Well there are all phases of dementia, from pleasantly forgetfull to totally nonfunctional. Mine is not in the state of mind to make good decisions anymore. I see your point, I am a caretaker. My mother worked hard until the age of 70, when her eyes gave out. I just don't have the heart to put her somewhere where they will restrain her to a bed, keep her in a diaper on day, and check on her 3 or 4 times a day. I have worked in hands-on health care, I know how they are treated.

        Nursing homes/care facilities aren't all they are cracked up to be (sm) - lots of neglect in nursing homes.
