Question to ask first

1) What will the options be to your employer if you strike? Answer: Hire those who aren't in on your strike, offshore and voice recognition.

2) How on earth are you going to convince those who are new to this industry, just invested money to learn through an MT program, and have hungry little mouths to feed to ABANDON IT and possibly for good? Do you realize that many strikes wind up in LOST jobs? I know, I'm from a union family.

3) If you people cannot agree enough to get a union started, put up your hard-earned money to fund it, and have the gall to even sign your names HERE on this website, how are you going to have the wherewithall to do more when you have to pay for it, sign your name to it, and then tell your employer you're not showing up because you and band of others (it won't be the majority, trust me) have decided to strike?

You've missed the boat. You don't have any leverage any longer. They have options. Too many people are willing to accept what is going on because every body on this board is employed and NOT willing to lose their jobs. They are every single one clamoring for another job with BETTER pay, not possibly lose it.

Seriously, I understand your passion. However, you are way out of your league to even think your acceptance or not of pay has ANYTHING to do with this.

Your government has made it feasible for companies to do business elsewhere. We do need to do business in other countries because we sure as heck want them to do business with us. Other countries WANT the business, they make it easy to do it.

It is just part of the The New World. You cannot possibly think that it is smart of you to EVER rely solely on 1 talent, 1 trade, 1 ability to get you through your entire life...or did you? Even the highest educated professionals must continually learn and revamp their skills and make themselves available.

Why don't you do yourself a favor and hop online to your local college or university and start something worthwhile. Something that will take you in a new direction and then you are finished with this. Something that can bring new enlightenment to you and a new avenue for provision.

My goodness.
