When we signed up for the new vision and dental, it said in the forms that it started 6/1. Deductio

In Reply to: Keystrokes drops a mini bomb the day before payday! sm - Not a happy KSer right now

They were waiting for the paperwork from the insurance company, so it was delayed. Technically, the money should have come out on 6/1 and you knew this signing up for it.

I don't want to sound uncaring, but we knew when we signed up that the premiums were monthly and started 6/1. I had the extra month of $15, so I knew it would come out.

The truth is that the double was $30 but one was only $15, so it was $15 extra. If they had taken it out last month, would you have been complaining?

I personally am glad that we have vision and dental now and that every year my benefits get better rather than being taken away like with some companies.

Also, it is the bank that determines that if it falls on the 1st, it posts on Monday. My bank posts on Saturday, so not a problem. Before you complain, make sure you have something to complain about. They have also had them in on the Friday in the past, so I am not going to bash a good company for something that has not happened. If it does go on Monday, that is what we know from day one, so it is not that they are pulling a fast one or making changes; this is the way it has been for the 5 years I have worked for them.

Dental and vision are separate and extra. sm

I don't know how much, though, because I tossed the info on it as the provider list for the dental was SO LIMITED it wasn't even worth it, I couldn't get any dentist I wanted.

Their individual insurance is $52 a mo and their dental and vision
run it up to about $60 a month. If you leave, you also get to Cobra the dental and vision together at $30 a month. I know because I left and went back. Nice folks.
Yes, medical, dental, vision, and life
nm
about 180 per 2 weeks for family, dental, and vision.

Vision and dental are separate.  250 deductible.  there is a cap of out of pocket expenses for family, I am not sure as I am not covered right now, but will in the near future.  they pay 90%.  Office visits Co-pay with medication co-pay.  It is really a great coverage and by far the best from what other companies offer that I have found.

Hope that helps.  Check them out.  I think they are great to work for!

I pay about $75 per pay period for medical, dental, vision with TT sm

for single coverage -- I don't consider that 'huge, especially compared to other quotes I have seen.  I definitely paid more than that when I had coverage on my own.

I have medical, dental, and vision at TransTech for about $72 per pay period. nm

I don't think you missed much. When I looked at the dental and vision plans sm

with AFLAC, it didn't look like they paid for much compared with the premium charged.  I didn't talk to the representative guy, though, so maybe I misinterpreted the info.  Anyway, I am trying to shop for something different, just to help cover the basics.  I do wish I had taken out the disability protection with them, though ... maybe next year.  :-)

I am extremely grateful for the insurance, though.  So far, it seems to pay pretty well and has been a lifesaver!

Blue Cross medical,Guardian dental, Spectera vision, 10,001 lines per pay period. sm
Cost per pay period for single coverage is $94.36, $1.68 vision, $7.06 dental.  Hope this helps.
W-2 forms

I quit working for OSi this past summer and I have not gotten my W-2s yet.  Does anyone else have this problem?

DeVenture tax forms
Did anyone at DeVenture get your tax forms yet?  Are we going to get them mailed to us or print them off the payroll site.  I saw that option wasn't available right now though.  Thanks!!! :-)
I would only do the mininum forms...
required to learn more about the job. To me, it does no good to go through a 30-day process of sorts only to find out say, for instance, pay is not acceptable for you.
COBRA only available for 18 months...you MUST do forms...sm
don't get the paperwork in and they have no reason to carry you. With COBRA, all you do is stay on a group insurance plan and pay the full price. Not the best choice for price conscious medical insurance UNLESS you have ANY medical conditions. If you are completely healthy, (no hypertension, diabetes, basically any diagnosis, even neck pain) you can get individual. Think about a high deductible ($5000 yr) if you don't go to the doctor or maybe only go once a year. Then also check out a Health Savings Account (plenty of info on web and at government web sites). But COBRA is not an insurance. It is only allowing you to get in on a group plan at the group price but you pay it all, including what your employer was paying for you.
Go to IRS web site and find forms...sm
look for 1040-ES forms. You will have to print this off...next one is April 15, and send in your payment for federal taxes. Next payment will be in June, short period. You may have to print these off the rest of the year but the IRS will send you payment coupons at some point with your information already on there. Until then, you will have to look there for the info, according to where you live, to mail it to. Then, go to your state government website and look for tax forms for self-employment taxes, print this off and mail it in by the same date, April 16 this year. Your state may or may not send you payment coupons....mine did at one time but then stopped, so I have to print them off myself...they're too busy spending my tax dollars on junk than to send me preprinted forms. Hope this helps.
You could always use your last year's tax forms for the FASA...nm
xx
How do we fill out the forms requested via email when we don't

