No, Duck, not made up, and you fail to miss my point...

I think the dems are missing a LOT of points with Obama's plans for us...

I see your point but you fail to see mine.

If we are reading stories to our 5 year old about a same-sex couple who raises a baby together....to me that suggests more than tolerance.  That is teaching acceptance that that lifestyle is okay and that is something I cannot condone.

I believe in God but others don't.  I would appreciate it if people would tolerate my religion as it is a part of me but they don't have to accept my religion.  That is their decision.  My faith and religion cannot be taught in schools or even on school property because it is a controversial subject nowadays and I have tolerated that and continue to keep my "preachings" out of public schools.  I would appreciate it as well if public schools would keep the teaching and acceptance of homosexuality out of public schools as well.

Yup, you still miss the point...oh well....nm

Did you miss the point?
Without government interference, there would never have been subprime loans in the first place! The banks couldn't afford them!!! Now, that is correctness!
You really did miss my whole point entirely.
I didn't defend alcohol being legal. I said, in effect, "Do two wrongs make a right?"

I'm sorry you wasted all those keystrokes.
I did not miss your point at all
You either love all men as God teaches or you don't. I don't think God says to love them all - except for this group or that group. Nope, God says to love ALL men. There are no exceptions to that.
You still miss the point that 48% of the country....
don't see Obama as the leader you see and have no faith that he can "change" anything for the better. He talks a lot of "unite" but not much about "compromise." He wants to bring US to HIS side, not meet us in the middle. His whole career has been that, his voting record has been that. What, I ask you, is there other than his word for it that he means to change anything other than taking everything we the 48% believe and demolishing it so that nothing remains but HIS view? Where is ANY tangible proof of that? He is immovable on abortion and extreme far left radical on it. He means to change the face of the supreme court and remove all semblance of conservatism. He does not want to "unite" conservatives, he wants conservatives to become liberals. As do his followers...it is readily apparent from the posts you read here. No one here is interested in uniting anyone, unless you adopt their thoughts, their values, their vision. If you don't, you are an ignorant redneck and so many other colorful adjectives I can't name them all.

So you tell me...where in anything Obama says does a conservative find hope for compromise or positive "change?" Please direct me there.

As to party rubble...not a republican...that party left me a long time ago. I personally think the party system is divisive and I think the idea of only 2 candidates reeks. But...oh well. The powerful higher-ups know the more candidates you have, the harder to get a majority...and they don't want that.

Oh well...off my soapbox. In closing...very simple. If Obama truly does start to "compromise" in his effort to "unite" then I might really believe he is reaching out to those of us who don't trust him. Until then...just words.
If it quacks like a duck and looks like a duck...
Obama wants to redistribute the wealth. He said it. Let's all understands he wants to impose this socioeconomic theory upon America. It IS socialism, by the way. (Each according to their ability, each according to their needs...)
Now, spreading money around seems noble. Hell, let's just give everyone an extra $50,000. Pick any $$$ amount. But the economy doesn't work that way.
And, as a small business owner, I can honestly say that "typical" minimum wage workers do not work that way.
In my business, we had on-going trouble getting our staff of 20 workers to show up for their scheduled hours... They always had an excuse. "I had a headache." "My daughter's father didn't pick her up cause his girlfriend had car trouble." "I needed to take my mother in to a doctor's appointment and by the time I got back at 11 a.m., I figured the day was shot so I didn't bother coming in...." (My favorite:) "The ghost in my bathroom wouldn't let me leave my apartment."
So, we instituted a GENEROUS on-time, filled schedule bonus. We would add a bonus of 25% to their bi-weekly paycheck if they merely showed up on time and/or filled their printed schedule at a 90% rate. (That's right, we even built in a ten percent forgiveness rate.)
Guess how many times, in three years, I've had to give the 25% bonus? Only once! Three years, average 20 employees employed, and only once did one person show up for their scheduled hours.
And now Barack Obama wants to GIVE these people money? As if they will rise themselves out of poverty or use the money to better their world? No, they will increase their HBO subscriptions, buy better quality/quantity of drugs and alcohol, and work less. To be clear, they will not save for their children's education, they will not save to purchase their own homes, they will not be motivated in any way to ADD to the productivity our nation so desires.
Obama policies clearly demonstrate he has NO UNDERSTANDING of why there are different socioeconomic classes in America and the world. And his policies of redistribution will fail
Ron Paul on EARMARKS.....please don't miss his point

I didn't miss the point - I have been a McCain supporter
I have been on this board arguing over and over why McCain is the better choice. I used to support Obama until a few weeks ago after he beat out Hillary and then all this stuff about his life and the people he associates with (forget Rev. Wright- I could care less about that little dweeb), but his affiliations with the worst of the worst, his voting record, his lies about how he will not tax us, yet has consistently voted to raise taxes on who? The middle income (around $42,000 - if you would call that middle income anymore). His not cutting back on any of the programs he wants to fund. The list goes on and on and on about what I don't like about Obama.

