well i copied them once
when i went from one company that used DQS to another that used it -- the 2nd company helped me copy the files over. Unfortunately i don't know now how we did it. BUT, i tell you this, so you know it can be done (with the right help). Good luck.
Thank you. I copied (sm)
your instructions.  One thing I forgot about is defrag.  Doing that now.  I already run AVG, but I will check out the others you mention.  Thanks again for taking the time to give detailed instructions.
I just copied/pasted
My existing templates into a new document in the facility folder. With each facility you set up you create a template list. I don't think there is a limit on templates, but I may be wrong. There are already some there and I actually just pasted into those and renamed them. I only have a couple per doc though so it didn't take much time.
Still don't know what I did, but I copied and pasted into
a new document and it fixed it.
I have copied and pasted from IRS

guidelines.  If URL does not work, the link is also included so you can paste and copy in your browser.

If you hire an electrician, a painter, or a roofer (as examples of independent contractors), you do not tell them HOW to do their work or WHEN to do their work.  Just try doing so and see how many contractors you can obtain.

Today, we have these large companies not only telling us how to do the work for which we have been trained, but when to do the work (specifically, what days of the week and what hours).  Certainly, the quality of the end product must meet the client's approval or the contract can be cancelled.  It cannot be cancelled on the grounds of not working specific days or hours each day to fulfill that contract.  If you sign a contract specifying you will produce 1000 or 1200 or 1600 lines per day and you meet that production, a client (the MTSO) cannot fault you if you produce the agreed upon lines in 4 hours, 6 hours, 3 days, 2 days, etc.  When requiring you to work a specified schedule of x number of hours producinig x number of lines, then it becomes employee-employer status, not one of client-independent contractor status.

Also note the evalutation system below.  I would saying doing QA in evaluating a contractor's performance is an evaluation system.  Would you?  What about being  put on probation or fined (as some companies are now doing)?  Does that point to employee status?  Can you put a roofing contractor on probabtion or issue a fine?

And...just read the section on training.  An eyeopener for certain.

Below are the guidelines.  I say we ICs start filling out the misclassified workers form.  If we are treated as employees, then we need tax relief.  If MTSOs provide employee status in some states and not others, AS WELL AS hiring ICs, then an IC cannot be required to adhere to the policies and procedures that their employees are required to adhere, and that includes WHEN the work will be performed and HOW it will be performed.  The guidelines are clear.

I'm not afraid of broaching this subject for fear jobs will go to a third world country.  They are going there at a rate faster than the speed of lightning anyway, and nothing we as ICs or employees can do will stop it.  They are going there because it is a cheap, cheap way of doing business.

Independent Contractor

The general rule is that an individual is an independent contractor if (the person for whom the services are performed) has the right to control or direct only the result of the work, and not what will be done and how it will be done or method of accomplishing the result.

People such as lawyers, contractors, subcontractors, public stenographers, and auctioneers who follow an independent trade, business, or profession in which they offer their services to the public, are generally not employees. However, whether such people are employees or independent contractors depends on the facts in each case. The earnings of a person who is working as an independent contractor are subject to Self-Employment (SE) tax.

Evaluation System

If an evaluation system measures the details of how the work is performed, then these factors would point to an employee.

If the evaluation system measures just the end result, then this can point to either an independent contractor or an employee.

Training

If the business provides the worker with training on how to do the job, this indicates that the business wants the job done in a particular way.  This is strong evidence that the worker is an employee. Periodic or on-going training about procedures and methods is even stronger evidence of an employer-employee relationship. However, independent contractors ordinarily use their own methods.

Misclassified Workers Can File Social Security Tax Form
Workers who believe they have been improperly classified as independent contractors by an employer can use Form 8919, Uncollected Social Security and Medicare Tax on Wages to figure and report the employee’s share of uncollected Social Security and Medicare taxes due on their compensation. See the full article Misclassified Workers to File New Social Security Tax Form for more information.

I copied and pasted the reports
into Chartscript.net. I didn't even bother typing the original in Chartscipt, just typed everything in word and then copied over. I also use ShortHand and there were always missing letters in my shortcuts when I plugged them in. I no longer work on CS but am on one that is just about as bad.

We were told not to use the Expander in Chartscript at all and whenever I tried to change/save something in there it would not let me so it was usless anyway. I did have to turn off that expander and remember to turn it back on before pulling in the next template though as you stated.

