seriously, you must admit there is some truth to what is said; there are many like that.

The truth will set you free and the truth is more low level income people w/o education or proper
skills to keep up their home or train their children live in trailer homes and low income housing. If that sets you off, maybe you should not visit these threads or read the posts regarding others viewpoints on trailer parks. They have zoning laws against them in many communities because they draw undesirable people are not particularly pleasing to the community as a whole, bringing property values down. If you have issues with this, seek out the government in various communities and have them change the laws. Fact is fact and you cannot dispute these facts.
The truth stings sometimes and I congratulate MTStars for having the kahoonas to post truth.
Tired of being lied to. I'm a big girl and can handle the truth. Why can't you?
Opened a can of worms, eh? Truth hurts, but it is TRUTH!

8 cpl is about the top out in the US MT industry. If you're making more consider yourself lucky because it just might be snatched away from you at any moment. For the 14 cent per liner, good for you! You went out and got your own accounts. Others should follow your example. As far as the "stupid" MT comment, keep in mind that she was not consistent and **often** had one excuse after another not to work, yet I could see her online and when I would ask her why she was online she would give VERY lame excuses.  Also, keep in mind that I also was the one who helped this gal out monetarily to begin with and she took advantage of my generosity.  Don't make me out to be the bad gal here just because I own a service.  The shoe could easily be on your foot.

So, NEWS FLASH, if you have an MT position that is paying more than 8 cpl, consider it a real blessing and pray that your job isn't outsourced offshore.

You don't have to believe, the truth is the truth. I, too, have seen with my own two eyes and ha

years experience as an MT.  I say misfortune because MTs with this much experience usually have gigantic egos and feel like they've "seen it all and done it all."  They simply don't make mistakes.  Not possible, no way.  This particular MT became irate with me.  She actually threw her 20+ years experience in my face and said "I've been doing this for over 20 years, I think I know what I'm doing!"  It was painfully obvious, she did not have a clue.  She'd been doing it wrong for 20 years and no one ever told her, so she thought she was right.

I had another MT with 10 years experience call me to scream at me and hung up on me when I tried to explain her errors to her.

The plain truth is, some people can't take criticism whether it be constructive or destructive.  They don't like to be wrong or be told their wrong.  Egos get in the way.  We are all guilty of letting our egos get in the way from time to time, but in this field, you need to be willing to admit you're wrong and you need to be able to accept criticism gracefully and give criticism diplomatically.

As an editor, I encourage MTs to let me know if they disagree with any corrections I've made.  I am happy to provide MTs with my reference materials and resources.  I am happy to admit when I am wrong and I am happy to say that I make mistakes too.  Just don't try to tell me that an MT with 16 years experience can't possibly be making terminology mistakes - she can and probably has in the past and will again in the future.

Okay-I admit it!!!
I to have been known to try and give advice based on what doctors have recommended to family members but by no means do I say "do this, do that"--I just say this is what some of the doctors I transcribe for have recommended.  I guess it is my nosy nature-I think that is one of the reasons I love MT.  I can be nosy without anybody really knowing-haha.  Actually, I dont call myself nosy (my husband does), I just tell him I am aware of my surroundings and there is nothing wrong with that.
I must admit...
My lawn IS looking "perkier" now! LOL. Maybe we'll get some of the "bluegrass" back from the "crabgrass"...
They do have a TON of ESL and admit it! nm
nm
But the pay is too low you have to admit
nm
Yep, they admit it.
z
I admit it, at least a pot or more. nm
nm
lol, just admit it already ;0
x
Unfortunately you admit you are not the
*best spellers or *and expert in grammer* and this is a big part of what MTing is all about. A great MT has an excellent or above average grasp on the English language, grammar and a knack with spelling/words. Perhaps this field is not for you.
I admit, I do not know a ton about these two, but - sm
can you, as a work around, copy them onto a word document and then copy them from word onto the new platform?  It is just a thought, like I said I do not know a ton about either, but I thought I would throw that out there.
I have to admit...
I'm not cranking out the lines like I usually would. I'm doing my one fussy account, but the other one I'm letting get a little behind. It's hard to work up the motivation to work when you aren't getting paid, you know?
I am glad to see this I have to admit
I was beginning to think I was the only one out there who thinks this company is just like all the rest, including pay, platform, accounts, etc. They switch me without asking me and I refuse to do the work. Not for that lousy pay!!
Altho I must admit...
Barbra actually did that duet with Celine, so perhaps even SHE likes Celine better! I can't win!
I'll admit this only because I'm

