Try a little bit of baking soda on a washcloth
Just remember that the rubbing may cause a little redness, but i think it will help with the kool-aid.  Been there, done that...
Sprinkle with baking soda and then vacuum
Works wonders.
Rub some baking soda or corn starch into him well and brush out? nm

Just remembered another one...Doe shave!
I put doe shave in my autocorrect too to come out as does have because this is forever a typo in my world!

drinking soda
I think that drinking soda aggravates that. Cranberry juice and herbals teas calm this sort of thing down for me.
Help! His pits are the pits!

My  husband is one of those hairy guys.  Not grossly hairy but hairy and the hair under his arms can grow like 2-3 inches.  He hates that so we will take the clippers and trim it down.  At any rate about 8 years or so ago he started developing this rash under his arms.  At that time he used RightGuard Sports scent. I loved the smell of that stuff!  He thought it was the alcohol in that so he would start spraying it on his tee shirt instead of directly under his arm pit.  He has tried different kinds and roll-ons.  I switched him to Sure unscented, which I use and that seemed to help for a while, now he has it again and he will put a streak of deodorant on both sides of his arm pit.  It is driving him crazy, which is driving me crazy.

I know he needs to see a dermatologist but he works out of town and long hours so usually there is no time.  My mother and I think this might be a yeast infection of some kind, but you would think that would be in the genital region as well, but this is just under his arms and he has never had this problem anywhere else..  I used an antifungal stuff that you paint on which burned the fire out of him after a while. I contains an acid.  Oops.  Followed that with talc powder.  He will put Benadryl and preparation H on it to stop it from itching.  Hilarious, the other day he said, do you have any Vagisil?  Cracked me up.  I said I have never in my life had a yeast infection and hoped never to have one - and did not want him buying it for fear people would think I did.  Sure he's buying that for his arms!  I want to make him scoop yogurt under there!

Anyone had this problem or have any ideas. This is not like a rash with bumps.  It is not actually raw but looks raw.  I guess in a sense it is.  It is red and inflamed looking, dry and smooth, not scalely and about 1.5 inch in diameter.  He once thought this was from the seam on his undershirts, which he always wears, plus he is a crane operator so he keeps both hands busy shifting gears.

Any remedies would be welcome.  TIA.

pits
Maybe stop shaving pits. It seems the hair might help if it is a contact dermatitis, especially if he is a crane operator and moving arms back and forth all day. Or perhaps some kind of underarm pad just for working?
UPS is the PITS
I gave up on them long, long ago.  Next time call FEDEX.  They have never let me down and deliver stuff way early (like by 10:00 in the a.m.) while UPS gets here at dinnertime (I swear this is true).  Most of the time I get next day morning service even though I did not specify it or used 2nd day.  I love FEDEX!  Although, I would NEVER use their cheapest service (those are delivered by independent contractors and if they leave it at the wrong house (which they do a lot) it can be a week before they come back to pick it up and re-deliver it.  Other than that one fault, they are the BEST!
Pits
I have never been for pit bulls in this country...they are banned from ssome other countries. The problem is they were bred for aggressive behavior. I do understand your situation.....he was raised in a loving home, not aggressive, and it is hard watching a neighbor's dog have aggressive tendencies butyours being singled out for euthanization. BUT pits have very specific physical traits that put them in a different ballpark....they jaws are like steel traps. Once they bite on, you CANNOT get them loose and this is why they are reported on the news as killing children, etc., once they get going, they will kill and not let go.

My brother-in-law had one from a puppy on. She was beautiful and very friendly but there was always something I NEVER like about her. She would come up to me and put her paws on my chest, trying to be nice, but her muscular build alone would cause her to leave big bruises and lumps on my arms. They had children and that always made me nervous. I never let my children around that dog and my husband wouldn't either. I just didn't trust her. Well, after 9 or so years with them, raised from a pup, one day a neighbor's child was playing in their yard with their children, and for some reason she just started chasing the child, knocked her down, and had her by the back down on the ground. My brother-in-law, a very muscular guy, could barely get her off. She had not actually bitten into the child but her jaws were open and pushing down on her back and she meant business. Out of the blue, she became aggressive and that was all I needed to know. The vet had told them the tendency is there,as it is in other breeds, but with this breed, because of their jaws, they clamp down and you CANNOT get them open. The jaws literally lock into place like a steel trap. They are bred for this.

