PALIN is more qualified? Of course she is, but

Hatred is only shown by repubs on this board. PALIN IS NOT QUALIFIED and it has nothing to do with
nm
Obama not qualified??

SInce you state he is NOT qualified....AND YOU ARE??

Oh, and Obama is more qualified? Please
nm
yeah, and Obama isn't qualified to be in the top
nm
Palis is more qualified than OBAMA even is!
nm
I suppose you think Obama IS qualified?
nm
Incoming junior senator from Illinois Burris more qualified/more experience than Obama...
just the facts, ma'am.
I dont hate Obama. I just dont see him as qualified
nm
Then we would be as well off with Palin as with Obama...
in fact, better. He doesn't have any foreign policy experience either...nor any executive experience...has never run anything in his life. He is a rookie on all levels. She has made executive decisions. She ran a state with a big state budget. She made executive decisions every day. Obama has made zero. She is already ahead of him. So...what was your point again?
Palin won't be debating Obama....
vice-president.
I think Palin is being compared to Obama ... sm
More than Biden because McCain is 72 years old (and looking older and more confused and befuddled each day, IMO) and to be realistic, he could very well die not long after being elected, which would immediately make Palin our president. That would be a disaster.

Not even a month ago, few people outside of Alaska had even heard of her. The country is still in the process of getting to know her which isn't happening very quickly because she's not doing any hardhitting interviews - unheard of for a politician at that level (or at least unheard of for a politician who doesn't have anything to hide...)

Come on, she's a politician, she's tough. I'm certain she's up to the interviews, but I find it suspicious that the McCain campaign isn't letting her do those interviews. They are controlling that situation, for what? They don't want her to make a mistake and look bad? They all do that!

I think a lot of people were initially attracted to her with the excitement of a fresh new face, 1st woman VP the Repubs ever nominated, and she's pretty, perky, has a beautiful family, etc. It is exciting. But as more is learned about her past and her idealogy, people I know are going "Oh wait a second, she did what, wants to do what, believes WHAT?! Oh, I don't think so!" I think that's why her poll numbers went up so fast, and have now gone back down so fast. (Actually, I think that's why she isn't doing the interviews, they wanted to keep the excitement and novelty going as long as possible.)

Me personally, I don't hate her. Hate is strong word. I just don't want her anywhere near the White House, esp. as our president.

My biggest problem with her is her extreme religious views. I will freely admit that I am very biased towards people with extreme fundamental religious beliefs. I do not understand or relate to their thinking. I am much more comfortable with people who are "brainy" and scientific, who look at facts and evidence in making their decisions, and I am extremely uncomfortable with anyone who makes decisions based on magical thinking, because they think it's "God's will" or something of that nature. There is just no reasoning with someone like that. We've already had a pres. like that (Bush) and it's been a nightmare.

IMO, people with extreme fringe religious beliefs belong on the fringe, not ruling the free world in the highest office of our land.

I'd rather seen Palin as President than Obama - sm
At least she has more experience than he does running anything. The only thing he ran is dealing out money he recieved from Ayers to radical schools (and this was NOT for history, english or math programs).
Sorry, Palin ain't my thing.....neither is Obama
xx
Anyone can look up info on Obama as I did yesterday on Palin.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama#State_legislator.2C_1997.E2.80.932004

Everybody keeps talking about little experience. Well they both do not have the experience to be President and neither does McCain. I do not think any candidate is REALLY READY to take on that position. They all make PROMISES and do things just to get our votes and then they do what they want anyway once they get into office, any office. I am a Democratic and just have no idea who to vote for. I hate nasty politics. Does this accomplish anything?? NO
Right!!! People are so nasty to Palin, yet Obama

Obama and the Palin Effect (by Deepak Chopra) sm

Obama and the Palin Effect

Deepak Chopra - September 04, 2008

Sometimes politics has the uncanny effect of mirroring the national psyche even when nobody intended to do that. This is perfectly illustrated by the rousing effect that Gov. Sarah Palin had on the Republican convention in Minneapolis this week. On the surface, she outdoes former Vice President Dan Quayle as an unlikely choice, given her negligent parochial expertise in the complex affairs of governing. Her state of Alaska has less than 700,000 residents, which reduces the job of governor to the scale of running one-tenth of New York City. By comparison, Rudy Giuliani is a towering international figure. Palin's pluck has been admired, and her forthrightness, but her real appeal goes deeper.

