Yes, I worked for them for 9 years and finally had to leave because they cut may pay in half. At least 4 people from my team alone have left, and I suspect many more are leaving. Horrible insurance with sky-high deductables, abusive team leaders, no holiday pay, expectations to work most holidays. I never got a raise in 9 years. Terrible place, they just keep cutting benefits/pay/perks.

I just left Spheris
I was there for a little over a year and I'm now moving on!

I went on a PRE-APPROVED vacation, only to come home to nasty emails from my supervisor about my not working and messages on my answering machine from someone in employee relations.

I returned the emails, explained that I had been on vacation (which my supe approved the time for), and that I could not call them back because I had lost my voice (which was true).

I got yet more emails, telling me that a phone conference had been scheduled for the very next day.

Again, I replied stating that I could not speak. I was told that if I did not call for the conference, I would be let go due to job abandonment.

Someone, PLEASE tell me when being able to speak became a requirement to be an MT. And when is it job abandonment if you go on an approved vacation?

It's all a bunch of bull there. I was a great employee, worked my scheduled shifts, met production, and had a consistent 99% QA rating.

OH, yeah, the insurance. They asked me to go to the doctor for my voice. I told them that due to the insurance being so poor I couldn't afford to go. ($3000 deductible, no co-pay) I told them that it was just a case of laryngitis and I would be fine in a few days, but of course didn't know when EXACTLY my voice would return.

I wouldn't go back to work for them if they doubled my line rate...and that's saying something.
I just left Spheris
and move to webmedx as well. Seems that is a common theme right now. Spheris needs to get on the ball.
I left Spheris to go to OSI
and it was the best move I ever made. I don't have low self esteem and I'm definitely not desperate for work as I have been offered positions with a number of other companies but chose OSi and I am quite happy there.
I left Spheris because of SR
I worked at Spheris for 3 years and was doing quite well. I left right before my account transitioned to the new platform and SR. I knew I couldn't make any money at SR. I went to a company that does not use SR (smaller company), and love it. If I were you, I'd get out now. The big companies are not the place to be right now.
I left Spheris to go to
OSI 3 years ago and it was the best move I ever made! I would not return to Spheris for any amount of money.
I left Spheris in September and glad I did
Went to Webmedx and LOTS of work even over the holidays, better base rate, too.
I left EDiX/Spheris after 8 years there to come to Webmedx. SM
I moved over here in 2003 because I knew the recruiter and she told me it was a great place to work. She was right. The benefits are fair, the work plentiful, the bosses fantastic, and the QA staff wonderful. Good luck!
Soooo many people have left!
I know that at least 20 or so people quit around the same time I did! Even though it is super annoying, it is sometimes funny to read their e-mails when they are panicking because they don't have enough people.
You see - all the good people have left OSI
She was super. She was treated very very badly at OSI. We will all be in better shape very soon as long as we can get another job before they are all taken. I think alot of people are leaving Medquist and they are going to be grapping some of the available jobs too. The old saying- Time is of the essence.

Yes, some really great, talented people have left, and that's
always a danger sign to me. If upper management keeps being mentioned as a reason these good people are leaving, somebody should take notice. This company seems to be hemorrhaging talent and keeping an incompetent, power-hungry suit. It's hard to know whether to leave or stay. I would not recommend them to anyone right now.
Diskriter - interested in talking to people who left. SM
I am presently working for another company and am somewhat satisfied.  Am considering Diskriter.  I do not want to make a wrong decision.  If you worked there and left, please let me know if you would be willing to give me some information (bad or good).  I know people hesitate to get into specifics on this forum - email me and I will contact you.  I am just so hesitant to make another change.

issue can this be.  Also, is the sound on these accounts poor.  That is the other problems I have heard people comment on.  I was really looking for uptodate comments.  How bad are these issues at present.  I dont want to leave one company with no work problems and go to another one with the same problem.  I cant be available 24/7 to get work with having a family.

Does Spheris have QA people?
Just curious. Their website only mentions MTs.
If you look back in the archives people left when they realized they couldn't make money with it.

You are so right; however, with horrible unitelligible dictators and lousy sound quality, I could not make a living there. Also, too many inconsistencies and subjective QA-ing. When the dictator says duh x-ray, and you type the and get counted off because QA thnks it should be an or ptient's x-ray that gets under one's skin in a hurry.

greatest!  Hated to hear that he had left.  We got some real doozies for tech help now.  The MT ends up training them.  They are clueless as to what to do when we need help.  TRUTH!

