The Perfect Storm. SM
America Will Reject the Race Exploiting Demagogues of the New Orleans Tragedy

by Keith Thompson

Saturday 10 September 2005, 6:35 pm

MSNBC ran a ticker headline Friday identifying dead bodies, debris, human waste and chemicals as prominent contents of the toxic flood waters. It’s no surprise, and curiously fitting, that the national media all week has been awash with the cultural equivalent: noxious, vile proclamations by the America’s foremost moral pretenders, atrocity addicts, all-purpose grifters and incendiary race hustlers: Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Cynthia McKinney, and Maxine Waters — with auditions from aspiring race-mongering demagogues Kanye West and Michael Eric Dyson.

Each of these self-congratulatory progressive activists has labored to exploit the New Orleans catastrophe as an onslaught against black America. Collectively they possess moral authority equivalent to the two scammers who used an amputated finger in an attempted shakedown of Wendys. Let’s be clear about the lineage these bottom feeders are part of. The opportunistic race-based ghouls who have made New Orleans their haunt are not different from David Duke, in either kind or degree. The activists now working overtime to incite race hatred — doing so in the name of “justice” and “civil rights” — deserve the same accolades and mantles as the klansmen who terrorized blacks, Jews, Catholics, and white civil rights workers in another decade.

Like the vulgar, hate-driven white racists who read aloud from Bibles in church the morning after lynching, burning and raping, these morally bankrupt representatives of today’s civil rights elite represent the last gasp of a morally unregenerate worldview. And like the Klan of yore, they (and their enablers Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Richard Cohen, and Hillary Clinton) grow more desperate and deranged as the moderate American mainstream rejects their quest to rip open the nation’s past racial wounds for temporary partisan advantage.

Efforts to turn New Orleans into the cultural equivalent of Rwanda are repugnant to everything about America than makes moral sense. Lincoln spoke of the better angels of human nature, implying the existence of something very much worse. Every schoolboy knows the proper counterpart is demon. The moral scammers now inciting race hatred in the wake of the Louisiana nightmare will fail. And the movement they represent will ultimately fail, because it is more than wrong or simply false, it is cancerously self-canceling. The body politic will cast off this disease and will do so to preserve its well being, vitality, and wholeness.

But the end of this fight is not near. The mainstream media is highlighting the preposterous claims of America’s hate apostles because the MSM sees an opportunity not simply to negate the past two presidential elections, but to reverse the general trend away from the cultural corrections (anti-welfare state, pro-national defense) that Reagan’s 1980 victory represented. The American left has been licking its chops for years, hoping for the political equivalent of a perfect storm: the ideal convergence of forces that would yield a return to normalcy for expanding the gutter of identity politics and apologizing to the world at large for everything American. The left longs for a return of Carter’s malaise because that will reinforce the left’s longstanding antagonism toward the resurgence of personal responsibility and national pride since 9-11.

The unconscionable quest to exploit the human misery of New Orleans sickens me more than I can say. I was with my family at a Florida hospice, attending to my mother as she lay dying from cancer, when Katrina came ashore, wreaking human and physical loss only miles away. We were all aware that our personal loss would be shared by many hurricane victims, and that the American people would do what we always do: rally to help the wounded, the sick, and the bereaved. It never occurred to us — not even remotely — on August 25, the day mom passed away, that leaders of this nation’s so-called progressive community would even consider using a natural tragedy as an occasion to further their now familiar By Any Means Necessary campaign against this country and its traditions.

Then again, neither did I expect that there would be 250 demonstrations on American campuses against the United States responding militarily to the September 11 attacks, as David Horowitz has so aptly described. Naïvete dies hard, but there’s a positive side. It’s extremely hard to resuscitate.

Why not? He can't stop the storm.
The individual people did not prepare. They are the only ones accountable. The national guard and disaster medical assistant teams are always staged close by. It was so weird after Katrina listening to the politicans and leaders criticize FEMA because FEMA already does so much. FL has had soo many storms and FEMA was never criticized like it was with Katrina! It's just the opposite they are happy when they hear it was made a federal disaster becuase they know FEMA will help.

The government can't make people use their brains and store water, grandola bars and life jackets.
If people ignore warnings they are to blame. What is very sad is for the elderly and disabled. If healthy able bodied people don't take care of themself they obviously are not checking on their elderly family and friends who are the most vulnerable.