So, please be careful. I know you love her, I really do understand that, but this was 9 to 10 years into her life with them she went bazerk and it could have been fatal.
Aww! Are they pits? NM

Diet soda isn't the problem

I saw a report on that on TV several weeks ago.  Evidently, the thinking is that if you're drinking diet soda you'll feel free to eat more high-caloric foods ?!?!  The only thing I've heard that's concrete about diet soda is that it can cause loose bowel movements and the carbonation saps phosphorus, which could be detrimental to bones.

This is probably the lamest of all the scare tactics that the Food Police have come out with yet!  I believe there are factions out there who won't be satisfied until everybody is eating nothing but veggies and drinking nothing but water.

The next lamest one I've heard is that air conditioning causes people to be overweight.  Why?  Because when you're hot you burn more calories!

I stopped listening to "experts" a long time ago!

I have two pits and they both wore little - sm
doggy coats when they were pups in the winter time. They were so cute in them. I couldn't find coats for them when they got bigger or they would still be wearing them.

Although, it's really cold here in the winter and it makes a trip to the potty very short. They go out, do their business and want to come right back in.
I posted below about pits
adn said wish they would phase them out. But you know, with all hearing about them, don’t you think this woman was totally responsible for having them in the first place? I think it is really sad that folks continue to let them be around children, especially. The adults surely to goodness know better but continue on with wanting to own them and speaking up for them when they are real killers.
if pits get loose
It isn't in a pitbulls nature to be mean to humans. Now they can be aggressive towards other dogs, but that too often is mistaken as people aggression, but these are far two different things. If you get on a pitbulls property they are very protective & if they don't know you then you may get bit, but that's with any dog. If they get loose they aren't going to go around the neighborhood looking for somebody to attack, in fact if they are loose roaming around they are more scared of you then you are of them. Took us 3hrs to get a full-grown pitbull off the side of the road. Read his story here: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/600278
Ms Thinking you can keep your pits
This place is run by the police department and they want no charges coming back on them. I think they would know what they are doing- they see these pits all the time. I definitely do not have the time spent as they do in their rescuing so I trust their efforts. There is another place where you could post- people take up for their pits on CLs. I will take the smaller dogs and ones who do not have the bad reputation pits have. I can sterotype anyway I want- I love my life and would not risk it for anything with a dangerous breed and that, my dear, is what they are considered. Wake up.
I love pits too...sm
Like I said, I was really proud to be part of an organization that saw past the stereotypes and knew that pits are good dogs too. Actually, I think pits can be one of the most loyal and loving out of all the breeds if you give them a chance. I have never owned one myself (but will someday) as we still live in an apartment and there is no way they would let us have a pit bull (I disagree, but you can't argue that with some people). However, I have had the great pleasure of getting to know and love many pits in my life and I definitely have a special place for them in my heart!
Pour 1-2 cans of 7-Up soda over the turkey sm
after it has cooked for about 1-2 hours and baste as well. I usually use more soda and inject it into the turkey with a turkey injecter as well as basting it. Then, I use the drippings with the soda and make it into a gravy. It's sweet and gives the BEST flavor I have ever tasted. My mother-in-law told me years ago to do that and I have been doing it ever since.
I am not upset that you are afraid of pits...sm
I could understand that. Totally understandable based on media hype these dogs get. But to make the comment that they should be illegal is uncalled for. My dog is not vicious and you have no right to make a comment about a breed of dog chances are you know nothing about except what you hear. You might have well have said my child should be illegal. I love my dogs very much.
You say pits were bred to attack...sm
They were. But they were bred to attack dogs not humans. One thing the unscrupulous people who bred these dogs did right was breed them to not be human aggresssive. Because when they were in the ring with the dogs they couldn't be worried about the dogs attacking them. So they wanted a dog that wasn't aggressive towards humans. I have done research and read this to be true. That doesn't mean all pits are not human aggressive. There may be some that are but it wasn't bred into them.
If you rent, it may not be allowed. Rotties, pits,
dobermans, chows, and german shepards are often on landlords 'not allowed' lists, for liability reasons.

