Well...I agree with some things but (sm)
I completely disagree with partial birth abortion, but I don't necessarily think early abortion should be illegal. I think it is wrong yes, but should it be illegal? I don't think so. I don't think you should mix religious beliefs with laws necessarily. And I have not even thought twice about Obama supporting gay marriage. I am not voting for him, but it is because of my issue with his associations and because of his partial birth abortion stance. Those are just my beliefs.
I agree....I think they took things too far.
There was no reason for that type of commercial ad. Of course, I'm not a fan of Peta anyway. I think they take things WAY too far when it comes to animals anyway, but that is just my opinion.

Their add was definitely distasteful and crude. They should have used their brains on that one but obviously didn't.
I agree. There are some things that (sm)

have me going "WHAAAAAAAAAAT???," just like I did with George W. Bush before I realized what his scam (unjustifiable war in Iraq and others)

I remember giving him the benefit of the doubt until his chronic lying turned me against him.  But I needed at least three years to do that.

I'm prepared to do the same thing with Obama:  Give him at least three years.  None of us is mind-readers on this board, and perhaps he is choosing not to share everything with us and the world (as it should be).

Meanwhile, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Regarding the ILLEGAL alien situation, I couldn't agree more with you.  There are laws on the books that make it pretty clear what should be done with ILLEGAL aliens.  I believe Bush ignored those laws so that the richer could pay less than poverty salaries to make the rich even richer.  But that took me a few years to figure out.  I will give the same three years to Obama before I decide to not vote for him again.

Anyway, whether we agree or disagree, I am just soooooo glad to see you back here again.  You know how to debate.

Those things are awful, I agree - but he is not going to fix them! nm

I agree with a couple things you say - see message
I stopped coming to the board for awhile for a couple reasons. First, I got way behind on my work (shame on me). Second because I keep going back between voting for JM, then BO, then JM, then BO, etc. Everytime I hear something new about one or the other I decide to switch, so rather than look the fool and write good or bad on one thing I just stopped. I do not believe people hate Obama. It's more like we are afraid of what will happen to the country if he gets in. And yes we are also concerned what will happen if JM gets in too, but more afraid of BO (BTW - I think I will be voting for the constitutional party). I don't like either choice and I think they are both bad for the country.

I do agree with you that I feel like I'm in school again with people fighting with you but not offering any solutions. And you know what - it's more of the Obama supporters that are bashing the McCain supporters. I know people don't want to hear that because I find more people who are democrats live their life in the "victim state" and like to always blame the republicans for everything bad that's happened and will never look to their own party. I truly believe it is Franks, Cox, & Dodd who are a lot to blame for what has happened economically, but it is easier to bash Bush because it happened while he was in office, but honestly this is not his fault whether you want to believe that or not. Also it isn't McCains fault either because he warned everyone 2 years ago. Also, I haven't read any of the posts, but I found out yesterday that Franks was boyfriend to one of the top people at FMFM that got a big kickback.

So, at this point I'm getting to the point where I don't care who is president. Whether it is McCain or Obama I will continue to get up each day, brush my teeth and work (hopefully).

But you know what is ugly to me on this board is the people who defend McCain are being bashed by the Obama supporters and then they turn around and say they are being picked on (again their stuck there in the victim mode).

Everyone is allowed their opinions, but don't bash the other side and then say poor me, we're being picked on and then call the other side intolerant and ugly.

Things that go against Obama being involved..(sm)

I think they nipped it in the bud this early so they could hold a state senate hearing to see if they can put the senate seat up for a vote instead of allowing him to make that decision.

Also, in the transcripts there was a part where the Gov said that Obama, that &*(@#$!, was not working with him.

Things could get worse with Obama..
nm
Yeah, think things are bad with Obama? Imagine
nm
Obama has other things to worry about: North Korea! Israel:Palestine etc...
Why are you so interested to know WHO visits the White House in top secret meetings?

