Exactly! Mail fraud is a HUGE offense, and it gets worse dependent on how many state lines the

envelope with the $$ crosses! (Long time E-Bayer who knows the ropes on getting scammed - only happened to me once, but I pursued the guy from coast to coast!)

Sorry it happened to you, Laura.  Weird thing - I have a C-phone sitting here unused for years and years, and you could have had it.  Now out of nowhere, I need to use it.  But let me know if you ever need one again - I may run across another one lurking in my attic!  You could have it for nothing, girl!!  And with power cord, headphones, and foot pedal!

Don't you think a lawyer would be calling you??? Sounds like a scam!!!

If the recipient does not acknowledge mail receipt, Outlook will not notify you.

You can file mail fraud charges, plus contact her
local police/sheriff department and file a claim.   It may take you a while to get your money back, if ever, but she may go to jail.
Question re: certified mail

I wasnt home today when the mail arrived, but the mailman left a postcard that my husband has a piece of certified mail to p/u. The sender is listed as from the Clerk of Courts... What do you think it could be? Nothing good I am sure!!!

Start with a Certified Mail letter.
Make sure you send your letter Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. They will have to sign saying that they received the letter. You should detail the exactly amount you are owed, a date you expect payment by and what your next step will be should they not pay you by that date. Typically, your next step would be Small Claims Court, usually administered by a local District Justice/Justice of the Peace. Be sure that you state in your letter that they would be responsible for any costs incurred should you need to go to the DJ/JP.
Might need to mail her a letter from a lawyer that requires a signature and take some action. nm
,
Call a lawyer ASAP!!
You can get advice from an attorney free for the first consultation--just make sure attorney specializes in land purchases and sales so you're given good info. You also need to go to your court house or whereever your land deed is recorded and find out what is required by the court for a legal sale of that land, get copies of everything pertaining to it, check on the taxes to make sure they are all paid or not. Lawyers do take payment plans. Don't wait on this one--if you don't want to be homeless. When it comes to greed and some families, they could treat you worse than strangers. You don't pay your house payment to them, do you? What could happen is if this is a majority party contract--meaning only a certain number of owners are required for the sale to go through--that would be on your note, they could then charge you land rent--an exorbitant amount--to make you move, so see a lawyer ASAP and take all documentation with you. Everything.

Good Luck. I am really sorry this is happening to you.
Email scam - Please read!

If anyone has received an email from a "Susan Ronald" or an email talking about a $12 million deposit in a trunk at a securities company in the U.S. that they want you to pick up personally and send to them, please contact me by email and I will give you an FBI website to send it to for investigation.

Thanks.

E-mail says I have been left 1/4 million bucks by distant relative. Do you think this is a scam?
I could really use the money.
The last call I received after a huge mailing (sm)

And I mean huge, over 200 brochures with over 25 years of experience and a digital system -- they were willing to pay about 9 cents a line for surgery notes.  Since I live in California, 16 cents would be more like it.  I guess I'm not that flexible.

They must have answered that India ad.

Should I call this Detective? I talked to her by e-mail just the other day
I haven't been on the board in a few days and was shocked to see this post. I had some contact with her, but didn't purchase her merchandise.
Should I be calling this detective for such casual dealings?
you ask all your friends to email you rather than call. nm

FOLLOW UP with either an email or phone call.
It's not being pushy or desperate. It's showing the company that you definitely are interested and motivated. MTSOs want go-getters who will get 'er done, not people who sit back waiting and waiting. You need to follow up and make sure your email didn't hit their spam filters or accidentally get deleted.
They at least owed you a call/email stating they would not -
After being in contact with an applicant, having them fill out a form, etc., it's just plain rude to give them no feedback whatsoever. What if an applicant let another job pass by while waiting for this one, thinking it was a better job and that because things had gone well on the phone conversation, that the application process would at least continue. Very unfair to you, and very rude of the employer.
I have a call in system and also use tapes. We send completed reports via encrypted email.
I use MPCount, which is a free line counting program that you can download and it works great.
Can someone from the Ohio MQ office give me a contact person and a phone number to call or an email
address. I am interesting in asking a few questions to someone there in hopes of possibly transferring but I need some info first before I go from one problem to the same one elsewhere.
They are SCAM, often referred to as "Trans-scam" sm
Trans America Associates used to be Trans Am and they are apparently altering their name so as not to be recognized for the scam they are.
Probably not much you can do, but at least notify
.
I ask them to notify me when she is going to take off - sm
and they are pretty good about letting me know. Every now and then they forget though; and she switches her days about on me sometimes. When that happens (they upload at 6pm or so) I just do it the next day and shift things about if necessary. All you can do is ask them to advise you when he is going to be off and hope they do. Also if you are going away, take a laptop and have it set up for work so you can check for work anywhere you happen to be; otherwise you would never go visit friends, relatives, etc.
Notify your boss
Depending on the company you work for, you might get results.  It's very frustrating when you see something that needs changed but are powerless.  When working for Edix, I had a patient that had the exact same condition my son has and there was a new treatment that had saved his life, yet her doctor did not know about it and she was at the point of being near death and only in her 20s.  I emailed my supervisor and asked them to please notify the doctor of the information I sent and they said nope, no way, against the law.  That was nearly 3 years ago and still bothers me wondering how the patient turned out.
I am an IC and I work when I want. I notify them when I
can work. They do not tell me when to work.
Notify the police that this guy is in the area and tell

