This so reminds me of one of those baby books

people put together for their first kid.  Video of the delivery.  Baby's handprint and footprint. Lock of hair from Baby's first haircut.  Picture of Baby taking his first step.  First tooth Baby loses, and on and on and on.....

What's the followup plan for the 200th day and the 300th?  I'd like to pencil this on my calendar.

as a mother I would not subject my baby, or anyone's baby
to that type of situation. but then again, I am not the kind of mother who agrees with the village raising the child, or whatever Hillary used to say. to me the child's safety would come first above and beyond what I was doing, and I would not expose the baby to all that. that is just me.

mostly I am talking about at the end of her speech when the baby was being passed around and then she eventually grabbed him, half paying attention to him.

it is my opinion but I found it a little troubling and my heart kind of went out to that little baby.
This reminds me of my
who has been married and divorced 4 times who mouths off about gays and *the sanctity of marriage*. LOL Cracks me up every time. Now that's real common sense and logic.

So by this standard, my marriage isn't a *real marriage* because my husband (of 23 years)and I chose not to have children. Good grief!

that reminds me

John Mc said he knew exactly how to find Bin Laden.  Shame he refuses to share his knowledge with the military leaders.

LOL! Reminds me of...

something that occurred about 25 years.  I was working in a law office, and one of the newer attorneys was reading a medical report that contained the word "cephalgia."  He almost started jumping up and down, really excited because (I think) it was such a "big word."

He asked if anyone had any medical background.  I said I had a little bit, and he asked me what cephalgia meant.

I said, "Well, let's see:  "Algia" means pain.  "Ceph" means pain, so pain in the head -- HEADACHE!"

I was relating this to a court reporter friend of mine who then asked me what I would call an analgesic.

I said, "Well, using my "formula," I guess it means "pain in the butt"!

That reminds me of the 2.....(sm)
girls in N. Korea.  I don't remember his name right off, but one guy that went there and talked to some N. Korean officials on their behalf was asking about the girls' welfare.  The response from the N. Koreans was "we aren't Gitmo."
So far as I know there is not a law on the books...
against killing cattle...or hogs...but there IS one about killing humans.
Reminds me of a story. s/m
Wealthy (Republican no doubt) race horse breeder sent his prize horse to England with his trainer for an important race.  Being frugal (or a tightwad) breeder told trainer to send him a telegram and let him know how the horse did in the race but to keep it brief to save money.  By and by the breeder received a telegram which said "SFSFF."  Upon his return home the breeder gleafully met the trainer and demanded to know how much money he had won.  The trainer reported that he had won nothing.  The breeder said, "but I got your telegram, SFSFF, started first, slowed, finished first."  " No, no, no said the trainer, SFSFF, started first,  stumbled, farted, fell."
no pie for you...just denial...that reminds me of...

an event that took place during the Iraq war (not sure of the date, but I'm sure some of you will remember it).  There was an Iraqi child who was (as well as many others) caugt in a bombing raid.  It was all over the news about how the US military had given him provisional care and transported him from place to place, trying to get him to a place where he could be treated appropriately.  Unfortunately (like many other Iraqi civilians) he eventually died.  This in itself was not that remarkable, especially considering at the time the US was lobbing bombs into Iraq with the precision of a pumpkin-chunkin contest.  What was remarkable, however, was when the doctor who was caring for the child came out and told the news of his death to the world.  There were several questions entertained by the doctor from reporters, but the one that really struck home for me was one from a US reporter.  The question was, do you think the boy understood what we are trying to do here?  The boy that died was all of about 4 or 5 years old.

Not long after, the US decided to not show casualties in the news.  The government unfortunately was right in assuming the out of sight, out of mind thing would work.  It's amazing just how naive Americans can be.

This is a perfect example of what you would call American pride, honor, etc.  Nevermind the people who die, just make sure we look good doing it.  Again, I am not negating the value of the American soldiers here, they are simply doing what they've been told to do.

When you talk about soldiers helping the Iraqi people, exactly how are they helping them?  Are they bringing them food and medicine because we have destroyed their infrastructure?  Are they helping them find a place to stay because their house played catch with a US missle?  Or are we just taking care of their kids because we took mommy and daddy to a torture camp?  Believe me, we are doing much more harm than help.  Have you noticed that Iraqi civilian casualties far outnumber the casualties of American soldiers?  Where's the help for that?