They ALWAYS have a BAD attitude in their voice, too -- like we MT's are a bother to them -- thought that is what they get paid for.

Spheris will hire you. They have lots of Career Step people.
As long as you do not need health insurance, they are fine for a new grad.

Don't imply you're worried at all. Just stating fact that Spheris does NOT allow a Spheris MT
work concurrently for MQ - no exceptions.  MQ, on the other hand, does not have the same feelings as Spheris.  Just all I had to say so that MTs aren't misled into thinking they can do the same "legally". Even went to the ropes on this issue with Spheris, as I was professional as well, and wouldn't share info, etc. The point they raised was that MQ is their direct #1 competition, and if I was typing for MQ and doing great work, that was in direct conflict of interest with Spheris' best interests.  Guess which one I obviously stuck with!!

People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check
after insurance deduction. Maybe your bank is holding it. Maybe anything! But we GOT PAID. This is NO LIE. And I am sick of this board. Nothing but disgruntled exemployees arguing with employees who like their job. Ugggg. I am working. BTW: THERE IS WORK (clears throat) remember that? Work?

I worked for SS and some people were very RUDE and I am talking about the editing people in some
instances.  It ALL depends on the person, as it does with any company.  They paid on time and the lady over me was very nice, but boy the person in QA was mean to EVERYONE!!  Never seen anything like it before.
Are people trying to scare people or just tell them what is happening. I am not scared just seeing
that things are changing very rapidly and not for the better for me. If I have no work and need multiple accounts everyone else is in the same boat now arent they that have my accounts. That is how people know what is going on.
Maybe due to the people that manage Amherst. I think MQ would be a lot better off finding new people
up there with all the problems you hear about that office. Seems like something is very very wrong there.
I doubt it. There are more happy people than unhappy people sm
at Medquist. I've checked out other companies but I liked MQ the best (I kept working at MQ while testing other companies).
SO right! People who get paid to bring people on-board -sm
to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.
More people will come into VR because the qualifcations to do MT are not the same. Lots of people w
to work at home. It's all relative to what you are used to. The nationals are counting on this. I think MTs will work cheaper rather than reenter the work force with no other skills than MT. The nationals are counting on this.

need to keep from naming names.  I thought it was an informative bit of information, but when you name names, then posts are way out of line. 

I would really like to see a truly professional way of talking about a company.  I don't care what board you go to, somehow people just do not want to play nice when it comes to talking about people.  If those people could learn to be a little more professional and stop posting names to their wrath or anger, then that will be the day I can say I am proud to be in this profession.  When I see those types of things, it makes my skin crawl.  If it were me being talked about, I would be livid.  I certainly understand why the posts were deleted.

My experience with Spheris isn't bad at all. I have been with Spheris sm
6 months and already have 40 hours PTO. I was shocked.  Spheris is a  great company.  After 90 days I did get my sign on bonus and didn't even have to ask.  There is soooooooooooooooo much that Spheris offer I wasn't even aware of.  I am so glad that I didn't listen to the negative posts on this board in regards to Spheris because I am a happy camper.
Dont kid yourself that people dont know what is going on. Do you honestly think these office people
dont talk. Maybe you should make sure you know what you are talking about before you open your mouth.
Who said people who work for KS aren't happy for people who work for (sm)
other companies?  I'm happy for people who are happy with their jobs, no matter what company they work for.

I would keep looking. I left after a
month because of the very low and convoluted pay scale, as well as the fact that I was never kept on an account long enough to build up any speed. Unless things have changed, you'll waste a lot of time looking up information that other services provide. They're nice people and they paid on time, but I didn't see enough earning potential so I moved on. BTW, I had 15 years of experience at that time and 99+% QA scores.
When I left
I was told by my PS that if I went with another company, MQ would one day buy it and then fire any MQ working there who had left MQ for that company. At the time it seemed like an empty threat, but who knows?
I did too, but left them behind and

I tell you why I left

Did you notice on Spantel the time difference?  You could be working in the evening yet the system would show it was the next day?  I was told about that when I was hired, yet I was constantly hearing from my manager about not having enough lines and there they were, credited for the next day.  They lost paperwork constantly as well and I had to work an entire month before getting paid because somebody lost the paperwork I filled out. 

I'd check my lines and see a list of jobs that showed 0 lines...yet go back in later and some would be there.  It was very very inconsistent.


LOL - that's why I left!!
