the line between democrat and republican all along, so that would be more along with my thinking. I guess as far as what I would want to lose to get more to the center, I would have to say that I would want partial-birth or late term abortions to be illegal unless it was a threat to the mother's life. I would want unwanted babies who are born alive to have human rights to receive appropriate medical care. The other issue I have with O is his associations, but of course that has nothing to do with whether he is farther right or left, so I guess abortion is my only right/left issue.

Of all the unions, the teacher's union appears to be the strongest, allowing mediocre teachers to remain in their positions regardless of the obvious lack of effective teaching skills.

I did not say Obama was a Jew hater. Jesse Jackson said he was. I did not twist Barack Obama's arm and force him to go to a gathering for someone who hates Jews, be close personal friends with someone who hates Jews, and want to sit down and talk with no pre-requisites to a man who has called for the annhilation of Israel. He did that all on his own. Now common sense would tell you "if the winds turn ugly he would fall on the side of Muslims..." Look up THAT quote why don't you. As to what happened at the farewall dinner...I did read the transcript on the LA Times site. It does say that he praised and toasted the man. If that is all that is there, release the tape. Releasing the tape DOES NOT identify the source. That is an excuse. If it was the goods on McCain, every news outlet on the face of the planet would be hammering the LA Times for the tape. They sure didn't mind demanding that the source who outed Plame be revealed did they?

I decided to post this at the top since things get lost in the shuffle so quickly here.
Right now there are single, low income mothers (and fathers I would assume) who by the time they get the earned income credit and claim head of household do not owe taxes and actually get back more than they paid in to begin with. So why haven't you been carrying on about that all along? (And when people without children are contributing to this with their tax money, why isn't that considered socialism?)
I don't get all the chaos over this issue.
It is probably in a "community type center" in the

From this sinuous sprout, Santiago Calatrava's PATH terminal and transportation hub will emerge.

Don't laugh; it's a milestone day, said Charles A. Gargano, vice chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the trade center site and is building the $2.21 billion terminal over the next four years.
Until now, milestones at ground zero have tended to be ceremonial.
There was not a hint of ceremony yesterday. Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, were nowhere to be seen in the 70-foot-deep pit. The Freedom Tower cornerstone of July 4, 2004, sat hidden under a blue plywood box.
But anyone looking out from a PATH train screeching around the corner into the temporary World Trade Center station would have seen a crew from the Beaver Concrete Construction Company of Brooklyn.
They're finally doing something with this big hole, said Anthony Martelli, one of the workers, standing inside the newly completed trough. It's about time.
It was Mr. Martelli's first day back at ground zero since early 2002, after a six-month tour cleaning up debris and pulling out pieces of steel. Yesterday, he was building again - he and Paul Klein and Frank De Guida and Robert Manella and Tonino Sacino.
Starting at 7 a.m., they built a trough 18 inches high and 6 feet 3 inches wide out of thick wood planks. Cagelike frames of steel reinforcing bars, or rebar, will be set into the trough beginning today. Then concrete will be poured over the rebar.
That will form the footing of a seven-foot-high concrete retaining wall. The wall will hold about four feet of fill, on top of which ballast will be laid for a temporary PATH track, No. 6, alongside the future Platform D, the fourth and westernmost platform.
Currently, there are five tracks among three platforms, two of which occupy a corner of the south tower footprint, as they did in the original station. Platform D would take up more space in the south footprint and a tiny bit of the north footprint.
Once Platform D and Track No. 6 are usable, in early 2007, other tracks can be taken out of service temporarily to allow construction of the permanent terminal while commuters are traveling through the tubes to and from New Jersey.
The construction manager is a joint venture of Parsons Brinckerhoff, which counts the first New York City subway line among its earliest achievements, and the URS Corporation. A general contractor is to be chosen in the next few months.
Icanda was the contractor in 1966 when the first concrete was poured, at West and Cortlandt Streets. John M. Kyle, the chief engineer of the Port Authority, threw in a silver dollar, a 100-lire coin from Italy, a 5-franc coin from France and a British penny.
Asked about the absence of fanfare yesterday, Anthony R. Coscia, the chairman of the Port Authority, said: I think people have become so jaded by the inordinate amount of ceremonies that have occurred at that site - disproportionate to what's actually happened - that I didn't want to add to that. This is about actually building.
There is a potential snag, however. A lawsuit filed last month by the Coalition of 9/11 Families seeks to halt the project on the ground that it violates a federal law requiring that historic sites not be used for transportation projects unless there are no feasible or prudent alternatives.
Anthony Gardner, one of the plaintiffs, whose brother was killed on 9/11, said the authority had never justified the need for Platform D.
Our focus has always been to ensure the maximum preservation and access to the remains of the footprints for the American people and future visitors to the site, Mr. Gardner said yesterday.
The Port Authority and the Federal Transit Administration have yet to answer the complaint, he said. A spokesman for the authority said it would not discuss pending litigation.
But Steven Plate, deputy director of the priority capital programs department, did talk about the authority's sense of stewardship as he inspected the site, pointing out that the tower footprints had been covered by polyethylene liners and 12 inches of stone fill to protect them during construction. We're very committed, personally and professionally, to preserving the site, he said. Eighty-four of our own perished here.
I don't want to sound melodramatic, but there is no monopoly on caring for the site. This is the Port Authority's home.

