I left there as they were always running out of work from overhiring.

Overhiring at Webmedx
Do you think they do that at USA Transcription also? They said they would get back with me in 1-2 days and it's been 5 days now.
WEBMEDX STOP OVERHIRING!! nm
nm
You may want to look elsewhere. Massive hiring spree
.
May I ask why you left Webmedx? nm
.
I left WebMedX Too
They did exactly that.  They hired like crazy and all accounts kept running out of work.  I got so far behind on my bills I was afraid I'd never pull out, but thank goodness, I got a better offer and so far I do feel more secure.  WebMedx has nice people, but they don't keep their word, and they DO OVERHIRE.
Think it'd do any good to email our hospitals and ask them if they have had a massive slow down i

I would recommend a PT job. I left Webmedx because
I was having to take money out of savings to pay bills.  Some days I got 4 reports during my 8 hour shift.  I would work my weekends to try and make-up lines and I would work 12-14 hours/day.  I worked they schedule they told me I needed to work.  I was okay with it at first, but then they hired people to work Friday-Monday only and there was not enough work on my weekends to come anywhere close to making up lines.   They didn't tell me when I was hired (or anyone else on the account) that it was just an overflow account.  I figured out my looking at the past reports that they weren't getting all the work.   I stuck it out 4 months, but finally left when it became apparent that they weren't a bit concerned that I wasn't making lines.  I got 2 more accounts and managed to get a few more lines in, but neither account had enough work to make up the difference.  There were always a few accounts that had lots of OT, several of them were difficult accounts.  I even asked to work on one of them and was told I couldn't work on it as a secondary account.   There have been lots of complaints lately about lack of work, although there area always those who saw they have plenty of work.  It doesn't matter if they do if you don't, unless they are going to pay your bills for you.
Left Webmedx and have yet to see computer deposit
Has anyone out there left Webmedx and had their computer deposit returned? I returned the computer on 8/22 and have not heard anything since. All the phone numbers at the Operations Center in PA go straight to voicemail. Any ideas?
Left MQ after 10 years for Webmedx, a better place. nm

I left EDiX/Spheris after 8 years there to come to Webmedx. SM
I moved over here in 2003 because I knew the recruiter and she told me it was a great place to work. She was right. The benefits are fair, the work plentiful, the bosses fantastic, and the QA staff wonderful. Good luck!
I also vote for Webmedx - used to work for the Q, left long ago sm
Have not worked for Transcend or SoftScript so can't judge. I agree with the above poster; pay good, shift diff, PTO, decent bennies. Lots of work. Keep in mind there are two parts of Webmedx - the one on Enterprise platform and ChartMatrix; the ChartMatrix side seems to have more negative reviews.
Webmedx: 3 days only PTO? True?

Sounds like a great company with a lot of good feedback on this board, but I read somewhere that they only have 3 days PTO annually.  |Could this possibly be true?  The other companies I am applying to all list 10 days or greater per year.  Webmedx is my first choice, but I don't think I can live with never having a vacation again.  Anyone?

I left them over 4 years ago. Best thing I ever did. Moved to Webmedx. Quite happy. nm

Webmedx, not rumors, true story

Maybe you work on accounts that are not experiencing ASR yet.  All I can tell you is I have gone from around 1700 lines a day to now struggling to get 1000 and get those only because I consistently sit at my desk clicking new report to be taken to another job, and many times there are no jobs available.  I am not spreading rumors.  This is a true story of what has happened to an employee, one who has been called a most valuable employee, one who has worked diligently for 3 years for this company and has over 30 years experience.  And, yes, I have multiple accounts.  In fact, at the present time I have 20 accounts as I have called several times to request more work so my family does not suffer.

I am not a complainer, not looking to cause ill-will.  I am a concerned employee of a company who has not been straight foward regarding what is happening to our employment.  Of course, this may not be happening across the board in all accounts, but it certainly is in mine and if you look at the posts on this board, I am not alone.

I am a good worker, reliable, accurate, with high QA, a producer and work on the most difficult accounts with lots of ESL.  Do not judge a situation which you do not know.

Ohhhhh, sooooooo true -- Transtech tech people absolutely stink anymore since ____ left. He was the

greatest!  Hated to hear that he had left.  We got some real doozies for tech help now.  The MT ends up training them.  They are clueless as to what to do when we need help.  TRUTH!

They ALWAYS have a BAD attitude in their voice, too -- like we MT's are a bother to them -- thought that is what they get paid for.