She is fraud
Yes, you are right she will do it to someone again. I had read about her on this board cheating someone but thought that won't happen to me but it did! I will pursue this matter with full determination. Thanks so much for your input!
THIS IS A SCAM!!! This is an absolute scam -
please tell us that you did not send them any money!! There have even been articles written in magazines about this company being a SCAM!!
Please leave an email or email me at my address....click the email button. Thanks...nm

Explain the fraud, please
I would really like to know what you think is fraudulent.
see message about PayPal fraud

I went online one day to check my bank account balance and I was overdrawn. I was shocked. I saw an automatic withdrawal transaction for a company that I had never even heard of for a product that I had never even ordered.

The only thing that I went through PayPal for was a microcassette player that nobody else had bid on through ebay.  I got that for 99 cents, plus shipping and handling. Incidentally it still works after nearly 2 years.

I called my bank and was told that the automatic withdrawal had gone through my PayPal account for a company I had never heard of for a "computer software item" that I never received, although I was charged for shipping.

I spent months attempting to receive a response from PayPal. I finally received an e-mail that said to print the attached affidavit of fraud, but found that the attachment could not be opened  to be printed.  PayPal finally agreed, via email, to give me a telephone number that I could contact and that I would receive that telephone number by US postal service within 2 to 3 weeks. Of course when I recieved the number and called it, I had to leave a message.

The recorded PayPal voice did eventually call me back when I was not at home and sent me another letter saying that I did not respond to their attempts to contact me.

Arrrrgh.

I filled out paperwork at my bank for fraud against PayPal, closed my bank account and eventually (almost one year later) received a bank check from my former bank for close to $300.00 in overdraft fees.

Apparently my former bank was going to collect from PayPal for their fraud. Whether or not they were successful in that attempt , I do not know.

My advice is to stay away from PayPal period. It may work for you now, but you never know.  After all, they have all of your information.

See, you're just a fraud. Otherwise, you'd answer.

Request that they place a stop payment on the check, reissue, and mail priority or overnight mail
If they refuse or invent unbelievable excuses, you'll know you have a problem. If MY check was a week late, there are many months I would be in deep trouble.
I realize checks occasionally do get lost in the mail. If they are 100% sure it was mailed, then they shouldn't mind issuing another.

Be firm and be persistent.
My friend who works for them is having her mail go to her own account. She hates this new mail prog

In every company I have worked for that pays via mail, they mail the checks on payday. sm
Depending on the distance you can get them anywhere from 3-8 days later. Right now one takes 3 days, the other 3-5.
should I get certified?

I'm fairly new to this site, and all of you seem to have so much knowledge and experience.  Next month, I will be eligible to take the CMT exam.  Currently I work in-house at a hospital.  Certification is not a requirement, and I am not even sure if it is recognized.  I'm considering certification because of the possible benefit to me if I do need a job elsewhere.  In your opinion/experience, is it worth it?

Becoming Certified??
I'm wondering how hard it is to get your certification and what the positives are to becoming certified?  Is the pay better?  Do you have more opportunites, etc?

organization that says I am is the answer.  I feel if the organization is for MTs, then the test should be free for anyone who wants to take it.  I think the fee is all part of the money making scheme set forth by any and all organizations aimed at certain professions.

Experience is the gravy in this main meal.  Once you've got it, you pretty much have it in the bag and do not need initials after your name to make you look good.

I would not advise a new MT in this day and age to go straight to online work for a national.  Go in-house at least part-time and learn all that you can.  That is by far more favorable than initials after your name, for sure, all in my opinion, of course!

My mail carrier just informed me that the mail is sorted by
prisoners as part of their work.  Now do you feel safer and more secure?
Block her E-mail, return mail unopened

On AOL I can determine who I want to receive mail from and block those I do not  -- and if they are blocked  they get their E-mail back as being "undeliverable".  If she sends things out -- send back --unaccepted.  But to be simple just E-mail her back or call the recuriter if you don't want to deal with her directly and state -- leave me alone.  If she is in another state you should not be scared of her but you may simply have to put it out there in no uncertain terms.