This is not what Obama meant when he said...'I will open the White House...!
typo - meant cite things as hoax, not "site" things
Just thought I'd correct that before I get pummeled by the people who want to believe snopes is a truthful organization.
I agree. Mr. Obama is also, and the...
Jeremiah Wright thing brought that into light but...if you read these posts, it IS scary. I am reminded of the Pied Piper....while I am not 100% on John McCain, cannot vote for a man whose morality is the polar opposite of my own and I feel, personally, mmoves us even further down the path of destruction. When the moral fiber of a country goes south...you figure it out. This has become a country who views killing the unborn is nothing more than a medical procedure to the tune of millions every year, an "oops" method of birth control, and many of these people are wanting to install a President who believes it is ok to put a baby who survives an abortion (it happens) in a closet alone to die, and is still able to sleep at night. Never in my lifetime would I vote for a man or woman of ANY party who would vote in favor of that. Just my two cents. And yes, he did, while he was Illinois state senator. Beware of the wolf in sheep's clothing.

The center of this man's popularity is old as time itself. Class warfare..."I am going to punish all those nasty rich people (one of whom he is by the way) and give it all back to you poor oppressed bless your hearts, going to get you off welfare and get you a job (what a joke, half of the Democratic base would be gone), going to give you all free health care (even if the quality of said care tanks) and playing to that petty human emotion of "why should I have to work so hard when they have so much money" syndrome. Sigh. Who do they think employ most of the people in the United States? Those nasty rich people. Who do they think pays 75% of the taxes that are paid in this country already? Those nasty rich people. Why do they think those nasty rich people offshore? Because the Democratic tax and spend folks have been taxing them to DEATH in their own country for years. Here's a news flash for them! Have all the nasty rich DEMOCRATS pay more taxes. There is no law that says you can't. Let them put their money where their mouth is. If these people think only rich Republicans offshore or take every tax loophole the law allows...well, I won't even go THERE. Just wish folks would realize they are being led down the garden path. Can't see past the words and see the man. Can't put all the stuff together that has come out about the man, his behavior over several years and see him for what he is. They actually buy the story that he went to Wright's church for 20 years and never heard one of those sermons. Oh, COME ON. You cannot tell me he has lived with Michelle lo these many years when they do not share the same views on race and politics. Oh, COME ON. These "Obamaites" are being hijacked and led down the garden path by, I will admit, the best snake oil salesman I have seen in years...which is bad enough...but they are THRILLED to be led. LOL..sigh. I am reminded of the man who whistled on the way to the gallows...
i agree with that ... just not obama

I agree Obama is a breath

of fresh air and I love that he inspires people. However, I would encourage all Democrats, Independents, et al, to consider Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico. On the Democratic side, he has by far the best resume. He is a superior negotiator, served as head of the Department of Energy, sat at the UN, was an ambassador. Here is a link to his web site. It is quite lengthy, but you can scan over it and just look at the positions he has held and the things he has done.

I agree with M Obama - here is my post

This is the message I said I would post here.

In reply to the Clinton’s had nothing to do with the last 8 years.  This is absolutely correct, but the Clinton administration was just as bad before that.  The Clinton years were the worst of my adult life (and my friends and family who are staunch democrats).  So we’ve actually had 16 years of garbage for Presidents (20 if you consider Bush Sr.).  Government grew and paychecks shrunk.  Promises broken, tax increases (with the Clinton administration).  The Clintons did nothing for the middle income people.  Their “1% wealthiest” friends continued to receive more benefits.  Our families friends were losing their houses and had to go back to living with their parents as they could no longer afford to live anymore.  I think a lot of people forget the following:

Somalia – another unnecessary war

Kosovo – another unnecessary war

Elian Gonzales

Receiving money funded from china (treasonous tradeoffs I think it was called) for his re-election

Bill & Hillary stating they never heard of people (criminals who gave them money) when indeed they have pictures.

Hillary’s financial and other records sealed so nobody would find out the stuff she did (why?)

Monica Lewinski

Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Wiley, Juanitta Broderick, etc, etc,

Vince Foster (untimely passing)

Ron Brown (untimely passing)

Hillary pulls Bill off of D. Morris as Bill is getting ready to punch him in the face yelling at him “Bill, think about what your doing”.  Then walked around telling D. not to say anything to anyone.

