Every time I tune into Faux News I hear
"there's nothing wrong with your TV set.  Do not attempt to adjust the picture.  We are now controlling the transmission."
On vacation and not watching the news, thanks. I don't spend all my time sm
watching politics so I guess I missed it.
The good news is
Now that O is changing the constitution to allow a foreign born like himself become the next president I think Arnold might have a good shot at it next election. Or is the O only going to change it to allow only himself be allowed to be president.
A bit of good news....(sm)

updated 1 hour, 34 minutes ago

TEHRAN, Iran - The lawyer for an Iranian-American student detained in Tehran said his client has been released on bail.

Mohammad Ali Dadkhah said Tuesday that Esha Momeni was released Monday evening on $200,000 bail.

The lawyer said the 28-year-old student at California State University planned to leave for the U.S. as soon as possible.

He said authorities had not imposed a travel ban on Momeni. But, he said, she could still go to trial on unspecified "security charges."

Momeni's father said he put up the deed to the family's Tehran apartment to cover the bail.

Momeni was detained on Oct. 15. Activists believe she was arrested for her involvement in a women's rights campaign.

Well that's good news
Glad you liked my rant. Man was I hot when I wrote it. I'm so sick of politics being an "aristocrat thing". How many good politicians go unnoticed and don't have a chance just because they don't have tons of money or a "name".
Where can I just get some good ol news

I'd like opinions of where you get your news, what stations do you find give an equal balance.  Please don't bash other stations because as for as many acronyms as I have heard about one news station, I've heard equal many about the others.

I don't watch Fox or MSNBC - those two are so blatanly biased.  I used to watch CNN until the Clinton's got in, then they became the Clinton News Network, never reporting the truth about the goings on of that administration.  Today I thought I'd go back to them to see if they calmed it down a bit with the love affair with the Clinton, but sure enough today I heard Wolf Blitzer say "Is the decade of Clinton bashing over".  I'm just flabbergasted and astounded at the complete ignorance of that station.  Ever since the Clinton's came into action the media has fallen over backwards with their love affair for them.  So, this morning I realized that all three stations, Fox, MSNBC, and CNN won't do it for me.

Where do you all get your news and why do you like it.

This would only be good news IF the.....
job market were progressing upward at the same rate; otherwise, these new houses will sit empty along with foreclosed ones. You don't think this information is manipulated to make you "feel" better about something - after listening to O talking about "crisis" for so many weeks in a row? This won't last, I assure you!
well then that's good news for us liberals!!!

Good news - 2 things
Item #1 is that Michelle Obama has strongly stated she does not want HC picked as VP. (Am sure she is thinking the same thing - she wants to see her husband live through his term).

Item #2 in a poll of 80% of 550 major political figures, 43% say Barack will be the next president, 38% John McCain & 19% HC.
Good news if you want to believe a liberal

Good for Fox News...they refused to run an ad against Obama...

put together by a private citizen (not the McCain campaign), the same guy who was behind the swift boat ads against Kerry.  They could have run it and they chose not to.  Good for them!  I admit, there is cause for concern about Obama's connection to Ayers, but that kind of ad where it is mean accusation and innuendo with no real proof shouldn't be run, in my opinion.  Good for them for stepping up.

Good Source for (more) objective news

North Korea: This is not good news

I was surfing a bit this morning and found this news article from N. Korea. I doubt things will cool off for a long time, if ever. The article headlines state: "Lee Myung-Bak's Group Military Provocations Blasted. From there, it calls him a puppet war monger and states how Myung-Bak outbursts "over the non-existant provocation (my emphasis) by the North."

Very good discussion of the political ramifications of the current governmental failure in this emergency - includes New York Times columnist David Brooks, a Republican with some rather surprisingly accurate statements.

This is good news. It is a reflection of public opinion of the..sm
republican party and how they are running the country. Hope this tide keeps on rolling.
Housing market on upswing - good news!

US housing starts rose sharply in February, providing some good news for the struggling housing industry. (Photo: AP)

Washington - New U.S. housing starts and permits unexpectedly rebounded in February, according to data on Tuesday that provided a rare dose of good news for the recession-hit economy and fractured housing market.

The Commerce Department said housing starts jumped 22.2 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 583,000 units from 477,000 units in January. That was the biggest percentage rise since January 1990 and also marked the first increase since last April.

