What is saddest is the children are always the first to suffer, no win for them....sm
aren't there social agencies in place to POLICE these situations? In many states, single moms can get grants, go to school full-time, have daycare on premises fully paid, and given all the tools to set up a new life, a better life, one with dignity, morals to pass on to the children, pride in accomplishment....is ANYONE taking advantage of this today? I am SO SICK of young people popping out babies with no regard to the babies' future, no respect as far as getting married, because PROVIDING is a lot more than feeding and clothing, it is love, safety, and most of all moral structure, family structure, respect for yourself and society....can public schools teach more of this, or am I dreaming?

I would love to hear your definition of *weak.* From what I can gather from your posts, weak in your eyes is the unwillingness to use force first. So, what is so wrong with diplomacy? Is your only response to a situation the *shoot first and ask questions later* mentality? Believe it or not, there is strength in the ability to negotiate and compromise with others. Since you base everything on religion, what does your Bible say about that? Does it not teach compassion and understanding? Of have you just interpreted it in a manner that suits you personally?
Do I believe Obama will put an end to offshoring American jobs? I believe that is his goal, unlike Bush and McCain who both supported tax breaks for companies overseas who do that exact thing. Look up their voting records.

And then there's the middle east. Everyone says they don't want Iran to have nukes. I agree, but I also don't want anyone else to have nukes either. You would argue that Iran is too radical to be trusted with them. I would say the same thing about Israel and the US. Under Bush's reign we have started 2 major wars and are presently funding Israel in its war to the tune of about over 2 billion a year in direct military support. Put yourself in someone else's shoes for a while. If you lived in Iran (a democratic state), you saw this behavior, and you know you are labeled as *next* on the Bush hit list, wouldn't you be trying to arm up?
Now I know you're going to say that each and every one of those wars was justified, but you are sooo wrong it's ridiculous. Israel -- They have been bullying everyone over there for years in the name of the holy land and are currently killing civilians at an alarming rate. Iraq -- An unjust war, to say the least. And then there's Afghanistan, which was supposed to be retaliation for 9/11. Why do you think 9/11 happened? Do you think before 9/11 that everyone in the world just loved the US? News flash -- No, they didn't. The US has been meddling in the middle east for years on end (which included putting people like Saddam in power). She is being further investigated on yet more incidences of abuse of power. The fact that she and Todd built their brand new home using the same contractor that just happened to get the contract to build a new 10 million dollar sports complex in Wasilla simultaneously has led some to question the whole deal, and possibly acquiring, shall we say, the means to do so through this contractor. That's just one of them. Watch Keith Olberman tonight on MSNBC. They have her all figured out! Obviously someone believes this woman is shady enough to warrant this further investigation.

Such thoughtless ignorance, such little time. Where to start? Obama's father left him mom when he was a baby. He is a child of divorce. In his entire life, he knew his father for 1 month. He has some communication with Kenyan relatives but not all of them. It is not surprising that they would not have that much in common, having been raised by different parents of different races halfway around the world from each other.
So, against this background, consider if you will how divorced families in the United States relate to one another. If you yourself were from a divorced family, would you necessarily keep up with the whereabouts of your dead father's HALF-sister wh you never knew? Would you even know her last name, her husband's name, how many children she has or even her hometown?
I would not expect him to even know she was in the United States, much less her legal status. Furthermore, I would not be sticking my nose into an elder relative's personal affairs, asking such questions as to her legal status. I would probably respect the elder and give her the benefit of the doubt. In fact, it would ot even cross my mind.
Having said that, there is another aspect of this family situation that comes into play. African family structures operate much, much differently than American families. Many tribes in Africa reckon the identity of their children through the MOTHER, not the father, like we do here in the west. Wives do not take their husband's names and neither do the children. Therefore, kinship via the mother's ancestors is central. So here we have a combination of divorce, death of a relative who abandoned his son, geographic separation, racial separation (being raised in a white world) and cultural separation. It is not at all hard for me to understand that he would not have known her legal status or even that she was still here. If the contribution came from a New York address, there would have been no reason for campaign workers to question its legality, nor would they have know she was his aunt.
All I need to know about Obama's family values is the way he treats his own wife and children and what he says about responsible parenting. I think is is ridiculous that you have the gall to sit in judgment over something you have no way of knowing anyhing about. Grasping at straws in the 11th hour of the campaign will not win any elections.

While I realize that Obama's book is WAY over your head, you should be able to grasp at least its title...DREAMS of my father, as in how an abandoned son might imagine his father and feel the need to understand the parent he never knew. Unlike you, I do not get my information from YouTube, fringe chat rooms and Fix Noise, errr, I mean Fox News. I actually read BOOKS and have read up on Obama enough to know a little bit about the estrangement he feels from his Kenyan family and when I wrote that, I had Maya Soetoro-Ng in mind who maintains a relationship with Obama.
I studied African tribal family structures and America family structure in (now get ready) college...cultural and social anthropology, cultural geography and sociology of family courses for starters and have maintained an interest in cultural studies for more than 30 years, so I CONTINUED to read about these subjects of interest. Survivor TV would be on your level, not mine. Obama supporters are, how should I say this, known to be a tad more educated than (how did that political analyst says it yesterday?...oh, yes) the downscale McCain voter and as such are much less prone to the mob mentality that adopts and chants flock buzz words such as "sheeple" and the like. Then again, I would not expect you to be ale to wrap you brain around African tribal customs and how kinship reckoning affects cultural family value systems, especially outside of the lower 48, but I do think that Obama's global mentality probably get the gist of it.
Now, if you don't mind, I need a breath of fresh air and a little distance between myself and this ignorant post of yours.

