Strangely bored with lies and hate speech. No need to stoop
the pubs are turning on each, jumping ship, bailing, pointing fingers at each other and basically disintegrating before our very eyes.
Well...Michelle Obama works full time now...
as does her husband, and their children look beautiful, healthy and well adjusted.

Actually, I believe just the opposite. I believe being governor, actually running a state, is much more of a day-to-day demanding position. Still, she is home most every night. As VP, she will be home most every night. Michelle Obama works full time too, but she is home most every night. As First Lady, Michelle will be required to travel as well...Laura Bush has traveled quite a bit as first lady.

I believe Sarah Palin can handle it and not deprive her children. I also believe that Michelle Obama could handle it just fine and not deprive her chldren. They are both strong women who have a wonderful support system and love their husbands and families...which I don't think precludes them having a career...either as and administrator like michelle obama, or as first lady; and Sarah Palin as governor or VP.

And I think a majority of women in the country would agree with that as well.
Obama lies...
http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/fashion-shows/

At least this site attempts to back up why the lies are lies...and not just a laundry list of "likes" that are one man's opinion with no backup whatsoever.
Just one more of Obama's lies
I for the life of me cannot figure out why people believe him. He is not going to just tax 250K and above and I can believe anyone would be that gullible to believe him.

Our taxes are going to go up. There's no doubt about it. It's the only way they can generate income to feed all their programs.
So Obama lies??
LOL
what about Obama's children and all the lies
i'm sure you have no sympathy for them, though.
How about Obama's lies regarding his relationships
nm
Obama lies about his relationships and is a big
nm
I had trouble believing Obama's lies
He kept going around in circles it made no sense. He kept trying to cover up one lie with another. But what would you expect from a lawyer.
Associated Press (!) Catches Obama in Lies

Amazing.  Maybe some in the press actually are beginning to wise up to Obama.  Read it here:

___________________

WASHINGTON (AP) - "That wasn't me," President Barack Obama said on his 100th day in office, disclaiming responsibility for the huge budget deficit waiting for him on Day One.

It actually was him - and the other Democrats controlling Congress the previous two years - who shaped a budget so out of balance.

And as a presidential candidate and president-elect, he backed the twilight Bush-era stimulus plan that made the deficit deeper, all before he took over and promoted spending plans that have made it much deeper still.

Obama met citizens at an Arnold, Mo., high school Wednesday in advance of his prime-time news conference. Both forums were a platform to review his progress at the 100-day mark and look ahead.

At various times, he brought an air of certainty to ambitions that are far from cast in stone.

His assertion that his proposed budget "will cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term" is an eyeball-roller among many economists, given the uncharted terrain of trillion-dollar deficits and economic calamity that the government is negotiating.

He promised vast savings from increased spending on preventive health care in the face of doubts that such an effort, however laudable it might be for public welfare, can pay for itself, let alone yield huge savings.

A look at some of his claims Wednesday:

OBAMA: "Number one, we inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit.... That wasn't me. Number two, there is almost uniform consensus among economists that in the middle of the biggest crisis, financial crisis, since the Great Depression, we had to take extraordinary steps. So you've got a lot of Republican economists who agree that we had to do a stimulus package and we had to do something about the banks. Those are one-time charges, and they're big, and they'll make our deficits go up over the next two years." - in Missouri.

(AP) President Barack Obama speaks during a town hall meeting Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Fox Senior...

THE FACTS:

Congress controls the purse strings, not the president, and it was under Democratic control for Obama's last two years as Illinois senator. Obama supported the emergency bailout package in President George W. Bush's final months - a package Democratic leaders wanted to make bigger.

To be sure, Obama opposed the Iraq war, a drain on federal coffers for six years before he became president. But with one major exception, he voted in support of Iraq war spending.

The economy has worsened under Obama, though from forces surely in play before he became president, and he can credibly claim to have inherited a grim situation.

Still, his response to the crisis goes well beyond "one-time charges."

He's persuaded Congress to expand children's health insurance, education spending, health information technology and more. He's moving ahead on a variety of big-ticket items on health care, the environment, energy and transportation that, if achieved, will be more enduring than bank bailouts and aid for homeowners.

The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated his policy proposals would add a net $428 billion to the deficit over four years, even accounting for his spending reduction goals. Now, the deficit is nearly quadrupling to $1.75 trillion.

---

OBAMA: "I think one basic principle that we know is that the more we do on the (disease) prevention side, the more we can obtain serious savings down the road. ... If we're making those investments, we will save huge amounts of money in the long term." - in Missouri.

THE FACTS: It sounds believable that preventing illness should be cheaper than treating it, and indeed that's the case with steps like preventing smoking and improving diets and exercise. But during the 2008 campaign, when Obama and other presidential candidates were touting a focus on preventive care, the New England Journal of Medicine cautioned that "sweeping statements about the cost-saving potential of prevention, however, are overreaching." It said that "although some preventive measures do save money, the vast majority reviewed in the health economics literature do not."

And a study released in December by the Congressional Budget Office found that increasing preventive care "could improve people's health but would probably generate either modest reductions in the overall costs of health care or increases in such spending within a 10-year budgetary time frame."

---

OBAMA: "You could cut (Social Security) benefits. You could raise the tax on everybody so everybody's payroll tax goes up a little bit. Or you can do what I think is probably the best solution, which is you can raise the cap on the payroll tax." - in Missouri.

THE FACTS: Obama's proposal would reduce the Social Security trust fund's deficit by less than half, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

That means he would still have to cut benefits, raise the payroll tax rate, raise the retirement age or some combination to deal with the program's long-term imbalance.

Workers currently pay 6.2 percent and their employers pay an equal rate - for a total of 12.4 percent - on annual wages of up to $106,800, after which no more payroll tax is collected.

