is anyone planning on taking the day off or part of the day to watch the inauguration tomorrow?  I would not mind.  If I leave it on while working its sure to slow me down production wise.

ummmm because inauguration day

is probably one of the most political days on the calendar?  Do you think that book was written in just a few short months?  I'm sure it's been undergoing for several years now.

I don't disagree that she does support Obama, but I will state that there is no moderator who is absolutely 100% neutral.  They're all going to go to the polls on election day and cast their vote.

I think that a presidential inauguration should be serious...
not an excuse to drink a lot in bars. I actually find it tacky. Watch the serious event in our nation's capital and celebrate if you want, but go home to party like a rockstar. Personally, I think it shows a huge amount of disrespect.
OH - MY - GOD!!!! You have definitely not been following the events
There is no connection between Obama, Ayers, Rezco, Jones or Khalidi???????? Have you been asleep? I guess so!

I'm not even going to go to the decency of posting any further. They are connected. You can read about it. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. They are as they say inextricably connected to each other.

Wake up and stop spreading the Palin hate/Obama love.
You'll have to wait until after the inauguration
You're in for a real treat.
What would you expect 14 days BEFORE his inauguration?

The money being spent on the inauguration
At least that is one way to look at it.
Bush Inauguration Costs
During the January 18 edition of MSNBC Live, host Tamron Hall stated that "the inauguration festivities" for President-elect Barack Obama are "estimated to reach as high as $150 million," adding that "[i]n 2004, to note, the inauguration of George W. Bush cost roughly $40 million." However, the $40 million figure that Hall cited for Bush's second inauguration reportedly does not include certain costs incurred by the federal government and the District of Columbia such as security and transportation costs; these costs are included in the $150 million estimate that the media are reporting for the Obama inauguration. When the costs incurred by the federal government and the District of Columbia are factored in, the total cost of Bush's 2005 inauguration was reportedly around $157 million, as Media Matters for America senior fellow Eric Boehlert noted.

The Washington Post reported in January 2005 that the $40 million cost of Bush's inaugural celebration, raised from private donations "does not include the cost of a web of security, including everything from 7,000 troops to volunteer police officers from far away, to some of the most sophisticated detection and protection equipment." Further, The New York Times reported on January 5 that in 2005, "the federal government and the District of Columbia spent a combined $115.5 million, most of it for security, the swearing-in ceremony, cleanup and for a holiday for federal workers."

This year, the Presidential Inaugural Committee reportedly plans to spend around $45 million on the celebrations "surrounding the actual ceremony," all of which "comes completely from private donations, not the government." In addition, public funds will cover security, transportation, staffing, construction, and the actual swearing-in ceremony. According to CNNMoney.com:

The total cost of the inauguration to the federal government is $49 million, according to Abigail Tanner, spokeswoman for the Office of Management and Budget.

That $49 million includes a $15 million appropriation which has already been appropriated to the District of Columbia to help pay for the inauguration expenses. It also includes money to pay for the Secret Service during the inauguration and the military personnel during the parade following the swearing-in ceremony.

Meanwhile, the governors of Virginia and Maryland, and the mayor of Washington sent a letter to the federal government estimating that the inauguration was going to cost them a combined $75 million -- $47 million for the District alone -- for transportation and law enforcement.

The District may be eligible for more federal money beyond the $15 million appropriated. President Bush announced Tuesday that the District was in a state of emergency, making more funding available for "emergency protective measures that are undertaken to save lives and protect public health and safety."

Millions could get to DC for the inauguration, but couldn't get out of NO before the hurricane...

Coincidental events an understatement.
I wish everyone would take the time to just study facts & compare. The victims families cannot get their questions answered at all. There is a lot of good information on the web page started by the victims families (911truth.org). Aaron Russo (Hollywood producer, not conspiracy theorist) is also releasing a film this summer that is a must see for everyone. The link to a preview of it: http://www.freedomtofascism.com/
I am not unhappy with current events...
I think it is a great step forward in this country that a black man is running for President. It is historical, and a wonderful, wonderful thing. But because he is black does not mean he is qualified. If he was white and saying the same things I would feel the same way. He seems like a nice guy, has a beautiful family, and has a vision for the country. I don't share that vision. Does not make me a bad person, does not make him a bad person. Just means we disagree. That is what America is all about. It is this rabid hatred of all things not Obama or all things conservative and trying to squelch any kind of opposition that is UNAmerican. It fact, it is the antithesis of the American way, and the fact that he stirs that up in people is concerning. I don't know if it is by accident or by design. No way I could know.
I like it here. Besides, mostly all they discuss there is current events. Imagine that. nm

These late night political events

are just killing me.  I keep staying up to watch and then I stay up later to hear the media discuss everything.  Why must this stuff be so addicting?  I know I should just go to bed because it will be repeated 1,000 times the next day......but I can't help myself.  I'm going to go hook up my coffee IV to keep me awake this morning.

I'm gonna have the big one. Human Events quoted on the L board! NM

I was just thinking they should rename this board "Current Events" instead of
I'm just bored today and thought I would just throw that out there.  I think Current Events better all-ecompasses the discussions on this board.
Gene Robinson: Gay Bishop Giving Obama Inauguration Prayer

Well, even though that Saddleback jerks is there too...

from the Huffington Post 1/12/09

New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, a vocal gay rights leader, will open President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration with a prayer on Sunday's kick-off event at the Lincoln Memorial.

"I am writing to tell you that President-Elect Obama and the Inaugural Committee have invited me to give the invocation at the opening event of the Inaugural Week activities, We are One, to be held at the Lincoln Memorial," Robinson wrote in an email to friends.

The announcement comes after weeks of outcry from the gay community over Obama's choice of evangelical, anti-gay pastor Rick Warren to deliver the inaugural invocation.

"It's important for any minority to see themselves represented in some way," Robinson said in an interview with the Concord Monitor. "Whether it be a racial minority, an ethnic minority or, in our case, a sexual minority. Just seeing someone like you up front matters."

Robinson is the first openly gay diocesan bishop in the Anglican Communion. "God never gets it wrong. The church often takes a long time to get it right. It is a human institution, but one capable of self-correction," Robinson told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "I believe in my heart that the church got it wrong about homosexuality. There is great excitement in my heart to be living in a time when the church is starting to get it right."

Robinson said he would love to sit down with Rick Warren but believed that the California pastor has "perpetrated lies about the gay, lesbian and bisexual community."

What? Like those classless Americans who spouted KILL HIM towards O at GOP events pre election? nm
