You must live in a metro area because rural areas pay even less per hour.

Of course you can buy a big house for 130,000 in a smaller town and the same amount won't buy you a pot to pee in, in a place like San Diego or the D.C. area.  It's all relative.

For ladies who live in the Phoenix Arizona area
Please visit this link. Several positions payint $19/hr

Unfortunately in my area they made it so the utility companies can shut you off no matter how cold

I used to live in MN now I live in MS and they were both cold last night!
Will take MS cold over MN cold any day, and I don't miss the snow. I miss the Mall of America, though!
My hands get cold, and typing with cold muscles is like (sm)
running or other exercise when not warmed up. I wear thin, warm gloves with the fingertips cut out to keep my hands & knuckles warm. For muscle pains in the shoulders, neck, biceps, etc, try Flexall cream - I find it to be VERY effective. Also try slight changes in chair height, keyboard height and angle, and monitor height. I found if I enlarge the print on my screen, it keeps me from hunching forward to try to read it. (CTL + scroll up or down on mouse wheel to make print bigger or smaller. It will not affect the size of the finished product.) Frequent "mini-breaks" to do other chores: filing etc. if in an office, quick household task if working at home, also helps relieve repetitive stress. A few months ago I thought my typing days were numbered due to various pains & arthritis; now I can work pain-free for up to 11 hours in a day. Good luck! :)

Yep, so were we - the Metro North!

Metro Atlanta
Most of these are local docs that are not my accounts. The offices are paying 12-13 cpl for gross lines. I also transcribe for a small company in another state (the 8 cpl account). I do feel lucky to have found these accounts. In addition, some of my work comes from a midsized national and is paid at 7.5 cpl for 65-character lines. I continue this work because it is the easiest work I have, so I probably average about the same as the others (although as mentioned previously, the others are clinic work and easy too)
Metro Transcription--Atlanta--Feedback?

Does anybody have any feedback, positive or negative, about a company called Metro out of Atlanta?

Thanks!

Two of them are metro one Midwest and one East Coast so....
that means many, many physicians, probably hard to get used to them, probably teaching hospital, so many residents? Many ESL's??? Probably huh? Hmmmm. Scary!
PA - Pittsburgh area is one locale, Philadelphia area also.
TriState area - PA, NJ, DE.
I saw HOWIE last night on a late night episode of Blind Date. too funny.
I'm thinking if they are smart they'll boot Rachel.  I think she's really smart and a good player.  I don't think Howie is all that smart or able to be a winner.  I think this could force Howie to hook up with James to go for the final 2.
Would that be the one in Phoenix? nm

Phoenix
They don't pay for spaces. I've tried explaining to my thumbs why the work they do has no value in certain environments, but they refuse to understand & in general continue to prevent me from applying to a company that I've otherwise heard pretty good things about. If your thumbs are happy working for nothing, I'd say go for it.

Phoenix
I would recommend ANY company to work for - except Phoenix. Their website is bogus - nobody makes $25 an hour. They'll toss you a book to hook up your computer - and when you're having questions - you'll get an attitude when you ask for help. Horrible, horrible!
Phoenix

I have been with Phoenix MedCom for 1 year now and they are a great company. I work on an internet account that does not pay for spaces.  We have a new platform with another account and this does pay for spaces.  I tried both platforms and it works out to exact amount of pay, 10 cents without spaces and 8 cents with spaces.  DG

Phoenix MedCom
I have been with this company as an IC since they started over 5 years ago and before that I worked with these same owners at another company which was bought out by Medquist for over 6 years. Phoenix Medcom is a great place if you are loking for an IC position.