I actually have a little TV just to the right of my desk. I'm always at my desk it seems, so I have the TV on all day long. As hard as it is to admit, and like I said, I'll do it only because I'm anonymous, I have the "judge shows" on my TV all day long. I feel like admitting that I read the Enquirer or something, lol. I used to have Starting Over and then the ABC soaps on, but I needed a change of pace so I hang out with judges all day.  Right now, I'm working and watching Dancing with the Stars...and I'm usually sitting here working and watching Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, and other favorites.

admit what??? get off my back and look to yourself.
nm
LOL! We sure date ourselves when we admit we know
s
If I were you, I wouldn't admit to that.
Merry Christmas, dear.
I have to admit it. I had a good laugh.
nm
LOL ... have to admit I get a bit of evil satisfaction from that too. :-) nm

OK, if you'll admit to it. Are you a smoker? sm
................and if you quit, how did you do it?
i guess it's easier for you not to believe me than admit you are wrong.

i don't follow all your posts so i don't know if you like girlie men or not but in any case you are dead wrong about trolling and you can wrap your brain around that.  i have no reason to lie on an anonymous board to anonymous people.  on the other hand you have a reason to not believe me because your ego is involved.  too bad sometimes people can learn if they push their ego and need to be right at any cost aside.

ps:  you are 100% dead wrong on me trolling and i really don't think you understand the concept.  once you accept you aren't that smart, you can continue to learn grasshopper.

I must admit I would resort to something like that. Love my dogs and everyone else's but enough
enough. We have 2 dogs and neither are barkers. I think that is the first thing I teach them. They don't even bark to go outside, just sit by the door. We did have a German Shepard once who was a terrible barker, the neighbors called the police, etc. We bought one of those shock collars, put it on her when she was out and wow, what a difference. She only wore it during the day when she was out. We brought her in when we came home, the collar came off, and she stayed in during the night. Unfortunately for us, our neighbor, 2 doors away, worked midnights, so it bothered him. It didn't stop her completely but it sure helped the incessant barking. Of course, the neighbor didn't want to make any noise, period. I wouldn't recommend them for a small dog or older dog, though. As far as the hose goes, congratulations. My neighber has a dog who ambushed both my dogs, bit the older dog and terrorized the puppy, twice. The next time that dog was going to get the hose as I knew there would be a dogfight. The owner would have gotten it too, I have enough guts for that. Big brother golden retriever hates it when another dog comes by his little cocker spaniel brother. We resorted to a fence and now the dog doesn't even come in our yard. Darn, couldn't try the hose.
I have never heard anyone so outright admit to prejudice like that..sm
I used to live in Virginia. I am not prejudice, BUT what I experienced there taught me some differences. I noticed that quite a few black people DID have attitudes and were actually quite prejiduce themselves. I was very amazed at this. At one time, we had gone to a video store. All blacks running the store. Our family and another white family were there and they REFUSED to wait on this. Now, while I understand the issues of the PAST, I think it silly to blame THIS generation for what was done by ancestors in past generations. I ended up calling the district manager and the entire store was RESTAFFED from Manager DOWN. I also had a lot of black friends in Virginia. I think what it comes down to is no matter what race you are, you got some people who are ***holes and some not..black, white, asian, etc. You also have people who are prejiduce..blacks against whites, asians against black..it doesn't matter. Its very sad.
I hate to admit it, but ME TOO! That is the only TV show I watch.
Gotta keep basic cable so I can watch my one TV show per week.
JD was definitely a cocky one, but he was clearly the best performer, IMO. And I hate to admit that.
x
Yeah, I have to reluctantly admit that could be the case, but SM

I'd bet my last dime this is not something that's being dictated intraoperatively. The sentence IS bad to begin with and the whole thing could have been said so much more clearly, like: "...further bleeding would necessitate a hysterectomy" or "further bleeding would result in a hysterectomy"

Your point is taken though.

