemed "okay" and released again to go on their merry way.

The liberal lawmakers have passed laws that say a mentally ill person has the right to be mentally ill.  They have a right to decide not to take their meds and they have a right to be homeless.  They are allowed to make decisions on their own which are detrimental to their well being, both physically and mentally!  A family member pleading to the court that this person is incompetent and cannot take themselves is virtually ignored.  I dare anyone to try to go to a court of law and get POA over a mentally ill loved one and see just how difficult it really is.  It's impossible thanks to the liberals.

I think most know that Air America has had financial woes.
Once it was learned that they had misappropriated monies which were supposed to have been used for charity, they lost some good backers. I would think it most probably is financial.  There is not a plot behind every business dealing.

World leaders dine in style as they discuss financial crisis

(CNN) – The global economy may be undergoing a significant downturn, but the White House's dinner budget still appears flush with cash.

After all, world leaders who are in town to discuss the economic crisis are set to dine in style Friday night while sipping wine listed at nearly $500 a bottle.

According to the White House, tonight's dinner to kick off the G-20 summit includes such dishes as "Fruitwood-smoked Quail," "Thyme-roasted Rack of Lamb," and "Tomato, Fennel and Eggplant Fondue Chanterelle Jus."

To wash it all down, world leaders will be served Shafer Cabernet “Hillside Select” 2003, a wine that sells at $499 on Wine.com.

The exceedingly pricey wine may seem a bit peculiar given leaders are in Washington to discuss a possible world financial meltdown, but Sally McDonough, a spokeswoman for Laura Bush, said it "was the most appropriate wine that we had in the White House wine cellar for such a gathering.

McDonough also said the White House purchased the wine at a "significantly lower price" than what it is listed at.

"Of course the White House gets its wine at wholesale prices," she said. "Given the intimate size of the group, it was an appropriate time for The White House to use this stock."

The leaders of the U.K., France, Russia, China, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey and 11 developing economies have all come to Washington at the behest of President Bush in an effort to express confidence in the fundamental underpinnings of the world's economy.

With the looming financial situation...... sm
I don't think Obama's current "plan" will hold much water. A plan is just that....a plan, and we know what John Steinbeck had to say about that. Even if he could tax the upper crust enough to cover the financial crisis, his redistribution of wealth would be moot point because there would likely be nothing left to distribute.

Whether Obama or McCain were elected would make no appreciabe difference in our tax situation because this huge bailout has to be recouped in some fashion and it will be off the backs of ALL Americans.....at least the ones who pay taxes.
No, unions DO put them in a financial hole.
