When you dial into a phone line you've just given up your right to privacy. You are not guaranteed privacy on phone lines owned by private companies. There is no privacy contract of any sort when you dial a phone. That's where the disconnect lies. Pardon the pun.

are really the issue.  If people want to get drunk they'll do that whether or not the bars are open.  I think the larger issue is that so many people will be there at one time.  Anytime you put that many people together (regardless of the reason) there will always be the few that act the fool.

Lets break this one down. If she posted in the morning, it means she get to count the hours in today. So, that means we have 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and part of 20 to get through. I have listed them so (assuming you can count to 14) you can finger count them and see that she is on the mark. Besides, If she didn't count today's hours or left out the ones on the 20th, you guys would be all over her like a cheap suit on a used car salesman telling her she is trying to jump the gun.

Could you get anymore petty than this? Suck it up. Time is short no matter how you slice it and before you know it, he will be sworn in. BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The official witnesses to Saddam Hussein's impending execution gathered Friday in Baghdad's fortified Green Zone in final preparation for his hanging, as state television broadcast footage of his regime's atrocities.

With U.S. forces on high alert for a surge in violence, the Iraqi government readied all the necessary documents, including a red card - an execution order introduced during Saddam's dictatorship. As the hour of his death approached, Saddam received two of his half brothers in his cell on Thursday and was said to have given them his personal belongings and a copy of his will.

Najeeb al-Nueimi, a member of Saddam's legal team in Doha, Qatar, said he too requested a final meeting with the deposed Iraqi leader. His daughter in Amman was crying, she said 'Take me with you,' al-Nueimi said late Friday. But he said their request was rejected.

An adviser to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Saddam would be executed before 6 a.m. Saturday, or 10 p.m. Friday EST. Also to be hanged at that time were Saddam's half-brother Barzan Ibrahim and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, the adviser said.

The time was agreed upon during a meeting Friday between U.S. and Iraqi officials, said the adviser, who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

Saddam will be handed over shortly before the execution, the official said. The physical transfer of Saddam from U.S. to Iraqi authorities was believed to be one of the last steps before he was to be hanged. Saddam has been in U.S. custody since he was captured in December 2003.

Al-Nueimi said U.S. authorities were maintaining physical custody of Saddam to prevent him from being humiliated before his execution. He said the Americans also want to prevent the mutilation of his corpse, as has happened to other deposed Iraqi leaders.

The Americans want him to be hanged respectfully, al-Nueimi said. If Saddam is humiliated publicly or his corpse ill-treated that could cause an uprising and the Americans would be blamed, he said.

Munir Haddad, a judge on the appeals court that upheld Saddam's death sentence, said he was ready to attend the hanging and that all the paperwork was in order, including the red card.

All the measures have been done, Haddad said. There is no reason for delays.

As American and Iraqi officials met in Baghdad to set the hour of his death, Saddam's lawyers asked a U.S. judge for a stay of execution.

Saddam's lawyers issued a statement Friday calling on everybody to do everything to stop this unfair execution. The statement also said the former president had been transferred from U.S. custody, though American and Iraqi officials later denied that.

Al-Maliki said opposing Saddam's execution was an insult to his victims. His office said he made the remarks in a meeting with families of people who died during Saddam's rule.

Our respect for human rights requires us to execute him, and there will be no review or delay in carrying out the sentence, al-Maliki said.

State television ran footage of the Saddam era's atrocities, including images of uniformed men placing a bomb next to a youth's chest and blowing him up in what looked like a desert, and handcuffed men being thrown from a high building.

About 10 people registered to attend the hanging gathered in the Green Zone before they were to go to the execution site, the Iraqi official said.

Those cleared to attend the execution included a Muslim cleric, lawmakers, senior officials and relatives of victims of Saddam's brutal rule, the official said. He did not disclose the location of the gallows.

Raed Juhi, spokesman for the High Tribunal court that convicted Saddam, said documents related to the execution would be read to Saddam before the execution. The documents included the red card, al-Maliki's signed approval of the sentence and the appeal court's decision.

On Thursday, two half brothers visited Saddam in his cell, a member of the former dictator's defense team, Badee Izzat Aref, told The Associated Press by telephone from the United Arab Emirates. He said the former dictator handed them his personal belongings.

A senior official at the Iraqi defense ministry also confirmed the meeting and said Saddam gave his will to one of his half brothers. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Saddam's lawyers later issued a statement saying the Americans gave permission for his belongings to be retrieved.

An Iraqi appeals court upheld Saddam's death sentence Tuesday for the killing of 148 people who were detained after an attempt to assassinate him in the northern Iraqi city of Dujail in 1982. The court said the hanging should take place within 30 days.

There had been disagreements among Iraqi officials in recent days as to whether Iraqi law dictates the execution must take place within 30 days and whether President Jalal Talabani and his two deputies had to approve it.

