about the whole thing as well. We are all entitled to our opinions, but let's remember that behind these screen names sits a real person with people who love them. Every one of us has value and something to add to this world. EVEN McCain and Palin are valuable citizens and have something to contribute, even if not from the White House. Obama, although I personally do not agree with his policies in general, will probably be good for our country in many ways. I am giving him a chance in my heart because I know that we all have to stick together. I wish him well and hope that we are a better country because of him, eventually...

Have a good day, MTs!!

Best post of the thread, Kaydie. nm

okay - Kaydie - I bite - what was your post?
I am white - but I have a black husband, 4 biracial stepchildren, 2 biracial grandchildren, 2 black brother-in-laws, and 4 biracial nieces and nephews. So I am definitely not racist, but sometimes I say things that get taken that way.

I am an Obama supporter at this point, but it is most definitely not because he is a black man. I was really sitting on the fence to be honest until McCain picked Palin - and I am sorry, but I just cannot see her in charge of this country and anything good coming out of that...
I agree, Kaydie. Great post!!! Thank you for serving
the USA.  My family and I appreciate you!

I don't usually post here but feel strongly about this one sm
I'm a progressive Dem but I think Hillary is the only way Democrats can lose this election. I don't know a single Dem who likes her, at least in my area (WA state). She is such a divisive character (due to the Bill haters) that "central America" doesn't want her in any way, shape or form. At least that's what I see.
Very wise post - you are right on with how I feel
And so many of us out there. His calming demeanor...yes most definitely. He has a soothing and reassuring voice. If I was in an accident or something like that his voice would be very reassuring and calming, but everything else I agree with you.

I loved your post. Thanks.
Great post - you said what a lot of us feel
It is sad that people don't learn from history, and they don't care if we have another dictator or that the country goes to shreds. Just as long as a republican was not voted in. Unfortunately people are too ig to even care what happens to the country. It's like watching children cheat at a game and they don't care how it affects other people, as long as they win.
Great post!! I, too, feel the need...

...to take a shower after reading all the slime on this board.

These people cannot understand the simple concept of HAPPINESS and HOPE for the future.  I think they were all counting on Bush to bring in the "Rapture," and it looks like he maybe won't do that.  He does still have a few days left, though, to do more damage.

I'll check back in a month or so and see if it's still worth coming here.  At the moment, with this board so overwhelmed with hatred, rage and jealousy, the slime is just too ugly and brings me down too much.

There are many more happy places to be.

I must say when I saw all those people in support of Obama/Biden today, I was the proudest American I've ever been in my life.  I just fear that someone who believes just like the anti-Americans on this board will actually penetrate one of those lines and kill him, "for the good of the country."

Maybe Bush is counting (planning?) for that to happen.

I feel the need to answer on this board regarding this post. SM

You could not possibly have done an in depth research of the Protest Warriors.  They are no more pro war than God is.   They do believe in the right to bear arms, part of our Constitution, by the way.  I know how deeply offended you must be by seeing pictures of those who own guns defying your agenda to take them away from them, despite what the Constitution says.  They are pro-Israel and believe, as I do, in the Israeli state.  They are Jewish.  I am not.  While doing your selective in-depth review of their web site, did you happen to view any of the videos.  Two?  Even one?   I am thinking you probably didn't.  Protest Warriors expose the left for what they have become.  Shrill, violent apologists for terrorists.  Anti-American shills for the very people who want us dead.  If you viewed the videos, you would know that.  But you don't want to know that I am sure.  Please stop speaking about something you obviously know nothing about.  I am the member you spoke about. I don't know anyone else who posts on the boards who has admitted to being a member.

This guy is AWESOME!

And from what I've read about him, it would be really hard to *Swiftboat* this guy (not that they'd let facts get in the way of their smear campaigns).  If the election were held today, he'd be my choice, as well.

I don't have time to really reply to all points here (I'm working again now... just took a few minutes off to watch the press conference).

I didn't make the original post about the stock market, although I did give a shout out.

I know there are casualties in every administration. Everyone has a different story to tell, none of which may have any impact by the government.

