You are one smart person,
this, Soft Script would go out of business!!! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.
Well I wouldn't call a person "stupid" because they aren't from here, but SM
maybe you mean because of the poor use of the language. I know what you mean.
This is strange. I just discussed a flexible on-call person
for radiology with the owner of Keystrokes, where I have worked for 4 years. We were discussing the feasibility of having someone trained on a few accounts, ready to do "x" number of reports a day without a fixed schedule, floating on a few different accounts.

If anyone is interested, please email the office. You can do so through the ads on the job seekers board.
Time to call the authorities and put this person out of business. no mess.
ll
Can't your set-up person talk you through this? Or call Dictaphone direct if you're
s
Such lies. Just yesterday I had a payroll problem. 1 phone call, person answered, and IMMEDIATELY
remedied the situation. There are always people there to help us.  Wendy is just lying, and like I'll bet she's lying about her name! Its sooooooooo stupid to do this stuff when you're a disgruntled ex.
Can someone from the Ohio MQ office give me a contact person and a phone number to call or an email
address. I am interesting in asking a few questions to someone there in hopes of possibly transferring but I need some info first before I go from one problem to the same one elsewhere.
You are not expecting too much, though

For one thing you need a break,  With the holidays coming up at least you won't have running the kids to school which should give you a few minutes where you can have some "me" time.  Can you adjust your schedule so that you have a split schedule and get up early and work a couple of hours before you take the kids to school and then work in the afternoon, or work in the evening after the kids have gone to bed?   If you can split it up like that, that would give you some time in the evening to clean house, spend time with family, and still have some down time for you.

If the family helps with chores, just make a list of what needs to be done and divide it up so that everyone gets accomplished.  If you aren't so harried about getting things done you can concentrate on work, knock it out, and then have some restful time for family.

I think the holidays are stressful even on a good day.  We have our tree, doesn't have the first decoration on it, but we plan to do that today.   Haven't wrapped the first present either, but at least all but 1 is bought.

No, they're not expecting too much.
The problem here isn't that 1500 lines is too much, but that you think it's unreasonable. If you are angry about this or feel that it's unfair, you'll have a harder time meeting your new obligation.

The 1500 lines a day is a reasonable expectation. It's about 50-75% of what you could minimally produce.

Their expectation of 1000 lines per day for their acute care, i.e., "medical," dictation is about 50-75% of what an acute care Transcriptionist should be able to produce.

Psychiatric dictation is easier to understand and doesn't involve complicated surgical procedures, a lot of anatomy and physiology, or exotic diseases. It's just basically English.

At the moment, you might not feel that you can reach this, but you can.

You didn't tell us what your current productivity was, but if you're not already able to produce 1500 lines a day, you are either doing chores that do not generate transcribed lines or you are not working at your full potential.

All hospitals have their noses held to the bottom line now. They have to justify expenses.

If you and your coworkers don't want them to start considering outsourcing and/or voice recognition as viable alternatives, you will need to be the most economical alternative.

If I were you, I'd aim for 2000 lines a day. That will make reaching 1500 easier.

How long do you have to do this? A month? Assume you have HALF of whatever time they give you. Set up an improvement schedule which increases your line count daily until you can hit 1500 lines daily in half that time. Every day, aim to produce MORE so that you will always average out to 1500 a day, even if you have bad days.

During your period of improvement, every time you can't make your count, figure out what nonproductive activity prevented it and eliminate it.

At our facility, employees either improve on their own or get put on a performance improvement plan. Once on that, they have 90 days to meet the standards and keep their jobs.

If everyone produces very little right now, it could very well be due to playback being too slow. If it's set for everyone uniformly, you might need to have it set a bit faster every week until it's not dragging you down.