The government has things set up like the NHC and the AF hunters to provide us warnings.

Katrina was hurricane during hurricane season in a city by the Gulf. They acted like the people in a hostage situation with no warning.

I think the RNC should go on with occasional references to prayers and good wishes to those in the storms path. LOL it will give us something to listen to on the radio. :) There is so much waiting waiting waiting it would be nice to listen to.

There isn't anything anyone can do anyone, once the storm starts. When it's over unless Bush is going to drive a clean up truck to help clear the roads so the utility crews can start working there is no reason for him no be here immediately. I am sure he is not experienced with that and would injure himself. The best thing anyone can do is stay home immediately after the storm and let the roads clear. Then Home Depot can open and the National Guard will set up water and MRE stops. If Bush showed up four or five days later that would be nice for moral. He should address the people listening on the radio during and after the storms just to give encouragement.

When do the storm troopers show up

with flame throwers to torch my garden?  Will I be able to harvest anything this year?   Next spring, maybe if I plant a screen of marijuana plants around the vegetables, that will disguise them as something no longer regulated.   Probably home-preserved food will be verboten; I imagine if I want Mason jars or a dehydrator, I'd better get them now?

BTW, anyone wanting a good doomsday book (how to survive when it all goes to hades in a handbasket)  should read Lucifer's Hammer by Larry Niven.  Usually it's in the sci-fi section but it really is more speculative fiction about what happens when an unbelievable natural disaster (about which nobody heeds the warnings) hits the planet.  I think O might qualify in the natural disaster category.

Obama is th perfect storm for socialism.....
xx
And to go a bit further into history, Daddy Bush had to do Desert Storm.....sm
"for the freedom of the Kuwaiti people", even though the average Kuwaiti at the time was far more prosperous than the average American, we were shown the peasants on the borders. Ethnic cleansing goes on for generations on the African continent, but do we rush in there to save the people. Nope. We don't have oil, or any other money-making interests there! Guess where the Bush family got most of their wealth....Bingo, oil wells! Now, let's connect the dots on this. Osama Bin Ladin himself (may he rot in he!!) said in many interviews and videos that the Jihaad started the moment Daddy Bush did not heed the warning and stay out of the Muslim desert. We went, and THAT is what started all the POINTED ATTACKS on Americans. So if you really want to trace things back, it goes back to Bush, the first one! JMHO. And oh, just what was it we accomplished with Desert Storm besides securing those Kuwaiti oil fields????

You are right on track???
Jeez I am glad that you are not my mother. I was taught we are all the same, black, white, gay, hispanic, etc.

You on the other hand, fill your young daughter's head with hate. You my friend, scare me with your teachings and hate.
Again... WHERE DID I SAY I HAVE AN INSIDE TRACK?

What you copied and pasted was an opinion which I stated.

Nowhere in any of my posts do I claim to have an *inside track* to anything.  That's YOUR ridiculous claim, not mine!

LOL. You really should keep closer track of
the news and the economy.
I think everyone kind of got off track on
your post. In reference to to the clip you posted, no one thinking clearly could defend what this thing was saying to Olberman. Quite obviously, she was on something and by him agreeing with her, her her was just showing his usual stupidity. The folks on MSNBC and CNN are so captivated by fear and it has become so obvious, they are losing and they know it!

I have laughed so much over the past couple of days. Obviously, if they would have just let it go, they would not have made nearly as big of fools of themselves!! But, the bigger thing they make of the tea parties, the bigger fools they make of themselves!!!
you hit it right on track again - what is the poster's point.
I can't for the life of me understand what the posters point is, and there are so many names flying I don't know if its different posters or the same. Reading them I'm hearing someone who won't vote for her because she was in a beauty pagent. People are saying she doesn't have brains but they don't give any reasons. Why, because she's pretty? I'd rather see someone with her looks up there before someone like Hillary. With Hillary her ugliness goes deep withing because she is also ugly on the inside. Sarah Palin, is a beautiful person both inside and out. It's just beyond my comprehension how someone can come out and say something like that and when you tell them the facts of her experience, high approval ratings, and things she has done to make peoples lives better. They just don't want to hear it and no matter how many facts are there they just don't want to hear it. I'm sure these are the same people who believe the Algore global warming theory too.

It's just astounding. More so because I was like that (cutting her down because I liked Barack and Biden without even knowing anything about her). I'm glad I did my research. She is one smart lady. If we have any hopes for a better future for our nation I'm looking at her.

