I received this in email this morning. I couldn't find it posted here already, so:

Check this out.........and be sure to read it to the very end.

Three former Fannie Mae executives

Here is a quick look into 3 former Fannie Mae executives who have brought down Wall Street.

Franklin Raines was a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Fannie Mae.  Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Mae when auditing discovered severe irregulaties in Fannie Mae's accounting activities. At the time of his departure The Wall Street Journal noted, ' Raines, who long defended the company's accounting despite mounting evidence that it wasn't proper, issued a statement late Tuesday conceding that 'mistakes were made' and saying he would assume responsibility as he had earlier promised. News reports indicate the company was under growing pressure from regulators to  shake up its management in the wake of findings that the company's books ran afoul of generally accepted accounting principles for four years.'  Fannie Mae had to reduce its surplus by $9 billion.

Raines left with a 'golden parachute valued at $240 Million in benefits. The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear.
http://housingdoom.com/2006/12/18/fannie-charges/ .
The Government noted, 'The 101 charges reveal how the individuals  improperly manipulated earnings to maximize their bonuses, while knowingly neglecting accounting systems and internal controls, misapplying over twenty accounting principles and misleading the regulator and the public. The Notice explains how they submitted six years of misleading and inaccurate accounting statements and inaccurate capital reports that enabled them to grow Fannie Mae in an unsafe and unsound manner.'  These charges were made in 2006.
The Court ordered Raines to return $50 Million Dollars he received in bonuses based on the miss-stated Fannie Mae profits.

Tim Howard -  Was the Chief Financial Officer of Fannie Mae. Howard 'was a strong internal proponent of using accounting strategies that would ensure a 'stable pattern of earnings' at Fannie. In everyday English - he was cooking the books.  The Government Investigation determined that, 'Chief Financial Officer, Tim Howard, failed to provide adequate oversight to key control and reporting functions within Fannie Mae,'

On June 16, 2006, Rep. Richard Baker, R-La., asked the Justice Department to investigate his allegations that two former Fannie Mae  executives lied to Congress in October 2004 when they denied manipulating the mortgage-finance giant's income statement to achieve management pay bonuses. Investigations  by federal regulators and the company's board of directors since concluded that management did manipulate 1998 earnings to trigger bonuses.
Raines and Howard resigned under pressure in late 2004.

Howard's Golden Parachute was estimated at $20 Million!

Jim Johnson -  A former executive at Lehman Brothers and who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO.
A look at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's May 2006 report on mismanagement and corruption inside Fannie Mae, and you'll see some interesting things about Johnson. Investigators found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson's 1998 compensation from the public, reporting that it was between $6 million and $7 million when it fact it was $21 million.'  Johnson is currently under investigation for taking illegal loans from
Countrywide while serving as CEO of Fannie Mae.

Johnson's Golden Parachute was estimated at $28 Million.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

FRANKLIN RAINES? Raines works for the Obama Campaign as Chief Economic Advisor

TIM HOWARD?  Howard is also a Chief Economic Advisor to Obama

JIM JOHNSON?  Johnson hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama's Vice Presidential Search Committee

IF OBAMA PLANS ON CLEANING UP THE MESS - HIS ADVISORS HAVE  THE EXPERTISE - THEY MADE THE MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Would you trust the men who tore Wall Street down to build the New Wall Street?

McCain and Palin supporters
feel the Obama supporters are making a mistake.  However, we would not say that we deserve the downfall that will happen with Obama in office.  No one deserves that even if you are stupid enough to vote for him!
Why is it that McCain supporters include
Do you know how much credibility you lose each time you pass such trash along? I will not use my time citing passage after passage from the Quran to expose your ignorance. If you care anything at all about being taken seriously, you will take a little time to actually read the Quran, which is a Holy Book, before you trash it. When you do thi, you make Christians look really ugly.
McCain supporters - read this -
"I don't trust Obama," a woman said. "I have read about him. He's an Arab."

McCain shook his head in disagreement, and said:

"No, ma'am. He's a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with (him) on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign is all about."

He had drawn boos with his comment: "I have to tell you, he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."

If he can understand that they just have differences, why can't we all agree on that and quit all this name calling and hatred and just talk about the issues and what we can do about our part of the world no matter who gets elected?

