I am going to try this. I have arthritis in my knees so I don't know (sm)

how "powerful" my walking will be but my doctor has assured me that losing 20-40 pounds will do great things towards reducing my knee pain.

Dieting alone is not going to do anything other than make me a pile of flabby skin.

You have inspired me. Thank you.

Mine has torn both knees
My cat tore the cruciate ligament in her left knee last summer. She started limping and the vet highly recommended surgery. I did the surgery and her left knee seems fine. Last week, she tore her right knee. She is in a lot of pain with this one. I hope to have her in surgery by the end of the week. It is not common in cats, so I'm not sure why her knees have given out. I estimate she's about 10 and she stays inside, so I'm not sure why her knees are so bad. I can't have her in pain and hobbling around, so surgery is my only option.

Enbrel works great for me. I do the shots twice a week.
Rheumatoid Arthritis

Does anyone out there suffer or know someone who has RA?  My mom was diagnosed this year, she is not yet 50 and her doc says she has it worse than anyone she has ever seen this soon and young.  It is also progressing quickly.  Her prednisone is not working and the hydrochloroquine is not working either.  She is scared of the side effects of other meds out there, I don't blame her, they sound scary!!  I am scared that this is going to cripple her, I know she is scared too.  I would love any input you all can give me.  Anything they have tried that has helped, even unusual methods.

Thanks.

what does arthritis feel like? -- blew out my hand
Last night, while simply reaching for a cup of coffee, the entire back of my right hand developed excruciating pain.  Stiff real bad right now.  It feels like all of the bones from my knuckles to my wrist on the top of my hand are all cramped and grinding.  Loaded on pain pills right now, still pain.  No health insurance.  Could this be arthritis?  What's it feel like?  --- help
anyone have an aging dog on meds for arthritis pain??? sm

my bassett is 13 years old and has arthritis in her hips and probably other joints.  the vet put her on Carprofen and the first few days she did great!  then she started having diarrhea and acting like she's hurting again (shaking, panting, a little whining).  I told vet, she said to stop meds until she is over her "sour belly".  she tested her diarrhea and it was fine, no blood or parasites.  she went without her medicine for a day and a half and it showed, as she couldn't walk as well (which before she went on this medicine she couldn't use her back legs).  so i started giving her medicine again.  vet said the carprofen was going to be temporary.  i was reading some bad side effects for this medicine.  i think this medicine is making her have the diarrhea.  she's only been on the medicine for about a week and a half at the most.

just wondered if anyone else had pets with arthritis problems and what you used to help.  i'm not sure if i should try something alternative.  or maybe even Dr. Frank's spray.

thanks
