Alphamed advertising again for VR. The turn-off may be the whole whopping 3 cpl offered for VR
We are in America and we are trying to survive on AMERICA'S cost of living. We cannot live on India wages. When are these companies going to wake up. They want you to have experience, yet they want to pay you a few pennies a line. They also state there are ESLs. Have THEY tried to do VR on those reports, 3 cpl is NOT enough. You practically re-type the whole thing. Another joke. This business is getting too sad.
I see people asking what the best company is, so I am going to turn the tables here. What would sm

a company be the best.  What type of rate would you want realistically?  Benefits?  IC or employee?  Direct deposit important?  What pay schedule - weekly, every other Friday, 1st and 15th, once a month?  What makes you stay at a company?  What makes you leave?  Equipment?  Training?  QA?  Etc???

AllType 6 months ago offered 8 cpl to start and only up to 8.5 cpl with heavy ESL production. Want

I was offered 10 cpl; after 5 years at MQ
at a MUCH lower rate, and NEVER an increase in 5 years, plus now they've also calculated the line counts to be much lower, I feel LUCKY to get 10 cpl!   I'm thrilled to death, jumping up and down for joy!  I too have almost 20 years of experience as a career MT.
You offered 6 cpl for someone with nearly 20 years
I wonder how much you charge your clients if you can only pay MTs 6 cpl and QA 1.5 cpl.

I would never insult someone with that many years of experience with an offer of 6 cpl. And yes, it is an insult. There are plenty of other MTSOs with consistent work where one can make a lot more than 6 cpl. Why would someone want to work for that? Probably they are new with no experience or they are clueless as to their own worth or they are NO GOOD.

It is highly unprofessional of you to come on here talking like this about former employees, good or bad. Very tacky, and it speaks volumes about your character.

I obviously turned down your offer of 6 cpl, but I'm really glad others have sites like this to come to where they can find out from other MTs what a place is like to work at. As someone else said, smart people can filter through the posts here and decide for themselves whether a company is a good fit or not. Former employees' rants and raves can be dismissed as disgruntled. However, your own rants are just pathetic. You just opened your mouth and proved to all that most of the prior posts are likely accurate. You should take Business 101.

I have 20 years and have never been offered
and if you're reliable you probably do, but if they give it to you with 10 years of experience, then they have to shell it out to everyone with 10 years or more, so doubt you'll get 10 cpl.  I've only been offered 9 at the most.  Good luck though...
And with 20+ years, you still get offered

It seems like the longer you are in the business, the less they offer.  Funny how that works.  I've never been offered more than 9 ever and that's for clinic which on a few occasions was really acute care they were trying to pass off as clinic.  All of this trickery goes along with the business.  If anyone is making 10 cpl, then they either have been with the company a long time OR they are being paid an incentive to go above and beyond a certain line quota.

Companies post their rate of pay, at least most of them, so there is no guess work.  For a while there I'd say about a year ago, most were actually putting in the ads - rate is not negotiable...  cracked me up!  Everything in this fine country is negotiable!

We are being offered that with 20+ years

Consider yourself lucky you're not at 6 cpl.

What do they pay experienced people to start? -n/m
?
6.5 cpl ???? They START people higher than that. sm
I think they start at 8 cpl or 8.5 cpl and they do raise up according to account and time with them, etc. I make 9.5 cpl with them but have been there a while. I average 20,000 lines a pay period. Radiology is great because of shortcuts and macros!
6.5 cpl ???? They START people higher than that. sm - RAD-KS
i may just apply!  6.5 is not good at 10 yrs of Rad experience.  I got offered 9 somewhere but as an IC and this company I dont think cares because I have yet to hear from the lead Transcriptionist about training i.e. welcome to the group etc... I am just confused about IC companies today..  At least with employee status, it is much more organized about when things will take place.
Offered 7.25 cpl for 30 years experience - sm
Your offer sounds like a good deal compared to mine, but neither is what we are worth.
TTS offered me 6.5 cpl with 20 years' experience
NM
I was offered 8 cpl with 19 years of experience.
I was going to give it a try, but I didn't want to purchase equipment for a job paying 8 cpl.  Sorry, but that's way low if you ask me.  I think it is a rather small company though.
I have many many years of experience and was offered....
7.5 cpl as employee or 9 cpl for IC. Seemed way too low to me, especially after I was told what the account was like. They seem nice, but nice doesn't pay the bills! Good luck to you!

