First of all, other than the obvious damage control (spinning) Ms. Rice is doing, what are the comparisons of Iraqi War to America's Civil War?? Second, isn't her not my department response to Katrina just the biggest taletell sign that it is time for her and her boss to go?

Secretary of State Rice compared the Iraq war with the American Civil War, telling a magazine that slavery might have lasted longer in this country if the North had decided to end the fight early.
I'm sure there are people who thought it was a mistake to fight the Civil War to its end and to insist that the emancipation of slaves would hold, Rice said in the new issue of Essence magazine.
I know there were people who said, 'Why don't we get out of this now, take a peace with the South, but leave the South with slaves?' Rice said.
Rice also bristled at the notion that the Bush administration's slow response last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was because of the race of the majority of the victims.
I resented the notion that the President of the United States, this President of the United States, would somehow decide to let people suffer because they were black, Rice told the magazine.
I found that to be the most corrosive and outrageous claim that anybody could have made, and it was wholly and totally irresponsible.
Asked if she felt personally accountable, Rice said, The government did its best. People aren't perfect, and this response was not perfect. You know, I do foreign policy, I don't run Homeland Security. I don't run FEMA. I do foreign policy. She added, I did what I could to coordinate the international response.

The poster to whom I responded had absolutely nothing to offer except a childish one liner about Kool-Aid, which she couldn't even spell correctly. It is clear she hates President Obama and resents the fact that the majority of the country voted for him.
It is my personal opinion that President Obama is doing a fabulous job, and I am entitled to express my opinion just as much as you or anyone else on this forum.

All politicians are evil. That is why we have switched control from pubs to dems and our country is still going down the crapper. That isn't change. They only complain when the other side spends and screws the American people but it is fair play when it is their political party doing all the spending.
Obama is not doing a good job. If we was, there wouldn't be so many tea parties, etc. Moderate democrats aren't even on board with what he is doing either. Our country is quickly changing for the worse and yes...Bush started it....but Obama is going to finish it and he is pushing it as quickly as he can. He has blatantly lied and the media has given him a pass. The man has broken so many promises and is spending so much money that we don't have. He is ruining us and all people like you do is refuse to see what he is actually doing. You just listen to his smooth teleprompter speeches and watch with gaga gaga eyes and drool while you believe every lie that comes out of his mouth.

We are also shopping for a new car
and I am so fed up with the sales people!
I understand that they have to hustle to get you to buy a car, but the one we talked to is borderline stalking now. He sends me emails, calls, etc wanting to know if we are still interested. I told him last week that we bought a car already (lied but tired of hearing from him) and he called me again this week! Wanted to know if I liked it or if I'd like to trade it for something else!
My husband told him off the last time he called. It was okay the first and second time he called, but the tenth or eleventh is a little extreme. I kept waiting for him to show up at our house!

My guess is that DHS knew very well that this report WOULD be leaked to the press (they had "don't leak to press" on the first page), and used it to try to suppress attendance at the tea parties. The timing is MIGHTY suspicious.

Weird car shopping experience
Late last fall I was making the rounds of used car lots. Did not see anything I liked and three salesmen made a big show of writing down what I was looking for and taking my phone number. I was afraid I would be swamped with calls, even if they did not get anything remotely near what I wanted. However, nobody called - ever. This has severely damaged the image I've always had about car salesmen as pests! I think things were rough even six months ago, and wondering why they let a hot prospect like me get away. I did end up getting a car....

For convention coverage minus spinning, bashing, biased
Tired of attack politics? Don't need reporters telling you what you just saw or what to think about it? Want a one-on-one convention experience? Want to digest the content without the interference of disconcerting and distracting commentary? Want to be in charge of deciding what is and what is not pertinent during the course of the conventions? Do anchors and networks promoting their own hidden agendas get under your skin as they invent issues of no consequence, discount messages of great importance and try to stir up conflict? Do you find most coverage obnoxious, rude and insulting to your intelligence? Does their reporting look and sound like make believe? Do you think our candidates, conventions, parties, issues, policies and political process deserve more dignity than a big-top circus/carnival presentation?
The solution is easy. Switch that channel. Try CSPAN. Not to worry. If you feel you are missing something in the way of staying abreast with the pundit's play-by-play smear scripts, you can always get caught up on all those issues the next time you log onto MT Stars political forum.

