Can we stop the bickering for a few moments and say a sincere prayer...

for those on our gulf coast, and for all the emergency workers down there to help?  They are more important than anything we are saying here right now!

At least YOU could stop for a while and say a prayer!
McCain did!
and the bickering goes on and on and on, until when? Till 2012?
Good night !
We all have those moments
No harm, no foul.  Have a good day.
Not bickering. Holding feet to fire. Like GP...
and I agreed to. Have a good night!
Petty bickering about stuff from 16 years ago
Pardon the pun here, but we have bigger fish to fry....much bigger fish. Rahm has all the qualities that a chief of staff needs and if you don't like his personality, oh well. What is obvious here is that you are making judgments WAY too prematurely. One person does not a trend make. The undertones of your post are juvenile and you sound like a smart alek. If you rarely read or post on this board, then why don't you just drive on by and keep on going? We could probably get along just fine without your input.

It is my sincere wish that
under Bush will be gone forever, never to return. Me and about 65,431,955 fellow citizens.
With all due respect, and I am sincere in that....
how can you learn new things if you only talk to people who agree with everything you say? I come here to the liberal board for that very reason...if I wanted someone to rubber stamp my ideas I would be talking to people I knew would do that. That is not how you learn. Debate forces you to go to different sources, listen to differing views, and help you make informed decisions. I am not a rote party person. That is why I am not a registered Republican. I registered Independent only because you have to register as one of the three to be able to vote. I have voted for Democrats before (though I admit, not often). I admire Joe Lieberman tremendously and I hate that the Dem party is so far left they forced him to run as an Independent this time. I thought that was very short-sighted on their part. Because there are Democrats out there in small-town America who have not taken the same hard left turn that the Dem base seems to have taken. If I were a Georgian, I would have voted for Zell Miller in a heartbeat. Not because of his political affiliation, but because of his views, and because of he had the guts to stand up for those views when the hard left sought to highjack his party. My parents were lifelong Democrats. Sadly they are not longer with us, but I am telling you my friend, they would NOT recognize the Democratic party of today. They would be horrified at the hard left turn it has taken. Much of the Republican party has abandoned their core platform as well. Most of those running are not true conservatives. What I want is less government interference in the lives of individuals, more power at the state level where it belongs according to the constitution, the Supreme Court to keep their noses out of state's business and not legislate from the bench...encourage individual responsibility again instead of everyone looking to the government to supply every social need. The more we move toward that, the more we move toward socialism...and that is the agenda of the hard left in this country today. And friend, it does not work. Look at Venezuela. Look at Cuba. Hitler's Germany, Mussolini's Italy...both started as socialism and ended in dictatorship. That is where socialism inevitably goes...when you take power away from individual states and give to the federal government, and make the entire populace depend upon the government to supply everything. Believe me...that is NOT where any of us should want to go.

Thanks for listening.
they were as sincere as most politicians are ever - not
I have a very jaded view of our political system .. sorry

everything is calculated
everything is conniving
every move is planned and orchestrated by the "back room"

I've seen it ..

The Clintons did what they had to do to stay in the "power" positions in the Democratic party ... simple as that..

sorry ... JMHO

I do believe she is sincere in caring about...
the people she is sworn to represent...and she has done a great job in Alaska. With her at least we have a CHANCE of not being sold down the river...the other ticket has a history of doing just that, in their ever increasing quest to shuffle gimmes to the so-called lower class to keep them their voting base. This whole mess was the Democrats, through fannie/freddie, pressuring banks to give those high risk subprime loans to people who could not afford them, people who had little credit or no credit...and where did that leave us in the middle class who had to qualify for loans the old-fashioned way and actually paid our mortgages while they let theirs default and here we are. With all that out there, you want to make fun of the VP candidate on the other ticket? Is that supposed to illustrate how astute you are? It is a valid question.
I heard that earlier. I believe he is sincere...
it is a historic thing that will happen and I think acknowledging it is the right thing to do. Good for McCain.
Sincere apologies, wrong board. NM
...
Yes, sincere apologies, wrong board. So what? NM