OK...I am secret Days fan. I would never admit it to my family.
She is right!  I would toss his rear out too.  I just hate that Chelsea.  What about Belle and Shawn??  Phillip is an idiot.  Will Mimi tell?? dun dundundunnnnn :)  If my husband or kids knew I watched soaps they would laugh me out of the house.  I would never live it down, but it is fun.  Now I started watching Passions too.  No wonder I can't seem to get anything done
Would love to help newbies, I was one myself (way too long ago to admit to)...
but set hours might be hard to do, I'd want to know that I would have at least 3-5 hours a day with a newbie in order to make it worthwhile. If she learns and works out - raises of course. I've been there too!
I don't think it is cruel to admit your remaining parent - sm
into a nursing home. Those that think its terrible are just concerned with appearances I think, that and guilt themselves if they ever thought about it. My mom put her mom in a nursing home after she could not care for herself. My grandma actually thrived there. They got her off all her medication and she was felt a lot better, even got engaged to get married again, but broke it off shortly before she died. We lived in PA and her mom in FL. My mom's (adopted) family thought she was such a terrible person for putting her "mom" in a nursing home. My mom's adopted parents did not treat her well at all, would never tell her much about the adoption when she eventually found out about it in the 1950s (smell of scandel somewhere, this was 1935) and my grandparents never really ever wanted children. Needless to say my mom has a less than ideal childhood but she took care and upheld her "responsibilities". Some people take in their parent(s) because they want to make sure the $$$ if there is any stays in the family (or goes to them). I know that is the wheel turning in my DHs brain about his parents, though he says they would never re-marry after the death of the other. His mom has told me she will not remarry, but you never know do you. I think he is wrong about his dad though, I think his dad would do the exact same thing my dad did, i.e. remarry within a year of the mom/wife passing and say bye-bye to any substantial inheritence on a re-marriage. In my case I will "lose" (my husband's thinking) out on about $140K which my husband deeply resents unfortunately. It has caused a lot of distention in the last 2 years between me and my DH that is. I am cool with my dad, it's his life and money; and I have pointed out to him a zillion times that inheritence is a gift, not a right. But yes, to be honest it is disappointing, but as my DH expects to get close to $1 mil from his parents I think we will survive (in a way I hope they disinherit him). Greed can cause all sorts of problems. Along with responsibility comes motive in some cases. I do not want to take in either of my DHs parents, but his fear/greed will induce him to have whichever one is left move in with us probably in the next 5-10 years (they are 76 and 71 right now). Sad.
There's no way I'd even admit paying someone 2 cpl. I'd be moving out of your office too!l
2 cpl?? You should be ashamed. If your newbie even typed 250 lines an hour, which many seasoned MTs don't consistently do, that's only $5 an hour, not even minimum wage! These people just spent thousands to go to school! How do you sleep at night?

I have many MT friends, newbies and veterans and I have NEVER in my life ever heard of such a pathetic wage, if you can even call it that. In fact, two of my MT friends were hired by a hospital at $11.00.

I know a lady who has her own company that hires new grads at 9 cpl! She said she knows in 2 wks whether or not they have what it takes.

Maybe you should outsource to India because slavery ended in this country almost 2 centuries ago.
I will admit slim pickings, but boy, you sound angry.
zz
I agree with her 100%. sounds like you dont want to admit QA needs to fix things
No one is saying you are a bad QA person, just that she is getting conflicting results and it should be one standard, not 2 or even 3.

No one is bashing anyone. You are bashing yourself by saying you stink. I have been in this position before and went straight to the QA person and talked about it. They explained to me that sometimes its a preference of style.
And will you admit there are plenty of wannabe service owners also?
nn
His/her posts are annoying to you, becasue he/she knows more than you and beats you, admit it....nm
nm
QA means knowledgeable, not infallible or perfect -- As a new QA'er, I will be the first to admit
have things to learn, even though I've been doing MT for a long time.
Kind of ashamed to admit I threw daughter's card away
I know some will call me petty. We haven't ever had the best relationship because she has been a difficult kid since grade school. Just really, really hard to deal with and nasty much of the time. I keep trying and trying and trying and trying. I help her out financially when I can, watch the baby every day while I'm trying to work, too.  I had tears picking out a card for her, and I put some money in there with a little note to treat herself. Yes, I took the money out and tossed the card. I know it sounds harsh, but I feel like I keep putting forth the effort and barely get a thank you in return. Instead, I get a "what's your problem?" Now my son..I can deal with. At least he treats me with some kindness and he tries.
I hate to admit this, but the one good thing I learned Focus Infomatics
was the Escription platform. Trust me, that is the only good to come of it. I think even if you get a few months under your belt, you'd be better off for it.
Ain't it the truth!!

This is just too much fun!

Yes, that's the truth.... Think about this...
When you play by the rules, work hard, and pay your own way, you are penalized.  When you have 4 kids by age 20, never marry, never finish school, and sit on your butt with an occasional ambulation to the mail box for a free check, you get priority over everyone else.  Our society REWARDS poor choices an penalizes those who try to play by the rules and do things in the right order.
Isn't that the truth
If you don't give your name, who is going to talk to you in the first place.