"That is an encouraging sign for the U.S. economy. It is good signal of what is to come. With the rally in equities we hopefully have seen a bottom for the economy here," said Matt Esteve, foreign exchange trader at Tempus Consulting in Washington.

U.S. stocks have been on the rise over the last several days and the major indexes opened flat on Tuesday. U.S. government bond prices trimmed gains after the data and the U.S. dollar fell against the euro as risk aversion eased.

Good. I hadn't heard the news yet that he's finally
going up for trial. I've listened to all the stations but haven't heard it yet. It's about time. There's plenty that crowd needs to be held responsible for. However, this post was not about Bush is was about the messiah. How convenient for you to switch the subject.
Very good point!!! The world doesn't see any of that on the news! Thanks for posting that! nm

I have a hard time seeing a good ... sm

side to the Iraq war.  What are the successes?  I am only asking because I want what you think are the successes.  Not bashing your opinion, just curious.  Because, I see no success in the thousands and thousands of deaths of our military and the civilians.

I know I will get bashed about this but...  It just seems like we have enough going on in our own country that nobody is doing anything about.  We have wars here every day, many of us don't see it first hand because of where we live but go into any big city and you will realize it the wars kids have to avoid or fight just to stay alive.  I just wish Bush and Congress would pour more money into our fights and problems like they did in Iraq.  Maybe I am being selfish when I saw that I think our people should come first.

Good one....its really time to wake up
I hope entire world can learn a lesson from this video and think about their declining population.
I think it's high time and a good thing

that RINOs finally declare their true party and leave room in the Republican party for true Republicans.  And Specter has, in an uncharacteristic moment of honesty (or senility,) illustrated the fact that every politician considers his first duty to be getting re-elected.  I hope that Specter gets soundly unpantsed in the next primary - as a Democrat.  That would truly put the icing on the cake.

And about Specter, isn't it about time for this guy to retire?  He is a great example of the 'senator for life' syndrome.

The Republican party put forth a very poor presidential candidate in 2008.  Maybe they learned from that experience and will return to more a conservative party line.  So if a few RINOs jump ship here and there, I think that's excellent.

Well, I say good for him! 'Bout time somebody grew

Good post - good research (sm)
History does repeat itself at times. I had forgotten about the 50s and Russia.

Very scary times we live in and so many new enemies. This is definitely not a scare tactic but a very clear warning. You can't ignore facts, they are there.

Good point, good post. Thanks.

Do you get any news except at the DU? ????? NM

Believe it or not, I do keep up with the news.
I realize this is an old story, but it has a new twist to it because now Gary Bernsten is now giving the specifics surrounding it.
When the news first came out that he was..sm
hosting a fundraiser for her I thought it was weird, but now that you bring it up (and it's a good question) I did some research and it appears that old Ruppert has a history of switching his backing between parties. Some believe his main objective is monopoly in broadcasting, not party loyalty or belief in party ideals (aka Big Business 102).

Excerpt from wsws.org: 'When it comes to politics, Murdoch, known in media circles as the “dirty digger,” is equally adaptable in pursuing his personal gain. The most loyal right-wing Tory and friend of Margaret Thatcher during the 1980s, as he built up his media holdings in Britain, he switched his loyalties to “New Labour” when he saw that Tony Blair could provide a fresh face for even more reactionary politics and was more than willing to further Murdoch’s interests in return for editorial backing. He made similar swings in his native Australia between the Labor and Liberal parties to further his efforts at monopolizing the print and broadcast media.'
Actually, I saw it on ABC News....
the footage of Obama not putting hand over heart for pledge. In all fairness, that is the only footage I have seen of him not doing so....never was a recipient of whatever chain email you are speaking of. Believe it...yes, saw it with my own eyes. Why he did it, have no idea. There could be a multitude of reasons why he didn't do it. Here is the big BUT...it does make one a but curious when coupled with the fact that he dispensed with wearing of the flag pin on his lapel. I heard his explanation; I am just not sure I buy it. Each thing alone not such a big deal...together, it does make one wonder, so I can see why nanna might have reservations. It is good to question things and not take everything at face value...be the candidate Dem, Repub, Inde...whatever.
Fox news

A propanganda machine for repubs.  No one is obligated to appear on that network.  There are plenty of other media outlets. Fox's ratings are dropping and MSNC's are climbing.  Fox disguises these facts by including their entertainment ratings in with their "news" ratings.  As far as ALL OTHER MEDIA being liberal, that is a transparent technique to keep viewers from getting opinions from ANY OTHER source than Fox.  I certainly wouldn't fall for that bunko.  I also notice that they concentrate on certain sites such as Media Matters and NY Times specifically because those sites are excellent at presenting the truth about distorted information disseminated by the propaganda machine. To each his own.

