None of this will matter after December 2012 anyway.

In 2012 none of our votes will matter, if anyone
The signs will be obvious and the end will be eminent. You should worry less about politics and more about your soul, as should we all.
If Palin pursues prez bid in 2012, lies matter.
All of them. Vigilent watch on Obama is the order of the day and pervades dialog on this forum. Doesn't hurt to start the SP watch now, document it well and be prepared.
Close, 22 in December
But you have to start somewhere right? I could be like the majority of "kids" my age, buying $200,000 dollar homes, brand new cars, having babies, and then going "OH CRAP, credit doesn't mean free??"

My point of the post was that it's not fair for those who make more to have to give to those of us who make less. We have to climb our way up the economic ladder just like everyone else. If someone LEGITIMATELY needs help, let's give it to them.

But it shouldn't take the government to do that.
December 15th............. sm
Which happens to be my birthday. Obama as POTUS would be one heck of a birthday present! ROFL

There are reports that the electorates are very nervous about the upcoming EC vote because of the possibility of putting someone into office that could possibly be a fraud and also because of what overturning the popular vote would bring. They are in a very precarious position and I would not like to be in their shoes. I'd rather be a trader on Wall Street right now. Probably a whole lot less stress.
Only one problem. This happened in late December
NM
Here's what I would like to see by 2012

1.  Get rid of the electoral college.  It's obsolete and completely out of touch with its constituents now.  It was necessary when it was instituted - the country was young with a large portion of its population being illiterate, without the technology for communication we have today, etc.

2.  No more presidential candidates/elections.   Let's put all the issues on a nation-wide ballot and vote. Decide what we, as a nation, want to do about all of the national issues.

3.  Once we have our voted decisions on the national issues, hire a President to carry out what the nation has decided to do.  Provide the criteria to be realized for a successful employment scenario and what would constitute failure in the role.  Maintain the right to terminate for failure.  Bonus for success.  No bonus, no severance pay for failure.  Charges for corruption.

I'm done.

Not really shocking....she wants to run again in 2012.
No one knows how they are going to vote. No one knows what they are saying behind closed doors, although they give Obama lukewarm support to the public. I would not be surprised if they vote for McCain. Would not surprise me at all. Would not surprise me if they are, in unseen ways, subverting Obama's cammpaign.

And then again, maybe Bill is being honest and really feels that way. It is true, McCain has always acknowledged global warming and climate change, much to the dismay of many of his colleagues, and he does have a better record on it than Obama does. McCain has never toed the party line, and that is one of the things I like most about him.
I'm with you! Arnold 2012!!! (nm)

Schwarzenegger 2012!!!
LOL!!!
We WILL have an election in 2012 - that is what most go by
The audacity to automatically assume Obama will serve until 2017 is what is going to get you in trouble.

Since you don't understand the simple concept let me explain it for you. Please read slowly so you can grasp reality.

Since America has had it's first president we have had elections every four years. Therefore, seeing as we have just had an election in 2008 and Obama takes office in 2009, our next election will be in 2012.

Your antics and rhetoric of just assuming that Obama will be in there for a second term I would say is a bit premature. Let's let him at least get sworn in and see what kind of a job he does as president. A lot can happen in four years. If he survives then in four years he can think of running again. If Bill Clinton had done half the stuff he did in his second term when he was in his first term he might have not had a second term. We don't know yet if Obama will be keeping his campaign promises or what kind of President he will be.

Here's some reality for you. Obama may turn out to be an absolutely fantastic president. We can all hope for that. So...he could turn out to be a good president and then again he may not be a good president. We won't know until after he has served in the role. Also, you are assuming that because GW was not a good president that every single other living republican would not be a good president and that is just not true. If you believe that then you have a very distorted viewpoint of politics. There are some very good republicans and there are some very good democrats. Just like there are some very bad republicans and there are some very bad democrats. Obama is too new and we don't know what category he falls into yet.

The truth of the matter is that we WILL have another election in four years. Which means the republican party has got four years to really get it together and pick someone that is decent to run against whoever the next democratic nominee will be, whether it is Obama or if he doesn't last whoever else they are going to put in there.

Also we have the congress/senate/house to think of - you know all those people who vote on issues and who have gotten our country in the trouble it is in now (I'm not blaming either side alone - there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides). No, sorry to burst your bubble but GW didn't crap on this country all by his little ol self. The people in the senate who vote on issues did that. So...if for the next four years we see a continuation of the decline of our country, America will probably say, enough with the democrats, we need to bring back a republican president. Not very many people are keen on the idea that every single thing is now being run by one political side. We do need a balance to our government.