Thank you for that list of McCain supporters
As we know, there are many, many more as well!
If us McCain supporters were voting
purely on good looks.......there would definitely be something wrong with us because McCain ain't pretty.  LOL!  He has yellow teeth, that swollen cheek, and he can't move his arms.  So obviously looks have nothing to do with our decision to vote for McCain.
And all McCain supporters are not unedcuated......
or hicks. I take offense at the original comment. We're even.
McCain supporters shouting "Kill him" at his
rallies. What is that about??? That scares me.
All this gloom and doom McCain's supporters
to be a real bore. I'm ready for a strong dose of optimism, hope and change. The republicans have proven to us over these past 8 years that they cannot run the economy anywhere except into the ground. That is why Obama is leading in this race and that is why Obama will win this election. Rale on. spin yourselves into the ground, for all the good it will do you.
See, McCain supporters do care about others, of all nationalities. nm

mcClain finally sinks it

New issue of an obscure accountant's magazine with an article written by mcclain recently released. He states that he is proud of his role in deregulating the financial sector and was looking forward to deregulating health care industry.  Glub, glub, glub, down the toilet he goes.  Hoisted by his own petard.

At one time I would have too, when McCain was...sm
a moderate republican. He has changed so much from what he used to be. It seems that CP thinks so too.
So that's why they ran McCain last time and might
McCain was certainly no southern evangelical, and Mormons are hardly southern evangelicals either. I doubt four people could tell you what church Michael Steele, the RNC chief, attends - if any.

I keep seeing these assertions, but they're always from the left. On my local precinct committee, I don't believe there's a single evangelical.

What's happening here is rather interesting - a confluence of two different liberal themes.

On the one hand, the left has mounted a concerted effort in recent years to drum up hatred or contempt of Christians throughout this society generally. Indeed, there is only ONE group of people in society who have no protection from blatant prejudice (of the very kind liberals claim to hate), and those are people who follow the Christian faith - either Protestant or Catholic.

Now, we have this attempt to paint the Republican party as one that is run by these people for whom we have ginned up the ignorant masses to hate.

Some might suspect that these two themes were being quite cleverly and carefully orchestrated together, and that their synergies are not mere coincidence. Personally, I don't know, but I couldn't prove them wrong.

Some Obama campaign promises are put on hold as the economy sinks
More doom and gloom, and more campaign promises will not be kept.

Is it just me, or does our President Elect look less and less, with each passing day, like the man that so many put into this office....and more and more like the rest of knew him to be?

Some Obama campaign promises are put on hold as the economy sinks

BY CELESTE KATZ
DAILY NEWS POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT

Sunday, January 11th 2009, 4:00 AM

Tackling the troubled economy is going to require Americans to sacrifice - and it means some campaign promises will have to be put on hold, President-elect Barack Obama says.

"Everybody's going to have to give. Everybody's going to have to have some skin in the game," Obama said on ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" set to air this morning.

Obama's comments came as the President-elect, who takes office Jan. 20, responded to a new national unemployment report by saying in his weekly address Saturday that he'll save or create 3 million to 4 million new jobs.

"Our challenge is going to be identifying what works and putting more money into that, eliminating things that don't work and making things that we have more efficient," Obama said on ABC. "I want to be realistic here. Not everything that we talked about during the campaign are we going to be able to do on the pace we had hoped."

Obama agreed that his administration is going to involve some version of a "grand bargain" - changes in areas like tax reform, Social Security and Medicare will come at a cost.

Addressing the nation as his team released figures on the job situation, Obama said in his weekly radio and video address that 90% of the jobs will be created in the private sector. The remainder are "mainly public sector jobs" such as teachers, cops and firefighters.

The report released by Obama's team Saturday projected the creation of 678,000 new construction jobs and 408,000 manufacturing jobs by next year under an estimated $775 billion stimulus plan.

Among the sources of the new jobs Obama cited: designing more efficient cars and building solar panels, infrastructure roles such as repairing roads and bridges, and jobs in the health care and education sectors.

Obama said economists predict that if Congress doesn't agree on a large-scale stimulus plan, the U.S. will shed as many as 4 million jobs before the recession comes to an end.

Obama also vowed to procure "bipartisan extensions of unemployment insurance and health care coverage" and a $1,000 tax cut for 95% of working families.

"Given the magnitude of the challenges we face, none of this will come easy. Recovery won't happen overnight, and it's likely that things will get worse before they get better," Obama warned.