have printers suppled by TT with their computers.  Help, pls

No forms of foul language are allowed, that's what got your post removed.

Less than $360 for family at MQ. Med/Den/Vision
nm
Do they still pay vision since switching
to TriNet?   The rates went up pretty significantly on everything else.
Does anyone know anything about Vision Infonet?
curious.  I could find no info, except for MD help or something.  just wondering. tia.
If vision is an option, can you answer this? sm
Any eye care specialist (or contact lens wearer) attest that glasses do not improve vision as well as contacts lenses. Contacts correct the peripheral vision whereas glasses do not. Also, speaking from personal experience, NOTHING compares to LASIK. Contacts corrected my vision to 20/20 bilaterally. I had LASIK done almost 3 years ago and my vision is still 20/15 in both eyes.

I had custom wavefront, which was pretty pricy at $3300. However, I haven't paid a dime for vision correction since my procedure. Before LASIK, I would estimate my annual eyecare costs ranging from $450 to $600.

Insurance companies will pay for auditory surgery such as cochlear implants to correct hearing impairment, which they should. But how is surgery to correct hearing any different than LASIK to correct a visual impairment? Couldn't the same argument (cosmetic)be used if a hearing aid provided the same benefit as an expensive cochlear implant?

I just don't understand the inconsistency. Could it be that people with visual problems far outnumber those with hearing loss? Just a thought.
They don't pay for vision unless you have medical insurance.
When I first started they paid for vision, but unless you get medical coverage it is no longer free, unless it changed with the enrollment that is going on now.
The foreseeable future is viewed through 20/200 vision.
which means it's not going to be too far down the road.
I believe Jan 1. I already used the dental,
and it paid 100%. Just got the EOB today. And with my great new dentist, I just showed my card and they filed it, and I didn't have to pay it myself like I did with my last dentist. They didn't even file it for me.
Dental

We get an occasional dental surgery report on some of our hospital accounts.

Just FYI:  I had extensive dental work and oral surgery done 2 years ago and asked both places about their transcription.  They said they do it inhouse.

I was hired and started in 1 week. That is not a long set-up time. When I started with our local h
I needed to get a physical and go through orientation at the hospital which is only given two times per month. This is a 900-bed hospital, so it cannot be an unusual process. MQ took 2 weeks. KS took 1 week. SoftScript never got me started even after repeated calls and emails.

I have only been with KS for 9 months but would never put them in the same catagory as the others you mentioned. They are the best company I have worked for, and unfortunately, I have bounced around a little in the last 5 years.

Dental Transcription
Hello does anyone know of any at home dental transcription companies?
My dental hygienist
is a guy. He makes tons of money and loves his job.
How is Medquist's dental insurance? sm
Is there a waiting period of 1 year before you can use it? If not, is there a waiting period of 1 year before you can use it for orthodontics or dentures? Some policies you have to wait a year to use it and others you can use it for fillings and such, but have to wait a year for anything really major.
How is the medical/dental for Medquist?
Curious to know before I take the test. Cost? Coverage?
Medical/Dental MedQuist

The coverage just switched in July from Aetna to United HealthCare.  I have single coverage and pay $63 per pay for health and $8.58 for dental. I don't know how good this United coverage is because I haven't used it yet. But I know there are 2 or 3 different plans you can sign up for.  I have to pay a little more because my doctor is an out of network doctor. I know if you have a doctor who is already in their network it's cheaper. I also have short-term disability that they take out about $11 for.  I don't know about the dental because I haven't used it for a while. The only dentist on their list that was in my area was about 50 miles away. So I'm hoping nothing happens to my teeth!  If you have any more questions you can e-mail me.

