Shirtless Obama Makes Washingtonian Cover

The May cover of Washingtonian magazine features those paparazzi photos of a shirtless Barack Obama strolling the beach in Hawaii last year. The photo illustrates the magazine's "Reasons We Love Washington," the #2 reason for which is "Our new neighbor is hot."

Ah, but Obama's cover....

...is that things are SO MUCH WORSE than he was lead to believe during the campaign. Much was concealed from him. He inherited such a big mess and he had absolutely no idea how much work there would be.   And when his policies fail, as they are destined to do, he will have made a ruin of our entire way of life and can still blame the whole thing on Bush.  It's a no-lose situation for Obama.

The Obama campaign became almost a cult experience.  People wailing and crying and fainting.  The promise of free stuff:  *If I help him, he'll help me.  I won't have to worry about filling my gas tank and paying my mortgage.*  This is exactly what got Obama elected.  Smooth, slick, TelePrompTer dependent without appearing to be, well packaged and carefully managed, lots of emotional appeal.  Those who voted for him bought sizzle.  The sizzle is starting to fizzle, and there will never be a steak.

Double standard doesn't cover Obama

Obama makes a funny

Said when McCain talks about taking on the Old boys network in Washington, it is called a staff meeting.  He's so clever, and young, and vital.

I am a lifelong Democrat and this makes me happy, I am not voting for Obama sm
I honestly DO NOT care what color his skin is! I also don't really care that Sarah Palin doesn't have a dingle dangle between her legs either. These things do NOT matter.

I would not vote for Obama because as far as I am concerned, he thinks he stands for being a minority. We are headed into another Depression or at least recession. Education in this country is a sick joke. The housing market is crashing. On and on. It is a LOT of gloom and doom and I can't see where Obama stands on ANYTHING. Milquetoast all the way around.

I am not exactly a McCain fan. I met him in 1976, not so very long after he returned from Vietnam. I was a kid and he had a profound impact. I am NOT a Republican, I DO NOT like their platform and I am NOT a conservative...but by golly I will vote for him. I think he can do the job and I think he has ideas. Some of them are wrong to be sure, but he HAS SOME.

As for Sarah Palin, she is not afraid of much I suspect. She wasn't afraid to bring a Down syndrome child into the world and commit to raising him. She had young ones at home, but that didn't stop her going up for office. Fearless and gutsy, brave and standing behind her convictions, such as no abortions...yes I can respect her even if I don't agree with her.

I looked at a picture of her and I saw someone who will likely BE president, and not the VP in the fullness of time. I saw a REAL woman, not a fake, not a politician. Can she be president without making mistakes? No, but no one else can either. She knows what it is to run a household, so yes I think she can run the country. A woman can tell you it is just the same, only bigger and that isn't important to please all the children all the time, but to get the job DONE.
Obama was born in Kenya, which makes him uneligible to be President...nm

Fox did not cover it because the Fox
did not have a news department then.

Yes, I read your message. Did read you mine?
They only cover 2 candidates because
we don't demand that they do otherwise.  Power to the people!!!!
Nice cover - but you know what the COS's job is, right?
Obama would not pick as his Chief of Staff a man who wasn't eye-to-eye on the majority of issues. It's basically the president's wing man. No one's going to buy the notion that Obama picked Emanuel as a counterbalance to his own ideas. He picked him because they share common beliefs, which some of us find a little frightening (like mandatory military-style training and/or service).
Cover up the Prez!! Have you guys seen this?

The MSM did cover it, but all positive spin. sm
They said the troops were unarmed. No mention of FEMA thwarting relief efforts either.

Here is an article archived on Alex's page about some of it. Of course, since it did not come from Fox News it can't be believable.

I suppose they should cover the mirrors
and rend their clothes in grief instead? They are busting their butts to get things done. I think a little laughter, joy and goodwill is necessary as well as healthy. But, I suspect you would neither understand nor APPROVE of anything you deem "frivolous." The Dow has been up for 4 days running, at least 3 major banks are seeing profits and are stating they no longer require any bailout money.........Bringing in Congress and various insiders for a weekly get-together is a good way to inspire and promote goodwill.....but I guess the WH is something to look at - not live in.
This is inappropriate for a magazine cover
This should go in the National Enquire, Star or something. Sure he's in good physical shape, but whether you think he is nice looking or not is all a matter of opinion. My MIL thought Bill Clinton was "the bees knees" saying "I wouldn't kick him out of my bed, or he can park his shoes under my bed. I felt like throwing up every time I saw him. But, pics of shirtless leaders should should stay in the tabloids. he is supposed to be a leader. This goes to show more and more that he is not. As someone said he's acting like a "Hollywood wannabe". This is not the actions of someone who is supposed to be a stateman, the leader of a country. If you're going to put the pic of a country's leader on the front cover of a magazine they should be properly attired. Could be one of the reasons why most don't refer to him as President Obama, but rather as Mr. Obama.
I don't think he sent the picture to the magazine to be placed on the cover -
My goodness, ya'll would blame him no matter what. He does not decide what picture goes on the cover of a magazine - the Editor of the magazine decides.

And, I do not think that being President of the United States means you cannot go to the beach anymore or have a vacation with your family without covering yourself and if someone wants to take a picture of him in that way, then what can he do?

You want freedom of the press, freedom of speech, no censorship, etc., but then you are wanting to censor this magazine!
Better cover your eyes, if you're so squeamish.

