None today but everyday is like
Valentines to me, no difference, love, smooches, sweet talk, hugs, kisses and just everything I need in my man.
Happy Earth Day..we should do this EVERYDAY!

We should be caring about planet (mother) earth EVERYDAY and not just on April 22nd.........

If we do not, someday there will no longer be a planet Earth......

Well this isn't your everyday sore throat (sm)
It feels like severe strep, only it's neg for strep and it has been going on about 4 days now and shows no signs of getting any better. Nothing I am doing to try to treat it seems to help. I am now on zithromax, magic mouthways, chloraseptic, saltwater gargles, honey, cough drops, vitamin C and naprosyn, and still waking up through the night with my throat hurting :(
Minor regrets
The only real regret I have is in believing him when he said he was going to "be a father" and stay home every time I tried to regain custody. The younger boy suffered for this because he was left home more often after the older was grown. No, he didn't try to take the kids right away. I think he waited until he saw I was completely overwhelmed with single parenting and then pounced, two years later. I have ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS about leaving him!!! I never would have my 22 year healthy marriage and two kids with my present husband, who is a honey in every way, had I not left.
Wow...you know what? this is one of our more minor issues (sm)
More and more I am realizing I have to get out. I have been talking to an older friend recently who is telling me that I have never really even had a marriage. He has done the e-mail thing for a long time. He sends me a note that says, "Put this on your calendar". No questions asked. And oftentimes, I learn about his future plans through other people, who know before I do!
I think Shep's a doll ;) watch him everyday

Question about NOT washing your hair everyday...

I've heard this many times...That you're better off not to wash your hair everyday--Dr. Oz was on Oprah yesterday and said the same thing. He meantioned something about you are stripping your hair of good oil etc et.

I know some people can to a day or two without washing their hair--I HAVE to shower and wash my hair in the MORNING everyday---

But in regards to "shampooing" everyday--Would you be doing your hair good by not using shampoo everyday? For example I used shampoo and conditioner yesterday and this morning when I took a shower I got my hair wet but didnt use shampoo--just some conditioner.

What do you think?

If a child is a minor, it is the parent's
responsibility to get them to school and make sure they stay there. One mother here in my town had to go and sit with her daughter at school everyday for a while just to be sure she was there.
Name one thing that brings a smile to your face everyday

Or more if you can't decide.

Mine is petting my cat and giving her kisses on her belly and watching her roll around purring really loudly. (okay, so I don't have any kids to give kisses to so this is the next best thing).

You're the parent, she's a minor child
This is sadly too common. Your daughter is pushing your bottons in a big way.

I remember being that age and partying it up. One day it just became very boring and that was the end of it. Sadly, many people I knew didn't have it quite that easy.

My first real love and a friend of his were killed from DWI at 19. Not only did they hit a car with a family of 6 (who managed to live), the rest of us had 2 funerals to go to. The priest for my boyfriend's funeral was actually his uncle!

The pattern she displays is not good. Many "good girls" hit this age and venture into situations which they're ill-equipped to handle.

My guess is that she's doing plenty more than she says. It's not that she doesn't love you.

I have no idea how expensive it is to get a drug test done on her hair, but that may be one avenue. Of course, it'd be easy to get hair from a brush, etc. I have no idea how you could get a UDS unless you simply asked her point-blank for one (since she claims she has nothing to hide). I'm just not buying it, I'm sorry to say.

About 2-3 years ago a friend of mine from high school was found dead in her apt. from alcoholism. This was one of the girls who had parties at her house in high school. She didn't even live to see 50 and died alone, sick, and miserable. When I found out from another friend I was surprised at first, but started retracing backwards and it was clear as a bell. Her father was an alcoholic. We didn't realize the significance of alcoholism in previous generations like we do now.

I also agree with another post I read about that this is "your" home, so she needs to abide by your rules. Of course, Dr. Phil says that all the time, too.
I can't have kids, but I remember being one. Speaking of Dr. Phil, maybe you could check his boards, too.

It's so frustrating to get to this point, but just know that many here will support you and offer as much advice as possible, even if it may be from an MT without kids.

Please keep us posted, and best of luck to you.
This is a minor source of contention in my family - sm
My husband and 17 year old daughter love going out to eat, whenever and wherever. I find that most restaurant food is way too gussied up for my tastes and I prefer my own cooking to anyone else's. Not to say that they DON'T like it. I'm a good cook and so is my daugher. To me, I can think of so many better ways to spend the money of a dinner out, one evening of which equals usally about half of our food budget for the week. It's hard to justify that kind of expense just to get out of doing the dishs.