In his Friday sermon, a mosque preacher in the Shiite holy city of Najaf called Saddam's execution God's gift to Iraqis.

Is this what you are suggesting because I do believe some of SP's children are older than Obama's and yet no one seems to be spatting about him leaving his children to run for president.  Of SP's 5 children....only 2 are younger....which is the same number of young children Obama has.  Yet it seems to be okay with everything that he just let Michelle Obama raise their children while he runs around the country to be prez.  Why is it not acceptable that Todd Palin take care of the two younger children while his wife tries to make this country better....including for her children.  Why....because Todd is the dad and he should be out working while SP stay at home cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids.........seriously....who time warped us back to the 50s?

People WERE suffering from Katrina and they had a chance to vote for it. They chose not to. Where does integrity come in? Where is country first, party second? What was so all-fired important they voted FOR a huge earmark for a bridge and against help for Katrina victims?

As as for pork...it is added by BOTH parties and that is what McCain/Palin seek to stop. Plus earmarks for personal gain...like Obama earmarking a million bucks for his wive's employer...who had just that month DOUBLED her salary.

Face it...Obama is old Washington politics, just like Biden is. There is no change there. Same old washington politics. He has demonstrated throughout his career. Yes, other politicians do it. That is exactly what I am talking about.

It is time it stopped, and the only people who have ANY history of bucking their own party to do that are McCain/Palin. Now THERE is change you can believe in.

running on the ticket with you only a few months ago voiced the opinion that you were not qualified for the job...however...in a strict changing your story view, yes. Weighing the importance of the two issues (lipstick on a pig and your #2 saying you were not qualified for the job) is up to the reader.
How is this not important?
I know that, on the surface, it's really easy to write this off as a nonissue. But I would ask that, regardless of party, everyone stop for a moment and consider what it MEANS.

It means that a make-up artist was more important to the McCain campaign than any other adviser or staff member. It's representative of shallowness and wasteful excess. It shows clear skewed judgment in what's important in our nation.

And, frankly, it was clearly wasteful expenditure. Palin looked perfectly fine before the excessive celebrity life the campaign brought to her. There was no need for this. She's an attractive woman, and absolutely not in need of this Paris Hilton-esque extravagance.

Why the campaign and RNC thought it would make her more "popular" is pretty head-scratching. Instead, they just made themselves look like, well, the type of people who aren't really "for" the middle class after all. The type of people who think style is more important than substance.

If Bush is not tried for his crimes, it sets a precedence for successive abuse of power....even for Obama.  As a country, until we acknowledge and correct our shortcomings we cannot move forward.  What do you think the rest of the world will say if we don't do something about it?  We talk alot about justice and being fair, but until we can show that we are willing to uphold those ideals we are no better than the ones who would commit those crimes.


The economy is the focus right now, and yes, it should be dealt with first and foremost, and that is being done.  But that is not to say that we cannot accomplish other things at the same time.  If they do go after Bush, all Obama has to do is step aside and not stop the preceedings.  This is all about the judicial branch of government, not the White House.

I had the privilege and honor of seeing Mother Teresa some years ago in D.C. The audience was made up of a few ordinary people and mostly political and/or media types. The woman did not mince words. She did not hesitate to tell everyone in the audience how she felt that intolerance, indifference, selfishness, materialism and consumerism, the treatment of and attitudes towards the poor, the sick, the imprisoned run rampant were things that incited people to take up arms against each other, to hate one another, etc. and that Americans might want to look a good look at themselves and give some thoughtful prayer to what part they may play in the situations they so despised. Some of the people were so moved by her that they talked to her about going to India. They wanted to work in her clinics, her hospitals, on the streets. She laughed out loud and I will never forget what she said. She said, and I quote, ** You do not have to go to another country to do God's work. Take a look around you. Man's inhumanity to man is evident everywhere. Go into your own cities and find the poor, the needy, the imprisoned, the sick, the haters with hardened hearts, whatever. They will always be with us and they are everywhere. I believe sincerely that peace is God's work, perhaps in the highest form. You think we live in peace here in this country; as Mother Teresa said, look around you. The war is but 1 faction of a very very sick society, a sick world. I was born into peace and nonviolence. I have practiced it all my life. Protests are really quite a small part of my nonviolent lifestyle. There is plenty enough hatred, violence, intolerance and indifference to keep the peacekeepers busy until the end of time, right where they live, wherever that may be.  We also unfortunately have, in this country, warmongering and war profiteering and people in power who could care less about exploiting our troops and whomever they may be fighting. War is a big money maker for some folks. I do protest here but these days it is mostly letters to the editor, letters to senators, clergy, manning phones, that sort of thing. Another thing I believe is that the Creator is the changer of hearts and minds, not men, and that prayer changes things. You asked what I did besides whine on the other board, where were my legs...you asked for it, here it is.