Thanks for your extensive response and I hope to be able to respond better later.
Awesome....(sm)

Yet another rambling session and yet....something is missing.  Oh, that's right.  What's missing is the fact that you can't back up the claim that was made.  The question was "what regulations."  Your answer thus far is seemingly...the ones that he might put in place...the onces that are in a supposed hidden agenda....the ones that only I can see....

In other words....the claim that small businesses are laying off people as a direct result of Obama legislation is nothing but BS spouted out by the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly and regurgitated by the likes of you.  Thank you for proving my point.  You know, the thing that absolutely cracks me up about this board is that when people like you are asked a direct question, 9 times out of 10 you can't provide a valid answer.  Why is that...I wonder...LOL.

Strike 3...

I think he's awesome...(sm)

I think he is a litte awkward on TV, but I think it's absolutely hilarious.  However, he is absolutely dead on with the issues.

I have an awesome deal right now too (sm)

My husband is a firefighter so we have insurance through the city (BC/BS).  That's a relief all by itself!  However, the city has gone one step further for its employees.  They provide FOR FREE a clinic where you can go for the small stuff (cuts, colds, UTIs, etc).  They also provide city employees with FREE medicine so long as they carry it.  It has to be generic, but it's such a huge help.  What this service provides us:  For me:  lipid-lowering agent, happy pills, sleeping pills, and PPI.  For my husband:  Blood pressure medication and PPI.

They did this because it is actually cheaper for them in the long run to provide this service to their employees with health maintenance drugs, thereby reducing the added cost to the insurance from people not being able to afford this medication and ending up in the hospital which in the long run increases the cost of insurance.  I just hope they can continue to do this.

Obama is doing an awesome job!!!!
It's nice to have a president who can go overseas and not come back with the imprint of an Adidas sole in his forehead...
Yes, his speech was awesome, wasn't it?

You ROCK! That is an awesome summary! :-)

my doc is so awesome -- sees me for free
i am so blessed.  knows i don't have insurance, doesn't bill me.  says if i pay for Rx's and lab work, he won't charge me.  and, unbelievably, spends at least 60 to 90 minutes with me talking -- just amazing.  small office, just doc, secretary and nurse.  says he's not in it to be a millionaire.  (put himself thru med school, 1 of 12 kids in his family.)  i even know the names of his cats and all of his hobbies.  he's in his mid 50s and i hope he never retires...
I guess he is awesome if your standards are
Personally, I think he is a traitor and I hope he gets fired!
That is awesome. No more stealing our election! Gobama!

Awesome, thanks. Now I have a list of companies to patronize.

Actually, the list was more a list of individuals who made contributions towards passing prop 8.  Seems silly to boycott an entire organization because one guy or gal who happens to be employed there contributed to passing prop 8.  Just goes to show you that gay right's activitists lack a certain amount of intelligence.

Awesome, thanks for posting, we fought and won the Revolution......sm
against all odds, a bunch of farmers with old muskets and pitchforks in Condord and Lexington, we were rabble, but we beat the British Empire, the greatest empire of its time, not once but twice to maintain our freedom. If we can get that mindset back, then yes we can, we can free ourselved from the tyrany of elitism, suppression of the middle class, and overhaul our social and banking systems. We fought to create and maintain this country, we now have to fight to save it from becoming a sad third-world country, a wasteland. We went from being a "Beacon of Hope" to a laughingstock among nations.
You feel someone should be forced to do something they feel is wrong? sm
Sounds like communism to me.
Awesome. Taft, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover

believe me, I feel the same way. word is, they want her out of NY, too. They are sorry they voted for her. I just don't see her stepping down from the race gracefully. I figure they have to offer her something really big and I don't see her as obama's vp, unless he is hiring a food taster. I can't believe any medical personnel would vote for her after she said nurses were highly overpaid and underworked - I have seen those girls so tired they can't make it home without pulling over to snooze. AND she just said a couple of months ago that we had already made inroads on health care costs by outsourcing med. tx's and in the same speech promised to bring jobs back to the USA, go figure.
Thank you Kaydie. (sm)
Great post. Very intelligent and well written.
Hi Kaydie
Thanks for your reply and for giving me your viewpoint.

