I have heard a lot in the 8 years that Bush was in office. I am a proud Liberal and for the record, we don't "promote" abortion, we believe in a woman's right to make her own choice about her reproductive rights. No one is "pro-abortion!"

I grew up in a very poor family and all my clothes were handmade. We ate nothing but what we grew and we rarely had a piece of meat on the table. At what point do YOU believe an individual should take any responsibility for themselves? At age 30,40, 50? Give me an age. Now, I have spent many a year in the school system here. I watch 13 and 14 year old girls have babies, not learn a thing from that experience. Why? Because they don't have to support their child. They hand it over to someone like the grandmother, auntie, or cousin who watch it while they go to school, AND while they're out having yet another baby. So, by the time some of them are out of high school, they have a grand total of 3 kids, which I have sat and watch them pass around at the ballgames and bragging about their bigger check this month. They are not poor kiddo. Their babies have Tommy Hilfiger and every other expensive outfit they think they should have, while those of us who actually work buy our clothes on sale, not name brand $100 shoes and pants.
Those with your attitude are clueless to the wasted funds to many. They actually believe only the truly poor and needy are being helped. You need to either go live where there is much waste or stop feeling you have to back up a family member.
I see kids come to school who are starving. Their only meal is at school and come Friday afternoon, their only next meal is Monday morning at school. Why? Because they are poor? No, because they have sorry parents. Now, those same parents have no problem spending their check on their nails, hair, cell phone, and hanging out at bars, but they don't have money to feed their kids.
Maybe if the parents would get off their front stoop every morning when the Headstart bus pulls up and they're too lazy and sorry to walk their child down the block to the bus but instead, actually believe that bus should wait on them curbside. They can't even have their child dressed and ready for school. They expect the bus to wait on them while they stand on their front stoop and talk o their cell phone (poor things) and holler across the street at several other 17 year old mothers who are doing the same thing while the rest of us have to sit behind the bus and wait on their slow turtle stride to the bus.
That's not poor......that's lazy. They have a home, food, clothing, and I might add, a very new model vehicle sitting in front of their apartments, years newer than mine, but let's all just pretend we don't see that garbage going on. I think most of us know when there are truly needy people who need help and the truly lazy moochers who have and will continue to not give a rip about their child's future or education, only who they gonna meet once that kid is on the bus and on their way to the babysitter for the day.
Matter of fact, a lady across the street, who by the way is also democrat, is sickened by the same thing every morning, as she is usually right in front of me, while we sit and watch those poor souls put their babies on the babysitting bus. Now, those poor souls can have a FREE FREE FREE 2 year college education at their local community college but they couldn't care less about an education. As I have heard many say when in high school and being encouraged by their teachers to take advantage of their 2 free years of college...."I ain't wasting my time sitting in no more classes". So, instead you think I'M supposed to reward lazy? Sick of hearing how so many just don't have opportunities like everyone else. I got news for you.....those very people in my community have EVERY opportunity to better themselves and will be all but given a job after finishing up a 2 year degree. Maybe you have a better idea of when it's time to cut them from the gravy train so they might get serious about being an adult?!!!

I was no saint a year ago. Doesn't mean that my acceptance of Christ and becoming a Christian is fake.
My church has never said I have to tithe to be saved. We give 10% of our income freely to give back what we were blessed with. We have never been forced to do so. There have been weeks when we have given less than that. And it doesn't mean just 10% of your money. You can give your time, you can give your community service, anything as long as it is for Christ and not for personal gain.
If your sister's church is truly pressuring her to tithe then she needs to look for a different church. No one should ever question how little or how much you give. God doesn't want anything from us that is forced. Including our love. Hence, free will.

For the short amount of time I watched MSNBC yesterday (10 minutes - then was about to throw up so had to turn them off) I heard this crap too. And that is what it is....crap! So any elitist liberal who posts an article you're going to believe. They have no facts to back this up.
The truth is there is no rise in hate groups. However, there is a rise in "the O" supporters who are coming around to realize that everything he says and campaigned on is a lie and yes they are angry they were duped. But there is no "violent hate groups" (on the right at least, plenty of liberal hate groups out there). You need to turn off MSNBC and CNN and get some news elsewhere because those two groups are just a liberal propaganda station. Remember Hanoi Hilton. We have it here called MSNBC & CNN.

In my case, I take 20 (yes 20) meds to keep going; I have horrible autoimmune diseases. But you know what? I would rather take them and keep working, keep learning, and set an example for my kids NOT TO GIVE UP rather than go an file for SSDI/disability; I was told I could probably get it easily eough, but I get a pride and sense of accomplishment and worth from my work that is GOOD for me, and as long as I can satisfy my bosses, I will keep working, God willing. People who are healthy do not understand needing so many meds and doctors and tests, and even with insurance what the co-pays add up to.....THOUSANDS. Bringing up three children is also costly, though absolutely priceless and the best thing I ever did with my life. We are at a point in economic history where it has NEVER been more expensive to feed, clothe, house, give medial/dental care to, and help with education for children....and I am not crying, whining, or looking for a martydom medal. Just trying my ultimate best each day, and thought the wage thing MIGHT be one of many solutions, what we have been doing in the past HAS NOT WORKED for so many reasons. Anyway, I truly hope you personally are doing much, much better these days, it takes time and faith, but life CAN get better...all the best to you!!

In my opinion, the biggest problem in
Washington is the Lobbyists. We need to get rid of them. They are not there for the American people, they are there for their own interests - the companies that they do work for. Both sides have them - I know Biden's son was one and McCain has what, 7 of them on his team. So it is a bipartisan problem.
I don't believe Universal healthcare is the only answer, but I do believe some sort of a plan would be beneficial. I have friends that live in different parts of the world, Sweden, France, and England - they have healthcare plans and they are a lot better than anything I get with my insurance. They may pay more in taxes, but by my calculations it is what I would be paying in premiums and deductibles anyway.

My biggest problem with religion
is this....what makes me right and so many wrong. It often makes me wonder if all religions aren't based on the same "God" because so many stories in their "holy books" are similar, etc. I just wonder if people broke up and interpreted things differently and took one belief and transformed it into several religions under different names. Did that make sense?

That was a long article, but I think it did highlight the fact that Bush is neither a friendly or a courteous guy - insiders have been saying that for years. Can't use the excuse that he didn't want some antiwar journalist raking him over the coals - that kind of journalist would never have been allowed within the same building as he, if she had that kind of reputation.
It seems clear that the Bushes consider themselves American Royalty and that's unfortunate, because America was born from a resentment of just that kind of above-the-law holier-than-thou don't- speak-until-he-does kind of nonsense.