1. I train service dogs for the disabled. I do this for all sorts of people, some of whom happen to be veterans whose welcome home from their government is, in my opinion, nothing short of betrayal. The wonderful projects, facilities that have sprung up to help these vets are all and I mean ALL privately funded, quite a few of the dogs I train have been purchased or **sponsored** meaning covering all costs and it is quite expensive,  from the bleeding heart liberal pinko commies as you refer to us. They pay the fee, anywhere from $12,000 to $25,000 so that people who cannot afford it or whose government does not think them or their service  important enough to provide them everything they could possibly ever need can get something they desperately need. My portion of this 2-year training program is the last leg, the month where trainer, new owner and dog are put together to learn the mechanics of what they are doing together and to learn each other. At this point the dog, its care, individualized training, all vet bills have been paid for. Normally I charge for this month of training that I do one-on-one.  I have NEVER charged 1 red cent to any veteran for my services and I never will. This is one of the ways I support the troops but not the mission. You see, it can be done.


2.  I have belonged to a prayer and meditation for peace group since I was a child. If I go somewhere where I can't find one, I start one or I hook up with the Mennonites or Friends, the original civil disobeyers. We PRAY for peace, for everyone, everywhere.


3.  I work with St. Vincent de Paul (Catholic organization for the needy),


4.  I do meals on wheels (substitute only now, too busy with everything else),


5.  I go with a group of Indians to elementary schools throughout the Tampa Bay area in full regalia with drums, flutes and stories to share with them to try to give them a good honest look at indigenous people. This seems to be going over very well. We have more dates than we can actually handle. I am very proud to do this work.


Those are my legs and I have had them for a long time.  As I recall, this is our board, the L board, so I can post whatever I like and you don't have to read my posts because you always find fault with whatever I said but I will continue to **preach to the choir** as long as I feel like it because it is the liberal board and the liberals don't mind hearing about nonviolence. The only one who knows how "indoctrinated" Obama is with the Muslim religion or how much he ascribes to it, supports it or it influences him, is Barack Obama. And I think anyone who thinks differently is fooling himself/herself.

As to the United Church of Christ...it has a flagrantly racist agenda, and regardless of what he says he has to know that if he was listening to any of the sermons...Jeremiah Wright did not wake up the morning of Obama's candidacy a racist and that church did not turn racist overnight...

Ladies/gentlemen, we can go back and forth on the candidates and their character, however, as we all know candidates can and will promise anything while running for president and promises are conveniently forgotton once in office.  To find out what is in a candidate's heart, read each party's platform which is easily assessible on the internet. The platform will let you know what the candidates will be focusing on once in office. Since each candidate's economic or tax plan really cannot be tested until they are in office, look for issues that concern you morally. Regardless of which candidate wins, let's vow to be united once it is over.

As far as Tenet's slam-dunk comment, the people at that meeting were Bush, Cheney, and CIA-director John McLaughlin.....oh, and you.  Couldn't find any female names mentioned in that meeting, however.


As far as the 747 fuselage in the desert....could only find a handful of references to it on the whole internet and none were compelling and again, most were from far right wing publications.


I feel a story is only as truthful as its source and sometimes the truthfulness of a story can never be completely determined.  You say the source doesn't matter, I say it is EVERYTHING.  Reflect upon North Korea today, former communist Russia and China even today....all highly censored government news sources. Those folks will never get the real story and heaven knows it's hard enough to get it in a free country like the US.

And with Vietnam war hero John McCain leading the GOP presidential ticket, many pundits expect the military to favor the Republicans with their wallets, too. But so far, Barack Obama appears to be leading his rival by a 6-to-1 margin in campaign contributions from deployed troops. The nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics reports that Obama has collected just over $60,000 from deployed troops compared to McCain's $10,000 in figures up to June 30.

Dealing with our enemies - I read an article and was going to post the link, but the article is positioned on the page odd and I had to scroll down to the bottom and words went off the screen so I cut and pasted some of it here.  If you still wish to see the article let me know and I'll provide a link..


Obama is described as “eloquent and dazzling. In writing, he sounds like the candidate for class president pledging no more homework and free pizza”.  – (pretty good description I'd say)


His position on Iran – “If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation”.  – That, that’ll show them.


While other candidates have insisted that we should threaten to drop nuclear bombs on terrorist training camps, Obama believes that we must talk openly about nuclear weapons – because “the best way to keep America safe is not to threaten terrorists with nuclear weapons”.  Obama will secure all loose nuclear materials in the world within four years.  “This will deny terrorists the ability to steal or buy loose nuclear material”. – Does he really believe the most vicious people will be thwarted that easily?


People should remember that no matter how eloquently offered it is not always for the better.