As for voting, I've felt the same way that you do... no one cares what little old me thinks about the next president, but they'll let me vote so I think I have a say so. But I've decided that I need to participate "just in case".

On the religion side, I think that is where so much of the hatred towards Christians lie, in the "intolerance". You see we are taught that Christ IS the only way to heaven and to God, and other religions ARE wrong. If we didn't believe that 100%, we would not really be Christians, because the Bible teaches us that (my preacher is very good about not straying from the bible or misusing verses, and has said time and time again that if he does he expects to be immediately corrected). The Bible is the unerring word of God, written by man, but inspired by Him.

The problem is, you can't just walk up to a Muslim or Jew or anyone else and say "hey, your religion is wrong, because this is what mine says!" because they can immediately say the same thing to you, and if that is your only argument then your going to argue in circles with them.

That's why I believe it is so important to study other religions. Not to believe in them, but to be able to have an intelligent debate with them.

A big thing I notice is that people now a days believe that "to tolerate" means to also believe in. Like because I'm Christian I should believe that Christ is the way to heaven, but so is being a Muslim, Jew, etc. But that contradicts us horribly. To tolerate, according to Webster's, is to "to allow the existence, presence, practice, or act of without prohibition or hindrance; permit. " Basically, to respect others religions. I respect Muslims, Buddhists, Catholics, Jews, and their views. But I respectfully disagree with them. If one of them wanted to talk with me, I wouldn't just shove my fingers in my ears and say "la LA la la la i'm right your wrong" but I would talk with them and since I believe that Christ is the only way to heaven, I would give them my viewpoints and my reasons for believing this, and maybe they would accept. Maybe not. That's all we can do as Christians, state our case. It's between God and that person to do the rest.

So basically I think that's why people feel that Christians are intolerant. I know a lot of us don't want to even accept other religions as being in existence, but they are, and we have to learn to be respectful in presenting the Gospel to those of other religions.

If you want a good study check out Josh McDowell's "A verdict that demands a truth". It's not a book to sit down and read with a cup of coffee, it's more like a text book. But it picks into every corner of the "why?" of Christianity. It is really worth it to read!

Thank you so much, Kaydie -
I could already tell so much of a difference in my "boy" - in fact, I think he was gone and I got a "man".

He enlisted in the reserves, decided to go active, but they sent him on to basic and said for him to finish the paperwork when he comes out of AIT so he could go active, but now he has decided to just stay in the reserves and go to college with an ROTC program so he can leave the reserves and enlist as an officer - hopefully, he can be all he wants to be!
Also, Kaydie -
Katterbach/Ansbach is where I lived when I was there. I also lived in Bamberg for about 6 months. My uncle lived in Ansbach and I lived with him for awhile and then moved to Bamberg to live with my husband.
And Kaydie, what exactly does that mean?
??
Kaydie

Gosh, till bashing Obama.

In your posts, you have commented on Obama's race, you have commented that he plays the race card which he never has, and you connected his name to Adolf Hitler, all things a racist would do.  It just dawned on me that you are a racist.  If Caspar the Friendly Ghost were running for President, you would vote for him  because he is white.

You commented that you hate McCain but you don't know who to vote for.  That is because the alternative to McCain would be voting for a black man who would be in the White House!

If you look at Obama through non-racist vision, you might see more clearly.

Kaydie -
Off the subject of politics, but wanted to tell you something about stereotyping.

I am a 39 year old white woman and am in college. I was in the bookstore talking to the manager and clerk one day during a break, just hanging out, and the subject got on the men in our life. Well, my boyfriend is black. When that fact came out in the conversation, both of their jaws dropped and almost simultaneously they stated that they never would have guessed that because I did not "look like I would date a black man". They went on to talk about how professional I look, how I speak as a professional, and present myself as professional.

you go kaydie -

You know what Kaydie?
You are a perfect example of McCain/Palin strategy.  Scare, scare, scare.  Your constant harping "till the cows come home" gets really old.  How about "Joe the Plumber/"  Do you REALLY think he wasn't a plant by the McCain group?  Know what my husband said?  "He looks like a dam*ed skin head."  hmmmmm  My husband is also a Viet Nam vet and he will not vote for McCain.  If you think I'm opinionated you ought to get him going.  LOL