Time to find another mantra. McCain has
Time to take that broken record off the turntable and start singing another tune. You guys are looking more and more idiotic each time you drag out these impotent attacks. How long is it going to take you to realize how much harm you are doing TO YOUR OWN CANDIDATE. You have Obama looking more presidential than ever and McCain is coming off as a candidate who cannot even control his own campaign and is out of synch with his own supporters. The very least they need to do in the next 24 days is to try to stay on the same page with their candidate. After all, he has sent a clear signal that his own HUMANITY will not allow him to tolerate the dirt you guys are trying to shovel...especially in view of those lovely death threats that keep showing up at the Palin rallies. Give it up. the tactic is bankrupt.
So if McCain didn't vote 64% of the time
how can he vote with Bush 90% of the time?  LOL!
I knew it was a matter of time before we would hear from a McCain supporter
I guess you must figure if you use his middle name enough times people are going to think what? That he's Saddam reincarnated? You really do not give America enough credit to know a name does not make a person who they are, the goodness they do and what they believe in make them a good person. So...when you post about John McCain do you write John Sydney McCain? And do you write Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton? No. You don't even know what Hussein means. Here's a bit of background of the origin of his name. Barack means "To bless" and Hussein means "to be good". Both are beautiful names. I know exactly what you are trying to do. You believe that if you say his name enough times in full people will think of Saddam Hussain. But there are many more good people with the name. For instance...King Hussein of Jordan. The person who wrote the Kite Runner is Khaled Hossain and many more. In fact there are more good people named Hussein than are bad.
Hussein is a very common name in Bangladesh just like Smith or Jones. His middle name honors his grandfather. In case you don't realize this, he was born in America and raised in a Christian home, went to christian churches. To incite feelings of "fear" because his middle name is Hussein? Well just shows what kind of person you are.
Also, you didn't show the good things he has done working in government. And the stuff you did write I don't think a lot of people know what all this means. I read it and its just mumbo jumbo. If you want to talk about bad records and bad things people have done while in government, lets post about Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton. There's enough reading material to last a lifetime.
I don't know about intelligence...sm
but I do feel that it will be the people in Washington in power are the ones that will benefit the most from an Obama White House, and a democratic majority in Congress. They want power and control over this country and its people. Truly frightening, in my opinion.

While the lower income bracket may benefit in some ways, truly, the majority of American people and their way of life, will not, and will be changed forever.

It will take at least a generation to recover from this. I fear the most for our children and grandchildren. They will have a hard time attaining what was once the American dream.
How much INTELLIGENCE does it take to
nm
Thanks, anyway. But with intelligence, you can
nm
So much for your pre-speech intelligence

He did talk about the war.... Hey, wait a minute, your intelligence was bad....You lied to us!!!   You twisted the information to fit your post...Don't you want to apologize and tell us all what a terrible mistake you made!!!!       How does it feel to be called a liar without justification?

I am not underestimating the intelligence....
I do not doubt the intelligence. But there are a fair number of people who either don't care what the man is about or refuse to see it. I think bankrupting coal plants is a critical issue. I think being accepting of skyrocketing power bills for US to make a point is a critical issue. I think redistribution of wealth is a critical issue.

Bottom line tho..if he is elected, and if he does what he promises...be very careful what you ask for. Ask Venezuela and Cuba what a failed socialist state looks like.
please do not insult my intelligence
Why do people here do that? You do not know me so do know presume that I am "not familiar with workers' movements and do not keep up with the news." You do not have to accept my opinion; I do not have to accept yours. But please realize I have every right to hold that opinion and to express it. Just because i see it differently than you does not give you the right to demean my knowledge of the subject. I have lived on the side of those who were definitely hurt be unionization. My opinion comes from personal experience as well as other sources. I am outta here now.
Intelligence offends you? First of all,

he beat the Clinton machine at their own game, and you should be way happy about that, at least Hilary is not Prez.  Secondly, he is a black man who has been elected by the American people as President of the United States.  Forgive me, but a dumb black man could never have accomplished that.  You should be thanking God that we finally have a man in office who is intelligent, who may be able to help you and the rest of the middle class get a leg up.  And a plus, he can make intelligent conversation with speaking in sentences, unlike W.  Give the man a chance, he hasn't even been sworn in. No one bad-mouthed W until he royally screwed the American people.

Intelligence Committee?
A congressional delegation made what was supposed to be a top secret trip to Iraq this week. A few media outlets, including Congressional Quarterly, learned about it but agreed not to disclose anything until the delegation had left Iraq.

So what did Rep. Peter Hoekstra, R-Michigan do? By the way, Hoekstra is a former chairman of the Intelligence Committee and is still a ranking member. Hoekstra BLOGGED about the trip on his Twitter page and included details about their itinerary in updates posted every few hours.