The only way I have found to accomplish any production at all with the last 3 platforms I have been on is to type in Word then copy over to the platform. And that works until the system totally freezes, or you get kicked off........*sigh*

If companies are going to expect a certain amount of production each day I sure wish they had platforms that would help us accomplish that!
Inside is a page I just copied with directions for

In Windows, how do I check my computer's IP address or physical (aka MAC) address?

Windows NT, 2000, and XP

To see what IP address, default gateway, and subnet mask your computer is using:

  1. Click the Start button and select All Programs (XP) or Programs (NT and 2000).

  2. Select Accessories, then Command Prompt (2000 and XP), or Command Prompt (NT).

  3. At the command prompt, enter: ipconfig
  4. To close the command prompt, enter: exit

For other IP information on Windows, including the physical address, at the command prompt, enter:

ipconfig /all | more

This will give you information regarding your computer's TCP/IP setup, including:

Host name
DNS servers
Physical address
IP address
Subnet mask
Default gateway
WINS servers

The IP address will be a series of numbers following the pattern xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, for example, 156.56.27.32.

The physical address, which many people call the MAC address, will be a series of six hexadecimal number pairs following the pattern xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, for example, 00-40-A4-F3-C0-01.

Note: If you have more than one active network adapter, you will see multiple entries here. Many laptop users nowadays have at least two adapters: one for the regular Ethernet adapter, and one for the wireless 802.11b or 802.11g card. Some computers will have three entries or more (for example, for either an infrared or a Bluetooth adapter). Sometimes it's easy to distinguish between the two (for example, one of them will say "wireless" next to "Description:"), but other times it's not (the description will give only a manufacturer and model). You may have to consult the manufacturer's documentation for your computer to tell which section of the ipconfig/all | more output refers to which network adapter.

Windows XP, without using the command prompt

Alternatively, in Windows XP, if you want to find this information and want to stay within the graphic user interface, or for any reason do not want to use DOS commands, you can find this information by doing the following:

  1. Right-click the My Network Places icon, and then select Properties.

  2. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon. Occasionally, there will be a number on the end (e.g., Local Area Connection 2); it depends on your computer's configuration. If you are looking for the MAC address for a wireless adapter, the icon will normally be named Wireless Network Connection.

  3. Click the Support tab.

  4. Click the Details... button.

The physical address (MAC address) and IP address will be listed in the window that appears.

Windows 95, 98, and Me

To check your computer's IP address or physical address, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Start button and select Run... .

  2. Type winipcfg and click OK.

  3. From the drop-down menu, select the adapter being used for your connection:

    • Select PPP Adapter if you're dialing in.

    • Select the Ethernet adapter if you're connected to a LAN or a broadband connection.

    • Select the wireless adapter if you're connected via wireless.

The IP address will appear in its labeled field. The MAC address will appear in a field labeled Adapter Address.

Alternatively, you may follow these steps:

  1. Click the Start button and select Settings, then Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Network. Select TCP/IP, then click Properties.

The IP address appears under the IP Address page tab.

Note: If you are using Dial-up Networking (i.e., PPP) or DHCP (campus housing at Indiana University Bloomington uses DHCP), the IP address is dynamically assigned by the terminal server, and Obtain an IP address automatically should be selected.

Note: You can use the Get Connected web site to register your Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows Vista, or Mac OS X (10.3 and later) computer to use the IU network in campus housing. Computers running Windows 2000 or Linux, as well as game consoles, must be manually registered. For help, contact the UITS Support Center at IUB by calling 812-855-6789 or at IUPUI by calling 317-274-4357. You cannot register Windows 95, 98, or Me on the IU network in campus housing.

I copied and pasted, hope you do not mind but this is really good (NM)