One other factor to think about is all the people that Obama is appointing to his cabinet. I'm seeing on this board by a lot of posts that there are a lot of people who, while they are enthusiastic and excited that Obama was elected, they are way not excited that he keeps bringing the old Clinton people back and people who have no experience. Those were the same people who made a mess of things back then and now he's bringing them back in. What he owes them I have no idea but for him to campaign that he is the ONLY candidate who can unite the two parties and he will hire both sides to evenly balance things, that is the first campaign promise he has broken.

Lastly, without any doubt there are some scandals looming about. These are not fabrications. It's just the truth. People he was involved with and are still involved with. Who he owes favors to, the BC thing (whether or not it will get resolved is another story). There is just too much to be ignored. I do understand the loathing that people have for Bush and they would have rather elected a dog rather than another republican, therefore most were saying, so what and tried to bebunk a lot of the issues, however, the issues are real and will not be going away. Not saying that GW doesn't have his share of issues, but I'm not writing a post about GW. Anyway...with the issues that Obama has, one just doesn't know what the next four years will bring for us.

So, taking all that in account, a better approach would be to just say you hope Obama is a good president (as we all do because we want to see our country succeed) and in four years if he turns out to be good then he will be up for re-election. However to just say that its a fact that he will be in for 8 years is a bit arrogant (and nauseating).
Of course there will be an election in 2012
and with the GOP ensconced in this kind of denial and its party still in shambles, the results are a foregone conclusion. Thus, the 2929 count continues. The OP is the only prescription the GOP has to even hope to have a noticeable presence in 2012.
2012 candidate
A possible candidate. I hope so.

and the bickering goes on and on and on, until when? Till 2012?
Good night !
I seriously hope she's not campaigning for 2012.
I think that would be a huge mistake on her part. I think she over-estimates her popularity.

Sorry - "...will be running for office in 2012". SM
We must throw the current residents of Washington out of office, including this loony-left total disaster of a President, his cronies, and also the folks on the other side of the aisle who have become entrenched in power and have been no better in representing the middle-of-the-road Americans who by far constitute the majority in this country.

Let's CLEAN HOUSE!
I'm becoming more hopeful by the day. By 2012, the chickens
...a lot of voters will have lost their enchantment with the "idea" of voting for a President on the basis of his race or his superficial, glib mannerisms. In fact, if the Democrats themselves continue on the path they're starting to follow, I'm not entirely sure he'll be renominated!

The press can't change any of this, either. About 80% of the American population doesn't even watch the evening news on any of the so-called "main" networks.

With the vast wasteland that is the GOP 2012 field of contenders
don't expect her to come out from under the microscope anytime soon. Nailin Palin will become a national passtime at least until then. It is helpful to document anything and everything along the way so that patterns of behavior and subsequent analysis can be backed up with concrete data, not smear, innuendo and baseless accusations. Pretty much, that's how elections are won, or lost, depending on where you're coming from.
as opposed to the vast wasteland of one (Obama) demigod in 2012...

and I read that McCain failed to endorse her for 2012 in an interview - nm

Nope, 4 years 11 days (1471 days or 1383 til 11/4/2012)
You do really need to learn how to count until 11/4/2012 or 1/20/2013.

Also, sorry to hear in four years you won't care anymore.
What's the matter?
Hit a nerve? Did I offend? Good.
What's the matter? No one is
week.....Camelot is coming apart!  Actually, glad to see the pubs are big enough not to be saying *told you so.*  Does all the questions about past associations make more sense now?  It just keeps getting deeper and deeper and dirtier and dirtier.  But, of course, if you have drank enough of the Obama kool-aid all of this too shall be whisked away.  I know, I know, let's just give him time.  He's going to make things better, yes he can!
What's the matter?

It won't matter which one. sm
Both are beholden to special interests and the ruling class. A lot of people are oblivious to it, but there is a ruling class. The candidate I supported did confirm this, and so do a few of the candidates running on the third party tickets. Ever wonder why things never change and get worse, this is why.

There is a diary by a blogger on Daily Kos that explains it very well. It is very informative and worth the read.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/7/27/65732/1557/694/557641

what does that matter?

My nieces and nephews are raised by their white mothers... my grandson is being raised by a white mother and a white grandmother and a white great-grandmother, my stepchildren are being raised by their white mothers - that does not change the situation of how the world views these kids...  and it does not change how they view themselves.  Every one of the mixed kids in my family has a different answer for whether they are white, black, or biracial, and their answer does not necessarily go along with the color of their own skin.

