Christian, I can see how you would get this opinion of Christians. Some Christians don't present themselves as they should and go to crazy and illegal methods. Let me say that a true Christian who loves Jesus Christ would NOT murder an abortion doctor. No one has that right. The abortion doctor will have to answer for what he has done as will the "so-called" Christian who murdered him. The person who murdered this doctor and those like him are not representative of what a true Christian is and should be.

When I hear stories like this it makes me sad that it has brought such shame upon the name of Christ my Lord. Please do not put us all in the same classification. Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian IS a Christian.

I am a Christian and I love Christ my Lord, but never would anything like this ever enter my mind.

I don't have a problem with the other holidays, but it is discrimination when you can post the other holiday symbols in the public, square, businesses, or schools but you cannot post anything about Christmas or the reason for Christmas which is Christ.

I did not say Obama was a Jew hater. Jesse Jackson said he was. I did not twist Barack Obama's arm and force him to go to a gathering for someone who hates Jews, be close personal friends with someone who hates Jews, and want to sit down and talk with no pre-requisites to a man who has called for the annhilation of Israel. He did that all on his own. Now common sense would tell you "if the winds turn ugly he would fall on the side of Muslims..." Look up THAT quote why don't you. Then it appears to me that his sympathies are NOT with Israel or the Jewish people.

As to what happened at the farewall dinner...I did read the transcript on the LA Times site. It does say that he praised and toasted the man. If that is all that is there, release the tape. Releasing the tape DOES NOT identify the source. That is an excuse. If it was the goods on McCain, every news outlet on the face of the planet would be hammering the LA Times for the tape. They sure didn't mind demanding that the source who outed Plame be revealed did they?

They only trot out "ethics" when it suits them to do so.

He kept going around in circles it made no sense. He kept trying to cover up one lie with another. But what would you expect from a lawyer.

Racism

Racism does not have to be whites not accepting blacks.  It can also be blacks not accepting whites.  And that does happen.  I would not approve of anybody that was trying to be a leader of this great country siding with one or the other.  They need to accept both blacks and whites.  Obviously, Obama does not think that way.  So what, if he was a teen when he wrote these books.  They should never have been published if he does not agree with what is in them. 


All this mess that is going on now did not start with George Bush.  Congress controls this country, with the president having veto power.  The Dems have been in power insofar as Congress goes for the last two years.  But it started even before then. 


Wake up, America!  You think with all our news media announcing to the world what we are getting ready to do that if Iraq had WMD they would not have known what was going on over here and what our plans were and most likely would have moved the WMD to another country.

Will racism play a major roll in this election?  You betcha.  However, you cannot say that people not voting for Obama are racist.  Some of them are, but not all of them.  How many Obama supporters are voting for him just because he is black?  Probably a heck of a lot....so you have racism on both sides here.


Yesterday someone posted and used Barrack Obama's middle name and they were called racist for doing so.  I do not see how this is racist.  It is the man's name.  How can someone be racist for calling him by his name?


I seriously am tired of people playing the race card.  Yes, racism is out there and it will play a part in this election but that most definitely goes on both sides.  You have your wacko people yelling "kill him" at a McCain rally.  The media tried to say it happened again at a Palin rally, but that is untrue.  It was only yelled during a McCain speech.  That was wrong and crazy people like that are way out of line.  They are also giving good people who are McCain supporters bad names.  Then you have Obama's supporters.  There are many good people who are on Obama's side and yet there are those crazy wack jobs on his side as well who are only voting for him because he IS black and most certainly will be screaming racism if Obama should lose.


Both sides are guilty of racism.  Some are afraid of the crazy people yelling "kill him" and others are afraid of crazy Obama supporters rioting if he should lose.  It goes both ways.  So stop blaming one side or the other.  They both have nut job racists.  I'm just tired of hearing about this.

I can't help but wish that everyone making less than $50,000 a year who opposes Obama would take a few moments to sit quietly and really question him/herself about the racial question. If those folks were honest with themselves, really honest, I bet they'd be quite surprised. I can't think of any other reason why folks making $50,000 or less (much less) a year would support the Republicans, just simple racism.

