I didn't post that but if I had to make a guess...

I would guess the poster meant that newbies always feel they have a high accuracy.

Don't be offended....if that is what was meant.

Ask your QA or supervisor where you stand.  At least you care !!!

No offense, but your post didn't make any sense whatsoever.
Maybe you didn't explain it right, but I read and re-read and don't understand a thing you just said.
Ah, you didn't say that. I guess I'm the one who SM

needed clarification!

I don't really know what a TL does at your company, but where I used to work, a TL just wrote a bunch of useless e-mails and was actually the liaison betewen the company and the MTs - not for the benefit of the MTs but so the company wouldn't have to mess with all the "little people." That was not my favorite job, I'm sure you can tell.

I'd probably have to go over her head if she were making me feel uncomfortable for asking questions - give her one chance: "Would you please tell me which issues I should bring to you and which should go to QA?" and then if she shoots you down again, write the bigwigs and tell them they're wasting the big bucks on a useless person who won't do her job.

I guess you didn't win, either? ; )

to each his/her own-guess U also didn't like..?

If you mean CNN, yes, I guess so, but I didn't hear that anywhere else

If I had to make a guess...

I would guess that they changed their mind and it did not have anything to do with you or your work.  I agree with poster below who said they maybe over hired...or there could be any of a number of other reasons.

Don't assume it is your work but, rather, it is their loss.

Move on.

I GUESS YOU DON'T MAKE 98% THEN, HUH?
nm
Well I guess she would make that much if she
I wouldn't want to cheat the government.  So, in essence, your housekeeper is a cheat!     And, I guess you would be helping her since you pay her cash knowing she does not pay taxes??????????
If you make a lot of errors, I guess
My QA score is good but I suppose if it weren't I'd expect a less pay, not sure depends on lots of factors here.
I guess I could make close to 30K too, if I
Production pay has ruined the quality of MT work. Paid by the hour, I researched, spell-checked, turned in beautiful, correct, easy-to-read medical documents. Nowadays, we're all chasing our tails trying to make a living off our nano-salaries, and in going faster and faster, worrying more about production, minimum lines per day, etc., my work sure aint what it used to be. And even if it looks good at your end, you should see what the reports look like uploaded onto most EMRs. Appalling, nearly impossible-to-read CRAP. No wonder they think we're worthless robots. That what our work comes out looking like on the EMR.
Thanks - I guess I have a phone call to make --

I guess it is time to make a stand...
I just received my first subscription via E-mail to Advance Health Magazine.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY ACTUALLY HAD TWO ADVERTISEMENTS IN IT FOR HIRING INDIA MTs?

These are about 1/4 of a page size. One is from CBAY, which is Spheris, which is their 100% India company. Bragging a 30% decrease in costs to hospitals.

This not only threatens American MTs with losing jobs outright, but it also UNDERCUTS us. This is why we are making less money, less benefits, and needing to work harder.

I sent an E and cancelled immediately. Actually, I had been considering it for a while because of a bit percentage of their Medical Transcription articles are pro- undercutting American MTs, anyway, just like AAMT.

In my opinion, WE ARE BEING SOLD-OUT, AND BEING SOLD-OUT BY AAMT as they push harder and harder to make money any way they can, even by supporting Indian MTs, who are probably being told they "have" to join their organization...

They have been trying to force American MTs to become certified to fill their pockets and position themselves for the future as a monopoly. However, it seems American MTs are not as easily led as in India, so they flip-flopped. If you can't beat them, join them, right?

I am so disgusted. Last month they had an article from someone encouraging companies to hire American MTs and I was so hopeful, but this made me sick, to get it in my E-mail.

Time for me to make a stand. My job is worth fighting for and I need it...
Will post a pic when they are old enough to guess.
xx
Well, I guess thanks for your post, but as

I said, I have fears, and they are valid ones, thus my asking for honest opinions. Sort of rather passive/agressive answer you gave. Obviously I recognize how unhappy I am, and am trying to come to a decision, but my main fear is that I am fully cognizant that a move to MTing could potentially make me even more unhappy. So, my post!