Numerous times secret service had to pull Hillary of Bill

Hillary’s foul language

Hillary’s “female” relationships

Bill’s “female” relationships

Lying under oath

Impeached

Decimating our military within two weeks of being elected

Whitewater

Ban lifted on gays in the military

They destroyed and stole white house furniture and artifacts on their way out.  Urinated on carpets, walls, etc.  It was a real mess to clean up.

And those are only a few of the highlights of the Clinton administration.  She wants to take credit for anything good that happened, then she better take credit for the bad too.  Especially when she was running the show while Billy was off with his girlfriends.

They are both a couple of criminals and should have gone to jail for half the stuff they did.  So while the last eight years have been bad, the previous eight were just as bad. - And all my MIL can say to me is.... "oh but he's so good looking".

kind of have to agree with Obama on the
I'm sure the preacher is controversial. But for a person to maintain membership in a church for two decades, he or she cannot be supporting controversy all that time. The man seems to address past racially charged issues, some of which did go to the fact that Gosh did indeed darn America from a black perspective. It all depends upon one's point of view.

I do agree that Obama needs to speak more strongly in opposition to some of the more inflammable rhetoric Wright has used.

And Obama's closing words are good, too. Judge him and his views; not someone else's.

I think ABC is politicizing something.

Totally agree with you about Obama...sm
You wrote:

>> Saying he can't make speeches without a teleprompter or planned statement is just not true. He has spoken at several events without a teleprompter or prepared speeches and he can think on his feet just fine. I didn't hear him stumble over questions given by audience members or media.>>

I've seen Obama many times in interviews (on Nightline, for example, long before he was even the presumptive Dem. nominee) and he answers questions thoughtfully and intelligently. It's funny to me that anyone would criticize his speaking ability of all things.

Well, if Obama WOULD agree with your posts...
yet another huge reason not to vote for him. But I do not think for 1 minute he would. I cannot imagine this sort of ... tripe ... issuing from Barack Obama's mouth. If it did, he would be maligning a good portion of his base. But even that said...I don't believe he would. I believe he is a basically decent man...and basic decency should preclude anyone from posting this ... well to call it crap elevates it.
I agree, but congress will never let Obama
do everything he wants to do anyway. They never do for any president. When they do agree on something, congress will always have something in it for them or their interests and the middle class pays out nose for it.
Yes Obama is.........I agree completely.....

Then we agree that Obama and Rev Wright are

Agree; OBama's handling of this was excellent.
Now is the news media and political pundits would just leave it alone ...

I actually heard someone a bit ago on TV say "..makes you question her parenting skills if her daughter is pregnant". I just about threw a pillow at the TV!
I agree - I'm a democrat too, but not voting for Obama nm

I supported Obama at first too. Now I'd have to agree with Savage 100%.

and you agree with ever single thing Obama says
Knock yourself out--but I prefer to think for myself. I only pick the candidate I think is best--not perfect
I saw that Rahm said he does not agree with Obama on some subjects - but
he said that Obama will be the president and he will not be pushing his own ideas as they are so completely opposite on some things.

I agree. Wish Obama would go join Hollywood

I agree! Obama was never a practicing Muslim
and I think also not 'an every-day-to-church-running Christian'.
Moderation is the key.
I agree with Obama's decision to not show them. (sm)

It would embolden our enemies and help to recruit more terrorists.  I thought Obama, once again, listened to both sides and then made his decision.  If only Bush could have done that, instead of only hiring aides that would reflect HIS views and discarding those who didn't, including some of those "generals on the ground" that Bush claimed to honor.

I don't understand the posts below about Obama showing the photos.  Last I heard, the complete opposite was true.  Did something change, or are these comments just another attempt to completely ignore the truth in order to continue their assault on Obama, regardless of whether it's true or not?

Don't agree. I hope Obama gets to go back to the senate...
and see her there as VP... :)
Agree to disagree. I don't think we deserve Barack Obama...
and with his same stances on things, I wouldn't vote for him, I don't care what party he represented. It is not about party for me. It is about the stand of the man. And for me it is nobama, no way, no how...no matter what ticket he is running on.
Gourdpainter, I agree with you. So do most people since Obama is ahead of McCain.