All thru my working life (40-plus years) I've been seeing sneaky racism in the legal and medical fields thru a white woman's eyes and, frankly, I'm thoroughly disgusted with those of us on the paler side of the makeup counter.

On June 28 2007 a young black defendant Mychal Bell was found guilty of aggravated assault against a young white man by an all white jury despite conflicting testimony from witnesses.

His defense lawyer was incompetent at the very least and didn't even call the only adult to witness what happened to the stand. This man's testimony could have concievably blown the prosecuters case out of the water.

Originally the prosecuter tryed to charge Mychal and others with attempted murder for being involved in what was basically a fight and only backed off because of a worlwide public out cry. If you want a definition of racism...
read the creed for Obama's church...and read some of his pastor mentor's sermons...and some of the speeches and quotes of their friend Louis Farrakhan. That, my friend, is the very definition of racism. When you read the creed of the church, substitute the word "white" everywhere the word "black" is used and tell me it is not racist. We do NOT need a racist in the White House.

The point was that if you are preaching change, and you pick the guy who has been a senator for 30-some years and may not LIVE in DC but is certainly part of the DC establishment...that is not change, it is picking "vanilla" meaning generic, and Joe Biden is definitely a generic DC liberal. Definitely not a change from DC politics...which is exactly opposite from what Obama has been saying he wanted to do..get away from politics as usual in DC.

I know who are serving. It will come as no surprise to them. At least you admit that you could care less if it hurts them or not...or worsens their plight or makes their jobs harder...which it does. I will tell them you are of the opinion they just need to pray the protesting works in their favor (and if you think a premature withdrawal, or cut and run, is in their favor that just proves you do not know the majority of the military and how they think), and they just need to suck it up and continue to fight and die to protect your right to tell them to suck it up and just keep on serving, if the war is something they believe strongly in. For you to say that the war is something they believe strongly in also proves that you know nothing about them. They are there because their country sent them there and they believe in the mission. George Bush alone did not send them, no matter how much global amnesia the Democrats want to try to have now. They believe in honor and duty. They believe in something bigger than themselves...they believe there are still things worth dying for...like your right to blythely from your warm safe home to tell them to suck it up, pray the protesting works for them and not against them, because it is more important for you to protest than it is for them to be safer. The least you could have done was a little thank you to go with the suck it up, though.

Just a final thought...just WHO do you think cheers when they hear Americans in the street protesting? The ENEMY. Do you remember the scenes of Arabs taking to the streets in celebration when 9-11 happened? They watch us. Protesting in a public way is fodder for them to recruit. Read an article today saying they are using You Tube videos for recruitment. I bet several of the leading Democratic Pres contenders are stars. But if giving Al Qaeda little moral boosts is what floats the protestors' boats, by all means...grab the sign and head for the corner.

I was sent a newspaper clipping via e-mail, with a list of changes that, according to the actual author, most American people would very much like to see in our Government.

The actual author is Norma White of Amarillo. She is a retired network engineer for Southwestern Bell. I do not know which newspaper it came from, but after reading it, I would vote for her if she ever ran for Congress. I wanted to share them with you all.


The article's title is:

You Want Change? Try These Ideas.

1. Limit Congress from serving more than two terms. That is all that presidents are allowed.

2. Stop Congress from voting for their own raises. How did that ever get started?

3. Stop paying for lawmakers' high-priced insurance premiums. After all, they are only part-time employees. They might pass some law changes on the insurance companies, if they actually had to find one!

4. Stop paying lawmakers, or the president, their full salary after serving just one term, or when they leave office. We need to get rid of that pension plan; they've let other companies get rid of theirs. You were lucky to get 40 to 50 percent of your salary after working somewhere for 35 years, but they get 100 percent.

5. Make Congress pay into the Social Security system. They make laws for it. If they spent some of their own money, then they might be interested in making it solvent.

6. Stop handing out aid to illegal aliens. If we did, then Medicaid and the food stamp program would have enough money to aid the aged and the poor.