Your pathetic attempt to try to cover up the fact...(sm)
that there is no basis for the comment above (that being that Obama is taking rights away) by trying to distract the conversation by attacking me personally does nothing but show the absolute absurdity of the republican party's talking points.
I think the vanity fair cover was not a smart thing for her to do...sm

You're right. They cover their ears, close their eyes,
what they're taught in Bible School, I suppose.

They must figure that if they bore their opponents with their nonstop jabbering, that when that person finally gets fed up and walks away, they have somehow 'won'. WHAT they think they've 'won' is beyond me.

The booby-prize, perhaps?

Makes me wonder...

... if he truly said that or if Bush forced him to say it, so we can show how *honest* we were when we promised we'd leave when the *Iraqis* wanted us out.  The timing of this is just too ironic, considering it's on the heels of Murtha's PLAN involving Iraq.  It seems to be more of a response to an angry America than an actual plan.

It's really sad to be this skeptical, but unfortunately, I can't take anything involving Bush at face value, considering the numbers of lies the world has been fed from this administration.  By extension, I have to be suspect of things said by Iraqui leaders, who may be spoon-fed what they're *allowed* to say in their new *democracy* (promoting, of course, freedom of speech)!

What makes you think we don't have that?
?
Makes me wonder if she/they truly
want a free America, or something else.  Someone else in history also liked to ban books, but we don't want to say his name, or even imagine anything like that could happen to America.  There is a very clear choice between two dynamics. Can't understand why anyone who knows their own mind has a hard time deciding on a candidate this year.
Makes me like him even more! (nm)

This just makes me want to cry.

What has our country become?  I always knew that politicians were crooks, but for them to run our country into the ground just to line their own pockets.....it just absolutely disgusts me.  All these politicians who received significant money from these companies......do you think they will suffer.  No....it will be us who pay for all of this.  Government as a whole has royally screwed us all with this.

This whole bail out thing has me so fuming mad I can't hardly see straight.  I'm terrified that if we don't do it....we will collapse.  I'm terrified that if we do it....it will only slow down but the collapse will still come...only later.  I'm mad that they want to bail them out and screw the rest of us.  I truly hope that there is another solution to this crisis other than a bail out.

I want the phuckers who deliberately screwed us through their own greed....I want them to pay for this.  I want them to be held accountable.  Instead, they lined their pockets, get bailed out, and it is the little people that lose out.

I am sick to death of hearing politicians getting on TV and blaming the other party when they themself received a substantial amount of money from these banks going under that are currently wanting bailed out.  Stop playing the blame game and just come up with a plan that will benefit the tax payers and not just the big wigs who screwed us in the first place!  Stop pointing fingers, grow up, and think of our country and not your own personal bank account.

If I see Obama point his finger at another person again instead of taking a good look in the mirror at himself.....I seriously will scream.  He has received so much money from these people and yet he claims no blame at all.  What an arrogant b@st@rd!!!  What ever happened to taking responsibility for your actions?  I guess that doesn't exist anymore....just blame it on the next sucker.

Actually, makes me wonder what is
camp. He is too organized and sly like a fox, there has to be some meaning to the madness.
Makes you wonder...........sm
just exactly what the Pentagon is expecting. They say timing is everything.
Are you serious? What makes you think
that Republicans are to blame for even this? Come on. It is terrible and I think that something like this cannot be blamed on a political party. It can only be blamed on those who did it. I am a Republican who would not be caught dead at a Black Friday sale. I went to one once and cannot stomach another. Many of my conservative friends and my conservative husband feel the same way.
That makes 2 of us...(sm)
bull-headed stubborn people, that is....LOL.

Makes me think of that old saying...

A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have. Sad...

It makes you wonder though

as many countries that have hostages by these pirates....you would think these pirates would be taken out.  I mean...we know where they live, etc.  It seems kind of crazy that a group of somali pirates can terrorize several countries to taking over ships.  Maybe if ship crews were taught how to use guns and each ship was armed heavily and they could blow these pirates out of the water before they even get aboard......

You would just think something would be done about these A--holes.

See, the posting was supposed to be humorous.  It made me laugh out loud, several times.  This is called the LIBERAL board and it's provided for us liberals to post our thoughts as well as post serious items as well as humorous items.  Please keep this in mind.  If you have a problem with this humorous article please complain about it on the CON board.

This makes me crabby.

I believe the biggest problem our world is facing right now is overpopulation.  I would think even the Lord would recognize that. That said, I would also comment that this woman's genitals as well as her husband's are under their own personal control, not the Lord's.

My other thought is that it seems likely that you would ever really really get to know any of your children while they were growing up with that many kids.  My boyfriend is from a family of 8 children and he and his brothers all agree that they were basically raised by their older sisters and had no real quality relationship with their mother until they were much older.  I'm not saying that is automatically the case, but simply often turns out to be the case.

That's probably because this is what makes sense to you.
Perhaps you could be a translator for us?

If one were to measure progress on the number of suiciders, if that's your definition of success, I think it gives -- I think it will -- I think it obscures the steady, incremental march toward democracy we're seeing. In other words, it's very difficult -- you can have the most powerful army of the world -- ask the Israelis what it's like to try to stop suiciders. ...That's the -- but that's one of the main -- that's the main weapon of the enemy, the capacity to destroy innocent life with a suicider. ...Trying to stop suiciders -- which we're doing a pretty good job of on occasion -- is difficult to do. And what the Iraqis are going to have to eventually do is convince those who are conducting suiciders who are not inspired by al Qaeda, for example, to realize there's a peaceful tomorrow.