He is always talking so much the Europeans and how we should be so much more like them, and like you said, it seems he wants to be the president of the UN... I don't disagree with a lot of what he says as far as helping others, etc., but I can't afford to pay more taxes! We are in that middle ground where we're not poor enough to pay no taxes or get any of the freebies, yet make just enough to pay so many taxes we can't afford to do anything other than pay our bills with what's left.
I'd love to help the homeless, the infirm, the disabled, but I simply can't afford to do much more than volunteer a little time now and then and put a few coins in a fundraising can, but if Mr. Obama gets his way, I'll have to take away from mine to give to them anyway.
I'm so sick and tired of seeing friends and acquaintances who have little or no job, get food stamps and free babysitters for ''respite'' time for themselves, get free medical and dental care and TAKE HUGE VACATIONS that I could scream!! I work full time plus and my husband is self-employed working 24/7 too and we can't afford to take a vacation. We can't afford to get sick or need medication. I need new glasses badly right now, but I simply can't afford it. There are people in our area who are on all the programs and go and get into fights in bars and get their glasses broken and go to the eye doctor the next day and just get new ones. I just don't think it's fair.
But I also think that that is the plan... get us all to start believing that our lives will be easier if we let the government take care of us (and it would be!), but once we're all on the dole, watch out... because then that's when the free things will stop and you'll be sorry.
I'm not saying I favor one candidate over an other right now, I'm still waiting for the debates. I'm not anxious to hear what they can ''do for me'' but rather what they are going to do to help me help myself. I've run out of ways to make my money go any further. We don't live fancy, never have. We don't go out but maybe once or twice a year to dinner, never to a movie or club. Our home is old and plain and almost paid for and we have no other debt. We have worked very hard over the last 28 years to get to where we are today and I feel like the rug is being pulled out from under us. I just want to vote for whoever is not going to take away what I have worked so hard for.

Why HC & JM dropped it? - I have no idea. We do know that BO and HC had private meetings, so who knows what went on there. I'm sure she was told to drop it (by the people funding BO) and offered a high ranking position, but we will never really know. JM - probably dropped it because if he pushed it they would have found that he too was not of legal standing to run for the position. But he was so weak and in no way had any of the funding that BO did and therefore was totally destroyed by BO. The party should have been smarter and picked somebody better, but then again GW's presidency (even though decisions are controlled by congress and the COB and the President is only a talking head) was such a failure I don't think any decent republican even had a chance at winning.
The media dropped it plain and simple. The MM is an organized propaganda tool. (Do you wonder why they don't report on 80% of the top stories going on). Maybe once or twice over the holiday weekend did they report on the situation in India. Even then it was given only a few moments. Then they had to go back to reporting about the Hollywood crowd and prisons in America, etc. Also, this is a very hot topic, and people who have been trying to get to the bottom of the issue have been met with death threats and have had to change their name. One guy even found a dead rabbit hanging on his porch and his auto destroyed with a warning to stop his investigation. Therefore, with all the violent tempers, this is one story no media is going to touch. That's why we have to hear (read) about it on the internet.
As for people posting articles. As with any of these sites here if people think an article is worthwhile to post they should be able to post. If it's just someone ranting on an on and giving nonsense opinions that's one thing, but these articles are written by journalist, lawyers, and people who have been following issues closely. When people post articles about food shortages, or Canada going crazy in their elections, or mad cow disease or any of other numerous articles not related to BO, they are never met with the same response of "your article is not credible". It is only when an article is posted of what's happening with Barky that people will say its not credible and then cite a pro-Obama site.
Posting an article we want to has nothing to do with proving we are MTs or not being allowed to post to this forum. It is an article we find of interest. If some don't like it, then read it and as they say "move on", but to come back and say that the articles are not credible sources but theirs are, well that's were it just gets too silly.

The economic summit was held behind closed doors. The politicians on both sides are probably gleefully aware that the American people are so busy blaming Democrats/Republicans they can't take time to see what is really going on. BOTH parties are to blame. I expect Bush made a deal behind closed doors and he'll pass it off to Obama who will continue. My opinion is we are no longer a free nation, we just haven't been informed of the new rules yet. He who has the gold rules and the foreign nations certainly have the gold. I don't personally expect Obama to make any great change, I just hope he will change some things that he can which might actually benefit the middle class but I honestly doubt it. WE, the "sheeple" have let this great country get in this condition and WE are going to have to fix it...if it isn't too late. I expect our forefathers are turning in their graves because of how we've squandered the freedom they fought and died to give us.