Forgive me...
Perhaps I'm missing something here, and if so, I apologize.  I run a service.  If you transcribed for my accounts, you wouldn't be an IC; you'd be a SC.  That being the case, nine cents is a good rate given reasonable clarity of the dictators and other factors involved, which are many.
Please forgive me if this has already been said...
I have worked with women involved in domestic violence for the last 15 years. You can call the local police deparment to find the domestic violence advocates in your area. There are shelters where you and your kids and stay. I believe each state may vary on how many days you can stay. These shelters for the most part are secret. The advocates have ways of helping you make a plan to move out safely. They can help you get a potection order, got to court, etc. In the protection order you may request your husband move out. But please keep in mind a protection order is only a piece of paper and doesn't mean your husband won't get upset and break the protection order. The advocates can also be a wonderful support system for you. I hope this will help you. (800) 799-SAFE this is the domestic violence hotline and they can put you touch with someone in your area. Also this website is good...http://www.dvpsh.org/ Just click on "getting help" and there are tons of numbers listed where you can go for help.
Forgive--SM
after 10 years of marriage, it happened to me too. We divorced, but only because he wanted to be with her more than he wanted to be with me, which is fine...now. It hurt alot at the time and anger ruled my world, but you cannot hold onto that. The only person it hurts is you. You have to move forward instead of staying stuck in the rut of anger and hostility. I forgave him, after the fact. Not that he deserved it, but because I had to let it go...for MY sake. Everybody makes mistakes. Perhaps marrying me in the first place was a mistake. Who knows? But I am happier now...alone, but happy. Hopefully he is too. I did love him, and hating him now would only hurt me, not him, or what he did. Let it go.
Forgive me
Yes I know what HIPAA is - it kept me from visting a friend in the hospital last week. I understand what the person is saying - i don't understand the concern by someone other than an American - you can just ignore my comments if you don't agree or if you feel i am ignorant. this is an open forum - and i abide by the rules - so i feel that i can speak my mind or someone else's if i choose. but thanks for the concern that i am ignorant - that's really one more thing we don't need here - is more ignorance.
Hee hee! I can forgive them nearly anything
if they apologize to me for it. Means they know I'm alive.
Forgive me...sm

but when I first saw your post, I asked myself...is this a joke?  Then I read it again and I realized what you were after (I only read the tagline).

I have been an MT for 12 yrs or so and I have used the same expander, same library for 10 of those years.  I would not still be an MT if I had not had someone turn me onto an Expander and insist that I use it.  As I recall, I was doing about 100 to 115 lines an hour without the expander and with a very few (about 300) autocorrects.  (I started using an expander that came with a library of about 13,800 terms and began to tweak it.  I have more like 20,000 now.)  I went past 150 lph within about 2 weeks, over 175 in a month, over 250 the next month and then I did spend about 4 or 5 months reaching for 300 lph with the expander.  I didn't get faster than that for some time because other things needed to catch up...like my "ear" and my working knowledge of medical terminology. It took time because I also was not maximizing my expander and I am still not sure that I am truly maximizing it.  I could make better use of it, I am sure.  I work full time and for the past 9 days' worth of work I have 16,000 lines and still need to work one more day this week.  Without an expander, I would not have half that.  I am just not that fast of a typist, but I am expander whiz.

There is a free expander around and it used to be this site that had it, but it isn't any longer.  I have a library I am happy to share, but you'd have to put my 20,000 terms in by hand because it does not have a converter.

Please forgive me .. all people who
live in the South are not cut from the same cloth.  I have been watching this for a week now and my heart breaks each and every time I see the images on our TV not that far from where **I** live.  I was lucky to come from good circumstances, and yet I was taught as a child to NEVER put one person above another and that our good fortune could leave for any number of reasons.  This storm took a national treasure and dessimated it because the federal government did not allocate the monies needed to make a jewel of a city safe for its residents and vistors.  I really love living in Florida out of the snow and the winters I cannot ever forget, but I guess that Florida in essence represents many of the ills in our society because now it is a melting pot of many people from all over this country and Europe too who come here to enjoy weather and sun.  We are destroying this state too in the name of progress and to me, when you wreak havoc on nature .. eventually you pay for it.  The universe is about balance and we are ruining it.  Humanity is about basic human principle and we have forgotten them.  We police the world and we dictate how people should live in our image .. and yet it is tarnished by so many ridiculous things .. like not being willing (because we are certainly able) to care for our own.  We are products of our environment and the precepts we were taught as children.  My mother and I had many differences while she was alive but I can look still to her and feel pride in what I was taught as a child and I thank her in times like these that she was such a good mother to us and made us understand what is right and what is simply unconscienable.  And, lastly, in times like these should we quote Montel Williams or should we go a bit deeper than that and wonder what Jesus is thinking of us now?
No problem, we forgive you.

Forgive me, but isn't that kinda mean?

Besides, my friend has the "collar" for her yorkie and the dang thing yaps right over it. The way I did it with my dog when he was a pup didn't make him "afraid" of barking (knowing he'd get zapped). He just learned that we did not like it when he barked.  He also doesn't jump up on people unless I give him the okay and he does NOT lick people. EEEEW.

I didn't rely on gadgets with my dog.  I trained him with patience and rewards.  Works every time and makes a heck of a better dog.