University of Phoenix
I did some checking several years ago and I found from my research that University of Phoenix was the one with the most prestige as far as on-line degrees.  You have to be careful, because some of the places offering these are not worth the paper they are printed on, to an employer.  But, I found that UOP actually is the *best* of the on-line universities.  I didn't enroll, but I seriously considered it.  It is extremely expensive and I've heard from someone I know who was a student with UOP, that it is challenging (she worked a full-time job in addition to her classes), but she really loved it.  Unfortunately, I've lost touch with her now and I have no idea if she ever finished and got her degree.
Re: University of Phoenix
To the woman whose husband is a student there: Racism is corrosive. It will ruin your heart and your soul. Please look into your heart and see what is behind all of this hatred. Hate is never the answer.
Phoenix Medcom

I haven't ever heard of this company before but they had a posting in the job bank.  I'm wondering if they are worth my time applying for.  I have a job, just looking for extra to do.  Anyone's experience would be appreciated.  Thx!

University of Phoenix!!! LOL
Duh- yeah!
Phoenix MedCom
The co is Phoenix MedCom
PHOENIX MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION

PHOENIX medical transcription.  Any information good/bad???

Thanks

I'm referring to Phoenix Medcom
They sent me a lot of info when I inquired & were very specific: they pay per 65-character line, with headers & footers, no spaces.
Joaquin Phoenix...hands down - nm

Had that happen with Phoenix Medcom ...they
acted dumb so I left and am making more with far less hassel and stress over easy work being taken (and ASSIGNED) to their favs....
Overwhelmingly, Amphion, Phoenix Medcom & MDI-MD (*not MDI-FL)
Good luck!

No way. Univ. of Phoenix is considered a joke by employers!
http://uopsucks.com/negletters.html

The best way to obtain an on-line degree is to attend an accredited university that was already well-known for its academic program way before the internet was invented.

Check out University of Massachusetts, Temple University in Philadelphia, University of Minnesota.

The fly-by-nights like U. of Phoenix are the equivalent to the crap that used to advertise "degrees" on the back of matchbook covers and have no credibility in educational and career circles.

Seriously, stick with an accredited, well-known school, not some bogus piece of crap like that.

You get what you pay for.

cold feet
I bought a cheap electric heater and run it pointing towards my feet.
Cold fingers
Even though I keep my house comfortable, I find my fingers getting cold when I type.  Is it just me. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Cold in Colorado! ...
Burr is right!  I'm in northern/central Colorado, I think it is about 5 degree now with light snow ... but the wind is dying down.  Horrible hurricane type winds the last few days.  Thanks for mentioning us Coloradans!!  :)
Cold in the midwest too
I heard on the TV that Cedar Rapids (eastern IA) had temp of -17 with a wind chill of -30 this morning! BRR!
Old people who are cold?

cold fingers
All the time when I start out before the work area is sufficiently warmed up with the SPACE HEATER. Space heater essential to get fingers going.
How about a cold remedy?
I get great relief from colds with Zicam. (I also take 50 mg of oral zinc, which boosts the immune system). I use the Zicam when the cold is in my nose, with runny nose, sneezing, congestion. To open your sinuses you might want to try Rhinocort. You'll need a Rx for it, but it is good stuff. It's safer than Afrin (which works great but can't be used for more than three days, and can raise your BP). Oh, and chicken soup may help.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
Mine gets cold too

Not sure why just the right hand.  I have mild Raynauds though it is worse in my toes - I have to wear wool socks or slippers while I work.

Do you have cold intolerance in your hands or feet any other time?

Yes, I do have cold intolerance
I've been tested for thyroid, but it comes back okay.  Hands always cold, but when typing the right one becomes much colder than the left, feels somewhat numbish, and painful in the wrist.  I'm going to try making a wrist warmer with rice in it to heat in the microwave to see if that helps.
Cold in California

Chance of snow tonight near Fresno.  I know this is not your kind of cold, but for us it's unusual.

aw man, it's too cold, but I'm wishing!

Cold hands
Does anyone else have freezing hands as they type?  It's worse of course in the colder weather.  Are there any gloves or similar products out there that we can wear while we type?  Any ideas are appreciated!  I freeze all the time, in warm weather or cold, but my  hands are what I need to be warm to keep transcribing.  I need a space heater that doesn't cause my electric bill to go sky high, but haven't found one of those either.