Very sincere here, I know the country is in deep trouble with the ......sm
constantly-growing unemployment lines, the banking crisis, stock market debacle, fall-out of our gross national product, growing mortgage crises, etc., but as much as I support our President and feels that he has the initiative, the drive, the intelligence, altruism, the humanitarianism, etc., to get this country turned around (and boy do we need a total 180 degree here), I really feel it is being pushed way too aggressively and hastily,.....haste makes more waste, and boy we do not need more of THAT.  I see many good ideas in the O plan,  and we certainly need a change in the banking laws, corporate tax structure, etc., but I have been reading as much as I can, and I have to agree with the moderate Republicans (is the sky falling yet?), there is a lot of JUNK in the Obama Solution that is really just contributing more to our national debt, and will not do anything substantial for the common folk, which is supposedly what this whole Bill is about.  There is suffering and people are desperate, but if we pass the wrong plan, we will be living with even more misery and debt that our great-grandchildren will not even be able to pay off.  Good solid social programs, yes, educational programs, yes, work programs, yes, help with our medical system, yes, but man, there are so many pet projects in their it looks like a lobbyist's dream.  Slow down a bit, think a lot more, and perhaps we can really trim that "baby" into a truly successful plan!!  Okay, off the , call me SCARED and confused, yes democrats have open minds and limits to spending!
My prayer is for God to have his will in
the lady's life and to prepare her heart to receive him if as her Savior if she has done so. As for her grandson, my prayer is as usual, for God to change his heart and let him know what is right in God's sight and to seek God's guidance in his every decision.
He sure needs prayer because anyone who
is for abortion and anyone who is for gay marriage, well, basically not of God.  He is an eloquent speaker alright.
I will not stop trying to stop the slaughter of the unborn in this country...
I never said you were a stupid wretch. What I said was, if you can watch that video below and not feel something, your heart must be seared over. If you can watch that video and advocate what you advocate, yes, I'm sorry, I find that cold. I am entitled to my opinion and all your ranting and name calling and belitting is not going to change that. Someone needs to speak for the child. You certainly aren't allowing it any rights, including the right to live. You are okay with that, I'm not.
Prayer is good and thanks...however..sm
I don't see where the article you posted about Ricky Rector is an adequate comparison to the Karen Tucker case where she claimed to have found God and was mocked.

There is also a difference between a mentally challenged person committing a crime and ending up on death row and a person of sane mind committing a crime and injuring his brain in a suicide attempt AFTER THE CRIME (not screaming just trying to get that point across). When he committed the crime, he was not mentally ill.
I agree and second that prayer ....(nm)

Prayer vigil for our nation
I posted this on the Faith board but I also wanted to post it here just in case...

The North American Mission Board has started a prayer vigil for our nation before the election. If you want to participate there is a sign up and prayer guide at

http://ilivevalues.com/prayer

It's 40 days of prayer and then 40 hours of prayer at the end. Check it out! I think it will really do some good and if God's people work together and call out to Him together to heal our nation, He said He would hear us and do so!

Have a great day!

God Bless!

p.s. this wasn't meant to start a riot or to have a bunch of people who don't believe in prayer or God to get up in arms, it's just for those who would like to participate, so please don't go there. Thanks!

Prayer and reading the Bible
I agree with you and if every person who calls on the name of the Lord Jehovah who sent His Son Jesus (Yeshua) votes for McCain, I believe this nation will stay a free country.  We just need to continue to read the Bible and prayer fervently to the the Lord Jesus and perhaps He will heal our land.
I am praying for Obama too. I join you in prayer. nm

Fierce Prayer for Brstol Palin (Manning)

Manning's Fierce Prayer for Bristol Palin

Either side can fail to deliver on promises. My only hope and prayer is that
I'm honestly not 100% sure either one of these candidates can do it so where do people like me fit into the picture? I'm not even sure I will be able to vote for either one, and that's based on my personal values. I don't feel Barack is the man, like many seem to, but I don't feel McCain is, either. I know I'm not alone. I don't believe socialized insurance is the answer, I believe in going after insurance companies that dictate what patients can have done and set premiums too high for people to afford and pharmaceutical companies that pay people off to push their drugs, whether it be doctors, groups, etc. I'd like to see all with tax cuts, not just big companies. Wonderful if they get a break for keeping jobs in the US, but that should be just one of many tax cuts for all, starting with taxes paid at the pump. What about public education? We pay fees and still have to buy extra books and other supplies for our kids' education, yet many children are less educated now out of public high school than ever before because they are too focused on the proficiency tests to actually teach a well-rounded fund of knowledge, so what are the proposals to fix that mess?