She is the reverse of Barack Obama, in essence his shadow, deriding his idealism and exhorting people to obey their worst impulses . In psychological terms the shadow is that part of the psyche that hides out of sight, countering our aspirations, virtue, and vision with qualities we are ashamed to face: anger, fear, revenge, violence, selfishness, and suspicion of "the other." For millions of Americans, Obama triggers those feelings, but they don't want to express them. He is calling for us to reach for our higher selves, and frankly, that stirs up hidden reactions of an unsavory kind. (Just to be perfectly clear, I am not making a verbal play out of the fact that Sen. Obama is black. The shadow is a metaphor widely in use before his arrival on the scene.) I recognize that psychological analysis of politics is usually not welcome by the public, but I believe such a perspective can be helpful here to understand Palin’s message. In her acceptance speech Gov. Palin sent a rousing call to those who want to celebrate their resistance to change and a higher vision.

Look at what she stands for:
--Small town values -- a denial of America's global role, a return to petty, small-minded parochialism.
--Ignorance of world affairs -- a repudiation of the need to repair America's image abroad.
--Family values -- a code for walling out anybody who makes a claim for social justice. Such strangers, being outside the family, don't need to be heeded.
--Rigid stands on guns and abortion -- a scornful repudiation that these issues can be negotiated with those who disagree.
--Patriotism -- the usual fallback in a failed war.
--"Reform" -- an italicized term, since in addition to cleaning out corruption and excessive spending, one also throws out anyone who doesn't fit your ideology.

Palin reinforces the overall message of the reactionary right, which has been in play since 1980, that social justice is liberal-radical, that minorities and immigrants, being different from "us" pure American types, can be ignored, that progressivism takes too much effort and globalism is a foreign threat. The radical right marches under the banners of "I'm all right, Jack," and "Why change? Everything's OK as it is." The irony, of course, is that Gov. Palin is a woman and a reactionary at the same time. She can add mom to apple pie on her resume, while blithely reversing forty years of feminist progress. The irony is superficial; there are millions of women who stand on the side of conservatism, however obviously they are voting against their own good. The Republicans have won multiple national elections by raising shadow issues based on fear, rejection, hostility to change, and narrow-mindedness.

Obama's call for higher ideals in politics can't be seen in a vacuum. The shadow is real; it was bound to respond. Not just conservatives possess a shadow -- we all do. So what comes next is a contest between the two forces of progress and inertia. Will the shadow win again, or has its furtive appeal become exhausted? No one can predict. The best thing about Gov. Palin is that she brought this conflict to light, which makes the upcoming debate honest. It would be a shame to elect another Reagan, whose smiling persona was a stalking horse for the reactionary forces that have brought us to the demoralized state we are in. We deserve to see what we are getting, without disguise.

Who cares what Palin, McCain, Obama, or Biden
all the cheating and lying going on in the O camp and 'ole Biden stabbing his running mate in the back isn't a good sign at all. But, no surprise there. Biden had said very early on he didn't care for Obama and that he would like to be McCain's running mate. Can't twist that one no matter how you try.

I'll always know Biden isn't so easily fooled by Obama either but just looking for a foot in the door of the White House to run in four years.

Obama's response to Palin family baby stories

Here is Obama's response on all the Palin family stories swirling around.  He said he would fire any staffer found to be stoking the fires on these stories.  I agree with him 100%:

Politico's Carrie Budoff Brown reports: At a press avail in Monroe, Mich., Barack Obama on Palin: "Back off these kinds of stories."

"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor and/or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics."

Obama is going to save us.. .it will take time... NO MORE PALIN hahahahaha no more RABIDS nm
nm
How is she more qualified? nm
nm
There are too many other qualified people
No on Hillary. She should be allowed no where near the white house. There are way so many other people out there that are qualified. She is not. And if your husband is impeached he too should not be allowed anywhere near the white house. All Barack needs is to be constantly looking over his shoulder trying to figure out what those two are up to.
Biden is even less qualified.......sm
the only thing he can say without screwing it up is "HI! I'm Joe Biden!!!"

I know - how silly that we should know whether he is qualified.
x
She is more than qualified, so what is the problem?
At least Nancy Pelosi spends her time constructively rather than just spewing hatred and anger like some people.
Qualified to lead the country? How?
nm
Personally don't think she is qualified but, more importantly.....
as a mother, my biggest concern would be for her children. Most former presidents children were closer to adulthood and didn't really have much of a life because of their father's political position.

I can't even imagine what life would be like for these young children. Learning at such a young age to be paranoid about everything and everyone around you because your parent may be a target for some sinister plot, which then makes the children a target.

Next issue, motherhood. Again, she has young children. Who is going to be their mother while she is consumed with political dealings? They need their mother.

If she has aspirations for a larger role in the United States government, fine but she should finish the job she started first and raise her children.

And... I personally think that the rumors about the baby are terrible. The girl is 16. So what if it was HER baby and not her mother's.