I'm a dog-person, and have known quite a few rotts, and none of them were friendly to anyone but their master.

I think one of the best choices for a 'first big dog' would be a labrador retriever. Laid-back, not as barky, usually love everyone, great family dogs, yet big enough to possibly deter a burglar.
You will only have people posting about how sweet their pits
are. They will tell you what other kind of dogs attack, kill besides their pits. Funny how the majority of time you read how good family dogs, sweet dogs, attack and kill their owners, or grandchildren here but people continue to have and own. Bad to say but I hope the grandmother here is charged in the child's death. I do rescues and some places around town do not let pits be adopted at all to the public, they put them down first.
Not if you are planning on baking
Wax paper will melt wax into your foods if you are baking. That being said, if you are making a cake you can butter the pan, both sides of the wax paper, and place the wax paper on the bottom of the pan wax side down, putting your batter on top.  You can also use wax paper to steam. If you are planning on baking using direct oven heat (where the paper will be exposed directly to the enviornment around it) I would not suggest it.
Baking Stones?
Somebody gave me a brand new baking stone from Pampered Chef. I know people love them but I have never been able to figure out what you do with them except for cooking a frozen pizza... maybe...?

Baking stones
I LOVE my baking stones and use them all the time. The best thing to cook on them at first is something really greasy, like using crescent roll dough and make something with them. They are a greasy dough, so they help season the stone. I have a recipe for veggie pizza that uses the roll mix. The more seasoned your stone is, the better your food turns out. I make pizza, cookies, french fries. ANything that can be baked on a cookie sheet (within reason) can be baked on a stone. It makes killer calzone and pasties. Experiment and have fun with your new stone.
Baking gifts

Do any of you give baked goods during the holidays?  What are some of your favorites?  I get tired of making the same ole bread, cookies, and chocolate covered pretzels every year.

I will say that last year I put peanut butter between 2 Ritz crackers and then covered them in baking chocolate (white and semi-sweet) and they turned out really well.  I put sprinkles on the white ones (they showed up better than on the semi-sweet ones).

caffeine/chocolate/Jolt soda/RedBull/coffee

Applebee's LOL. No cooking just baking.

Question. Which oven rack do you normally use when baking meats or what have you. Never sure if
bottom rack is best or middle rack which seems rather far away from the heat.
Baking bread from scratch is hard work, sm
especially for people like us who abuse their hands working. Kneading bread is exhausting!

I have a bread machine and love it. It allows for both bread mixes and scratch ingredients. The bread tastes delicious, too.

Sounds great..Question about baking time/temp..sm

How long do you bake the muffins and at what oven temp?  These sound wonderful & so much easier than making pumpkin bread.   Thanks!

You can search for baking mix gifts in Mason jars, too, or some version of those words. nm

Someone posted a recipe for baking chicken in bbq sauce and Italian dressing... SM
Does anyone have that recipe?  I am making chicken tonight and need something that I can throw together and stick in the oven while I'm working.  I haven't cooked in a couple of days and the natives are getting restless for a home cooked meal!
they ARE completely different
i can't believe you have a friend that had the nerve to compare her abortion to your miscarriage!!! im so sorry for your loss
I completely believe that. sm
I've never been separated from a marriage, but in 2 long-term (several year) relationships that finally succumbed to breaking up, we got along WAY better once we were 'only' friends. The change was immediate! Best of luck to you both. Sounds like you tried your hardest.

Understand you completely - sm
My situation is exactly the same. He can ignore me for weeks. I mean completely ignore me to the point that I may as well not even be here unless he has run out of clean underwear and socks.