And yes, I did have someone serving in Iraq.

Reminds me of the last joke

our dad ever played on us, and it was at his own funeral many years ago.  The guy was a hoot.  Mom had died the year before, so my sister (same Norm Crosby sister) remembered exactly where in the cemetery the double-wide grave was.

Dad’s procession wound through the grounds – he had a lot of friends, so it was a long parade.  The hearse stopped at the newly prepped grave with the canopy over it.  Our limo pulled up behind it.  My sister said, ‘This is the wrong place.’  Her husband said, ‘Nah, this looks like it.’  I had no recollection.  The pallbearers opened the hearse and started hauling the casket out and my sister made her husband go up and tell them to stop.  This was ALL WRONG.  So, they shoved the casket back in, and closed the doors.  Now you see it.  Now you don’t.

All the people behind us started to get our of their cars, and mill around.  My sister went up there and now I could see a lot of gesturing and pointing.  She’s pointing way that-a-way and the cemetery crew are shaking their heads and pointing this-a-way.  So there was an intermission while somebody went to the office for a map.

Now we have the map spread out on the hood of the hearse.  Nobody else in the crowd really knows what’s going on,  and sure enough, wrong grave.  Dad almost got himself interred for eternity next to some other woman.  You’d have to know my dad (and my mom) to get the joke.

We agreed to have the graveside service there, but then he had to be moved to where the backhoe would shortly be hastily digging the grave in the proper location.

On the ride back in the funeral home limo we were giggling uncontrollably.  Her husband thought it was in very poor taste.  The limo driver kept remarking on what good sports we were.  Truly, dad almost got away with it.  You just hadda be there!

This reminds me of the time
I asked a muslim man why, if there is a god, are there 100s if not 1000s of children being raped and murdered mercilessly as we speak and he said to me: "Because in a prior life, the children were bad people and they deserve this punishment."

No God would let a child suffer so. This is a godless world and you are on a piece of cosmic debris which happens to have every element necessary to support life.

Thoughts go to the Jehovahs Witnesses and the 7th Day crowd who do not vote nor care about the planet nor the people on it because they are convinced the next world is more important than this one.

Kind of reminds me............ sm
of the polls taken during the election when people who voted for Obama were asked questions about him and either could not answer them correctly or agreed with statements that were "dressed up" to appear to be related to Obama but were, in fact, about McCain/Palin.

I stand by my original thoughts....folks, for the most part, had no idea about who they were voting for. Either that, or they were just being really polite to the pollster! LOL
I thought there was already a law on the books about...
the drivers licenses...I thought that was already passed as a law, to be implemented by 2008? What I read about it, it is not actually a national driver's license per se, but makes the states comply with the same set of rules (and that IS needed) about dispensing driver's licenses. I didn't read anything about Homeland Security. I guess they could be changing it, as the states were lamenting they thought they could not get ready for it that fast. However, when I moved to the state I now reside in, they were already doing the birth certificate thing and that was four years ago. To change my DL from the state I was moving from to where I moved I had to provide my birth certificate and it had to be the original or a copy with state seal, to prove I was a US citizen. And again, that was four years ago. But, as we all know, not all states are that vigilant.

As to the email and the phone conversations....I think that is blown out of proportion. I don't think the government has the time or the inclination to listen in to everyone's phone calls or read everyone's emails. I would bore them to death in 15 minutes. I was under the impression that they still had to have a judge's order (albeit they can get them much faster) to do that.

Okay...no big government, I get that. Can we extend that to social programs as well, and keep big government out of my pockets, while we are at it?

I think, if you look around, the billionaires in business are regulated. Tat is one of the reasons so much of it went to China (thank you Bill Clinton),and other countries. That's why the billionaires in Hollyweird now go to Canada to make films instead of keeping the money at home (while all the time telling us how much they care about the *common people*). And flying all over creation, which each east to west coast flight dumps more carbon into the atmosphere than a year's worth of most cars. I'm sorry, I don't think liberals are doing a great job on conservation either, Lurker. CLinton and Gore had 8 years to do something...I don't see where they did much either, frankly.

new phone books with

much larger print.

its more than losing books

that concerns me.  It is the mindset that her beliefs are the only true ones and that information and opinions that differ from hers should not be available to United States citizens.  That is down-right mindblowing.