No matter who gets elected, they've got quite a job on their hands, and I sincerely doubt either will be able to live up to their promises. And no, I don't necessarily blame Bush for all the problems in this country, but rather I blame all presidents and congress, past and present. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being for the people, that's for sure, and more for their pocketbooks (both Dems AND Repubs). Since so many seem to see Barack as the second coming, I certainly pray that you are right, but I really doubt it. He's had zero experience so who is to say he won't buckle under the load once he realizes what he's gotten into? And McCain isn't my idea of perfection, either, so don't reply by bashing Republicans. I want to hear facts that aren't based on party views but honest-to-goodness facts on who has the best plan in line for these things. And how do you know who is being sincere and who is just making empty campaign promises?
A bipartisan prayer request viewed as provoking hate.
by taking this kind of position and posting these kinds or rants.

Hate-generating slurs don't blink an eye, even with Obama's last living elder relative on her death bed. Such class. And this would capture votes how?
Gene Robinson: Gay Bishop Giving Obama Inauguration Prayer

Well, even though that Saddleback jerks is there too...

from the Huffington Post 1/12/09

New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, a vocal gay rights leader, will open President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration with a prayer on Sunday's kick-off event at the Lincoln Memorial.

"I am writing to tell you that President-Elect Obama and the Inaugural Committee have invited me to give the invocation at the opening event of the Inaugural Week activities, We are One, to be held at the Lincoln Memorial," Robinson wrote in an email to friends.

The announcement comes after weeks of outcry from the gay community over Obama's choice of evangelical, anti-gay pastor Rick Warren to deliver the inaugural invocation.

"It's important for any minority to see themselves represented in some way," Robinson said in an interview with the Concord Monitor. "Whether it be a racial minority, an ethnic minority or, in our case, a sexual minority. Just seeing someone like you up front matters."

Robinson is the first openly gay diocesan bishop in the Anglican Communion. "God never gets it wrong. The church often takes a long time to get it right. It is a human institution, but one capable of self-correction," Robinson told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "I believe in my heart that the church got it wrong about homosexuality. There is great excitement in my heart to be living in a time when the church is starting to get it right."

Robinson said he would love to sit down with Rick Warren but believed that the California pastor has "perpetrated lies about the gay, lesbian and bisexual community."

You poor thing. I'll say an extra prayer for the demons to leave your heart.

Big hug.

So when the terrorists come, you'll just say STOP or I'll say STOP again? nm

Please stop it. I know what you are doing. sm
You really are pretty transparent.   gt said she did not know any socialist Jews.  Please just post my reply and not her post because that makes it look especially bad on me.  Very transparent.  I was pointing out that of course, there are socialist Jews.   The rest of your argument, if you have one, is moot, as you are making absolutely no sense whatsoever!  Unless baiting people is something you enjoy, which I can see is true.
It won't stop.
He will continue to violate the Constitution because he is arrogant and has no respect for the law.  And I agree that what Clinton did pales a lot in comparison to the ongoing arrogant lies and legal violations of Bush.  I hope someday enough people wake up in this country and stop him before he can do any more damage to this country and to the world.  :-(
She will stop at nothing
What she is trying to do is "buy" the office. What I don't get is there are so many good women who should run. I can think of at least 20 of them I'd vote for if they were running for President, but Where are all of them? Why is that thing in there. I wish she would crawl back in the hole she crawled out of. She is nothing but a power hungry pathologic liar who is a socialist (that is a plain and simple fact, she's just good at covering it up). Everyone knows what she was like as first lady - why anyone would want that thing in there again is beyond me.

I'm all for a woman president - just not THAT woman.

If the dems have any chance of winning the white house back she is not it. I'm reading tons of posts on different sites saying that if she beats Obama, no matter how much they hate McCain they will vote for him just so she won't get in. I hope the dems wake up.
Stop. sm
First of all the c story that he called his wife is a made up lie.  It makes for a nice story though.  His daughters are crazy about him.  Why do you say such things? If you don't like him, fine, but let's stick to the facts. I don't like him either, but I have a lot of reasons that are real and not gossip.
just stop it!
nm
WTH!!! Stop doing that!!!

Shelley this is not me doing this.  Someone is just being stupid.  I'm sick and tired of other people trying to post like it is me and it isn't.