7. Secure our borders.

8. Stop allowing babies born to illegal aliens in the United States automatic U.S. citizenship.

9. Stop the abuse of our benevolent welfare system. We feed children free meals three times a day until they are 17. Churches give away good, clean clothes. Companies buy and donate school supplies. Emergency rooms provide health care at taxpayer expense and the food stamp program is buying food at home. What are parents doing for their children?

10. Have a computer program that cross checks Social Security numbers with finger prints to stop fraud on many fronts. Use it on voter registration too.

11. Stop bailing out mortgage companies and banks that give loans to people who cannot afford them.

12. Stop companies from paying CEOs and other executives outrageous salaries and bonuses while doing away with workers' pensions.

13. Stop all unnecessary spending so we will have the money for our nation's security, and to help needy and elderly Americans.

14. Stop permitting anyone to have a photo with their face covered on driver's licenses.

Unfortunately, no matter who won the presidency, they will not be able to make any of these changes.

Only members of Congress can do that, as they are the lawmakers.

I seriously doubt Congress is interested in changing anything, do you?

After our rather heated debate tonight, I went off in search of answers to the questions of Obama's qualifications to be POTUS, and here is what I found. 


The 14th Amendment defines citizenship this way: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." But even this does not get specific enough. As usual, the Constitution provides the framework for the law, but it is the law that fills in the gaps.


Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"


US Code Title 8,1401 states the following as a qualification of a natural-born US citizen.  (http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode08/usc_sec_08_00001401----000-.html).  This is the only qualification that Obama actually passes to qualify to be POTUS, but one is all that is needed as all the qualifications listed are exclusive of each other. 

(d) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year prior to the birth of such person, and the other of whom is a national, but not a citizen of the United States;

Since this does not specify a particular time frame in which the US citizen parent must live in the US prior to the birth of the child, it must be assumed that any one-year residency would satisfy the requirement. 

Somehow crow for Thanksgiving dinner just isn't quite what I had in mind.  Please make sure it is well done with lots of BBQ sauce.

We don't usually rag on hurried typo errors because we have no spell check on this forum.  But not bothering to look up a spelling or making a rookie grammatical error are both noteworthy. 


It does not matter how racism is born...
racism is racism. All whites did not enter into the slavery trade nor discrimination nor condone it, and if it had not been for some fed-up white Republicans like Abe Lincoln slavery would not have been abolished as quickly as it was. And if it had not been for some fed-up white Republicans shoving through the Right to Vote act in the 60's, oppression would certainly be worse still today. So I would be very careful about saying all whites oppressed anyone. And that is what racism is...condemning an entire "race" for perceived injustices or perceived inferiority. To the Nation of Islam, apparently to Obama's church, to Black panthers...there is no good white person. Exactly the way the old south was in reverse. Defend it if you like...it is still virulent racism and should not be condoned for ANY reason.

So, my friend, when you talk about quotas in jobs, quotas in scholarships, being put ahead not because of hard work or actually qualifying for something like a job or a scholarship, please don't whine about how blacks or minorities are oppressed. In today's culture it should strictly be on merit, not on the color of your skin, be that white, black, yellow, red or chartreuse.

And, frankly, your last sentence sounds pretty racist itself.

In a similar vein, here is Limbaugh's mocking take on the NAACP, a group with a ninety-year commitment to nonviolence: "The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

When Carol Moseley-Braun (D-IL) was in the U.S. Senate, the first black woman ever elected to that body, Limbaugh would play the "Movin' On Up" theme song from TV's "Jeffersons" when he mentioned her. Limbaugh sometimes still uses mock dialect -- substituting "ax" for "ask"-- when discussing black leaders.

Such quotes and antics -- many compiled by Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) for our 1995 book -- offer a whiff of Limbaugh's racial sensibility. So does his claim that racism in America "is fueled primarily by the rantings and ravings" of people like Jesse Jackson. Or his ugly reference two years ago to the father of Madonna's first child, a Latino, as "a gang-member type guy" -- an individual with no gang background.