So, in answer to your question, about once every couple of weeks to fast food, once a month or so to Friendly's and only on special occasions to a real nice restaurant.
It may be a minor inconvenience but definitely get your phone number changed.

I went through a similar situation, but the guy I met and went out WITH FRIENDS with only ONCE went nuts on me and did the same thing, calling all hours of the day and night, showing up unannounced, at church when I picked up my daughter from Sunday school, he was sitting in a chair next to her and had no business even being there and didn't even go to my church. I asked the Sunday school teacher about it and she said he said he was my daughters stepfather!  I said, no, he is not and he's nuts.  I quit going to that church and I really liked that church, but I had to protect myself and my daughter.  Finally, when I was at work he broke into my house, broke every pane of glass in all of my family photos hanging on the wall and stole some of my panties from my dresser and there was a note in my underwear drawer and it had the B word written on it.  I was scared to death and I called the police and they arrested him.  I was so upset that I moved to another city that was still within driving distance of my job, I changed my phone number, and my brother even got me a different car so he wouldn't know I still worked at the same place because he would drive by and see my car.  When I got to work every morning, I parked out of sight and came in through the back instead of the front the way I used to.  Oh, I also changed my last name to my grandmothers last name.

For the last several years I have lived in another state and am happily married to a very nice man, but I'll never forget that horrible experience in my life.

Adult photos are legal. FBI stepped in because the sicko had pics of a minor.

best city
Believe it or not, Cleveland, Ohio. I've lived all over the Midwest and East Coast and loved Chicago and Minneapolis, but the people in Cleveland were definitely the friendliest. Easy to make friends and cost of living was pretty decent. Also lots of fun night life and great museums.
Sex and the City is definitely up there at the top. nm

what city are you in? nm
nm
Know the city well, you can get 1 of the
weekly hotels and live from there. I would not like this situation at all- if he has worked there for awhile, just making until May should not make that much difference. Had home right in Atlanta and sold year before last, moved further towards Rex.
So he's never even been TO the city before? sm
Just from what you've posted, it sounds like he is sorely underprepared to take this job. No sales experience and never been to NYC, but taking a job doing cold-call sales in the toughest city? YIKES.
NYC is great city, full of life and energy, but man you have to be prepared.

LOTS of info can be found online, of course; just start Googling. Everything from maps of the subway system, to where to park, etc. Travel guides at the bookstore can help.
Seriously, what kind of a company gives the new guy the Manhattan territory? And then gives no informational support? The whole story gives me a bad feeling. Hopefully I'm just missing details.
sex and the City
I know some of us are working tonight, like me, but have any of you seen the movie sex and the City tonight and how was it?  I hope to see it this weekend between shifts.

New York City

Does anyone know if New York City is extremely crowded on Black Friday? I'm going on a bus trip that day to do some shopping. Just curious if it was as crowded that day as it was the week before Christmas.

I pay $85 in a big city, but she does spend 45 sm

minutes or so washing, cutting and styling may between chin and shoulder length hair.  Five minutes is ridiculous.  I don't see how they can even do a good job in that amount of time.

Yes, I know $85 is high (plus tip).  I have just had so many hack jobs at less money that I got scared and went to a trendier place in the city.

Is that the one where the girl goes to the inner city...
to live with her dad after her mom dies and she gets involved with the black student and she auditions for Julliard?
OMG - I love sex and the city
Just heard online today it is confirmed, they are making a movie. Can't wait
But is that not rural and not city
taxes? I had some property in the country, 200 something compared to my city home of over 2,000.
Not in city limits
We're about 2 miles out of town. Of course the town is 8500 people. A well known town, but small, nonetheless. :-)
City in illinois
Its Oswego. Lived around here forever
City in Illinois
I was going to put this on the state board for Illinois, but I noticed that no one's posted there in months.  The doctor is stating the patient worked at GE in s/l Owings, Illinois.  I googled cities in Illinois for the correct spelling and I can't find anything even close.  Any ideas?
I hate it too, even in my own city (sm)

I find that as I get older, it's not even a question of not seeing as well.  It's almost more like disorientation,if it's an area I'm kind of familiar with, but not really.  Like I will be not quite sure how much farther I have to go to the light and then when I get to the light, I'm not sure what cross street I'm at.  Sound funky.  Kind of hard to explain.

everything that is now gone, Sopranos, Sex and the City...
Love The Riches on FX. NetworkTV is too dumbed down, bad sitcoms (except 30 Rock and The Office, sometimes ok), bad dramas and overrated reality shows. And the soaps, fugetaboutit, UGH!
150 inhabitants? Is this really a city?...s/m
Are you the same person who posted this nasty reply to 'abc' on 11/16/08?