President George W. Bush's job approval rating has fallen to a new low of 39 percent in an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released on Wednesday.
Bush's approval rating dipped in the poll below a mid-September ranking of 40 percent. The survey also found only 28 percent of respondents believed the country was headed in the right direction, NBC reported.
Bush's political challenges have been piling up in recent weeks, from criticism over his handling of Hurricane Katrina, to growing unease over rising gas prices to conservative discord over the nomination of Harriet Miers to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Many conservatives are outraged that Bush picked the White House insider with no judicial experience instead of a judge with clear-cut conservative credentials who could be counted on to move the high court firmly to the right.
Twenty-nine percent of people surveyed said Miers was qualified to serve on the highest court in the United States, while 24 percent thought she was not qualified and 46 percent said they did not know enough about her, NBC said.
The poll also found that strong majorities did not believe that recent charges against former House Republican leader Tom DeLay of Texas or a federal investigation of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, were politically motivated, NBC said.
DeLay has been indicted in Texas on money-laundering and conspiracy charges linked to campaign financing. Frist is being investigated over a stock sale.
With the 2006 congressional elections a year away, 48 percent of respondents said they preferred a Democratic-controlled Congress, compared with 39 percent who said they preferred Republican leadership, NBC said.
The 9-point difference was the largest margin between the parties in the 11 years the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll had been tracking the question, NBC said.
The poll of 807 adults was conducted from Saturday to Monday and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points

Immigration is not the problem; invasion is, lawbreakers are a problem. We just had a pastor on TV in Houston who has had 5 wrecks, all caused by uninsured motorists and that is the least of it. I personally have seen what is happening to our ER's, unfortunately, the media says little about it. I understand 87 hospitals in southern California have folded. No private hospital can withstand the onslaught of all this clinic business. But, of course, the actual clinics designed for this are only open during regular business hours. Well, just a few thoughts of mine.

Where is the mention of all the illegals that come here with drugs, and murder and rape our people?! Did I mention the pedophiles?! Just watch the news and it's all over the place! Just yesterday, they were talking about an illegal from Mexico in SanFrancisco that killed a father and his 2 boys, over a traffic incident!!!??? He was part of a gang! Even the people that are coming here "for a better life", I can understand that. What I don't understand is them coming here and getting FREE medical, FREE housing, etc. etc. etc.... Why the hell are THEY entitled, but we, as natural-born citizens are not, because we may "make too much money?!" My dad is 62 years old, and probably will work till the day he dies, because he isn't "entitled" to any of this, he doesn't have savings or 401K to fall back on. My husband busts his butt, and pays a LOT of $ every month so that we all have medical, why? so they can come here and drop a kid for free, at the expense of OUR tax dollars?! BS!!! simple view of politics. I would think that if a bad bill is being put on the table, that enough politicians will see that it is bad and will vote against it, i.e. the bailout bill.

They'll be crying about their bottom line profit which they will pass down to consumers and they'll lay everyone off so they can send the jobs overseas. No guess about it. Then they'll cry some more when no one has any money to buy their overpriced stuff.

We had several Cubans come over here back in the late 60's, all close friends, one a doctor who warned all of us then where medicine was going and he was right on the money. They fled Cuba for their lives at the time. I am watching my country unravel and there is not a dang thing I can do about it outside of this one vote.

because SS is in such pitiful shape now, this will take the place of it for those of us still working...while we continue to pay for those who are on social security NOW (with our payroll taxes) because in a congress in times past Democrats decided to "borrow" from social security and never paid it back. Liberal socialist ideas NEVER work. And people keep voting them in anyway and blaming it on Republicans. LOL. Like mice on a treadmill. Sigh.

keep the 10 Commandments in church too. Then we could just go around raping, killing, stealing, lying, whatever we felt like doing. I believe 76 some odd percent of the U.S. describes their religion as Christianity. We let Madeline O'Hair or whatever her name is take away prayer in schools, etc. etc. I am sick to death of this p.c. stuff. If someone wants to be an atheist or muslim or what the heckfire ever, let 'em be. If they don't want to participate with the MAJORITY then I don't know of any law that makes them.

just like the rest of the sheeple, they have been duped into believing this man will turn the economy around with his smoke-and-mirrors approach to healing the financial condition of this country, which in turn benefits them as the money is redistributed back up to the top. Who do you think will ultimately benefit from Obmama's plan. That's right..the rich...as the lower and middle class have more disposable income, the money will trickle right back up to the top.

Well, I guess you don't but
at least if you see it alive you know if it is sick. I posted earlier about chickens. I promise you if you ever saw the LIVE chickens loaded in the crates on the truck headed for the slaughter house you would NEVER EVER eat another chicken And that's a pretty site compared to the inside of a 500 foot chicken house where hundreds of chickens are raised never seeing the sunlight and standing toe to toe in their own excrement. Well.....get the picture? But by the time they get to the grocery store all neatly packaged...........want me to tell you where they get the cut up chickens, breasts, thighs, legs, wings? No? I didn't think so.