There is no Air America scandal and certainly nothing you can(reasonably, although we know you don't take that seriously)blame Rachel Maddow for. Air America's former CEO made some bad decisions (gee, that never happens does it?) because he had connections with the charity in question and the fledgling AA was in trouble. However, that was HIS mistake and he is no longer at AA (yes, some people actually get rid of poor performers, unlike our WH). AA didn't do anything wrong and there are no charges against them because there's nothing to prosecute. DESPITE that they have acknowledged that they feel badly about the entire affair and have offered to repay the money even though they are not obligated to do so. I'd say that's far from scandalous - and very much unlike anything you'd see a NeoCon do - they don't pay back ANYBODY even when it IS their fault. Why, here you have the Republican governor of Kentucky under investigation and he declares he's going to use the power of the office to PARDON HIMSELF. Nice schtick if you can get it, huh.
And when are you going to give up and admit defeat anyway? Still waiting for Karl Rove to flood the airwaves with his particularly sour mutilation of the truth? You can't win this one no matter how many radio stations you try to smear. You're all suddenly looking pretty sallow standing there in the spotlight all by yourselves. Face it - Bush will never live this down. His appointments will never live this down. They did wrong, the whole world has seen it. Even Shepard Smith and Geraldo have seen it. I didn't support Clinton's foray into Bosnia. A lot of the quotes from Tom DeLay have good points, much as I hate to admit it. So why can't he see that now? And why can't Bush? As I said, I am a normal woman, have three children, six grandchildren, and a husband who is a blue-collar worker. As for stupid, this VP choice of McCain's is stupid. Seriously, she has no credentials for being the leader of the USA in a time of war, in a time of major economical challenges. Governor of Alaska?....mayor of a small town?....that's it?.... Why aren't you VP? I am sure you have as much knowledge as she does. She said she doesn't know anything about Iraq, although her son is going there, and said she doesn't know what a VP does.... Honestly, if I was governor of any state, I would not even ask "what does a VP do?" I would go find out for myself. Any drive to do her own investigating? Any curiosity? Do you seriously think she could be President of the US if something happens to John McCain? America has far too many problems to gamble on a way too outside chance.
As for Obama's arrogance, that is something you heard and repeat like a mina bird. Guess what? There is arrogance in every one of these politicians, otherwise they would not be in the public eye. My post was meant to challenge the assumption that all midwesterners fit into the coastal stereotypes created for them as enumerated. abort with no questions asked because it is her uterus and no one's business. Yet you wish to take away the rights of people who don't believe in abortion and work in the medical field. No job should require you to do something that you find unethical. If you want to abort your child....fine....that is your decision and one that you will have to answer for and live with. So many people are on here screaming about their rights and how dare their rights be taken away. Forcing someone in the medical field to be involved in something they feel is unethical......isn't that taking away their rights. They have a right to refuse. There are other people in the medical field who would willingly perform an abortion....so why force those who find it unethical? That is just wrong.

Hi American Woman! Come on back here regularly. We have some really good liberal posters now. Yes, Im in CA. The fires are all around me but havent come to the desert yet (where I am). They have been moving towards the ocean instead (opposite direction). With a change of the wind, though, the fires could change direction, then they would come over the Sierra Nevada Mountains to get to the desert. About two years ago a fire came up over the mountains and you could see it from my house and the air was thick with smoke and soot. Was quite scary..but the firefighters were able to get it out. Yup, CA, the land of mudslides, wildfires, earthquakes, torrential rains (when it does rain..smile). So good to hear from ya..Come on back here. The board isnt the same without ya. :o).

Comparing the statements...and the person who made them...I would say there is no room to accuse Sarah Palin about her husband than to accuse Obama and his wife about their pastor/mentor/friend who married them and baptized both of their children.