I also think that being raised by a "white" grandmother was part of Obama's problem.  She was an older generation, still scared of black people, and she was teaching Obama to be "white" and when he got older he realized that he was not "white".  Because he looks like a black man, he obviously feels what a black man feels because he is treated in the world as a black man.

Yes, mixed children are beautiful - but they are "different" than us in that they are neither white or black and they are treated differently for that reason.  I hope that changes before my grandchildren get older, but so far, they are still expected to conform to being white or being black...

If a mixed child acts white, he is accepted by the white kids and taunted by the black kids, if he acts black, he is taunted by the white kids and accepted by the black kids.  The mixed children have to be taught from birth that they are a mixture of 2 heritages and to embrace both of them; but at this point, they still choose one or the other.

you can think all you want.....it just won't matter with him
!!
It does not matter! It is just that a man has sex with
a woman and a woman has sex with a man.
This is it! And this is right and normal !
Anything else isn't.

How can the government legalize it when it is morally wrong.

Again: I wished Miss California had won.

Would it matter?
Would it really change your mind? Or would you dismiss it away?

Have you ever read the Bible from start to finish with an open mind? Or even just the book of John if you don't want to devote that much time to it.

If you really want proof, try that. Seriously.
No matter how you try to say it, it's still
Since you're so concerned about teaching children right from wrong, it would be perfectly acceptable and should always be taught to children to never EVER call names, make fun of, or bully anyone! There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to even bring up the word 'homosexual' now is there?

If you teach a child not to bully or pick at anyone then you are teaching tolerance aren't you..... without even bringing up the word.

How hard is that to understand!?
What do you mean it does not matter?
Of course it matters. There isn't a draft registration if the intent isn't to SOME DAY have a draft!! Otherwise, what's the point in it? Use your head! It's to have a pool of young males to pull into govt wars!!!!

Just because we at this moment have a volunteer armed forces doesn't mean it will HAVE to stay that way.....

it can change on a whim!
What the heck does it matter to you
what happens on the conservative board.  Like most liberals you feel an innate desire to police everything everywhere as you and your uppity ilk are a lot better than everyone else...You have a board, stay on it, and have your nice little liberal tea parties over here.  I for one couldn't give a rat's ass what you think about the conservative board...you elitist control freaks...now can you TAKE that!
It's a matter of priorities.

Some people think taking people's lives in Iraq is more important than saving lives in America.  It's nothing new with this administration.

I believe every single person in this country is going to be negatively affected by this disaster, while Bush sits by and watches and just flashes that moronic grin of his, and Cheney and his Halliburton buddies get richer and richer.  Don't look for his followers to wake up and see this idiot administration for what it is.  Instead, look for them to become frustrated because their own lives will be falling apart, and look for the anger, hatred and rage on their part to increase.  Look at this board.  It's happening already, and it's only going to get worse.  Just wait.

Wussies? Why should it matter if someone is

a wussy or not on a political message board?  Is that your way of admitting that you're a bully?

It's a real shame that your mother didn't take the time to teach you how to treat people, didn't take the time to teach you manners.  She let a vicious animal loose on society, and that's really sad....for society.

It wouldn't matter what we said.
Their reaction would be the same.  I suppose I could have raged against a thousand perceived wrongs, assumed that everyone knew my history, and called a poster who dared to question -what makes you think we haven't- as some kind of insensitive heartless slam.  The real truth is much deeper and darker than that.  I am not quite sure why people choose to tell their deepest darkest secrets on chat boards.  Is it so that later on, someone might forget something they never knew, in order to attack that person with out of control fury, as some on this board are wont to do.  Of course, my sympathy goes out ot anyone who loses a loved one NO MATTER WHERE THEY WERE WHEN THEY DIED.  But perhaps my sympathy should be more reserved for those who feel the need to constantly attack, denigrate, misinterpret (deliberately?), hound, and judge those who challenge an ideal.  Having said that, I find some on here who post disturbed.  Merry Christmas to all.  My last post here.  If anyone cares to respond, I will not see it.
That's a matter of opinion.

No a matter of opinion is
the fact that you don't like the president, but overly demonizing him and lumping him in with an evil person bent on destroying Israel and the United States is blatant over dramatization.
It doesn't matter when. sm
The bill is about when and not now, meaning NOW, prisoners taken in war are dealt with by us.  The bill is about when Iraq becomes a full democracy and has nothing to do with who cares most about the soldiers.  This just caught my eye on the menu because it is wrong headed. And, if it were true, the media would be headlining it.  They aren't.
Here is the crux of the matter.