If it IS true, her parents were probably only trying to protect their daughter.
yeah, and Biden had said O was not qualified to be
nm
okay, she was wrong....he has no "experience" although qualified.

If they weren't qualified - how did they get the loans?
Get real. When I bought my house it took MONTHS to prove my income, the down payment had to sit in my banking account for months, the bank found an old unpaid hospital bill (I was unaware of) that was 10 years old that I had to prove I had insurance at the time and either the hospital screwed up or the insurance company never paid - I almost did not get the loan because of this! So, how do all of these unqualified people, irresponsible people, get home loans when they are so woefully unqualified? Because the lenders didn't give a rats whether or not the person could pay it back. They were boxing these loans together and selling them as securities. Did YOU ever buy a house? Did YOU have to jump through hoops? I sure did and I still have the house. So smoke that!
Maybe CNN and MSLSD aren't qualified to...(sm)
be teabaggers.  They probably are lacking in experience...like Michael Steele.  Is that why he isn't allowed to speak at the teabagger party?  Has he not teabagged enough to become a proficient head teabagger?
Being a POW doesn't make you qualified to run a country
Especially when you don't know the economy, have no ideas (or even care to) help the Americans through the hard times, and especially when you plan to stay at war for the next 100 years. I could go on and on but it would be too long.
39% of people polled feel SP is as qualified as O
nm
Actually, I do have "at least" minimal intelligence, and I think she's just as qualified as
It's not like she was plucked out of the PTA without doing anything else. I can't see that Obama has done anything more than she has besides vote present and campaign.
Does this sound like McCain is qualified to be president?
Well, we've heard the interview now. And John McCain either doesn't know who the Prime Minister of Spain is, thinks Spain is a country in Latin America, or possibly both.

In case, you haven't seen our updates from last night, yesterday John McCain was interviewed on the Florida affiliate of Spanish radio network Union Radio. And in the interview McCain appeared not to know who the Prime Minister of Spain was and assumed he was some anti-American leftist leader from South America.

After the interviewer presses him a couple times on the point and tries to focus him on the fact that Prime Minister Zapatero isn't from Mexico and isn't a drug lord either McCain comes back at her saying, "All I can tell you is that I have a clear record of working with leaders in the Hemisphere that are friends with us and standing up to those who are not. And that's judged on the basis of the importance of our relationship with Latin America and the entire region."

Then there's a moment of awkward pause before she says. "But what about Europe? I'm talking about the President of Spain."

McCain: "What about me, what?

Interviewer: "Are you willing to meet with him if you're elected president?"

McCain: "I am wiling to meet with any leader who is dedicated to the same principles and philosophy that we are for humans rights, democracy and freedom. And I will stand up to those who do not."

At this point, the interviewer gets tongue-tied presumably because she can't get over McCain not knowing what Spain is.
This is true - least qualified of all candidates to be the President
Sorry but sitting in on the senate and voting "present" more times than not, and being a community organizer does not make one qualified to be President. I think its like I heard the other day. When it comes time to vote and we have a war going on, an economy that's crumbling, jobs going overseas, no matter what people say now they are not going to go with someone who is new and inexperienced. They will go with someone who has been in politics, is a war hero, stands up for his fellow americans, and is obviously not for either side. Plus having Gov. Palin is the biggest plus for the ticket. A new face to Washington, hard on the big boys, won't back down, has the intelligence and know how to get our economy back on track, fights for the rights of citizens, and has the experience of balancing a budget, the smarts to know we need to drill here (and not just smooth talk like the dems are giving us). She and Sen. McCain will help bring this country to be energy independent and not let big CEOs walk away with millions while people like us have to pay. I for one among many are very excited to see what good things President McCain and Vice President Palin will be doing for our country.

