SSI is for disabled - my son is developmentally disabled (suspect some form of autism, but no one can agree on a dx), cannot live on his own - he gets SSI and works at a sheltered workshop.


SSD is for workers who can no longer work and are too young to retire and you have to be dam near dead to qualify for it.