Embryonic stem cell research has been misrepresented.  To the gullible public, who will believe ads like the one Michael J. Fox put out there, ESC has become the panacea and cure-all for all time.  But it just isn't true. This quote from the article you posted, Brunson, is very important.

Reckless Hype and Overselling
Most of the campaign’s other ads have focused on “cures.” One shows a doctor saying that far from endangering women stem-cell research “could lead to cures for diseases that concern women like ovarian cancer.” Presumably the stem-cell treatment in question is bone marrow transplantation, an adult stem-cell technique widely in use for decades, and one in no way threatened by any legal barriers or related to embryonic stem cells or cloning. Another ad shows a pediatrician saying stem cells could help his patients, but offering no details. Another shows an Alzheimer’s researcher saying “stem cell research offers the promise of cures” for “so many devastating diseases like Alzheimer’s disease,” but offers no evidence to counter the near consensus in the field that this simply is not so. Many of these disingenuous ads repeat the claim that the initiative would ban human cloning, and none of the ads mention that all stem-cell research is already legal in Missouri and there are no prospects for that changing, or that the referendum would not support any new research.

******

We simply must educate ourselves and maybe, in the end, examine what our belief system is about life.  Morally and ethically I believe ESC research to be wrong. It will be the crowning touch down the long downward spiral we started on when we legalized abortion.

I will end with a quote from President Bush from the same speech I referenced in another post, where he was speaking to parents of adopted children.

(quote)The children here today remind us that there is no such thing as a spare embryo. Every embryo is unique and genetically complete, like every other human being. And each of us started out our life this way. These lives are not raw material to be exploited, but gifts. And I commend each of the families here today for accepting the gift of these children and offering them the gift of your love.(unquote)

In the end, it comes down to respecting life and God.  The decision lies with each of us.  I choose life.

It does not matter who votes for it or against it....
it is morally wrong. Because it is legal does not make it right. While I will obey the law of the land, as my faith teaches me to do, I will continue to speak out against a procedure that is murder, no matter who chooses it. See link if you do not believe that life begins at conception. View that and tell me that abortion is not killing a living baby and then defend it as right because someone chooses it. That choice is choosing to kill a child. The one portion of this. If you feel that a woman needs a choice of whether or not to kill a baby, so be it, that is your right and I respect your right to say it. I do not and will continue to speak against it, and I hope that you believe it is my right to do that as well. Some of us must speak for the most innocent who cannot speak for themselves.

It's a matter of opinion.

You were lying about your information being non-partisan.

As far as Plame being covert or not before the "leak" -- that is a matter of opinion.  Please do not state it as unassailable fact that was already outed.  Because something is listed as fact in a far right-wing publication does not make it true.  That's common sense lesson #1 for today....just as I would say because Michael Moore states something as fact also does not make it so.

Like I said, no matter how you try to twist it,
xx
doesn't matter to me
I think my candidate could hold his own against either one of those, but everyone has to protect "poor Sarah." Frankly, I don't want a leader that has to be handled with kid gloves. Geez.
Doesn't matter. I will NOT be in ANY way...
responsible for putting Barack Obama in the White House. NO WAY. NO HOW.
Race does not matter to me....

I have always voted for dems regardless of race.  Had Hiliary made it through the primary, I would vote for her, even though I personally believe that our country is not ready a female to hold that position.  I speak from a female point of view and we are too often guided by our feelings and make rash decisions, but later end up regretting our action because we did not think it through.  I would love to have Bill back as our president, life was good and he worked for the people.

so i guess it won't really matter to you

No it really doesn't matter..
I tune in just about everyday just to hear her and Joy go at it. Joy is rude, typical New Yorker I can say that, I am from there, so no flaming.
As a matter of fact, I do ...
... and as a (rational) independent, I find it really important to know all sides of all stories.

And, until this alleged tape of Michelle Obama is released and proven to absolutely be her, you are basing all of this on really sketchy accusations made by a relatively unprofessional news outlet.

Wasn't enough learned yesterday, upon people ranting and raving about this Ashley Todd atrocity, that accusations should not be put forth as absolute truth until all facts are in?
As a matter of fact, I have been
working at a convenience store during my college years. That is precisely WHY I want stricter handgun control and regulations that would seek to keep illegal handguns off the street and out of the hands of criminals. Obama simply believes that states out to have the authority to regulate and that the fed govt should not impede initiatives that address gun-free zones. For God's sake, if we can ban cigarettes from the workplace, public buildings and restaurants (which smoker's didn't like a bit) surely gun-free zones aimed at public safety (particularly when it comes to protecting children) should not be out of the question.
do you think if she were black it would have matter?
So sad.