If your still upset when McCain & Palin win, don't worry though, if you submit your names that you voted for the democrats I'm sure they will let you all pay more in taxes than the rest of us. After all you seem to think Biden was okay in trying to convince you that its your patriotic duty to pay more in taxes when the CEOs and other execs will walk away with money in their pockets (to include Obama, Clinton & Dodd).
I found it pathetic. Tina Fey is more qualified (sm)
than Palin. Can you imagine if McCain wins and then croaks. The chilling thought of her under-educated butt seated in the President's Chair scares the heck out of me! And if it happens, I'm either crossing the Atlantic or the Pacific to find a new homestead.
We do not need a woman in the white house we need a qualified person
Okay, I know I'm going to get some feathers ruffled from my statement but I do not believe the US needs a woman president. I read this post and to me it sounds like your saying just get a women in there and everything will be fixed and will be all better". This is not some mommy kissing a "boo-boo" and making it better (that's what the post sounded like). We are a country and we have some serious problems. A strong "woman" is not going to straighten this mess out. A strong PERSON is going to. Sure there are lots of qualified women to run the country (Hillary is NOT one of them), but I do not believe by hiring a woman the country is going to be fixed and on the right road. We need a strong person. If they happened to be woman or man, black, white, blue or green it doesn't matter. Just get someone strong and whose got a back bone. Who will stand up for the American people and not their own interests. I really dislike and get offended when people say a "woman" will fix all the problems or "we need a women to get us out of the mess that men got us in". Men didn't get us into the problems we're in "human beings" did - and there are a lot of women sitting in seats they are not qualified to be sitting in and are part of the problem as to why America is in such a mess. Using the statement that a woman will fix everything is quite childish and very demoralizing, patronizing, and insulting to me as a woman. I do believe there are a few women out there who could probaby do an okay job, but I just want a strong person in there who has some back bone and a conscious and will do the right thing and follow the constitution. Hillary definitely did not and would not. She and Bill were so trying to change history and they ignored everything written in the constitution. Give me someone that truly cares about America. Unfortunately I haven't seen a candidate like that since Kennedy. Okay, that's my gripe for the night.
Sarah Palin fans are as whack as Palin.
Even John McCain's top adviser referred to Sarah Palin as a whack job.
Obama's education versus Palin's education
Barack Obama attended Occidental College, but received his undergraduate degree in political science from Columbia University, an Ivy League member currently ranked 9th in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Obama also graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Harvard Law School, where he also served as President of the Harvard Law Review.

Palin spent her first college semester at Hawaii Pacific College, transferring in 1983 to North Idaho College and then to the University of Idaho. She attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska for one term, returning to the University of Idaho to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, graduating in 1987.
Obama bashing versus Palin bashing... sm
Obama will be in the forefront for the next 4 years, assuming the electoral college pans out the way the popular vote did and providing his BC holds up in court.

Palin, on the other hand, has gone back to the frozen tundra. Whether she resurfaces in 2012 remains to be seen, but can't we just wait until then to start in on her?
Vote McCain and Palin! -oh and why does Palin
nm
Palin over Biden any day. Make fun of Palin all you
nm
Sarah Palin makes Sarah Palin look stupid!
The Democrats did not make Sarah Palin look stupid. Sarah Palin does a fine job of looking stupid without help from anyone. All she has to do is open her mouth!
Palin might not have taken it anywhere
but it is not her job to seek taking books off shelves, period.  And you don't know if this is "political crap" or not because the media has not been permitted to ask her any questions.  Once voters get these answers, then they will have the necessary information with which to make a decision as to whether or not this is who we/they want in office.  I, for one, am not going to skew her with a pitchfork or defend her as I have no information with which to do so, either way.  I need answers to these questions that have been floating out there. Questions and answers are very important in our form of government called democracy which is for the people, of the people and by the people.  Freedom comes with a gigantic amount of responsibility, is not to be taken lightly, and is very fragile.
and Palin

accused Hillary of whining when she protested.  Talk about unity among women.

What Palin said is exactly right....
we haven't fought Iraqis since Baghdad fell. We have been fighting the insurgency "Al Qaeda In Iraq" since then. And if I am not mistaken, AL Qaeda was responsible for 9-11.

It appears there are others than Sarah Palin who are "clueless."

Sarah Palin is not running for President. Obama is. ANd he has been running for 18 months. If he had done an interview 3 weeks into it, he would have done no better than she did, and probably worse.

lol.
Why would Palin do this? sm

She banned reporters from her 1st meeting with world leaders.  Only allowed access to photographers and a television crew.  I'm just curious as to if anybody read as to why.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080923/ap_on_el_pr/palin_leaders

Now if only Palin would say....
for the love of Pete.....LOL!  I say that all the time and get teased horribly for it.
Palin

Palin has many shady contacts also:

She has backed the Alaska Independence Party.  Its platform calls for the defense of "states rights," to "seek the complete repatriation of the public lands, held by the federal government, to the state and people of Alaska in conformance with Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17, of the federal constitution." Basically, the AIP wants a vote on secession. The AIP says that Gov. Sarah Palin used to be a member of the party. Earlier this year, Palin recorded a welcoming address to the AIP's convention.

Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."

In an interview of extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll helped launch Palin’s political career in Alaska, and in return had influence over policy. “Her door was open,” says Chryson — and still is.

So, this is group is just one of her past supporters.  They helped her get where she is today.  And dont even get me started on McCain.

Palin
Just dont try to marry into her family and then divorce because then she will come after you with all her power that the VP will give her.  Talk about abuse of power!  They they flat out refuse to testify?  I didnt know anyone had that right.