I have not read either of his books, but
I would be interested in seeing the whole paragraph at the very least that these were taken from, and better still the whole chapter. I'm not saying he isn't racist, but you can't just put out a sentence of 2 of what you want people to see.

I have a friend who is like Obama, her mother was white and her father black. All of the things I am reading from your post are somewhat similar to what she has said to me before. She never really felt like she belonged anywhere. She is lighter skinned so some of the black people she knew would question her about that, and she said she too would stop telling people because no matter what she would be treated different by some people. And, I have seen first hand with her, that some white people would treat her terribly because she had a black father. So she would start to have an animosity towards whites. Like he says in that sentence, sometimes she did feel that she would have to prove that she was "black enough" (her words) to some people. To prove that she was loyal to her father's race. Does that make her racist? I don't think so. She said, and I could see too as we grew up together, that it was really confusing to her growing up. She felt like she didn't really belong anywhere. Now, in her 30s, she said she has learned to just be herself for the first time. She is black and she is white, she tries not to associate to either but to both. She said sometimes it is still hard because with some people they want you to be one or the other.

The last part you have from Dreams of My Father - what is wrong with that? I am taking from it he is trying to be his own man, not trying to be like white men or brown men, and that he all the things he looks up to about being a black man are from the men listed.

The last sentence, like I said I would like to see the whole paragraph or section. But I have just 1 question for you - what is wrong with being a Muslim? I know some Muslims and they are peaceful and would never think of hurting anyone. I have never read it all but what I have seen of the Koran it advocates peace. It is unfortunate that the extremists of their religion are tainting everyone else. These extremists are using the Muslim religion to hide behind for their own hate and personal agenda. I am not Muslim, but lets not forget that there are plenty of Christian extremists too and I would never identify myself with one of them.
lots of books on this - even old ones

How many of his books have you read?

NY has had laws on the books for
over 5 years. No smoking just about anywhere except Indian-owned casinos and private clubs that do not have employees. No Smoking in bars, restaurants, etc.

I for one, love it!
Books have been written
on the insidious & frightening merging of the right wing (currently occupied by the republican party) and the Christian religion. Certainly there are individual exceptions, but the political party defines itself in large part by its religious beliefs, which as I understand from the media and from the posts on this very board, involves preservation of life at all costs, period. Here's a scary watch: The documentary "Jesus Camp."

As far as my world view being narrow, I would say that the difference is that I'm willing to let people believe whatever they want to believe, & if I don't like it I can change channels. As opposed to Christians (granted, maybe the most vocal ones, who are the only ones I've had occasion to hear), who do not appear to be satisfied until everyone thinks the way they do. I think everyone has a right to personal beliefs, but that right STOPS at the point where it infringes on my own. As opposed to Christians (ditto above reference) who seem quite happy to legislate the world to their own belief system. To me, that's what the narrowness involves.

Your comment reminds me of that famous
Everyone is allowed their opinions. Stop knocking other people down because you don't agree with them.
This discussion kind of reminds me of the ...sm
election of 1960, Nixon/Kennedy. Everyone was saying Nixon is a God. He has the most experience. No way John Kennedy is qualified to be president. Then came the first debate, and the rest is history. No teleprompter needed for either JFK or Obama. Their vision for America was/is enough to light the world.
Reminds me of that song be happy
Although reading your post I do have to say I think you've been hitting on the ju-ju juice a little too much. HA HA HA

We are not ALL "proud" of Obama. Proud that he's legally hiding his birth certificate. Proud that he had his school records legally sealed so nobody can see that he may have possibly gotten aid as a foreign student. Proud that he stole the election from Clinton. Not everyone in the world admires him (there are plenty of countries who believe we were duped and bought into the "rapture" of electing a black man that we didn't want to investigate him and who he is and how he got as far as he has and who is behind him, and why in the world anyone would vote for someone that doesn't have any experience. There are many countries now questioning his ability to lead by the people he is surrounding himself with. And as our own newly elect VP Joe Biden said "Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy".

As for him demonstrating
"purity of the heart". I have not seen anything to demonstrate that yet. I do know that Farrakhan seems to think he's the messiah, so maybe that it where people are getting that mixed up. Doen't make it true, however.

I'm glad your happy and I'm not taking that away. But soon I think once the effects of the kool-aid wears off you might see things a bit more clearly.