20 years of experience and offered

I was offered 8 cpl with 12 years of experience. Did NOT accept the job!! nm

Two years ago I was offered .075 cpl. Horrible dictators!

I had applied but they offered 7 cpl for 14 years experience..I said NO...
That's about all I know. I cant remember what kind of work it was either, but I wouldnt do clinic or acute care for that low pay.
The wages offered to MTs with alot of years is (sm)
in addition to the adjectives you used, downright demeaning, and bordering on questioning one's self-worth. I'm really so sick over it because for the past 2 decades I have devoted my life to MTing; gave 100+% each and every day, kept up with the new drugs/terminology (on my own time). I even have gone so far beyond what is expect because of my love of MTing and medicne, that rather than read a good juicy romance novel at bedtime, I'd read one of the doc's I transcribed for leftover medical journals, just keep on top of the game. This was while working inhouse--- and all because I was properly compensated for my hard efforts. Working from home for an online,....that don't give a rats azz....all they want are the lines and 98.5% accuracy at all times. Period. That's just one of the problems with working from home -- the impersonalization that accompanies it. I'm headed back inhouse where I'm appreciated, have a blast with my coworkers, docs, nurses, tecs, and be paid what I am worthy of after doing this for over 1/4 century. No more penny checks for me. No more line counts. No QAing. AMEN.
Most generally lots of people on here to start trouble????

Bringing this back up from below posted by Babe  People come here to get advice, and seeking opinions on companies good or bad.  Sure, there are a few bad apples that will not be happy anywhere they go but I think most of us all want the same thing, an honest and good company to work for.  To post only the positive would be great, but then as we all know, there are companies that do their advertising right here posing as MTs, only to find out later when we get burned and have to start the entire process of testing and bouncing yet to another job.  You are either very naive about the MT world we live in today, or more likely you are a company official that doesn't like anything negative posted about your company, specially when its lots of it.  I don't think anyone is stupid enough to believe everything they see here, but if you see a  lot of  specifics about a particular company and you experienced it yourself, then you have to give that some credibility and back that person up - this could be good information or bad information.  My assessment of KS personally is that I have not seen anything that would sway me in any way.  Any information I have seen here leaves me as feeling neutral.I think people just want an honest opinion, thats all.  I guess you perceive a negative post warning about another company's ripoff techniques starting trouble  Hmmm.. makes me wonder what chair you're sitting in, sure don't sound like an MT.

Think you still have to go to NJ to train. Was offered a very low per-page rate several years ago.

I was offered 8 cpl w/years of experience. He wouldn't say if pay would go up if I didn't take

About 5 years ago was offered 10 cpl including spaces, 65 characters. sm
Don't know about now. That was doing all acute care, mainly op reports with full benefit package.

I declined and have my own accounts, but it was a good offer.

Good luck.
I was offered 8.25 cpl in the beginning of 2006. Turned it down. 13+ years in.

Does Sten-Tel start their experienced people at a low wage, too, or just the newbies? Thx. nm

Fifteen years experience here and also offered 8 cpl as a max at multiple companies. This biz is
going down hill fast. I remember making 10 cpl 10 years ago and that was cheap..Only profession I know that has gone down in wages rather than up. Very sad. If you offered 8 cpl..take it..
How recent is this info? A contact said I'd be lucky to start at 7 cpl w/years of exp. nm

webmedix- I have 25 years exp., was offered low rate of pay. Heard it is a good company. nm

Great advice. Is people stop working for them, maybe they will start paying attention. I wonder if .
their clients know they do not pay their MTs to do the work. You can bet that Rapid Transcript is getting paid by the client. What a ripoff. Just the fact that they have an F rating by the BBB woudl be enough of a turn-off for me. Crappy business practices.
After 8 years in the business, I start buying presents in August, cause I know the slow period SM

is coming around the holidays.  :-)

Not to say we dont all starve and Im not totally stressed out come December, but at least Ive got my gifts :-)

I have seen people with 15 years of experience
that cannot type anything correctly, so you may want to look at your work more closely.
People with even 30+ years experience would
like to know.