Oh yes...for all those who keep saying whats-her-name.....It's Sarah Palin. That's Sarah Palin....SARAH PALIN. You know S.A.R.A.H. P.A.L.I.N. Thought I'd repeat it a few times in different ways because you obvious are not capable of remembering. So if you can't remember her name, please come back here for a reference.
Go Gov. Palin - looks like California is on the right track

Good article.

Your boy Jim Cramer's track record
http://www.cxoadvisory.com/gurus/Cramer/

In short, as of 01/18/2009, Jim Cramer has been correct about his market predictions about 46% of the time, a little below average. You'd have been better off with a no-load index fund than Cramer's picks.

Read about his "stock of the year" NYSE Euronext debacle in 2007.

http://www.stocktagger.com/2007/07/jim-cramer-track-record-on-nyse.html

In short, Euronext lost 20% of its value since his "growth stock of the year" recommendation, despite flogging it repeatedly on his show and even bringing the CEO on his show and grilling him on why his stock was going down the tubes.

If Jim Cramer has an opinion on anything, the smart money choice is to do the opposite. This includes his opinion on the stimulus.
I have honestly lost track on how many of O's picks

I agree lets get down to business. What can we do to get our party on track?
I agree with the democratic party philosophy, BUT I am getting a little sick of seeing the far left get all of the media attention making ridiculous arguments like taking a 10 Commandment plaque down from a courthouse OR the NYCLU or ACLU running amuck on their tangents and claiming democratic party affiliation. When the American people see this type of thing on TV they think we are a joke, and IMO these groups do not have the democratic party's interest in mind. It's like they'll do anything to be on the front page, and what they are doing is hijacking our party in a nutshell.

Now, to be fair, part of the problem could be that they only get NEGATIVE press, we don't hear about all of the good things the ACLU does (or has done).
And where did she dig up those names? Twig, Trig, Trick, Track,
Terrible thing to do to a kid.
I use Yahoo, heard they don't keep track of the searches indefinitely

So now we taxpayers are expected to pay for a motorsports racing track facility and a mine rescue tr
What the ... ?

A tax exemption for wooden arrows made for use by children?

And economic development for American Samoa?

An increase in the rum excise tax for Puerto Rico?

Do these senators think we CAN'T read? Or just hoping that we WON'T?
and all he needed was one win,

as he KNEW he would get it in 2004!!

I needed that :)

He got done what he needed to get done...
before he went back to Washington the only people who were represented in the so-called meetings were senators. There was no representation for the Republican side of the house of representatives. There was no "agreement in principle." The plan as it is now was not going to pass the house anyway, so it would have wasted precious time. We now have 4 guys with both house and senate represented hammering out the details. That is light years away from where it was yesterday, because when they come out in agreement, they will have a bill that will pass without delay. There is no good reason for him to miss the debate now. If he had not gone to washington and asked the president to bring ALL the leaders, house and senate, and he and Obama, this would not have happened. It brought the spotlight OFF the presidential campaign and ONTO the congress to get something done. I think he did exactly the right thing, no matter how the pundits on either side try to spin it. He still has my vote, even more solidly. That is the kind of man I want in the white house. Not one who will handle an emergency like a looming financial crisis with his blackberry instead of his presence in the name of multitasking. It did not take long for me to see where Obama's priorities are. With Obama.
To me he has been way short of Presidential in this issue, in my opinion.

Mccain did not care if it hurt his campaign or what people would think of him doing it...he did it because he realized the importance of a quick resolution and he acted on that. Again, put his country ahead of his political ambitions. Yes indeed, THAT is the attitude I want in the white house. If you prefer the blackberry approach, that is certainly your right.
Thanks, we needed that.

sarcasm not needed really.

I just was not clear on her preference in this election.

that's okay - I just said we needed something in place nm

Bravo to you, this needed to said on here because she
is the biggest hypocrite of all.
I know - sure needed a laugh here
Lifes too short to let things get to you. Of course people get mad (especially on this board), but after a few new posts it is forgotten. What really made me wonder was a post I read that said the OP was asking someone to be banned for what they wrote 3 or so pages back. Then when I read the witch hunt comment that's exactly what I thought too. Then when I saw both original post and reply I could not tell who was for what and who was mad about what, and it just got me laughing. I'm glad this is topic is turning humorous though. I'm reading all the funny posts and one thing I think all MTs have in common is a good sense of humor.
That made my day. I needed a lift. nm

The mansion was over 100 years old. It needed...
to be upgraded. It costs about $10 a month to run a tanning bed, if that much. Costs more to run a clothes dryer.