Not all of us feel joy and pride. We feel fear, uncertaintly, hopelessness, loss, despair, nervousness, doubt, worry, anxiety, and trepidation (and please don't tell me I should take medication for that). These are all real issues that we are facing. We are losing our homes, jobs, savings, retirements and everything we worked for and here comes the O saying "I feel your pain. I'm going to make it all better for you" and people buy into it without question. "How are you going to do that we say, what will you do for us right now so we don't get kicked out of our houses". "Well I'm going to tax all those nasty rich people that don't need it and give it all to you" "Yeah, hooray, Obama is my savior. I will never have to work or worry anymore how to pay for things I want."

So, go ahead and be happy. I have to live in reality.

P.S. - It's not the age of aquarium (unless I want some fish). It's the Age of Aquarius which deals with astrology. So maybe the O is from another planet. HA HA.
Teddy wrote books about something other than himself!
You can hardly compare Obama's narcissistic biographies with Teddy's books where he researched and wrote about something other than himself!

His books are selling like hotcakes.
x
Well, if you want to call your idol's own books...
garbage...fine by me. Several of my posts have come directly from his books. Like his Marxist connections from day one. From his own mouth..errr pen. But of course, asking you to actually read his words would be wayyyy too much to ask wouldn't it?

Ohhhhbaaaamaaaaa.
My mother still has one of those ration books........ sm
but I believe it was from WWII rather than the earlier Great Depression. I can remember her telling me that things like leather, rubber, automobiles, and nylon were rationed also during WWII as the bulk of those things went for "The War Effort."
if you enjoy books about religion
you should read "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer. It is about some of the fundamentalist Mormon beliefs -- and no, I am not bashing Mormons, just a lot of interesting history and insight into some of these zealots, not regular Mormons.
read the books of Daniel and sm
Revelation
I agree with ms. I enjoy it too. Sam reminds me of my husband. sm
And that is a good thing. LOL. My husband can debate until the cows come home whether it is Obama, McCain, Pelosi, etc. He lays everything out point by point and he isn't nasty about it the way some of the other posters on this board are. And he doesn't have to resort to name calling or whining.

So I say to Sam...You go girl!!.
she reminds me of Rose from the Golden Girls
back in Alaska....
This reminds me of Bill O's cry foul, declaration of war
proclamations that the ratings "MUST" be fixed after his show took third place behind MSNBC (x2 with KO and RM) and CNN (Anderson Cooper). Early on, McC camp started screaming bloody murder and boycotting the media when it began to become apparent that SP could not handle one-on-ones very well. Don't know what a camp sould expect when they declare their own wars on the media. Talk about whiners.
Your description reminds me of our current lousy
nm
Rupert Murdoch, GW, & Co. are buying up all her books LOL, sm
like they say the Scientologists buy Cruise's movie tickets. She is a good servant for those in the shadows, so I am sure she is highly paid, just like those gas bags Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly. No one with a conscience would do what they do unless it involved a lot of money.
A couple of quotes from Obama books to consider

From Dreams of My Father:'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Dreams of My Father:'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

And FINALLY the Most damaging one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope:'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

I grew up Baptist, and we thoroughly studied both books
And, as always, we picked and chose that which we would apply to our lives, and how we would interpret what it said.

You know the only things I took away from my childhood religion?

"Love your sisters and brothers."

"Judge not, lest ye be judged."

"Do unto others as you would have done to you."

And having studied the Nag Hammadi library, which gave much, much more insight into what Jesus recommended, it seems as if that - believe it or not - is exactly what he meant.

So when you say someone is "wrong," you are judging them. When you are asking someone to change their lives to accommodate your beliefs, you are doing unto them something you're asking not be done to you. And I believe we can agree that love is unconditional (something I believe 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 alluded to), regardless of what other's choices are - even if you disagree with them.
Read Obama's two books, his own words...
and then come and tell us he is not a socialist leaning heavily toward Marxism...with a straight face. Just admit it, you know he is a socalist, leaning Marxist, and you don't care. Be honest with us and yourself.

The first time either Obama or Biden have to face other than softball questions and they run under the porch whining.