As for McCain - I think he's a decent guy. I think he's way more decent than many of the politicians in Washington. I think he has always been on the side of the people and has shown that by consistently arguing against both dems and pubs if it doesn't benefit the people. I strongly supported the ticket mainly because of Palin. She is certainly one of the most qualified out of the other 3. She has consistently balanced the budget as governer, cut back pork filled bills, stopped wasteful spending, and has done nothing but good things for the people of her state and I believe that will carry over if the republicans win.

I was so expecting a really good debate and believed Gov. Palin helped him tremendously with her outstanding debate outcome, so was expecting nothing but good with McCain. There were so many issues people were talking about with what McCain would need to do to win the debate. I didn't see any of it last night and left me wondering, who does he meet with before debates and speeches and does he listent to any of them. To me his performance last night was so bad shuffling around the stage. I was sitting here typing and heard loud and clear McCain say "that one" not only saying it, but the tone of his voice just hit a raw nerve with me. DH and I just looked at each other and shook our heads. As I stated earlier I was very disappointed as I have been on this board arguing over and over and over for McCain and against Obama. But I don't know what was worse. His saying "that one" or him overusing "my friends". Why hasn't anyone told him to knock it off. He uses it in almost every single sentance he says. Like I say, I got disgusted and turned off the debate. Right now I don't care anymore who wins the election. I'm voting for the constitutional party, if I do even vote at all.
Yes! You made my point exactly
They just keep shipping the jobs out until eventually we'll be left with millions of doctors and lawyers!! And who wants that?! :)

Seriously, something has to be done about this. Unfortunately, quite a few politians are paid by these big companies that make profits by off-shoring. We have to start putting major pressure on them to stop.
You just made my point..........
Narrow minded people always assume, as the Obama supporters have, if you ain't for their guy, you must be for McCain. I couldn't stand either one of them. The populace, to include illegals, all ran to Obama and for what? Because they think the government is supposed to take care of them.

When I see people on this board griping and whining about one or the other parties, it amazes me why they gripe at all. They obviously don't care about this country at all, just themselves. I doubt most of them even bother to research anything for themselves. They let their TV screen do all their thinking for them, as now Obama will do for them.
You have just proved the point I made below

While I don't agree with your opinion 100 percent at least you can talk to us without making anything we say personal, A.W. and Carla cannot.

I'll agree that some had a visceral hatred of Clinton.  I never did personally.  I didn't vote for him, did not think he was a good president, but I didn't walk around everyday blaming everything bad in my life on him either.  I disliked by his personal example that he lowered the morality level in our country several notches, and yes, I do think that he should have been thrown out of office for #1) having sexual favors performed just outside the oval office by someone other than his wife, and #2) then looking in the face of every American and lying about it (#2 being the damning impeachable offense).

At this point I haven't seen proof that Bush has done anything impeachable.  I think Bush has done some good things while in office and has also done some things I don't agree with.  However, if I support the president in any way then I'm accused of bowing down and worshipping at his feet by A.W. and Carla, and let's not forget the late-to-this-board gt.  Their reactions are way beyond the rational although it is understandable why Carla may have these strong feelings given what she's gone through this year.  I think she may be misdirecting some of her anger though.

You have made your point, move on.nm
//
Glenn could not have made his point
better! MSNBC picked up on the show so quickly, along with all the regular critics, they really spread his message for him. They are such a great advertising firm for him and Bill-O! Thanks for posting it on here!
Yep, MSNBC made a point of going over that
$$$
I respectfully disagree on one point you made:

*...most of us on the liberal board do not buy *impending doom* theory that you live by.*

I personally will be fearful of *impending doom* for the next 3 years.  If I/we can get through that, then I'll be able to relax (a little) as hopefully more Americans will come to their senses.

Starcat made a very valid point.

You don't tolerate irresponsibility when it comes to pet owners (which I agree with, by the way), yet you seem to welcome it when it comes to your political party.  One has to ask why you continue to sing the praises of and support the most irresponsible administration in US history, yet you express outrage about a cat owner.  Just doesn't make sense.

