Teen charged with charged with one felony count of terroristic threatening...see article

Teen charged with threats

Middle-school boy e-mailed theats to officials

FLORENCE - A 13-year-old Ockerman Middle School student has been charged with threatening George W. Bush, just days before the president is set to throw the first pitch for Reds Opening Day in Cincinnati.

The teen - described by a police investigator as a student of presidential politics - remained in the custody of his mother Tuesday afternoon at their Florence home.

He is charged with one felony count of terroristic threatening.

He is extremely well versed in the history of President Bush, Florence police Capt. Linny Cloyd said. In talking with him, you can tell this is a hot-button topic with him.

Cloyd launched an investigation after Florence Mayor Diane Whalen received an anonymous threatening e-mail. Cloyd and Whalen refused to give a more detailed account of the threats or release the e-mails.

As investigators worked to track down the sender, a second e-mail arrived in Whalen's city e-mail account. That e-mail threatened Bush and was also sent to the White House, Vice President Cheney and the Pentagon.

If the teen was just looking for attention, he certainly got it, said Whalen, who doesn't know the teen or his parents. I think the key thing here is you can't ignore any threat in these times.

Cloyd went to the teen's home Monday evening with agents from the FBI and Secret Service.

He is a student of the present administration, Cloyd said. He described the teen as in tune with current political affairs.

We asked him what brought him to this point, Cloyd said. He didn't have an answer he was willing to share with us.

Cloyd said the teen's parents consented to a search of the home, and investigators did not find anything, such as weapons, that led them to believe the teen was intending to carry out the threats.

Investigators seized a computer from the home. Cloyd said additional charges might hinge on what's recovered from the hard drive.

Mom was shocked, Cloyd said. That would lead me to believe, if the parents are politically active, it isn't in the same manner at all. He said the teen acted alone, and there is no evidence anyone else is involved

Investigators said the teen will appear in Boone Family Court within two weeks.

He hasn't been officially charged

so it's all just hearsay at this point.  This is all a witch hunt pure and simple, however, everytime dems open up Pandora's box they are the ones who really get burned by it.

I'm not saying people who do something illegal and are found guilty shouldn't be punished Dem. or Rep. alike, but when people start opening up other people's closets they better be darn sure their's are squeaky clean....

those boys were not charged with a racist crime -
they were charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, and theft.

According to what I read, they cannot be charged with a hate crime because Obama is a political figure and therefore it would be considered a "free speech" issue and not a hate crime. If he were an everyday citizen, then he could be charged with a hate crime.

Either way, for Palin and Obama, it was repulsive to me!
You must be a terrific parent and I
vote you "Parent of the Year."  That was a beautiful post.
A parent can preach all they want to........ sm
but most times kids will stray from that teaching whether through pure rebellion or in an effort to make their own way. Sometimes they return to their parents' teaching, sometimes they don't.

Did you follow your parents' teaching to the letter? Did you follow all their rules? I doubt it very seriously. I know I didn't, but as I have grown older and have raised 2 boys myself, I now see the value in the teachings of my parents.

I agree with sbMT and others here who have said that it is sad that you find such happiness in others' troubles. I hope you are never disappointed by your own kids, and if you are, I certainly hope no one else finds joy in your misery.

if you are there and know about the visit
this is not what I am talking about.
I am not a redneck parent, I am waaaaay over 30, and...
I have a LOT of life experience. I also am NOT voting for Obama. Why?? because he is black..no, because he has no experience...no. It is because I WORKED HARD FOR MY MONEY. I am NOT going to give it to somebody who has an "entitlement" mentality and has been sucking off the public teat since forever. THat is why I am not voting for obama.

And for you to make a comment like that is uncalled for. But you are entitled to your opinion.
really, sex education is the parent's responsibility...
in my opinion. Also, I am sure that the poor quality of the educational system as a whole also contributes to this high rate of pregnancy in teens and we all know that low income teens are more likely to get pregnant and Mississippi is a poor state. I think that there are several contributing factors and it is very difficult to isolate just one. However, before anyone gets too upset, I am not against educating kids about safe sex, I just think that abstinence should be included, as well, which it was not in my California high school.
But can parent sacrifice their child to the military?

that was the question...

Filipino Charged With Spying Worked in White House

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

NEWARK, N.J. — An FBI intelligence analyst charged last month for passing classified information about Filipino leaders (search) to current and former officials of that nation retrieved the information from the White House, FOX News has confirmed.

Originally reported by ABC News, FBI and CIA officials are saying this is the first case of espionage from within the White House in modern times.

The alleged spy, Leandro Aragoncillo (search), worked undetected for nearly three years. He was most recently assigned to work with Vice President Dick Cheney.

Aragoncillo was a Marine for 21 years.

On Sept. 12, it was reported that the former FBI analyst, who was stationed at Fort Monmouth (search) in New Jersey, has been sending classified information since January, according to an FBI complaint.

Investigators found that between May and August Aragoncillo printed or downloaded 101 classified documents relating to the Philippines (search), of which 37 were classified Secret, the complaint said.