With MQ for about 10 years after they ate YOG. With Webmedx now. What K posted rings true for me.
I'm not wild about my STM, but that person is a definite step up from the Q. E-mail me if you'd like. Work is plentiful on the acute care, Enterprise side. OT is available frequently. No place is perfect, but they have decent incentives, although the PTO is a little bleak. Best of luck.
Proceed with caution...
Be CAREFUL!   Very very careful!   Some flaky stuff going on over there...
If you proceed - do so with caution.
//
Proceed with caution?
What do you know about this company that you are not saying?  The name of the company is FASTPHALANGES.  What did you not get about that?
proceed with caution
To be fair, when I worked there I really enjoyed my accounts and had a good relationship with my manager. They do have an awesome platform. Then my manager disappeared with no explanation, my good accounts got pulled, and communication really shut down. One day in June my user number was deactivated, and it took me all day to find out I was laid off. There is so much turmoil there now, and many US MTs have been poorly treated. I would be careful. Give them another year or so to stabilize and get their act together, then maybe things will be different (if they survive that long). Best of luck to you!
Proceed with caution...
I keep getting those emails, too, because I applied with them quite awhile back, passed the testing, but declined their offer. Once I started reading many of the posts on this wonderful forum, I was relieved I had passed on their offer.

Please read the archives before you make any decisions regarding Focus. I gather for some, it's a great fit, but the majority of posts I've read here paint a not-so-pretty picture of the company.

Best of luck to you making your decision!!!
Ditto what she said - Proceed with caution! nm
/
agree about caution prevailing
--you have been offered sage advice by these posters.  I am in a situation akin to yours.  My fantasy had be quitting my other job straightaway upon the start of at-home work.  Ha!  So glad I did not.  I will resume my hunt for a job suiting me and am relieved that I can expand my search beyond (at-home) transcription.  Perhaps my foray into at-home land has coincided with beginning a position with a really mean-spirited company--dunno, but as another poster wrote, it is apparent even in these early and few hours with this company that I am to expect unresponsiveness, punitive policies, a lack of forthright disclosure of the meat and potatoes of what matters most (pay and how it is determined), and silly, incompetent tech support--all this moaning about a company where there are happy employees!  I dunno, perhaps I am with an acct. and thus acct. managers who are not as good at their jobs as are other acct. mgs. of the same company; still, I know what I know and I know how ugly this situation feels and am very, very relieved that I did not resign my other position with another job.  Have to say--if I am as legitimately put off by my cyber-and-phone encounters with the staff at the company for which I am in the waning hours of working, what on earth does that say about what I am to expect?  I thus will resign my at-home position without a backwards glance, very happy to have the erstwhile security of my other job.
use caution before making the decision to jump to TH
x
I'm with you. Proceed with caution basically. Hope for the best and (m)
prepare to have to seek out other avenues. I was raised to be considerate of others at all times and not to screw anybody over, so it's really foreign to me that people would knowingly screw others for their own personal gain. It goes against my DNA to believe such people exist so I have to remind myself not to be a fool and that people like this DO exist. Unfortunately, they weren't all raised by MY parents, lol. But if they treat people like that, eventually they will be TREATED like that and their luck will run out. Then they'll see they shouldn't have been so uncaring about us regular folks.
Wow. One of my friends was thinking of applying there. I'll have to caution her!
I had no idea they were so bad! They offered me a position a year ago, but I turned it down and ended up going with Keystrokes, and I'm glad that I did! They kick you off the system when there is low work? That's screwed up!
Overhiring
Just wondering if anyone feels their companies are suddenly overhiring in order to benefit with the unhappy Medquist MTs looking to make a move. Suddenly the work flow seems very low and that is not usually the case where I work.

SPI overhiring?

Any other SPI MTs frustrated with their accounts suddenly all being empty because of what appears to be overhiring - AGAIN?  It seems to be feast or famine.

Overhiring
They have overhired!!! I am sick and tired of working on many accounts. I am looking for other employment myself.

Good Company, but they LIED to ME AND PULLED A BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!! Too many people on each account.
overhiring
Well according to Maggie's comments last week we deserve it because we are not good MTs and are just goofing off!
Overhiring
I have more than 2 accounts and have nothing this morning. OT has been in place for me since I started and there was always work. It is a known fact that they overhire and will continue to do so. When I do Alt-G to pull up old reports, there is a boat-load of new employee names, which has become obvious by the lack of work and being pushed to second and third accounts during the week.
It's the overhiring for TAT.
x
probably overhiring
in anticipation of those new accounts the owner referenced last week in her email where she said they'd be hiring 40 more MTs (or however many it was).