Where do you get your news?

Sorry, I'm conservative, but have to ask why you would go down that road when you can find those answers yourself.

Might I suggest worldnetdaily.com, townhall.com, drudgereport.com, breitbart.com, talk radio (and the hosts' web sites, including Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck, Savage, Levin, Michelle Malkin, Rush, etc.).  There are countless news stories that never make the mainstream media.

Another thing to consider is who a person keeps for company.  When questionable names keep coming up (Pflager, Rezko, Wright, Ayers, Dohrn, etc.), that would concern me if I were considering any kind of relationship with someone, but that's just me.

Those who support Obama get their news from MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and so on.  Those networks alone have been proven repeatedly to be biased.  All the times that McCain went abroad, where were Couric, Gibson, and Williams?  Why would any American think that the Democrats, who are determined to reinstate Fairness Doctrine, think that it won't come back and bite them?  Why should any American be silenced just because one group disagrees with another?

Do you know what is posted on blogs like the DailyKos and HuffingtonPost?

Lastly, a couple more stats.  The #1 most liberal Senator is Obama.  Kennedy is #2, Biden is #3.  Even the moderate Democrats are distancing themselves from him.  This info is documented and not fiction.

That's rather left of left, I would say.

I'm already looking for my fire extinguisher, but the truth hurts sometimes.

You have more options now than anytime in history to gather information.  You can gather information from both sides of the issue and verify the facts and then make your own decision based on your personal values.

SP on ABC News
Just saw first installment of interview with SP with Charlie Gibson.  In my opinion, she really messed that up!  Experienced and ready to lead?  No way.  Danced around every question and flat out lied when asked what she said about Iraq War being a mission from God.  What's the worst thing about listening to her for the first time in her own words, she says NUCULAR!!!  Just like George Bush.  Oh no...not again.
SP on ABC News
She was so nervous, she had big red blotches on the side of her neck. He pressed on dancing around and not answering the questions he asked. She looked like a deer in the headlights to me.

This happened years ago, not yesterday. How come you are just hearing about it? Did you check your dates in snopes?
Maybe old news, but why does no one get it? sm
do you just want to ignore all the blatant truths about Obama being linked to terrorists and cling to hope that he is not REALLY a terrorist and hope that he really will do what he says? So just blindly accept him at his word and ignore all the indications that tell us otherwise. Do you not see any huge red flags waving in front of your eyes??

Fox News
Plenty has been said about Sarah Palin's appearance, from her designer glasses to her striking similarity to actress Tina Fey.

But lately her stylish look has come at a price -- more than $150,000 of which was paid for by the Republican National Committee -- according to a report Tuesday by Politico.

The Web site cited financial disclosure records that suggest the wardrobe makeover began in September and included bills from Sak's Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York totaling nearly $50,000.

The documents also show a $75,000 shopping trip at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis in September, as well as about $4,700 spent on hair and makeup, Politico reported. Documents don't show similar costs in August.

Good Evening,

1.  On Sunday night at 9 on Fox News, Hannity's America will run "The Ten Reasons Why Barack Obama Should Not Be President."  Please spread the word.

2.  The article that follows is about Sarah Palin and the elites (both Democrat and Republican).  It is well worth the read:

And this is news how?????
HA HA HA HA HA. I never trusted her. I just hope I see as less of Dillary than I do of Condi.
It's news because...(sm)

Israel is getting ready to invade Gaza and is already in the process of bombing raids.  Meanwhile the current US administration (aka Bush/Condi/Cheney/etc) is perpetuating the lies about Gaza, such as who is the real terrorist, ignoring a legitimate democratically elected council, etc.  The OP explains all this.  Bottom line is that the US is giving Israel a green light, which to some of us (as well as a large portion of the world) is condoning genocide.

And Americans wonder why the rest of the world has such a bad opinion of us.