In a related note, a recent debate between candidates for Republican National Committee chair featured an argument over who had more friends on Facebook. It's good to see the Republican party is embracing new technology.
Any person with intelligence would

see that this is a facetious post.  No one really wants this to happen.  This was just trying to prove a point and obviously the dems have twisted it around to be treason.  I can't help but laugh at the idiocy on this board.  It is so much better to call people names and cry about the last 8 years than to take a good look at what is going on in the world now.  No worries though.  When Obama runs this country into the ground, you will still blame Bush and live in your happy little demented bubble drinking kool-aid.

Wake up people.  Bush is out of office.  It is Obama's turn now.  So let's pay attention to what he is doing....shall we?

One would have to have a certain level of intelligence to be bored. sm

You are the weakest link.  Buh-bye now.

Are you sure your are not confusing arrogance with intelligence and sm
confidence? Those are the qualities we need in a president aren't they?
Intelligence offends you? Just an observation.
Oh oh, another big word....
Intentional Intelligence is my game!
I am way too smart to let your feeble attempts at right-wing propaganda affect the decisions I make regarding this election. I consider the source and do not give you a second thought! I have seen you repeat your talking points over and over and over again, hoping that if you repeat them often enough people will somehow believe that they are true. Well you don't fool me! You will have to find some of your Joe six-pack buddies and try to sell your line of crap to them. I am with the elite group!
Oh my...another Obama fan proves their intelligence
or lack thereof.  How sad.
Bush ignored the intelligence reports.
The attack most likely had been planned for a long time, but Bush and his cronies ignored all of the intelligence reports they received that indicated that a huge attack using airplanes was imminent. If he wants credit for keeping us safe since 9/11, he has to take credit for not keeping us safe on 9/11!
I always thought you had more intelligence than most of the left.

Palin has more intelligence than you would ever give
nm
Typical right-wing intelligence.
.
How pathetic. I am not scared by intelligence.
nm
Wow, the intelligence in this message is astounding
x
OK, they agreed. Doesn't mean the intelligence was correct, and it obviously
wasn't, hence, no WMDs, no connection to Al Quaeda. Just getting rid of a brutal dictator - hey, I can live with that. So, does that mean we are now the world police?

Clinton has never, I mean never as far as I can recall or read made a connection to Al Quada and Iraq as was done by this admin. Our reasons for attacking Iraq under the Clinton admin. was in response to Saddam not complying with UN sanctions. Two different things.

The links to Al Quada that are operating in Iraq today are there in oposition to the US preemptive military action in Iraq. They simply were not there before this war began. Our president knew there was no connection before we went to war.
I remember when *intelligence* actually meant knowledge...sm
No I don't want to sit around and wait to be killed along with my loved ones or anyone else's, but when my day and time comes there's nothing anyone can say or do to stop it. What I don't agree with is the preemptive war in Iraq..period. And you are sadly mistaken, IF Saddam had ordered an attack or enabled an attack like 9-11 to be carried out in America I would be the first to stand up and say let's go get him. But, then Bush probably would go after Kim Jong-il, go figure.

Al Quaeda attacked America, yet we have spent the majority of our time and energy in Iraq fighting insurgents in that country and IMHO made more enemies for ourselves.
What a stupid comparison. Anyone with minimal intelligence...sm
could not say they think SP would make a competent president. Get a grip!

Actually, I do have "at least" minimal intelligence, and I think she's just as qualified as
It's not like she was plucked out of the PTA without doing anything else. I can't see that Obama has done anything more than she has besides vote present and campaign.
People should have to pass an intelligence test
.
Typical pub. Underestimates the intelligence of US voters.
x
Underestimating the intelligence of the American voter
It's what makes them think replacing critical issues debate with smears, scare tactics and politics of division can win an election.
Israeli intelligence is far superior to our own...at this point

This man knows these things because he has been involved in Israel's intelligence community since the late 60s early 70s and is currently a consultant to the US.

Did you know that our fed gov is currently hiring like gangbusters? They are striving to improve our security as a nation. Surprise! We actually have a president who is trying to improve things! We will get attacked under Obama's watch - you can pretty much count on it. But, I suspect he will not ignore intelligence warnings beforehand - like Bush did.

Protect us???? He did not listen to all the Intelligence Reports....sm
that a large-scale attack was imminent, his Daddy lit the flame by going over to Iraq the first time to secure Daddy Bush's and his friend's oil interests there, they did not care a FIG about the poor Kuwaitis! We are more hated as a nation now, because of the Bush policies, than we have EVER been in history, and instead if his getting Bin Ladin, as he vowed, he helped the Bin Ladin family living in LA to escape the country becaue of the wrath of the people. Speaking of Kool-Aid? Blind pubs must have bought the factory and have been living on the stuff the past 8 years, unbelievable!