McCain doesn't have any solutions except trying to get Palin to tear down Obama with her big mouth.

I agree, and am not an Obama supporter. Just tired of all the racial conflict sm
tired of everything being all about race. If they were both black candidates, then people could all just vote their conscience without even thinking about race.
I won't flame you! I totally agree. Obama as president only weakens
this country and makes us ripe for the end.  He does not support Israel.  Keep your eyes on Israel.  I look for them to bomb Iran before Bush's term is up because they know Obama will not suport them.
Agree! Obama is too busy screwing us to worry bout
xx
I agree neither choice is great, but will vote McCain just as a vote against Obama. nm
x
Family values....Obama's family can't even agree

Oh I can always tell when things are going your way
the diatribes ensue.
How do you get away with saying things like that exactly?

Two things:

1:  His approval rating as I write this has now decreased to 29%.  (However, by the time you read this, it may be even lower yet.  He is most definitely *a work in progress,* and the number of Americans who are waking up and smelling the proverbial coffee is increasing at a rapid rate.

2.  The fact that the government has been tracking phone calls of hundreds of millions of Americans may be nothing more than a political *parking ticket* compared to what we might discover next week.

NSA Whistleblower: There's More, People Are Going To Be Shocked

Fri May 12, 2006 at 04:38:00 PM PDT

From the subscription-only Congress Daily, Chris Strohm reports that NSA whistleblower Russell Tice will make some on bombshell revelations on Capitol Hill next week:

A former intelligence officer for the National Security Agency said Thursday he plans to tell Senate staffers next week that unlawful activity occurred at the agency under the supervision of Gen. Michael Hayden beyond what has been publicly reported, while hinting that it might have involved the illegal use of space-based satellites and systems to spy on U.S. citizens. Russell Tice, who worked on what are known as special access programs, has wanted to meet in a closed session with members of Congress and their staff since President Bush announced in December that he had secretly authorized the NSA to eavesdrop on U.S. citizens without a court order.  In an interview late Thursday, Tice said the Senate Armed Services Committee finally asked him to meet next week in a secure facility on Capitol Hill.

Tice was fired from the NSA last May. He said he plans to tell the committee staffers the NSA conducted illegal and unconstitutional surveillance of U.S. citizens while he was there with the knowledge of Hayden, who has been nominated to become director of the CIA. Tice said one of his co-workers personally informed Hayden that illegal and unconstitutional activity was occurring. [...] I think the people I talk to next week are going to be shocked when I tell them what I have to tell them. It's pretty hard to believe, Tice said. I hope that they¹ll clean up the abuses and have some oversight into these programs, which doesn't exist right now. [...]

Tice said his information is different from the Terrorist Surveillance Program that Bush  acknowledged in December and from news accounts this week that the NSA has been secretly collecting phone call records of millions of Americans. It's an angle that you haven't heard about yet, he said.

what 2 things
In the last paragraph of your post Re: The Other Side of Mel Gibson, you state,
There's two things that booze does. You omitted the second thing. What, in your opinion, is the second thing that booze does?
I get it. You really do think all those things....
just in poor taste to post them. We are on the same page now.
I believe three things

1. My eyes watching Scooter's conviction..  2.  Valerie Plame, the person who knows her situation best.  3. Patrick Fitzgerald.  Now there's a guy with a high IQ that was not manufactured by professional fact fixers.

Two things....
Obama has already said he was going to put a windfall profits tax against the oil companies...money earned by one person...and divvy it out in $1000 whacks to people who did nothing to earn it. That is redistribution of wealth and that is Marxist. He already said he was going to do it. Government run health care is socialism.

Second question...how is he going to pay for all that stuff you have listed there? Tax oil companies more? What do you think that will do to gas prices?

Just wondering.
What are those things

Can someone explain what those things are outside the RNC.  I understand wanting to protest and you hold a sign up showing your viewpoint and maybe you yell out something you believe in, but I can't understant what those things are that are wearing masks, being dragged away, having to be hosed down by the police.