And as far as you being tolerant, one only needs to take a quick look at the conservative board to see how laughable that really is.  You and your cohorts post the most intolerant posts I've ever seen anywhere on the internet.

I do agree with you about pet owners being responsible.  I am a pet owner and keep my pets under control simply because I love them and want to keep them safe.

See? You're proving the very point made about
right wing rage. Sure hope you and your fanatic friends don't all own guns......
Good post. I think you made your point!
Go McCain/Palin 2008
Good, I made my point, but I won't move on.
Too bad for you.
You just made my point.....shouldn't they be protected
x
I thought Brunson made a good point down below.
One of the reasons the antiwar protesters have not been taken more seriously is that they have personalized this against Bush and not against war.  I do think it is possible to separate the two.  But I also think that protesting in the streets puts our military at risk, in fact I know that it does.  The pen is a mighty weapon.  Senators and congressmen and women want to be reelected.  Sitting in front of the WH with a bullhorn and shouting obscenities and name calling to the President of the United States is not going to ever work.  And it shows a distinct lack of respect, if not for the man, then for the office and the White House itself.
I made my point. Reading comprension problem?
x
Again my point is made - you just like arguing and bashing people that don't agree with you
Your bringing up a dead subject while shouting it at us. You started an abortion post on 8/25 and bashed everyone who didn't agree with you, and you were bashing people on 8/22 about the same subject. Everytime someone brought up their viewpoint you be arguing or bashing them. The point I (and others) are making is you keep bringing this up again and again and again and again and when people don't agree with you you bash them, then when they come back to say something you bash them even more. Then when we finally get a break and have new topics, you start another post about the abortion thing again. The abortion issue is getting tiring for all. We know what abortions are, how horrible they are, and we know how babies are made and the stages of their lives (we are MT's and all took the course) but you feel the need to keep it up and up and up and it's getting real old. Besides that it looks like you are posting under other names and then answering yourself.

I want to read people's opinions and questions of issues we are facing. Abortion is not one of them for most of us. Let it go and move on. What I am trying to say is that while I'd like to hear your viewpoints on other issues enough with the abortion and try and not be so argumentative all the time.

Yes, we all have the right to post things, but it looks like you are posting just for the sake of arguing and we're all getting tired of it.

So go ahead bash me some more.
DUCK SEASON!!!

Can't resist....maybe it isn't a duck, maybe it's a republican. LOL

If the Big 3 fail........... Or the Big 2.... sm
I guess it should technically be called as Ford isn't asking for any money right now, then when the March deadline approaches and they are not able to show a viable plan to the White House, I guess it could be considered a bailout which will only end up postponing the inevitable and costing the tax payers money. In my opinion, there is really no difference.
It never goes to fail
If there is something negative about a democrat the dems always blame "the right wing" or "that reporter is a conservative", but the left wing media trashes a republican and that's okay. The dems say "oh he's just a reporter giving his insight".

This one sidedness is so unfair and quite nauseating.
LOL....I think I would fail on all counts (sm)
as well as on grammar and my inability to multitask.  I was talking on the phone when I wrote that last post, looked back at it after I posted it and was astounded.  LOL
What you fail to realize.....
is our leaders need to have private jets and helicopters (the helicopters, btw, were ordered by W) for their own protection. They have to fly more than one or with a squadron for protection. When they drive, it is a squadron of identical vehicles, so no one can identify which vehicle the govt personnel is riding in. We need to heal the wounds with our allies that W created. "Yur either with us or against us!" What cowboy horsesh*t. We need to restore some class to our govt - because of the crude, retarded way things were handled for the last 8 years.
That being said, what they fail to remember is this.....
Most of these programs are only going to be good for something like 2 years. So a state goes ahead and takes advantage of this money. Yea!!! New jobs are created, new beurocracies are created to administer these new jobs. Then POOF....all gone, bye-bye. So now you have a program that is no longer any good. But you still have to jump through the hoops because you took the bait (money) and ran with it.

And everybody knows that once something is put in place by a gov't body, any gov't body, it never goes away. It just lingers around for the rest of our lives.

And for what it is worth, our governor here in MI said that any states that don't want their stimulus money can give it to us. We'll put it to good use.
I fail to see how trickle up would work any better....sm
A lot of people I know who got their stimulus checks used it to pay their bills, put gas in their car, and buy a few groceries...and if there's any left, stuff it in their mattress for a rainy day (which is probably next week or next month).