I read your post. It is based on accusations, which is all anyone can really go on as Hitler is not here to pick his brain. It also states Hitler felt they were capitalists, which was a reason why he wanted to destroy them. I also know what my many NYC jewish friends talk about when we talk about WWII and concentration camps which we have talked a lot about over the years. As an aside, from someone who calls me hateful all the time, you do need to look within. To call Chomsky despicable filth for no reason other than you disagree with him and his ideology is really quite scarey and sad. This is America, where we can believe and worship anything we want and if a person does not like it, they can put it out of their mind and live their life and let Chomsky and every one else, who does not think like you, live theirs. and the people I know were offended. And so they should be. Lots of folks in flyover America are offended. He made a blanket statement and it offended a lot of rural folks whose jobs are on their farms. There are a lot of people in PA whose jobs have not been outsourced. That is the trouble with blanket statements. There are a lot of small towns in PA and not all of us are bitter. We do not cling, we embrace our second amendment rights and our religous beliefs...through good times and bad. If we did not, then we might indeed BE bitter.
Obama does not know me. And I suspect he does not know a lot of rural America. Our vote counts too. Maybe he should not have painted such a broad stroke.

I have known plumbing business owners my entire life and they ain't rich by a long shot. They do okay. They employ lots of people, which should be the main concern here.....employment. They perform a service you sure as shoot would want.
Same with electricians. Both professions are tough jobs and I have no problem with them doing well if they can. My brother worked for a plumbing company when he was younger and was called out in the freezing cold to crawl under homes to replace pipes, homes that might at any minute collapse they were so old. He found himself in so many dangerous situations replacing pipes. H@ll fire....they couldn't pay him enough for what he did.
Electricians crawling around in spaces I wouldn't want to go. In the middle of summer here in the south, one had to crawl around in a very small space above our home to run wires and you couldn't pay me enough to do that job. I thought they were going to pass out from the heat. I was more worried about them.
And the A/C - heating guys. Aren't you glad they're there when you need them. Do I want to see them taxed out of business? Who would?
I'm sure good 'ole Obama would want one of them showing up in the middle of the night if his heat went out and he wants warmth. Of course, he has the money to pay for that middle of the night housecall. We don't but that's not the company owners fault. We're slapping down the very people who keep this country rolling.

they cannot arrest someone who is a known illegal criminal who has already been deported, unless a new crime is committed, so police can spot dangerous gange members whom they have already arrested and deported in the past, but there is nothing they can do until another crime is committed. If you voted for Obama, you are one of the two types of voters. Now, you either live in an area where there is enough working people that you never really see the downside of where all your taxes really go, or you know plenty who mooch already and feel you must stick up for them for some reason, why is that? Afraid you won't be "loyal" or do you feel you're entitled?
I believe in working for a living.... unfortunately, our government has long since forgot what a sovereign country is all about and managed to create an entire welfare country in just a few short decades!

but you should really try getting out of your little box. The issue with marriage isn't whether or not a man and woman can marry, but rather whether a gay or lesbian couple can marry. Remember Prop 8? That would be the law that just recently passed saying it was illegal for gays and lesbians to be married. They previously had this right -- It has now been taken away with Prop 8, funded by the religious community.

I live near MacDill and know
some people there, including my stepdaughter. They have been talking draft for some time now. My friends are against it; they feel working side by side with someone who does not want to be there is demoralizing. The administration, however, is rabidly obsessive about this and we all know what happens when they get their sights set on something. Also there has been much talk of foreign persons serving in our military, sort of like the French Foreign Legion; romantic...yes, practical, hardly. On the one hand we have the ** fears and queers** tactics spun to perfection by this administration. If anyone other than they are in office, we will be attacked. Cheney even got on TV and said Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania would be prime targets if Kerry was elected president, what a coincidence these were swing states with a lot of clout. And if the terrorists didn't get us, the homosexuals would. The fear tactic has worked wonders for them. What does not get much press (imagine - and us with a liberal press and all) is the government's willingness to allow complete open and free access to our country in certain instances....Dubai company running shipping ports, some ports of entry not being scrutinized at all, like say Tampa Bay, about 1 mile from MacDill, better known as CentCom. And now, they think foreigners in our military is a good idea. If that is not a shot direct to the heart of operations, if that is not aiding and abetting and enabling and empowering enemies I don't know what is. We can't know all sorts of things because it will **empower the terrorists** and we have to sacrifice our privacy and our rights because *the terrorists gonna get us..** but we are not only going to allow, but invite foreigners to join our military ranks, at the same time as building a 700-mile wall to keep foreigners out. Nuff said.