Anyone have connections with a nurses UNION who might be interested in taking us on!!!
That is the truth
I know first hand because I was on it, and off it and went what was left for me to do on my account was so bad, I went back on it again. I wanted off again when the letter came out and I was told remember what happened when you went off it the last time, your primary account is worse now, more doctors have been added to the ASR.
The truth is....
We've only been doing modern measurements of temperature and weather for a little over 100 years.  If the arrival of Man on earth is only the last few seconds of a 24-hour period of time of the earth's history (figuratively speaking), then 100 years of measuring weather and temperature is nothing more than a nanosecond, if that.  And if you do some research there are prior periods of very active hurricaine seasons in the 50s and 60s, and even prior to that.  The Atlantic was very quiet from 1970 to 1993 and then a new cycle has begun, reverting back to the pattern of the 50s and 60s.  As I said before, the Earth is an ever changing dynamic place where weird things happen, and there isn't always a reason that we can explain or influence.
More truth
Will global warming increase the frequency or intensity of hurricanes in the future?

Just about everyone is now aware of climate change, so when an extreme weather event occurs, it is not unusual for people to ask if it is the result of global warming. Because of the link between higher ocean temperatures and hurricanes, there is speculation that hurricanes will increase in frequency or intensity in a warmer world, with higher wind speeds and greater precipitation. As stated above, the frequency of hurricanes has not increased on average over the long term. However, scientists believe that global warming will result in more intense hurricanes, as increasing sea surface temperatures provide energy for storm intensification. An MIT study published recently in Nature provides the first data analysis indicating that tropical storms are indeed becoming more powerful over time.

Higher ocean temperatures may also influence the tracks of hurricanes, increasing the likelihood of hurricanes tracking through the Caribbean or making landfall on the U.S. east coast. Although his phenomenon is not very well understood, a track of unusually deep and warm water appears to have led Katrina directly to the Gulf Coast when it struck Louisiana and Mississippi.

Was the 2004 hurricane season more active than normal?

The National Hurricane Center predicted that the 2004 Atlantic hurricane season would see above normal tropical storm activity, with 12-15 named storms, 7 reaching hurricane strength. This prediction was close but conservative, as there were 15 named storms and 9 hurricanes. The National Hurricane Center described this number of events as “well above-normal activity.”

The number of hurricanes making landfall in the U.S. (four: Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne) was also above normal. Monetary damages from these events exceeded $40 billion and were concentrated in Florida, which had never before experienced more than three hurricanes in a single season.

How does the 2005 hurricane season compare so far?

The National Hurricane Center has predicted significantly greater activity for 2005, with 18-21 tropical storms and 9-11 hurricanes projected, 5-7 of which are expected to reach category 3 or greater. So far the season is exceeding expectations; as of September 15, the following activity had occurred:

· 15 named tropical storms
· 7 hurricanes
· 3 major hurricanes (Dennis, Emily, Katrina).
· The earliest date on record by which four named tropical storms formed (Arlene,
Bret, Cindy, Dennis formed before July 5)
· The earliest date on record by which 2 category 4 hurricanes occurred (Dennis
formed July 4-7; Emily formed July 10-16))
· The most destructive hurricane in U.S. history (Katrina)
· Almost half the season yet to come

The 2005 Atlantic hurricane season has the potential to be the most active season on record. Bookmark this page to get updated information as the season develops.

that's the truth and they get one sm
price to transcribe it and the editors fix it all up nice and pretty. Its a joke all the way around. I would quit and scrub toilets before I would edit any work from over there!
Let the truth be known......
Maybe it went overseas....just like the other companies who all of a sudden do not have work.  There was a post a few weeks ago that said they did.
Ain't that the truth!
None of them pay us what we're worth!
How about just because it's the truth?
If you're doing BUSINESS from home, BUSINESS rates are what you should pay?!

Gotta be able to run with the Big Dogs if you get off the porch!
The truth

Having been a court reporting student, I can tell you any online course would be a complete waste of your time. You definitely need a class to go to each and every day.

Court reporting is exceedingly hard to learn and takes a lot of time.  It takes great discipline to learn it and to build up your speed.  If you think you can take an online course to become a court reporter, you're only fooling yourself and throwing away good money.

And yes, job prospects are great for court reporters, and the pay is excellent, but  you have to be GOOD!