Now I can undertand that living in a VILLAGE (or BOX) with 150 people gives you a backward insight on a lot of issues.

It's just a nickname the city was given back in the 40's by
writer & journalist Herb Caen. To reflect the multiculturalism and exotic character of San Francisco he coined the term Baghdad by the Bay, and often referred to San Francisco that way.
Albuquerque is a beautiful city

It is at the foothills of the mountains, so you have mountains and desert both. The cost of living is relatively low. And Santa Fe and Taos are very close, so there are all kinds of opportunities to learn about arts and culture. There are the mountains for hiking and camping. And Gallup and Zuni Pueblo are not too far away. Lots of Native American culture, including the yearly ceremonials in Gallup.

Sorry, I don't know about the schools, except that the University of New Mexico is there. That's where my husband and I are planning to retire. We love the area and have visited there many times.

On the Oklahoma City page...
Garage Sale is listed in the For Sale column, on the right hand side just after Games and Toys (see link). What city are you trying to list under?
That would be me (poster) and as a NY City person....

and I HATE that press 1 for English and have told many corporations that - it should say *if you'd like to speak Spanish press 1; Creole press 2, Russian press 3, Hebrew press 4, Portugese press 5 and on and on and on so that we cover everybody....but for us, 3rd, 4th generation Americans, we should NOT have to press 1 for English - GALLS ME!

I think in California, they do choose to isolate more themselves via their cultures.....I do not see this here in S. Florida any longer - it's much better today, I think, and JMO.....(no flames please *lol*)

Oh, and if it's NOT a melting pot, it sure should be - and we should strive to live side-by-side, accepting of others choices (religion or any other personal choice as long as it doesn't hurt anybody), and all try to get along in a nation full of different cultures, religions, colors, languages.....just my opinion again....

Does your city have a fine if you get caught?

Does your city have a fine if you get caught? I don't know about mine. I don't think there's one, but I could be wrong.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The New York state Legislature has given final passage to a bill that would charge $250 for pet owners who don't pick up after their dogs in some parts of the state.

Dog owners currently have to pay $100 if they don't pick up the poop. The change would apply to the five boroughs of New York City, Albany and Yonkers.

The Assembly passed the bill Wednesday and the Senate had already passed it.

A spokesman for Gov. David Paterson said the governor will review the measure.

I'm in a large city and what you said is not true here.
nm
We have a city ordinance about pit bulls
You have to provide proof of $100,000 insurance to have it; it cannot roam free; and anyone has the right to kill it if they feel they are under attack. If your pit is found running free, it is put down.

Pits do not have to be used for fighting to be aggressive. It is part of their nature - far more aggressive than other dogs.

Yes, I've had plenty of up close and personal experiences with pits that were friendly but that has nothing to do with their underlying aggressive nature.

Dangerous animal.
Fourth largest city in US
with strong sense of pride and community, economically sound, cutting edge medical facilities, greatest mayor ever, friendly folks, culture of all sorts and decidedly international in nature.
I am 50 years old, lived in 1 city until
I was 24, lived in another for 7 years, and now in current place for 19 years and have NEVER been called.
I thought of an iPod, but he already has one and because he lives in the city, the air gun

It's such a quandry trying to buy for a teen!  I really don't want to just get him a gift card.  "Auntie" really wanted to do something memorable.  He's getting older and he's just not that little bitty guy anymore!

Well, I live in a big city and it goes on here all the time. Sickening.
a
Planning a trip to New York City and
was looking for suggestions on a nice hotel to stay in and what are some of the best sites to see. Will only be there for four days at the end of May and want to cram as much in as possible.
If you lived in the huge city where I live what you said
might make a difference in whether you lived or not. On a daily basis, people are shot and killed here for less than asking what a teenager was saying and I am not talking about 1 death, talking 3-4 a day. We just had a child killed here when a young kid (male) got upset with the a neighborhood family, went home got a gun, sprayed the home and killed a 2 year old child in his mothers arms. If you wanted to approach the parents, a lot of people only take up for their children and think you are in the wrong for approaching them! I have grown children and of course taught them right from wrong but I am not into trying to kill myself by responding to a small aleck kid. You can ignore and then again if you would like to come here and do that, give them your life. Your choice. You cannot change every smartie kid you might run into- and then you might not have to change anyone for long… I say just ignore. I have got more sense than to get myself killed over nothing.