If you're going to zap a dog when he barks, why not just kick him?  The "correction devices" are only made for people that don't want to bother to spend the time.

No I would not. That is the 1 thing I can not forgive.
I told my husband that if he ever cheats I will cut his gonads off - and I mean it. Infidelity is one thing I will not tolerate or live with.

My take is - don't make an A**hole out of me. If that is what you want, tell me and then go to it. Sneaking aorund and everyone in the world knowing what you are doing before me is a bad mistake. If you want to be with someone else - that is fine, just tell me first. I will have less of a problem with that rather than lying to me and sneaking around. I think you all get what I am trying to say.

So, no I would never forgive such behavior or forget it. I also told my husband that will be the one thing I will divorce him over and take him to the cleaners.

Other than that, we are happily married.
I think I could forgive..but not forget.

If either him or I cheated, the trust is gone in the marriage.  I think I would forgive him (not right away) as he is the father of my kids and I will always have a relationship with him whether married or not, but I I think at that point, the marriage would be over.  That's what marriage is to me, loyalty to each other.  I would say he feels the same way.  I can forgive anyone, it's just my nature, but I don't forget.

Forgive me if you misunderstood..
I agree that you must be a fast typist in order to make a decent financial living. I just do not think that speed should be placed above accuracy just for speed sake. Speed comes with knowledge, knowledge is obtained by looking over your reports and transcribing correctly.
You might, but some recruiters might not forgive that

Forgive me if this is old news.

Came across this article tonight; while it comes to no conclusions, it's interesting nonetheless.  Especially where an executive from a national MT company calls his at-home MTs "overpaid housewives."

Forgive me if you have already attempted this, but
there are certain doctors I speed up very fast and believe it or not I actually understand them better. Others I slow down and have the same affect.

Not to be insulting but have you tried this, do you have easy access to the speed?

Best of luck and you may not believe it but sometimes you can pick up more skills with the more difficult dictators...I started that way with a supervisor (it is funny now but was not then) who gave me every difficult (terrible) dictator for an entire hospital, and it only made me better...
Sorry about the typo - forgive me

the proper resource for a local clinic - didn't you look in the phone book? For the doc, you can google. I work for hospitals in three other states and I have to look that stuff up all the time. You're supposed to use the resources you have, without having QA tell you the obvious. Just my opinion.
Forgive the last message, but WHAT do I have to do to make 40,000

Forgive an ignorant question

What's a gross line?

Stupid, I know.  I really don't know what that is, though. Thanks.

forgive the stupid question, but....
I've never had to deal with this before. There is no way IC's can collect unemployment, right?
I admire your ability to forgive and hopefully this will all blow over - however, that being said,

please make sure that Animal Control did not list this as an "incident" so that it may not be used against your dog in the future, even if no charges were filed.  A lot of states have a strict "no bite or 3 bite" policy and would not want this to count against your dog later in life.  My brother-in-law's dog bit a child when it got tangled up in her bicycle wheels (granted she should not have been that close to the child in the first place), so we've learned to be very careful about our animals.

Lord forgive me for saying this, but at the start of this, they interviewed her roommates on CNN, I
think. Maybe Fox. At any rate, the girls were rather "smug" about it all, said that Natalee was quite taken with this Dutch kid and had basically "dumped" her friends the last 2 days to hang all over this guy.  When they were asked what was "so special" about him, they said that Natalee was quite flattered that he was paying attention to her, as he was considered the "#1 Catch On the Island"...So, that certainly explains why her friends weren't "covering her back". She had ditched them more or less to be with Romeo.  Happened to me a lot in the "old bar hopping days" with my girlfriends.  One would hook up with some total stranger, and just dump the rest of us "singles" for the night.  Luckily, they all lived, though we did have a scary encounter now and again, this being in Southern Florida.
One late check, I'd forgive, but the 2nd and I'd on my way to the Labor Board. (nm)

Yes, I read your post, and I just re-read it, and I've copied and pasted for you in case

you've forgotten your own words! Your post above is 100% different "flavor" to it, now all positive and cheery! Your first post was 100% doom and gloom every which way, including "raining on your parade", and "if you want to go forward"...God, sounds like she's talking about jumping into oncoming traffic! Here is your quote:

My first boss (the one who hired me as a new grad) gave me some words of wisdom that I haven't forgotten. She said that transcribing at home with small children NEVER works under any circumstance. Either the work will suffer or the parenting will suffer.