Whether or not someone leans Marxist is a valid question. That neither one of them has answered. Obama KNOWS what he is. He just doesn't want YOU to know what he is.
What you call so-called history is on the books
if you care to search for it. It is no secret Israel provided gun power to Hamas a long time ago to ward off the PLO......who do you think gave Israel all the weaponery to give to them? China? Then when Hamas becomes entrenched within the Palestinian people and over time basically becomes their government, what do you think they are going to do.....the same as many others that have been given weapons; they turn on the ones that put them there in the first place, simply because they feel no loyalty toward Israel...they hate Israel.....they hate Jews. Simple as that.

You act as if this is not facts. I don't know how old you are but if you are my age, you would certainly remember the PLO and all before them and everything after them. These terrorists groups didn't sprout overnight; they were made!

I don't for a minute think Hamas actually cares for their citizens; it's all a means to an end with them. They use their people as human shields because they are cowards but of course, when Israel kills their innocent, they can scream Israel is murdering their women and children; of course Hamas takes no responsibility for what they do.
I meant to add it reminds me of what I read about Napolean and M. Antionette
Party hearty dudes.
Are there any good books on *the radical terrorist mind*? sm
and whose the author?
you're wrong, S. FLA the illegals paid on the books
at least the ones I know.....the ones who did arrive with at least a visa.....and who get paid off a company payroll and not off the books or in cash is what I mean....
Right on, baby!

Cuz you know, the answer my friend (to all this brouhaha) is blowin' in the wind......

I'm heading out now for a lunch with my Harley-riding, beer-swigging, antique-collecting redneck friend.  No kidding!!  Strange things can happen in this big ole universe and that's just the way I like it.  Actually, he quit drnking beer about 10 years ago, and quit riding the Harley after he went broke trying to sell antiques....but he's still pretty much of a redneck.

Thanks for helping me have a laugh and see some humor where I thought there was none!!

Except for the baby..............

Use the baby in WHAT way? If you want to know why
further than this board full of none other than women, most of whom I presume are MTs and therefore working mothers themselves!! How do you reconcile ripping someone down for being the very thing you are? By criticizing SP or Hillary or any other prominent woman figure who happens to be a mother, you are only applying the exact same things to yourselves, ladies. This has to be one of the most disgusting things I see on here. Take pot shots at her skills or work history, but how can you possibly rip on her for having a career and children? Do you want us all barefoot, pregnant, and waiting on Ward hand and foot again? Grow up. I, for one, am ashamed to be a woman and lumped in with such juvenile BS when I see this nonsense.

I didn't care for Hillary, but I still hailed the fact that she was campaigning. It meant maybe women are finally gaining recognition and respect. Want to know why our wages are less than men's and why every time women make one step forward, they take 2 steps back? It's because the very gender prominent women hope to elevate will attack those women out of jealousy or worse yet, because they don't happen to ascribe to their own set of beliefs. It makes the whole lot of us look petty and ridiculous.

There's a saying, it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it to the world.
Welcome baby!
I didn't know there was such a thing!
what about the baby's
x
okay what about the baby?

Yes, I do believe you should be able to do whatever you decide to your own body so long as others are not endangered in the process.

Well what about baby?  Baby isnt endangered in the process.  I would called being killed endangered.  But I guess you are saying that it isnt a baby yet.  I dont get that.  A tadpole doesnt look like a frog but it is still a living thing.  It just hasnt matured.  A caterpillar isnt a butterfly but it is still alive, it just hasnt matured.  So a fetus that is developing is still alive, just not matured.  So because a fetus doesnt turn into something that looks like a baby in a matter of minutes or hours is okay to kill because it takes a while to mature?  The video that you do not want to see shows a 19 week old baby girl.  She has red hair.  She is fully formed, just tiny.  She was aborted by saline.  The saline poured all over her body and burned her to death.  She has black burn marks all over her little arms and legs and body.  She is curled up like a little angle.  Are you telling me that she did feel that just because no one could hear her misery?  She wasnt a living thing?  Sorry, but it is murder and it is wrong.  You dont have to even believe in God to understand that.

Such a baby!
You can poke and jab at others and make fun of what they say, but when it turns on you, you are suddenly "better" than everyone else? How so? You act like a little baby who starts a fight and then runs away. Don't play the innocent victim card. Go back and read some of your insulting posts, THAT is the reason people are "ganging up" on you and your superiority. Guess you better "show us" and just go away. Please....