DSGs dental insurance
Does the dental insurance that DSG offers have a $1000 annual limit on amount of payout?
not paying for life or dental
Not many companies pay for dental or life. With the way things are going in this county, can you blame them? If we still have work, keep working! I am not giving up on this company until I get my OUT THE DOOR NOTICE! Believe me- I sure in the heck don't want that to happen- love my accounts and the fact that we do not have to do a time clock. Yes, we need to work our schedules, but not punching in and out is a good feeling!
BC/BS with $1K deductible, dental is normal sm
coverage and as the person below pointed out, you are wrong on the PTO.  Also, last year we were allowed to choose a plan with a lower deductible and pay for it and that choice was not given to us this year.  Why don't you try telling the truth about Webmedx instead of prettying up everything?
Webmedx offers PPO and good dental. nm

Dental is thru Metlife (good coverage). sm
Platform is their own, uses ShortHand for expander.
JLG no longer paying Dental or life

first direct deposit now this??? scary!!!

I paid 80 per pay period without eye or dental coverage. nm

Oh, no. Think I may have just signed on
Can you give a general idea of the misrepresented positions? Frankly, I'm going into the thing expecting the worst.
I signed on for that
and I've yet to see any work. I check daily. They don't care either if you don't have any work.
Well when I first signed on

they had work comming out of their ears, when I left there was hardly anything.  I have heard they picked up again.  I had 2 different supes.  One on the training team, one on my team after traninng.  They were both great.

They have 2 platforms, ex-text and Merit.  I worked on Merit (sp).   It had some good features and then some features EX text had that I wished it had.   It ran great on my 6 yo cheapo computer I got from Wal-Mart.

The hospital that I am working at say they are going to ASR.  They have not said, but I bet that means we will be getting a pay cut.  They have already quit paying us for headers, footers.  I don't know but if things get too bad I will probably look back into Medware FT if that tells you anything.  HTH.

Tell them you signed up as an IC and will
work when you are able and/or want to. As an IC, let them know that they cannot hold you to specific hours as was agreed upon when you started with them.
Co-Signed!!!
I've even worked with *seasoned/experienced* MTs who refuse to change one single word of what a physician dictates, even when it is BLATANTLY an error and the correct word is obvious (calm down, I'm not talking medical lingo here, I'm talking basic English words). I've also worked with MTs who, if the dictator says *Discharge diagnoses, Same,* types precisely THAT, *Same*, rather than copying and pasting the admission diagnoses, even though she knows this is what she is supposed to do. *That's not what he/she said, he/she said 'SAME'.* I've seen those same careless your/you're, they're/their errors more times than I care to count as well.

I understand the faster we go, the more money we make but at the end of the day, I'm willing to make a little less in exchange for turning out an accurate, quality report.

Those are my initials at the bottom of that patient record. I couldn't sleep at night or look myself in the mirror if I knew I was shipping through a lesser quality report just to make a few more cents.

And if it was your mother/father/sister/brother/child lying in that hospital bed or terminally ill attending a clinic, would you want an MT rushing through their report at breakneck speed, accuracy thrown to the wayside?

Errors like this don't make the work of US MTs any better than that of the Indian MTs, I'm sad to say.

Yep she is the one who signed up

Ummm - we care about our interests too.  That's why we DIDN'T sign up.  Sorry you were fooled.  Did you already run out of work or something?  The ads say they have tons of work?

I pay about $150 a month for single coverage, medical, dental, sm
vision, $750 deducible, $15 copay for PCP, $30 copay for PPO specialist.  Hope that helps.
Have you signed a contract with them yet? sm

I haven't even set up a time to train yet but I just faxed my contract in this morning and I am supposed to get my lanier sometime next week.  I guess I probably pestered her; I would rather say I was persistent : ).  I had another company with an offer standing and I didn't have time to wait around and let the other one slip by in case things didn't work out.  Luckily, they did and I am very happy with my choice.

Not much, but I'm all signed up to start there!
I think it's going to be great. :o>