I guess so! I betcha make your new line count!! NM
.
Well, I guess your post you made
way down towards the bottom of this page was not quite true, under the "straw that broke the camel's back".....thought you were doing really well with your MT work and your big bonuses?  At any rate, I do hope you find something that makes you happy; burnout absolutely does happen; been there done that too!!
I guess I should have been a little more specific in my post. sm
the only rental property that doesn't house family members is the one not paying. My husband and I have bought property for family who couldn't otherwise get a house on their own. We have huge hearts, we really do. We give our percentage to the local church, every paycheck, and if we do make a cash or lump sum of money in investments we either invest it some more or give, give, give to unfortunate family members. We are very happy to do that. LIke I said, we are able to give to our familly and friends in need and we love doing it. We feel we have been blessed to do it.
If you read my above post, we always have a cushion for emergencies and daily living, but we had to write a big, unexpected check this time. Hence, me asking for advice on cheap food, etc.
As far as my SUV, it is a used, 2002, bought on ebay (we have 4 kids and an economical car just won't fit all of us), so that is why I drive an SUV.

Sorry for those of you I offended. We do have a lot, more than others, but we also give way more than anyone we know, too. We know we could sell a house to make money, but that takes time. The reason we have these homes is: 1. To house unfortunate family members. 2. To sell when each kid goes to college for their college fund.

I didn't want to make anyone sad! Like I said, sm
It is not everyday that I can do this. I have bad days too! I am fortunate right now, but I also remember, good things don't always last forever. I will take advantage of it while I have it.
They recently got rid of all their Canadian MTs, guess to make room for more Indians. nm
xxxx
No I don't know these things, I am sorry, I guess I jumped the gun on an MT post. Sorry , really
n
I guess I'm not allowed to post the link.
sigh.
She didn't MAKE anything SOUND like anything.

Your perception is warped.  YOU chose to interpret it in a different way than she intended.  That's your comprehension level, not her playing cards.  My goodness!  It must be lonely up there on your pedestal telling everyone how perfect you are.  Oh, you never made a mistake.  You made all the "right" decisions.  Blah, blah, blah.  You must be really unhappy and bitter if that's all you can do is tell everyone how great you and your life are.  What's the matter?  Husband cheating on you?  Erectile dysfunction?  Evidently, something is terribly wrong in your life, or you wouldn't be here preaching and condemning other people.  You would be out living your perfect life with your perfect husband and lack of kids.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of your crap showing up on these boards all the time.  I don't care if I get banned for telling it like it is.  It's worth it to not have to listen to you.  If we parents and single mothers bother you so much, why don't you find the dried up, bitter, old crone boards to hang out on?

and, i didn't make THAT much money nm
nm
Sorry, that didn't make sense! I mean
I put yo in the abreviated and replace with year-old. So then when I type 15-yo, it replaces yo with year-old and is perfect!
What didn't make sense to me is the first
woman was shaking in fear, yet this bomb is supposed to be so delicate that anything will set it off. You see her arm shaking. Then she pulls her hand out, and what? the other woman happened to put her hand in there and is now clasping the bomb! and shaking.

I didn't last til the end. It just disgusted me too much. Kudos to you for hanging in there. It's good when you've got a show you really like and look forward to every week, so if that's yours, more power to ya! :)
If he didn't tell her to make the macros
?????  I think this is just someone trying to "get back at a doctor".  I don't see the harm in giving them to him with a line rate charge.  But maybe I just live by karma and not using "revenge" tactics.  I believe if you are giving, then you will receive.  I am not saying offer them for free. I think I would charge a line rate just for going through the trouble of printing them.  I do believe that when a doctor dictates normals, they do belong to him and not the transcriptionist.  The Transcriptionist transcribes them.  He/she is not the "author".  It happens every day when work is outsourced.  The samples are handed right over to the outsourcing company with no charge.  The hospital/physician does not charge the outsource company for handing over the samples.  What if everytime we needed a sample to guide us, we were charged for that?  It is the same argument here.  The company I work for gladly hands over samples/templates to make my job easier, and they do not charge me for that.  JMO.  Maybe I'm just a realist.  I say be a better person and give the man the macros with a line charge assessed if that makes it more fair.  Is anyone seeing my point here?  There is something underlying in the "don't give them your macros", and I just think it is more like a way to get revenge because of the hurt feelings in the way that he may not need the typist once these are given.  I'm sure he's not looking for "the patient, follow-up, etc.".  He probably wants "normal" paragraphs that he has dictated as part of a report.  The typist is not the author of that, the doctor is.  JMO.
I don't know why I laughed so hard at this post! Guess I needed it.