The White House would not comment on the case and only said that it was cooperating, FOX News has learned.

(Story continues below)

At the time of the arrest in September, officials did not describe the nature of the documents. Court filings said the records included intelligence on a defense treaty and the U.S. assessment of the political situation in the Pacific Rim country.

Aragoncillo was ordered held without bail last month following an appearance before U.S. Magistrate Patty Shwartz (search).

Aragoncillo's family members attending the hearing declined to speak with reporters.

The defendant was to face a charge of conspiracy and a charge of acting as an unregistered foreign agent, the latter of which carries a sentence of up to 10 years and a $250,000 fine. Aragoncillo also was charged with unauthorized use of a government computer, which carries a sentence of up to 10 years and a $250,000 fine.

The Associated Press and The Newark Star-Ledger contributed to this report.

Agents' visit chills UMass Dartmouth senior
By AARON NICODEMUS, Standard-Times staff writer

NEW BEDFORD -- A senior at UMass Dartmouth was visited by federal agents two months ago, after he requested a copy of Mao Tse-Tung's tome on Communism called The Little Red Book.
Two history professors at UMass Dartmouth, Brian Glyn Williams and Robert Pontbriand, said the student told them he requested the book through the UMass Dartmouth library's interlibrary loan program.
The student, who was completing a research paper on Communism for Professor Pontbriand's class on fascism and totalitarianism, filled out a form for the request, leaving his name, address, phone number and Social Security number. He was later visited at his parents' home in New Bedford by two agents of the Department of Homeland Security, the professors said.
The professors said the student was told by the agents that the book is on a watch list, and that his background, which included significant time abroad, triggered them to investigate the student further.
I tell my students to go to the direct source, and so he asked for the official Peking version of the book, Professor Pontbriand said. Apparently, the Department of Homeland Security is monitoring inter-library loans, because that's what triggered the visit, as I understand it.
Although The Standard-Times knows the name of the student, he is not coming forward because he fears repercussions should his name become public. He has not spoken to The Standard-Times.
The professors had been asked to comment on a report that President Bush had authorized the National Security Agency to spy on as many as 500 people at any given time since 2002 in this country.
The eavesdropping was apparently done without warrants.
The Little Red Book, is a collection of quotations and speech excerpts from Chinese leader Mao Tse-Tung.
In the 1950s and '60s, during the Cultural Revolution in China, it was required reading. Although there are abridged versions available, the student asked for a version translated directly from the original book.
The student told Professor Pontbriand and Dr. Williams that the Homeland Security agents told him the book was on a watch list. They brought the book with them, but did not leave it with the student, the professors said.
Dr. Williams said in his research, he regularly contacts people in Afghanistan, Chechnya and other Muslim hot spots, and suspects that some of his calls are monitored.
My instinct is that there is a lot more monitoring than we think, he said.
Dr. Williams said he had been planning to offer a course on terrorism next semester, but is reconsidering, because it might put his students at risk.
I shudder to think of all the students I've had monitoring al-Qaeda Web sites, what the government must think of that, he said. Mao Tse-Tung is completely harmless.

Sara Palin most DEFINITELY needs a visit
I'm sure she and her wacked-out family would be nothing but fodder for fun.
No parent can sign up their "child", none of which are "children" anymore BTW.

As a parent I do not think I need the government to encourage my child to be productive...

Man, Am I good or what? - American Girl

Some of the very things they rail about re Homeland Security and invasion of personal privacy seem to be personal character attributes. I decided not to go and read on the libs board anymore. There is no logital debate, except among my liberal friends in "real" life who seem to have grown up a long time ago. At any rate, I have great respect for you, as you know. And I consider you a friend. I will certainly toast to you, as well. Ginger Ale for me. Have a great holiday weekend.

And I can visit Europe and actually TALK to people, without
How refreshing will THAT be? To not be embarrassed to death about what country we live in?
You should come back and visit the real world sometime
Must be nice to live in a delusional world blaming things on a past president, unless of course that president is a crat, and then you blame the previous one. And on top of that you blame past president and praise the current president for the stock market fluctuance. DH works in stocks/trading. He knows how markets are manipulated. Nothing to do with the pres. Come back sometime though and visit us in the real world and realize that the market goes up and down on daily basis. So you are correct in your post. I'd definitely look into what you eluded to. We'd miss you here if you don't get better. - Be well.
I urge everyone to visit a website called optruth.org

The following was copied from the website:

Operation Truth is a non-profit 501c(4), non-partisan veterans' organization that seeks to amplify the soldiers' voice in the American public dialogue. Paul Rieckhoff, a First Lieutenant in the Army Reserves, founded Operation Truth in June 2004, only months after he returned from a year-long tour in Iraq. As of January 2005, Operation Truth represents well over 300 OEF/OIF veterans, and has over 26,000 supporters.

This web site is a real eye opener.

How could there be doctor/patient communication issues during a preventative healthcare visit if -
the patient isn't participating in preventative healthcare?  The reason I offered is not something I came up with myself.