Like I said, let's see what has been added to all the governor's mansions in the lower 48 and what THEIR electric bills are, shall we?

She is a maverick in that she does not run in lock step with her party, which is what that term means. While she is a former mayor, she is also a sitting governor, and it is as a sitting governor she is running for VP. More than a few sitting governors have also run for President.
ROFL. Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.
.
HA, that was a good one. thanks for the laugh! I needed it!

I would say he has shown it to the people that he needed to -- nm

The world needed a little humor, and once again,

Thanks! I needed a laugh today.

Yes, we needed the Arab Emirates...
to protect our ports! That was brilliant!! And look what a great job he's done with protecting our citizens and assisting them with the last 2 hurricanes. Heckuva job, Bushie! Don't forget to put Harriett Myers on the supreme court! He must be a brainiac! His instincts are superhuman! Mission Accomplished! - the way he landed on that ship - my hero! he even wore that banana hammock so well!! Woo-hoo! We must be the most admired country in the whole world!!
I found it. I just needed to change
It is something the individual states are doing and has nothing to do with a federal mandate to change the age limits.

**About 30 percent of Americans ages 19 through 29—13.7 million individuals in 2006—do not have health coverage.[2] No longer considered dependents, they often lose coverage at age 19 or upon high school or college graduation. In fact, 38 percent of high school graduates who do not attend college and one-third of college graduates are uninsured for some period of time during the year after graduation.[3]

Illinois is among a growing cadre of states trying to reduce the number of uninsured young adults by extending the time they can remain on their parents' insurance policies. Twenty-four states have moved from allowing insurers to set their own dependent age limits to defining dependent to include older children.[4] Most commonly, these states have extended the dependent age limit to "up to" age 24, 25, or 26. All states require the dependent to be unmarried. Some states set two age limits; for example, Idaho defines dependent as up to age 21 if unmarried, and from ages 21 to 25 if unmarried, a full-time student, and financially dependent on parents. New Jersey has set the highest age limit: young adults can retain coverage as dependents through age 30 if they are unmarried, uninsured, have none of their own dependents, and are either a resident of the state or a full-time student. To protect against the potential for young adults to wait to join their parents' plan until they need health services, New Jersey requires that young adults apply to continue coverage within 30 days from when they would have previously aged off of a policy, or during an open enrollment period.
Billions More Needed for Rescue?

This is over and above the new so-called stimulus package.

In my local newspaper, it states "More proposals waiting in wings" then it goes on to state "The obama adminstration is developing proposals to help rescue the banking system that could cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars beyond the $700 bililion bailout Congress already has approved.

Details are still being worked out but the administration is looking to spend hundreds of billions more to address the foreclosure crisis, help banks get out from under weighty bad assets and expand liquidity programs."

I'm really starting to get sick literally over this. We can't spend billions of dollars when the money isn't coming into the treasury.  We can't printing money without anything to back it up.

If any of you think these packages will not help the economy, please, I'm almost begging you, email or call your reps and get it stopped.

Thanks - I needed a laugh (no message)

I don't think we'll see what is needed in this country.....sm
...until we look beyond the Republican and Democratic parties. They've simply become self limiting, and the country switches back and forth between them.

I honestly believe we need to look at independent candidates who have NO ties to either party in order for this country to move forward and dig ourselves out from under.....if that's even possible at this late date.
I needed a good laugh today.
LOL!!!  This was great.  Thanks for posting it.
Thanks for that . . . I needed a good laugh today

HAHA

Thank you for that .... I needed a good laugh today.

Bush tell your daughters they are needed in Iraq for a *noble* cause
Oh really, going off the deep end, LOL..by asking Bush and his daughters and other young people in his family to sign up for duty in Iraq since the Bush family thinks it is so important and the *Noble* thing to do?  And Im going off the deep end, LOL.  You are so silly sometimes in your posts.  I see nothing wrong in asking the chickenhawk warmongers to urge their children to join up..after all our country is fighting a *war on terrorism*..or..wait a minute..what is the new saying the WH is throwing out there..*a global war on extremists*..or....oh geez..I need to start writing down the reasons for our blood shed in Iraq..I cant remember all the reasons why we pre-emptively invaded Iraq..Cant keep up with the spin cycle of the WH..
And during a time when Arab linguists are needed the most by the military --

This could actually be funny if it wasn't so stupid.  The question Do you work off duty with the local community theater? speaks volumes.