The same thing happened to me 2 years ago. That Indian creep gets people to work

for him. He gives this scale of how you are supposed to be paid, but it NEVER, EVER is the high range that you KNOW you are owed and deserve.  So, then your production and earning come up and they are WAY off base.  On top of that, he either pays you late or not at all.  This is fair warning...DO NOT WORK FOR CALLSTREET!

TransHealth has some that start the next month after you start work. nm

Where do you turn if you have went
to your supervisor and even one step above to her supervisor and still get the same BS - what then? I have begged and pleaded for over a year to be taken off the account I am on now and be placed back on my orginal account. In one ear and out the other. I had no problem with them either until they put me on this account "only to help out." With all the office closing it is like talking to some secret agent when you try talking to a supervisor - you get NO WHERE.

I'm sorry to show my ignorance, but where is SL?

I am very glad that you are happy and I do hope that it stays that way for you. I used to feel the same way. I never had a problem with communicating until all this closing office stuff started. I think as a long time employee I do have a right to know what is going on, but that is just me.
My turn
I returned to KS 3 months ago after leaving and going back to MQ. Talk about a company in trouble? MQ should go into the Guiness Book. I am back with KS and happy as can be. KS will continue to grow because the owner is honest and sincere. I know because of how she has helped me personally with several issues. So, for those who bash KS, ignore them please. There is no perfect MT company in this country and there never will be. For me, KS is home for good. For others, it just may have not been in the cards.
you then turn off the TV - get over yourself...nm

Turn it down!
How many hours a day will you need to work in order to make good money??!! Let them edit their own work for peanuts. I can make more transcribing than sifting through garbage dictations from not-so-great MTs.
I would turn them in for sure! Nothing OSi does
would surprise me.  I quit working for them because of all the phone calls to work on my day off, etc.  That company is so unprofessional and unorganized.
Enough to turn me off, too! nm

Why would they turn on her? Because most likely, she's one that
Like these ads that state Must have at least 20 years of experience, no exceptions, must work well independently, must be dependable, must know our software inside and out, and must be able to produce 1500 lines a day (... and oh, yeah, pay is 7 cpl). Sorry, but any self-respecting person would take a job that pays more for the same amount of work! That's a given. This MTSO says she does the same - finds the MTs that will do the same amount of work for less pay and grabs them. Absolutely no difference. It works both ways, show some loyalty and respect and you'll receive that in return. Something tells me if she found an MT willing to work for an even lower rate than the ones she has now, she'd dump her current MTs in a heartbeat so she could rack up more money in her piggy bank. Pathetic. All that said, I don't even believe a word she says. Smells like a troll to me.
Yes, I turn one in.
I have worked for other companies on Bayscribe where I have not been required to turn in a line count, but Oracle does request you turn one in. It really is no big deal.
You do not have to turn one in and you will
Since you are IC, they want to cover THEIR bases with the IRS by saying you have invoiced them, when in reality, they couldn't care less about your invoice; they pay you what they get on line count, not what you come up with.....

Of course, that is completely illegal but it is done anyway. according to IRS guidelines, as an IC you determine pay rate and YOU invoice them for the amt owed you, but they are not following that. Like I said, they are just trying to cover themselves in case someone said anything but on the other hand, wage and hour would definitely be interested in their practices as well as the IRS.

Many do this, however....
Did you turn them down?
After your schooling (as it sounds like you got a job elsewhere).

If so, was it a cpl issue?

Thanks for any further info.
LOL!!! Okay - here's my posting - your turn!
HIlarious in a sick control freak kinda way!