Please explain to us how trickle up is going to work. I don't see how that chicken is going to stimulate the economy much at all.
You fail to mention the fact.......
that the dems aren't going after the Bush administration for war crimes - proven war crimes. War crimes our country has executed people for in the past.
Geneva convention? What's that?
I too want Obama's policies to fail. If anyone...
listened to the whole interview with Rush they would understand what he was talking about. Don't want the country to fail, which is happening right now before our very eyes.
Reply - more liberal fail
Actually Cavuto didn't say Fox News. He said Fox.

Murdock and Fox have been in the business since 1985.

http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative/2009/04/tea-party-more-liberal-fail.html

Conservative Spin Fail
Cavuto was directly addressing coverage by cable news organizations when he made those quotes, directly comparing Fox News to CNN and MSNBC. (Watch the video clips.)

And, unless they covered it on Married with Children or the X-Files, there was no "Fox" coverage of the Million Man March because the only news broadcasts on Fox at that time were provided by local affiliates from other networks, and that was at the discretion of individual stations. They did not have a national nightly news broadcast.
GT you fail to realize that you are not the only person with an opinion
Bush positives:

Saddam is gone.
The Taliban and Al Queda for all intenstive purposes are neutered.
The economy is booming despite all the major hurricanes.
Employment is up dramatically.
The Iraqis have a constitution.

These are but just a few.

What are the democrats doing besides witch hunts? Nothing of value for the country. No plans, no answers, just fingerpointing.

Bush is far from inept in my humble opinion, but of course, you don't validate anyone's opinions but your own.

Agreed. Empires are doomed to fail.
nm
They did not cause the housing crisis. They did, however, fail acknowledge the problem
and they most certainly failed to tackle the problem in a timely and effective way.

One of the major factors in the housing crisis was the repeal of Glass-Steagall and the implementation of Graham-Bliley Act. The lack of oversight, the deregulation that allowed lenders to lend without being subject to oversight rules because the type of financial institution they were doomed us.

The Bush administration backed off proposed crackdowns on no-money-down, interest-only mortgages years before the economy collapsed, buckling to pressure from some of the same banks that have now failed. It ignored remarkably prescient warnings that foretold the financial meltdown, according to an Associated Press review of regulatory documents. "Expect fallout, expect foreclosures, expect horror stories," California mortgage lender Paris Welch wrote to U.S. regulators in January 2006, about one year before the housing implosion cost her a job.

I am not a fan of Frank, Dodd, or Pelosi. I am not a fan of TARP, especially because there was/is no built-in oversight or accountability. Shoot, the some of the same predatory lenders that were put out of business by their own practices are up and running again, passing out toxic loans to desperate people, because they managed to get their hands on bailout money.
You fail to note that the Army Corp of Engineers....
is a federal entity and it was THEIR job to fix the levies, too bad W cut all the funding so he could play Monopoly in Iraq.
Either side can fail to deliver on promises. My only hope and prayer is that
I'm honestly not 100% sure either one of these candidates can do it so where do people like me fit into the picture? I'm not even sure I will be able to vote for either one, and that's based on my personal values. I don't feel Barack is the man, like many seem to, but I don't feel McCain is, either. I know I'm not alone. I don't believe socialized insurance is the answer, I believe in going after insurance companies that dictate what patients can have done and set premiums too high for people to afford and pharmaceutical companies that pay people off to push their drugs, whether it be doctors, groups, etc. I'd like to see all with tax cuts, not just big companies. Wonderful if they get a break for keeping jobs in the US, but that should be just one of many tax cuts for all, starting with taxes paid at the pump. What about public education? We pay fees and still have to buy extra books and other supplies for our kids' education, yet many children are less educated now out of public high school than ever before because they are too focused on the proficiency tests to actually teach a well-rounded fund of knowledge, so what are the proposals to fix that mess?

No matter who gets elected, they've got quite a job on their hands, and I sincerely doubt either will be able to live up to their promises. And no, I don't necessarily blame Bush for all the problems in this country, but rather I blame all presidents and congress, past and present. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being for the people, that's for sure, and more for their pocketbooks (both Dems AND Repubs). Since so many seem to see Barack as the second coming, I certainly pray that you are right, but I really doubt it. He's had zero experience so who is to say he won't buckle under the load once he realizes what he's gotten into? And McCain isn't my idea of perfection, either, so don't reply by bashing Republicans. I want to hear facts that aren't based on party views but honest-to-goodness facts on who has the best plan in line for these things. And how do you know who is being sincere and who is just making empty campaign promises?
Nope. Liberally-biased media wont let him fail.

That would just suck.
