just a check, some milk and some cheese. These people need opportunities for education and employment. And when I say employment, I mean something more than a job at McDonalds. We need programs to accomplish this, and that takes money....tax money. The problem right now with welfare is that a mother of 2 can make more money sitting at home collecting a check than she can if she were to get a job (which with no speciallized skills will pay next to nothing). And then when she does come home with a check from working it's probably not even enough to pay for daycare. That's what we need to fix.
One of my sisters had a child while she was single. She worked as an animal health technician (with a degree) at the time. With one child she could barely make ends meet...and that was with Wick. She was lucky because she had family to help, but a lot of people don't have that support.