What a nonsense and insane world they must live in.  I'm all for freedom speech, but this is beyond my understanding.

Also - don't they have jobs?  Do their employers allow them to take time off work to go do this and get arrested?  I want that job.  HA HA

A few things I would add...
This reply is picking up at the point after the main context regarding religion, which was addressed now under 2 separate posts.

The comments regarding basic human kindness. Is that a one-way street? What part of the Black Liberation Theology campaign which, if I recall corectly, you championed most vocally and most repetitively was not about race, politics or religion? If it's not two-way, it's a dead end. Perhaps leading by example would be a first step in the right direction.

With regard to welform, it is comforting to know that both candidates and both parties are on agreement and promote programs that tie welfare, jobs and training together. In terms of expecting welfare recipients to climb out of the "lower bracket," it is curious that you would hold them to an entirely different standard than you would the entire middle class, which again, if memory serves me, you claimed in a previous post in defense of tax cuts to the wealthy, fell into that same "lower bracket." To bankroll welfare that would raise the middle classes out of the "lower bracket" would most certainly appear socialist, and of course, we can't have any of that.

I am not aware of any candidate who seeks to "stifle" American ingenuity. Please enlighten us on that one. Are you referring to tax increases on individual incomes in excess of $250,000 or the proposals that would remove tax loopholes for large corporations? I am confused as to how that would "stifle" them. Our candidates seem to be in agreement on the need for government accountability and fiscal responsibility. Not soo sure how McCain proposes to go about it, but O has outlined his fiscal policies nicely here http://www.barackobama.com/issues/fiscal/ and has detailed him in his Blueprint for Change here http://origin.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForChange.pdf.

That unity Americans supposedly shared in the aftermath of 9/11 is what some people would characterize as shellshock after an act of war on our own soil. Seems that the present administrations's response to that attack over these past 8 years is exactly why the nation is so divided now. That shared experience is not something that can be taken back. One thing is for sure. The politics of fear that worked so well for them is not really working that well anymore, so there is no "going back;" there is only going forward from here.

Not quite sure what the prayer statement is trying to say, especially in the context of discrimination (?) against Christians. God is on the currency, but Jesus is not. If you are referring to prayer in school or any other public gathering, I'm afraid that could get pretty messy. Nothing against prayer or praying, but this being a country where all are free to practice their religion, then public places would need to have a prayer room and rug to accommodate the Moslem practice of call to prayer, meditation rooms for the Eastern faiths and the like. In assemblies led by Christian prayer, it probably would need to be followed by a prayers or readings from The Torah, The Holy Kitab, The Epistle to the Son of the Wolf, The Avesta, The Confucian Analects, The Doctrin of the Mean, The Holy Mencius, The Great Learning, The Holy Quran, The Hadith, The Holy Akaranja Sutra, The Holy Kalpa Sutra, The Holy Kojiki, The Holy Nihongi, The Holy Tao Te Ching, The Holy Chuang Tzu, The 4 Vedas, The Upanishads, the 18 Puranas, the Bhagavid Gita…see what I mean? Kinda messy. There is a reason our forefathers had the insight to provide for the PRIVATE practice of religion.

On the abortion issue. This is easy. All people do have their say. That's why we have choice. Free to exercise the choice to have or NOT to have an abortion. To remove choice is anything but free. So you want quality, affordable, portable health care for all, lower costs, etc. Here's a plan you might consider. http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/

Thank you for saying things that I have
been trying to say. Thank you for standing up for Jesus. Thank you for not being afraid to say how you feel. I, too, am a born-again believer and I am terribly burdened by what I have read on this board. I am shocked that so many of my co-workers do not believe in prayer, or even in God. I guess this is something I have always just taken for granted. Once again, thank you for your courage.

One thing we can do, as believers, we can pray for wisdom in making our decisions who we will vote for in this election. Also, whoever is elected, we can lift them up daily for strength and wisdom and God's will in the decisions they make for our great country!
If you don't like things the way they are NOW, and you
most definitely that you were intellectually challenged.