Not only is it tough when they bring on new people before the accounts start, I think some MTSOs do the same thing airlines do - overbook/overhire in anticipation that some people won't show up anyway.
They are notorious for overhiring. They do sm
this all the time and the loyal employees eat it in favor of the new people getting all of their work. It is mismanagement in the extreme. Despite them constantly saying we appreciate all you do, they do not take the loyal employees into account when overhiring/early hiring people for accounts that do not yet exist.

NO JUSTIFICATION FOR OVERHIRING.....SM
Just another example of the exploitation of MTs by the companies.  Sure, they want to make sure they have enough MTs to keep their TAT and their clients...so they hire extra for insurance.  It costs them nothing to put us on ice ... waiting for work which won't come.  I tested with this company about a year back...phone test where you're asked about half hour's worth of questions.  Told me I did well on the oral test and transcription part, but we don't have any work right this minute...but they'll call you.  (I'm going to hold my breath and sit here waiting and tell my grocer, landlord, creditors, I have nothing right now but I'll call you....LOL).  Same principle as when airlines overbook, with the full support of federal govt.
And this justifies overhiring?...SM

Of course, you know these employees are slackers, right? While in the same breath mention experiencing lack of work yourself.

Whether or not there are slackers on a company's payroll, that is a separate issue to be dealt with accordingly.  It does NOT justify 'HIRING A FEW EXTRAS who have to sit there and wait for work while their bills pile up, just so the MTSO (God forbid!) gets out of TAT.  Overhiring is overhiring when there is no work ... MTSOs can justify it any way they want.  It's just another example of MT exploitation.

Low work and overhiring again.
Guess if you don't work both days on the weekend, you get your cue shut off on your work during the weekdays. Such a kind strategy for a company employing ICs, does not pay benefits or time off.  They ultimately have the control. Isn't that nice? And it's a company which does not off shore. Guess they believe they got us. So sweet. I assume if you work there you know who I am talking about.
Overhiring and need for fast TAT
Just my opinion. They want us to be right behind the dictators. My supervisor starts sending out frantic e-mails if we get over 100 minutes saying that he is about to start calling people to get to work.
Overhiring is the other issue

Many of us have no work NOW, and can't pay our bills NOW.  What will it be like when we're all even faster and getting paid even less?  We've been losing accounts as fast as we can recruit new ones.

TRANSTECH STOP OVERHIRING !!!!! N/M
n
Does that include the overhiring practice of Transcend's
so none of us can make a decent living, or the miserable platform transcend brought with it?
YEP...Just want I suspected as the reason we have very little work OVERHIRING
They repeatedly hire yet we have hardly any work. Course, I suppose it could be the revolving door as the cause.
It's not just overhiring. They are sending the best work to India.
They have always sent work there but I believe they have geared up these efforts in the past six months, and the easiet work (ER). That is when I noticed there was not consistent work.  I had to move on and so will others.
Then they should give that work to those who have a shortage. Otherwise, they are overhiring. nm

Lets just hope they are not overhiring lately and we will find we are all going to be out of work
especially after Summer.
I see there is an ad on MT Jobs for MDI Maryland and I was reading the posts below about overhiring
on the accounts. Is this a situation that seems to be getting worse on all accounts. I was interested in talking with the lady but not if there is no work. I have that problem now and I dont need it again. Seems like that is the new thing with MT companies to see who can have the shortest turnaround time. Are MDI Maryland accounts loaded with ESLs or decent accounts.
I have no guilt - I am not the sole employee who caused overhiring..sm
First of all, I am not the one who posted that there are over 500 jobs - that was someone else.  Yes, I did say the work has picked up lately but then I went on to say that all of us employees need to stay on the ball so more won't be hired which would lead us to the same place where we were months ago - wishing there was more work to go around.  Second, I don't have any guilt - I was merely stating a fact of what happened in my situation because I cannot speak for anyone elses situation.  I was trying to explain and make a point at the same time.  The point being when people aren't available to work, these companies are forced to find others who can and will do the job no matter what the circumstances are.  And I was also trying to point out that they are a good company - they understand that things happen and they give you the benefit of the doubt but at the same time they have to make sure they are covered too.  Third, I knew there would be some rude remarks.  There can NEVER be a post that talks nice about a company without ONE person making rude remarks - but to each his own!  All I know is I am happy with them, happy to be employed by them - that is why I felt the need to try to defend them somewhat.  They are a great company and I just hated to see them face all of the negativity that they do not deserve!
Are well all running out of work? Seems late in Jan for that? Overhiring? Reminds me of the Q...
:(
Overhiring and giving new-hires false impressions that
they'll be able to make a decent day's pay is scamming too, cupcake.