Then when he gets a wild hair, I'm supposed to jump with glee? No thanks, I would rather spend my time planning for the day I leave his sorry self now.
Agree completely......nm
xx
I completely agree! (sm)
As strange as this woman may have been, including the people she chose to surround herself with, there has never been a question about how she felt about her beloved son. Let's hope this woman can finally have some peace in the next few days and spend eternity next to the one person that wasn't involved with her for his own personal gain!
I may be completely wrong,
but when I caught a little bit of the story on the news, it sounded like the "amount of money she had been offered equaled out to 20,000 a day for each day they were married. I would not call her a gold digger when they first married, I mean, I most certainly could fall in love with Sir Paul, but now it sounds like she wants everything. As for Dancing with the Stars, she has shown up but I don't see the public embracing her and voting for her to stay.
Completely agree...
I have the same standards.  Sleeping together is a gift that comes with marriage in my opinion.  It is your house and your rules.  Good for you for sticking to it!
I completely agree...sm
I live in one of the states that is in the middle of terrible turmoil due to illegal immigrants and what gets me is the minute citizens try to get laws that are already on the books enforced we are considered racists. The illegal immigrants form marches and get on TV and tell the world how terrible and racist the politicians are who are just trying to have laws that are already written enforced. It is just crazy. I mean they are here illegally, it has nothing to do with their race, it has to do with the fact that they are breaking the law and need to be treated like any other law breaker in this country. Geez. You have to be a citizen to vote, but all our signs outside the voting places have to be bilingual, does that make sense to you? Most jobs in my area are now only hiring bilingual people, so unless you learn Spanish, it is very hard to find a job, which I find even more irritating. I mean, what would happen to an American citizen if they tried to jump the border to any other country in the world, do you think we would be given any sort of rights other than being thrown in jail, deported, or just plain disappearing off the face of the earth? I don't think so.
Unfortunately, when we divorced I was completely sm
out of my mind. It is legal because it states that he has the right to make any decision and can change his mind at any time since he has physical custody. He has been very kind in the past to allow my son to spend the entire summer with us. This will be the first summer in 7 years that we have not seen him. Plus, we send for him throughout the year during holidays and spring breaks. He can do this and can make this decision.

I could get a lawyer and amend the agreement we have, but then it will get so ugly (again) and complicated and I don't ever want to go through that ever again. He still has emotional wounds from our divorce (I've since moved on and remarried), so if he wanted to be ugly he can. What's to say my husband and I hire a lawyer in his state, go to court, and then I end up losing even the right to see my son? That can happen, especially since he has not lived with us ever. Thanks for your suggestion, though.
I agree completely! Very well said (nm)
a
I understand completely...
and am in no way arguing your point, it's a valid one! I just don't understand the LACK of self-control these days.  Maybe it's the lack of responsibility one must take for those actions..I don't know, guess we could debate this all day, but please, I meant no disrespect to your previous post.  I enjoy reading your advice...very refreshing and inspiring
Understand completely - sm
I too have been burned a few times for trying to help someone but not Stacy.

She's a smart kid, a good mom, and proudly independent. I think she will see it for what it is. The temptation is very strong to try to bring a "family" together for the sake of a child but I am really hoping that she won't give in to that temptation.

Her ex boyfriend and his mother are wastes of perfectly good flesh and oxygen. some people....
Not the OP but I understand completely - sm
And, just for the record. I don't have a cleaning lady but I would love one too. My husband is a complete SLOB.

I vacuum every night, do the dishes, clean the counters, etc. By the time I get up, there are wood chips, snow, mud, whatever, trailed through the house from his boots, there is protein powder all over the kitchen counters and on the kitchen floor, and more dishes in the sink than even my kids can go through in one evening.

Not to mention the pile of dirty laundry he pulls from under his side of the bed immediately after I have finished doing ALL of the laundry. Happens every single time!

I'm not even going to get into the stuff I find in the bathroom sink and on the bathroom floor!

Like I said, I would love to have a cleaning lady too but I would be too embarassed to let someone see what I have to live with.
