that torture is okay? Is that what 9/11 has done to America? To become something akin to a bunch of sadistic terrorists? Same thing. Torture is NEVER an answer. This country has gone through MUCH WORSE and has NEVER tortured. To me, it is so sad that the topic is even being discussed. Seems to me that AL Queda has got done what it wanted, to destroy America from the inside-out. Makes me sick to see how far we've gone already.

I remember his opponent, who he trounced soundly, always claimed that people should put their country first . . . not to look forward to being able to say "I told you so" to suffering fellow Americans.

No, he died being a patriot. You know nothing of patriotism. There has been no patriotism since Bush got in office. It's cronyism that's got us here, not patriotism.

when W was in the WH, everyone who disagreed with him was labelled as NOT patriotic, FYI. How quickly one forgets.

Is it okay to show your patriotism at the office?
For one Arlington woman, the answer was "no" after she hung an American flag in her office just before the Memorial Day weekend.
Debbie McLucas is one of four hospital supervisors at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield. Last week, she hung a three-by-five foot American flag in the office she shares with the other supervisors.
When McLucas came to work Friday, her boss told her another supervisor had found her flag offensive. "I was just totally speechless. I was like, 'You're kidding me,'" McLucas said.
McLucas' husband and sons are former military men. Her daughter is currently serving in Iraq as a combat medic.
Stifling a cry, McLucas said, "I just wonder if all those young men and women over there are really doing this for nothing."
McLucas said the supervisor who complained has been in the United States for 14 years and is formerly from Africa. McLucas said the supervisor took down Debbie's flag herself.
"The flag and the pole had been placed on the floor," McLucas said. But McLucas also said hospital higher ups had told her some patients' families and visitors had also complained.
"I was told it wouldn't matter if it was only one person," she said. "It would have to come down."
McLucas said hospital bosses told her as far as patriotism was concerned, the flag flying outside the hospital building would have to suffice.
Kindred Hospital Corporate Headquarters are located in Kentucky. They have yet to make a final decision on the matter. They have not returned our phone calls for comment.
The Kindred Hospital Corporation was chosen as Fortune's most admired for 2009. McLucas hopes they'll back her patriotism.
"I find it very frightening because if I can't display my flag, what other freedoms will I lose before all is said and done," McLucas asked.

disillusionment and resignation, GP. The more I read about the whole BC thing and now hearing that the SCOTUS has delayed the hearing another 5 days, I guess I am resigned to the idea that nothing is going to stand in the way of Obama....not the Constitution and not the voice of the people. I kind of look at the Constitution as I do the Bible and sin. A sin is a sin to God (excepting one) and breaking one part of the Constitution is breaking the whole thing. Call me gloom and doom if you want, but I have come to the realization that we are not living in a democracy or a republic. We are living in a political machine that operates at its whim without regard for our country's most basic foundations.
On the Clinton-Obama front, like I said. It should be interesting, to say the least, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Hillary is getting something more out of this than just the letters SOS out beside her name. There is more that goes on in Washington than is dreamed of by mere residents (I won't even use the word "citizens") of this once great nation.

They'll get it however they can. Check this out. We have a double lot (just enough to keep me busy with a garden...lol). When we bought the place there was a really old shed at the back of the property. It was built probably about 40-50 years ago. This thing was literally falling down, dirt floors.....completely in shambles and definitely not inhabitable. We knew we would have to tear it down when we moved here. So, we noticed on the assessment that 2K of the state assessment was attributed to that shed. Yeah right. We didn't need anything more than a sledge hammer and a crowbar to tear it down. So, after we took it down we had them come out for a re-assessment. They took $200 off the assessment value. Hmmmm..... Yeah, I raised cane with them but it didn't do any good. I've been planning on putting a greenhouse out there. I can't wait to see what happens with that.

My husband spent 7-1/2 yrs in college and got a master's degree, and worked his way through the whole thing at a gas station paying for it himself. We work long hours. There are people who refuse to value education, refuse to work hard, and just want a hand out. That's a fact. There have always been the poor and there always will be. We've poured TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS of dollars into programs for the poor over the last 40 years and the poverty rate is basically the same. To succeed takes effort.

I happened to get a call from the police in Arizona a few months ago. I have always lived in Ohio. It seems someone (several someones actually) had LISTS of people across the country of personal info, account numbers, passwords, email addresses, etc. pretty much everything you need, even machines to make the credit cards and license IDs. Arizona puts the fraudsters away just for having this info without your permission. Apparently they had a large fraud bust out there and they don't waste their time on proving what they did with it. YEA ARIZONA!

The deadline for the merger has been set at 2010. We will completely lose our national sovereignty. The U.S. Constitution, which has already been flushed down the crapper, will be completely moot. I don't think anyone is planning to take money from someone making $30 an hour and dividing it up between someone making $10 an hour so that both would be making $20. That's stretching the "redistribution of wealth" a little far donchathink? On the other hand I wonder if you were making $50,000 a year would you really, really object if the CEO who was doing a sorry job and was being paid say 1 million a year, were to have say a mere $25,000 tax deducted and "redistributed" into your pocket. Anyone want to say they wouldn't be happy to take that little contribution? No? I didn't think so.