Didn't make much money. Worth it to go on?

I'm thinking of getting back into MT again after doing something else for 5 years.  I'm just afraid it's going to turn out like last time and seem like the money wasn't worth it.  I worked for a national for 30 hours a week and my take home pay averaged $800 for a month.  This was based on getting only 6 cpl back then.

Is anybody else coming in this low?  Did I pick the wrong company?  I could only average 125 lph.   I don't want to make the same mistake.  It just seems like luck of the draw as to what company to try to go with, especially with the IC vs. employee status.  I was an employee before.

I'd like some honest feedback of what is considered "low" income.  I know it varies a lot based on many factors!!!

Didn't make me cry but wasn't a breeze.
I studied when I could. After 30 years I think you'll pass.  Please let us know how you do and good luck!
Didn't the post say PT, 15,000? THAT's PT???nm

nm

I didn't think she was being mean about my post.....was she?
I didn't take it that way.
Didn't know the other post was from you
and I do have a hard time believing $98K in just 30 hours a week, but anything is possible I suppose.
oh. I obviously didn't see the post below before.
I thought it was just like your existential scream for the day or something, heh.

I didn't make the statement that PCs can be bought in bulk
cheap to justify stealing.  I don't believe in stealing.  My mother actually trained me right.  I was just responding to the fact that the original poster thought PCs were so expensive, and she made it sound as if every MT was nothing more than a thief.  Sorry, but if I can buy a new PC with a printer for $349, imagine what a huge corporation can get 1,000 of those computers for.  They get price breaks.  And no, it does not justify stealing.  I think anyone who steals is pathetic.  Nobody has the right to take anyone else's belongings.  By the same token, I don't believe there are that many MTs stealing brand new computers and getting away with it.  I certainly never stole anything from an employer.
So glad I didn't bust my a^^ to make the 10,000 lines!!!!!!!!!

their employees ANYTHING?

MQ acts like we are the ENEMY instead of the people that generate the

junk for their ungawdly profits.

Yes, but didn't your line count double to make up for it? SM
I love EditScript. My only problem is that--reportedly--the profit margin for the MTSO can be very low, encouraging them to send it offshore. Does anyone else have information on this?
If MTs didn't make mistakes or leave blanks,
-
Cherrypicking didn't make our line rates less -
the lower line rates are what started people c-pickingin the first place, so they could make enough each week to live on. Back when I was paid by the hour (and lots more than I'm getting now per hour, I did whatever came along. But I'm sorry, I'm not gonna GIVE an employer a chunk of my change for the 'privilege' of doing a 40-minute report by a gum-chewing ESL with static on the line, partying nurses, or crying babies in the background, that I just plain can't understand, when I have the option to choose something that is at least transcribe-able.

I didn't get any of what you said from the previous post
I think the poster was just saying that nationals do those things mentioned.  Nowhere was it said in her post that nationals are crooks.  Those are your words and you're trying to put them in her post because she she contradicted your theory.

Me, too. I was going to post earlier, but didn't
have the energy. I had the twitching thumb first about a year ago, now aches and pains every week that move or migrate all over, too. Numb legs, butt that kills me - seriously, I nearly cry when I sit down or stand up. Then it moves to my neck, or shoulders, and then back to legs. It is horrible pain, and I'm getting really worried that I'm not going to hold up for this job much longer. Its so pathetic - sitting in a chair and falling apart. I was wondering if it could be fibromyalgia-type symptoms. Horrible. You are not alone! I have also bought so many ergonomic things - chair, keyboard, mouse "platform", and forget it. Oh yes, even lighting, and I still am in pain all over the second I sit down in this chair.
You need to reread the post. I didn't say
all the freebies were scams.
I didn't get your post either Rita.
Did he do the face lift or not?  If he did the face lift and dictated it at a later date and predated the report then that goes on all of the time.  When a doctor fails to dictate then it is is dictated at a later date but the date of the actual service or the study, etc. is performed usually does not change.
I didn't mention his gender in my post at all
as you so eloquently put, the fact he does not communicate with his patients.

Being an animal doctor hardly qualifies any person or any gender to run a government health program for any person of any gender.

Being smart and trustworthy are only part of what it takes to run such an agency. Maybe a little experience?
Never mind..I didn't see your post answering that sm
very question below.

Mea Culpa.

And sadly, I don't have the Spheris Expander to which you were referring.