FYI.....Chele is just pronounced like shell.  No Shelly.

will it ever stop?
first the bailout, now Calfornia wants a personal bailout......how much more money will have to be dished out.  I truly wish that the culprits who pocketed money and ran wall street into the ground would be investigated and held accountable.  We all would still have to pay for their greed but it might make me feel a bit better if they actually had a consequence to all this instead of walking away with a buttload of money while we foot the bill.
oh stop it - NM

Let's Stop.
The election is over. The results are in. Whether you are pleased or displeased with the results, it is time to show some class. Gloating is not attractive or very mature either nor is continuing to bemoan all of the dire predictions. I Both Senators Obama and McCain have said it is time for Americans to come together, to work together. How about starting here and now. McCain offered a very gracious speech. Can't we follow that fine example no matter what our personal feelings might be? Let us all behave with some class. We need to deal with the government we have and put our efforts into making it work as best possible instead of childish gloating or incessant complaining. Let's put our considerable energy and knowledge to a constructive purpose and just stop behaving so badly!
Where does it stop?....sm
I've refrained from posting about any of these so called bailouts, ever since they passed the 700 billion one, that all of a sudden, is not wrong and not going to be used for what they were going to use it for.

In the beginning, I was one of those who thought the sky would fall, if they didn't do the bailout on the financial institutions. But then they took the three page bill, and turned it into a bad dream, which got squelched...then it became a nightmare, and became larger...and was passed....and now...now.....

In between some of the auto companies got a bailout....now they want more.....now cities/states, and everyone wants a piece of this action...

arrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Let the gosh durn big three fold....let em go under and file for bankruptcy. This isn't about the three auto companies and a bailout for them.

It's a bailout for the union. And along the way, they will make all the other auto makers turn union....

And what scares me the most? The government now owns our financial institutes. If they do the auto bailout, they will own the auto industry.

Where will it end.................

Big and bigger government seems here to stay.............
You really need to think for yourself and stop
getting your words from your TV. Now, Scooter Libby, I really don't care for the man but our troubles with the middle east and everything else that we find ourselves in came about long before Bush. You need to go back several decades, while we constantly implant ourselves in middle eastern affairs and provide them with weapons to fight one against another, just to have them turned around and use those very weapons on us.

If you feel Bush is the reason for all our woes, then when we are attacked again, then we should blame Obama for that, right? After all, he's about the biggest Muslim butt kisser I've seen in a loooong time!
Just Stop!
Do you guys just run around the internet looking for stuff to copy/paste on here?  What is your point?  We all read articles and watch the news and have our sides.  Do you guys think you are going to change the world by pasting stuff on MTStars?  Total losers!   Go out and do something real if you want to change the world.  This isn't helping anyone.
Just Stop!
DITTO!!!  It's not bad enough it is all over the TV, we have to see it here too.  Plus, shouldn't that be on the political board?
Did you ever stop to consider

the many lives that were saved by taking out these people?  Or would you rather many more Americans be subjected to events like 9/11?  How many people did we lose in one day on 9/11?  Yet so many people want to cry and whine over how we should be nice to terrorists and treat them fairly.  They would sooner cut our heads off than be civil but OMG...don't torture them to get information that might save American's lives.  How horrible would that be?  I have no problem with covert operations taking out dangerous people.  In fact, it makes me feel safer knowing that these terrorists aren't going to hurt anyone anymore.

Our government under Obama is getting bigger and bigger and government is controlling more and more things and you are worried about Cheney giving orders to take out terrorists?  I tell ya what....I felt a heck of a lot safer back then than I do now.  The idea of government controlling what I do....is scary as heck and yet all you guys can focus on is how Bush and Cheney kept us safe after 9/11 but you turn it around to be a bad thing.  You people are friggin amazing, you know that?  What a load of crap.

Please stop...
with the "two people who love each other" baloney already. We're talking about 2 men who sodomize each other and 2 women who commit abnormal sexual acts together because they can't stand men. You don't have children or you wouldn't feel that way.
Will you PLEASE stop
Get a hobby - preferably one that gets you out of the house.
Did you ever stop to think...(sm)
that maybe the neighbors got tired of dodging the cars that were reportedly spilling out into the cul-de-sac where they lived?  I think the inconvenience this places on the neighbors should be viewed no differently than the inconvenience of having a teenage party next door EVERY week.
