Goes both ways. Democrats have been time and time again saying untrue and slanderous things about McCain, then they turn around in the same breath and say your lying about Obama. Second...Obama snorted cocaine. That is an illegal drug, so he broke the law. Period. He just didn't get caught. How did he pay for it? Did he deal? We don't know. And I don't care...it is in his past. Just like this is in Cindy McCain's past. He was snorting an illegal substance. Prescription drugs are not illegal. Obtaining them with forged prescriptions is. They both broke the law.
Third...how many addicts just come clean on their own? Nearly NONE. It nearly always takes some kind of thing like an accident caused by the addiction, and intervention by family members...let's be honest about that.
You then say Obama supports rehab and no incarceration for first-time offenders. Your candidate does, but you don't? Or only support it if it isn't Cindy McCain? What does what her husband support or does not support have to do with it? She is still a first time offender. Would you not extend the same thing to her you would to anyone else? Isn't that exactly what you are saying is not fair?
I can't see where one of these issues is worse than the other. He did illegal drugs, she asked that someone forge prescriptions. Both illegal.
And I would be willing to bet that if one of Obama's children, or Obama's wife, got in trouble with drugs prescription drugs they would move heaven and earth to protect them, just as McCain did.
And McCain does not advocate tougher laws on first time offenders. I found this in searching for his drug law stance:
"I also think we ought to do something you may approve of and that is first time offenders ought not to be imprisoned, I think they should be given the opportunity for rehab. In Arizona we have a program, first time offenders--abusers--they can go through a rehab program where there is frequent testing. If they complete that they can go forward with their lives."
McCain introduced the "Addiction Free Treatment Act" (S.423), which prohibits the use of funds for any drug treatment or rehabilitation program that uses methadone or other heroin detoxification agents unless the program follows specified guidelines, including that the program has as its primary objective the elimination of drug addiction and that it conducts random and frequent comprehensive drug testing for all narcotics.

This, to me, is a nonissue. On either person's part. Her drug use (in the past) and his drug use (in the past). McCain's drug stance is not that different from Obama's. Both think first offenders should get rehab, not incarceration, by their own words.

I'm sorry, that is a separation I cannot make. My faith and religious convictions are part of the whole person that I am. I vote my conscience. I want political leaders who reflect my morality. I also happen to believe there are many Christians out there like me. There is no "separation" of church and state for me, which by the way was a concept (nowhere specifically mentioned in the constitution) meant to protect the church from the government more so than the government from the church.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that commercial. There are condom commercials, "personal" lubricant commercials, and penis and sexual performance enhancing commercials -- why would anyone be offended by a pro-life commercial? The fact that anyone would be offended is a testament to just how twisted society has become!

It is as American as apple pie to challenge close election results and certainly is not a phenomenon confined to the blue side of the aisle. In fact, a fixed recount was the ONLY way W was able to slither into office in 2000 (can you say hanging chads?).
Are recounts only legitimate when they favor the GOP, as was the case of Saxby Chambliss in Georgia? Thank God we avoided one in Alaska. It does seem that Coleman's claim to victory may have been a tad premature, even though he did arrogantly concede that Franken did have the right to "purse official review." This was mighty big of him, considering it is mandated in Minnesota when the margins are less than 1%.
If you are defending Cornyn in his assertion that the process should "play it self out," why do you have such a problem seeing that happen in Minnesota? So far, all I can see is that sam does not understand the basic concepts of socialism, Marxism, tax cuts and tax credits. Tax cuts are a reduction in taxes, based on lowering a tax rate. You cannot reduce a rate on tax in the absence of tax due. Tax credits for the most part are paid against TAXES DUE. The 2 exceptions in the US are the earned income tax credit and the child tax credit
So show me where Obama has said that his tax credit would be a refundable/non-wastable credit. Also, naturally, I am still waiting for sam's answer to my original question on how it is that progressive tax reform is only socialist when it is Obama reform but no other president who has reformed the tax structure is a socialist? Please answer that question and the one about the refundable tax credit. Direct answers would be very much appreciated.

I was on vacation when the posts were made, but a friend of mine copied them and sent them to me. They were no exactly death threats, but under a post wishing President Bush Happy Birthday, there were two posts saying something to the effect that they hoped Bush died and burned in hell. Also, every single thing you accuse conservatives of in this long post, every SINGLE thing, has been committed on this board by liberals. You might also notice that most of the conservative posters have stopped coming over here, something the liberal posters have not been able to do, as their drive-by postings still appear sporadically and predictably.

with anything if he thought it would be used to help bring down the United States and would make a "deal with the devil" (Al Qaeda) in order to attack the US, and I think anyone who thought differently would be disingenuous to say the least.