Was expecting more from last night's performances . . . wonder if they are pushing them with too
many activities, etc, and they're just tired.  Ace was too cute, but didn't really think his song was that great.  I think Lisa may be on her way out, even though she has a great voice, it was one of the weaker performances, and I think Ace's looks will keep him in for another couple of weeks.
Oops, missed the part about expecting it to be as big as the moon!
.
I work for the person. I know. Very excellent person, personally and business-sense.
It is an INSULT to have QA hovering over seasoned MTs who know what they are doing. She trusts her MTs and again if there are questions there is one person, a trainer, who can answer them via phone, e-mail or instant message or you can send the whole report to them if you choose.
Point was is the person willing to make up for the slack of the person who types 1 job when there is

if that is all they WANT to type.   Is the person who wants to be a supervisor willing to make up for those people?

You have crap supervisors, editors and mts in the business like you have good ones.   Sadly, the really good ones of all of them are few and far between.

When you have a QA person that is picky and another QA person that is very lenient where does that
leave the MTs because some are getting a lenient reviewer and others are getting one that picks at everything. How do you reconcile that issue with the difference in QA mentality. Some people make out well and the other people could be just as good but dont. I wonder about that.
The person MTSO pays is the person who

got the "phone call" -- get this, MQ has hired a bunch of telemarketers to call all of us to

we received our "incentive packet."  They don't even have the wherewithall to contact us personally.   These are temp-agency hired telemarketers sitting around a boiler room making sure we're reading our mail.... told him it don't pertain to me because I've been demoted from FT to SE.... He said, "yes, the letter is vague, but it does pertain to FT as well as SE...." yeah right, we'll see.

On-call requires on-call compensation by law
This field gets more disgustingly grotesque daily.
No need to be smart with him. He's got my
respect for having earned his degree, whether or not he's working in that field and for whatever reason.

Not because they are smart...because they
IQ was never the issue!
If they are smart and get out ;)

We are just so smart... sm

and great at what we do that we need a challenge once in a while.  No, switching professions is not the answer if your desire is to stay at home.  I have found that helping each other through these message boards has been quite invigorating, and to know that I am not alone in my endeavors is quite reassuring, I must say!

Smart Gal!
Yes, this is the only job I believe where the salary goes down in time instead of up. You are smart to find another career. I have been in this line of work over 20 years and only wish I had made another move early on. Good luck to you.
One person's "custom" is another person's
"house arrest". I'd never go to the Middle East because of how they treat women. I don't agree with their laws or "justice" system. For example, the woman who was gang raped as punishment for the actions of her 12-year-old brother, a boy who wasn't even an adult. How's that for a "custom"? Let's not forget bride burning. Burqas.

Besides, foreigners don't follow our "customs" when they come to this country. Half of them don't even bother learning English. Instead, we're expected to pay for healthcare and foodstamps for illegals and print everything in Spanish.

I won't be oppressed or treated as a second class citizen, and I wouldn't treat others like that either. A "custom" is more like putting up a Christmas tree, not being abused based on your gender.
i'm sure it will vary from person to person.
I recently did the same thing and am loving it! The freedom from time clocks, the better company, make losing the benefits well worth it to me. You need to set up a plan to have $ set aside for taxes though. I should have done this years ago!
Wrong person. I'm not the person you were
any money.  You have a sucky attitude, a "poor me" attitude.  Get off your lazy whiny a$$ and work instead of complaining and you will make money.  I have one account at 10.5 cpl, two at 14 cpl and one at 15 cpl.  I make a lot of money, even on the 10.5 cpl.  But I'm not sitting around whining either.  And I didn't whine when I made $6 an hour.
oh, sorry, yes that is important sm
the pay is average for a national.  I make $900/week. I think that's pretty darn good!
How important is it to you ...

How important is it to you that your US medical records are KEPT in the USA?

Does it matter to you?  Why or why not?

It's VERY important to me. I don't want anyone in the US much less
outside of the US knowing my business, financial, medical, or otherwise.  If I can't sue someone who has used my information for their personal gain then that is a problem for me.  It would cost me a fortune to sue someone overseas who say sold my information or threatened to put it on the Internet.
How important is it
Very important. I am HIV and do not want that information going anywhere.
but TAT is what is important and OP...sm

stated that they were having a TAT problem prior - so?  TAT is promised, not met, and so the OP didn't meet her/his end of the bargain.  I promise 24-48 hour TAT and that's what they have been getting from me for nearly 10 years.