****

How can the word "NEVER" in caps be interpreted in any positive way? You took about 8 paragraphs to cover every aspect and completely dash this poor woman's dream.  I'm not blind, I'm not talking about day care at all, I'm talking about the total negativity of your original post! You know exactly what I'm talking about, cause you added some sugar to your second version! And that's much nicer than the first!

Excellent post! I copied this post and...
am going to show it to my shrink so he can understand my frustration with my new "profession!" By the way, how much you wanna bet he pulls in 300$ an hour and has two years of schooling on me! Hmmmmmmm. Okay, you flamers, don't tell me to go back to school...I am thinking about it. Hmmmm

OMG, you FORGIVE Walmart shoppers? Are you nutz. Did Walmart
put an over-priced small business owner out of business. What is your PROBLEM?

I see old people who would otherwise not have a job smiling and happy with Walmart. I see undereducated people who do not look employable working at Walmart. Walmart employs millions of Americans who may otherwise be on public assistance.

Question to a long timer. I have been transcribing for 15 years. I have been with one hospital for 10 years. I recently added a part time national using the same equipment and same format as my original account. For my original account I average 15-20 minutes an hour. After a month with second account, I am still only at about 8 minutes an hour. They do have a lot of ESL but so does my primary account (just not as bad, even when I first started them). I'm suppose to do a certain amount of minutes for this secondary acount, thinking I could do it in 2-3 hours a day, but I just can't reach my goal and I just do not have the time to work any more hours. Any advice?

End of times?
Does anyone think this unusually hot weather in practically all parts of the U.S. has anything to do with Bible predictions?
Can be done..but at times it can't...(SM)
I am never amazed at people that are in "awe" over the fact I work at home, which of course to them means I can keep my kids there and save tons of money on daycare. I have had countless people that have never touched a keyboard ask "So how do I get started doing that so I can stay at home with my kids?"....sorry..butI can't help but just giggle inside..much in "awe" of their cluelessness.

I did this job for years in house before ever finally being able to work into an at home position. I worked in house with my 1st child and was of course broke...so needless to say he was in daycare as early as they would take him. About a year and a half ago I had my 2nd child and really milked this one for all it was worth. Wanted to keep her home with me as looooong as I possibly could. I made it to 5 months and honestly, should have probably stopped at 4. The age of your child makes all the difference in the world. When she was a very young baby and slept most of the day..yeah it was fine, worked out really well. But the older they get..the more they are aware you are there but not paying them 100% attention...and the harder it starts to get. He's 19 months old now..and even if the daycare is closed for a day that I have to work we end up having to send him to my mother in law's house for the day..it's nearly impossible to get anything done with him here. He sees mommy sitting here staring at this screen and will bang on the keyboard, stand here and scream for the attention he wants to be focused on him instead. At this age..keeping him home is not a good thing. My oldest child now is in grade school..days out of school..he's fine to stay home. He can play and entertain himself and needs nowhere near the attention the baby does. If you have a schedule that you can work a couple hours here and a couple hours there and late evenings after bedtimes, then you might be able to make it work out fine. I'm an employee, not an IC...therefore I'm required to work a set schedule and keep up a required amount of production...cannot be done with a lil one interrupting that on a constant basis. Look at your schedule..look at the age of your child..look at your obligations/requirements to your employer. It can be done in some situations...others it cannot. Be realistic...be fair to your child's needs when considering this as well as yours and those of your employer..it's a whole big picture to consider. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do :)

Trying times
I am in the dead center of Mississippi and after I got of church I saw cars with tags from the costal countiescoming through town.    We are in the hills and will receive 75 mph gusts.  This is serious.  New Orleans is under mandatory evacuation.  People without cars are at the superdome.  The casinos locked up Thursday.  Traffic has been one-way on the highways since noon Friday. I-10 and I-49 to get off the coast.  There are no hotel rooms in the state as of Saturday night news 10 PM report, as far as Grenada, MS (that's about 250-300 miles from Biloxi/Gulfport area).  They were good about emailing each other about vacancies.   The President has mandated that MS/LA are under a state of emergency.  Katrina is headed straight to the Big Easy.  If Katrina does not change course, there is going to be unbelievable losses in the New Orleans area.  Let us share our thoughts of faith and reflection with the people in these low lying areas.
Old times?
I am 79 years old and teach my grandchildren that peep is bad and nasty word. I don't like coming to this board only to find your nasty words. Being 79 years old, I know more than you will ever know and I KNOW what peep means. You are just being down right gross and yuck!
times 3 or x3? Which is okay? nm

Thanks.