Servicemembers Legal Defense Network: Army Dismisses Gay Arabic Linguist 'Outed' By Anonymous Email Campaign

WASHINGTON, July 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The U.S. Army recently discharged a highly regarded Arabic linguist who was the target of an anonymous email outing campaign. Former Sergeant Bleu Copas was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., and was a member of the prestigious 82nd Airborne Division. A decorated Sergeant who received impressive performance reviews, Copas also performed in the 82nd Airborne Chorus. His dismissal, under the federal Don't Ask, Don't Tell ban on lesbian, gay and bisexual personnel, brings the total number of Arabic language specialists dismissed under the ban to at least 55. Neither Copas nor his command know who was the source of the email campaign.

'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' has become a far too effective, and convenient, weapon of vengeance in our armed forces, said Sharra E. Greer, director for law and policy for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), which provided legal counsel to Copas. Anyone with an axe to grind -- a former partner or roommate, or an angry relative, for example -- can end an otherwise promising career simply by employing rumor and hearsay. Service members like Sergeant Copas, who are making important contributions to our national defense, are finding themselves increasingly vulnerable under the law. The only way to protect our men and women in uniform from such insidious outing campaigns is to repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' once and for all.

In August 2005, an anonymous individual emailed Copas's unit, alleging there was an online profile of a unit member identifying them as gay. Despite clear instructions that investigations into sexual orientation are only to be commenced when a service member's command has credible evidence indicating the service member is gay, Copas's command nonetheless asked him about his sexual orientation and went on to launch a full investigation into allegations about him. The command-appointed investigating officer interviewing Copas asked such questions as, Do you work off duty with the local community theater? and Do you know or are you aware of anyone who believes you are a homosexual? He also recommended conducting an inquiry ... into the possibility of further homosexual conduct by member(s) of the (unit). Despite never learning who made the original allegations against him, Sergeant Copas was dismissed from the Army in January.

The ban on gay service members serves no purpose except to further discrimination at the expense of our military readiness, said Copas. Most troops care about their colleagues' job performance, not their sexual orientation, and this law is past due for repeal. Those of us who want to serve our country should not be barred from doing so simply because of outdated prejudice. The gay ban punishes every service member, even those who never tell and the straight troops who lose trusted, and trained, fellow soldiers.

Since 1993, more than 11,000 service members have been dismissed under the gay ban, according to the Department of Defense. A February 2005 report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported that the Pentagon has fired 322 language specialists who had ... skills in a foreign language that DoD had considered to be especially important. The report also found that nearly 800 specialists, including intelligence analysts, divers and combat controllers, were fired despite having some training in an occupation identified ... as 'critical.' The House of Representatives is currently considering legislation to repeal the law, with 118 bi-partisan members supporting the measure.

I not only have read it, I live it. Jesus also said "a physician is not needed for the well, but
I really do not see very much of that lately, just a spirit of pride, superiority, and many times hypocrivy, which Jesus abhorred and exhorted the Pharisees and Sadducees to be abolish in their hearts,,,you see, I have read and lived Scripture all of my life, but I try not to slam people over the head with it who do not have the same POLITICAL beliefs as I, I can make that distinction. We do not have churches in the Senate chamber, and we do not have Congressman from EITHER side conducting services.
Common sense needed, not book smarts
I'm sorry but we have had too many SMART people running this country...what we need is some people with COMMON SENSE running this country.  I have worked with people from lawyers, to doctors, to laborers when I waitressed and the smartest people don't have a lick of common sense.  THAT is what is wrong with our government, no common sense and no real life experience.  You show me 1 politician who has ever worried about their house payment or car payment or who has had $10 left in their checking acct at the end of the month-you can't because their isn't 1.  They do not understand the average joe because they've never been the average joe.  So how can they help us?
Yup, the Real Republican Party will rise again....new blood is definitely needed, that's for sure

Sham: a spurious imitation; fraud or hoax. No spellcheck needed.
Maybe you should stop worrying about petty bunk and face the issues.

SHAM!
I agree, doubt she would stoop to that. Maybe she needed a break. Or gave up hope. nm