A deal is a deal is a deal - whether on paper or not on paper - verbal contracts are also recognized - just ask Judge Judy *lol*

To the OP - I hope things go better for you truly - but remember this:  A promise made is a debt unpaid....that also is in regards to TAT.  Best of luck - things will turn around for you, I am hopeful.

And this is important. sm

It varies state to state, I am sure.  You need to get the house out of your mother's name.  Where I live, the house has to come out of their name 2 YEARS before they can get in a decent nursing home.  There are a not of variables and when you are running to doctors, doing shopping for 2 people, cleaning, plus working full-time which no one realizes if you are an MT because you are "at home";  you really don't have time to keep all the plates spinning by yourself, with no help, and this issue about my mother's home should have been addressed a long, long time ago.

It's important to ask
questions of a potential employer but sounds like she overdid it.

Have to admit though she certainly doesn't lack confidence!
Smart Young Man

Your son sounds like a very smart young man. Not many kids these days truly care about their education. They look at high school as a party/social time, and dont look into the future what so ever, and said thing is a lot of our children are not getting the guidance from home either.

My son loves to learn and loves to be challenged and with him being home schooled we are able to do so.

And one other positive note on home schooling college intrance exams have shown that home schooled kids are just as smart if not smarter than those who go to public or private schools. The one on one they get is a big big factor in that.

Best of Luck!!!!!!!

work smart - -
You must be an IC. Yes?? Is that where "it's" at?
Monkey's are too smart for the job! LOL - nm

That's a smart post.
I like how you think. Very good.
info on Smart Med
Their pay is pretty good.  Bennies pretty good.  Platform not so good.  Tech support leaves much to be desired.
There just might be, but rather than be smart alec

Transcriptionists are smart!
I had a doctor say to his "residents" that they should do transcription because I was answering all of the questions they could not, just because I've transcribed for so many years!  That was kind of a nice feeling, if I do say so myself!  So... maybe we could all be doctors some day!
smart move. JMO

You're smart to do that.
You must feel much less bored and isolated by getting out into the real world and taking part in something more involved-feeling.

Really Smart Docs
From OB ultrasound report: "The fetus is single."

Good for that fetus! No fetus should marry before being born.
that's pretty smart.
will have to remember that.
Smart Type
You are better off just using one Expander at a time. There are things that ST will do that IT will not and vise versa. It is a matter of figuring out what is best for your needs.

You are welcome to email me and I can answer more specific questions for you.
You are 1 smart cookie
No matter what your age, you have done all the right things in order to have things go smoothly and be a productive worker at home. I like your way of doing things!
Is this legal or just not very smart? (sm)
I have a cardiologist who dictates from a template.  Even if he does not mention things from the template, they are to be left in (negatives and positives).  This includes in the PE a respiratory rate of 12.  He never mentions it, but I have been told to leave it in.  The odds of every patient he sees having a respiratory rate of 12 are pretty astronomical, and I think a lawyer could have fun with this if pressed.  My supervisor agrees but feels we should give the client what they want.
Not too smart a question
I am sure, but I am totally new to digital transcription, as I have always used tapes.  I have a service I am wanting to test with who sent me a voice file.  I am using Express Scribe.  The file is an .exe file, and I cannot get Express Scribe to accept it.  What am I doing wrong?
Smart Type with
MedRite-XL ... what would the benefits of using Smart Type rather than the MedRite expander?  Need to to anything I can to get faster.
It is smart to have 2 jobs if you can - sm
I have 2 IC jobs, though I don't work at the 1 much anymore (just weekends if I am not too busy); I have more accounts now with the 1 job (didn't have enough work like you before) though stilll not making quite what I want but slowly creeping up to my goal. I have the other IC job to fall back on if needed which is nice to know. I also have 1 account of my own and am about to seek some more out, so maybe I can reach my personal goal. But is it smart to have 2 jobs since if one dries up or they lose the account you are on then you still have income coming in.
smart gloves
Love the smart gloves. they have sort of a bean bag on the palm and do not restrict your typing at all.