Obama wants workers making more than $250,000 to pay payroll tax on their income over that amount. That would still protect workers making under $250,000 from an additional burden. But it would raise much less money than removing the cap completely.

Obama's top three health care campaign lies

By Phil Kerpen

Lie Number 1: I Won’t Tax Your Health Benefits

What Obama said on the campaign trail (Newport News, Va., October 4, 2008):

“So here’s John McCain’s radical plan in a nutshell: he taxes health care benefits for the first time in history… Well, I don’t think that’s right.”

What Obama says now:

Obama ally Sen. Max Baucus told the Washington Post that Obama is now willing to tax employer-provided health benefits. Baucus said: “Yeah, it’s something that he might consider. That was discussed. It’s on the table.”

Limiting or ending the tax-free status of health benefits makes sense if it’s used to cut other taxes and put all health insurance—employer-provided or not—on a level playing field. The existing benefit is an artifact of World War II-era price controls and creates a tax penalty for people who buy their own insurance.

But unlike the McCain plan, which would have taxed employer-provided health benefits and used the money to pay for a new health care tax credit, the plan now being considered by Democrats, including Obama, would tax employer-health benefits to fund increased government health care spending. For the 250 million-plus Americans who already have health insurance, this is a raw deal—they pay more taxes and get nothing in return.

Lie Number 2: I Won’t Force You to Buy Health Insurance

What Obama said on the campaign trail (Janesville, Wis., February 13, 2008):

“The main difference between my plan and Senator Clinton’s plan is that she’d require the government to force you to buy health insurance and she said she’d ‘go after’ your wages if you don’t.”

What Obama says now:

President Obama sent a letter to Democratic Senators Ted Kennedy and Max Baucus yesterday that says—using the new code word “responsibility” to refer to the same kind of mandate he slammed in Hillary’s plan:

“I understand the Committees are moving towards a principle of shared responsibility — making every American responsible for having health insurance coverage, and asking that employers share in the cost. I share the goal of ending lapses and gaps in coverage that make us less healthy and drive up everyone’s costs, and I am open to your ideas on shared responsibility.”

While President Obama did say he would like a waiver process in hardship cases, there is no reason to have a mandate other than to force people to buy insurance who don’t want to, mostly young people who are healthy and want to spend their limited income on their young careers and families. According to the Census Bureau, about 60 percent of the uninsured are under age 35, with the highest rates in the 18-24 bracket (28.1 percent uninsured) and the 25-34 (25.7 percent uninsured) bracket. This is about forcing some people who don’t want health insurance to pay for other people through a new government program. It’s more spreading the wealth around.

President Obama is poised to accept this provision for the same reason Sen. Clinton proposed it—to buy off insurance companies. Democrats learned a lesson from the 1993 HillaryCare fight when the insurance companies stopped a Washington health care takeover. The mandate is a giveaway to insurance companies to buy their support this time by forcing healthy young people who use less health care to pay insurance premiums.

Lie Number 3: If You Aren’t Rich, I Won’t Raise Your Taxes

What Obama said on the campaign trail (September 12, 2008, Dover, N.H.):

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”

What Obama says now:

Well, it’s hard to keep up because new ideas are floated every day, but they all would involve taxing people who make less than $250,000. In fact, even his income tax hikes for the rich have now been dropped down to start at $235,000. Then there’s the soft drink excise tax, the cap-and-trade energy taxes, and most recently the VAT, a form of national sales tax. And of course the tax on health benefits I mentioned above would also break the only-tax-the-rich pledge.

What all these proposals have in common: we all pay, big-time, likely trillions of dollars in higher taxes for “free” government health care. In fact, that’s probably the biggest lie of all—that government health care is free.

My DH's impression of an Obama speech: sm
"Todaaaay is a new day. Tomorrooooow will come. I will change all of the changes that have changed us yesterday by changing tomorrow, which comes after today."

Before anyone jumps on me, it is a JOKE. We did not vote for Obama but will support him as much as we can from here on out. The joke above is just a play on his grandiose speeches that, really, say absolutely nothing--but he sounds good! LOL

A JOKE. Kind of like those Bush jokes people tell...has anyone heard one of those????:-/
I listened to the speech. It probably sounded a lot like the one Obama..
gave at the dailykos convention. She stated twice very significantly about the Alaska constitution. That is the antithesis of secession. As governor she was recognizing a recognized party in her state. I don't think there is as much antipathy between parties in Alaska as there are in the lower 48. I see no problem in recognizing them. I am not willing to assume that Obama ascribes to the ascerbic smut from dailykos just because he spoke to them. I guess that makes me somewhat more broad-minded than you?

You mean something by "sambo?"
When Obama gave his speech tonight, I...

noticed the audience was made up of different ethnic groups.  What I also noticed was how they embraced one another - whites were hugging blacks, blacks were hugging whites, etc, etc.  Obama said he wanted to bring about change and he already has begun to accomplish that.  When he says, "Yes We Can," he is talking about overcoming adversity.

A lot of you may not have voted for Obama, but don't be bitter and angry because he won.  When you become bitter and angry, you only hurt yourself in the long run.

Did Obama Skip Bush's Speech?

As his predecessor, President Bush, said his final goodbyes to America on national television, President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle dined at the DC restaurant, Equinox Thursday night.

CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic, who waited outside the restaurant, reports that there is no indication whether or not Mr. Obama was watching President Bush's farewell remarks.

The President-elect departed the Blair house, located right across the street from the White House podium from which the president spoke, minutes before President Bush commenced.

A host at the restaurant tells CBS News' that the President-elect stopped by the only television in the high end establishment, a small screen at the bar, and watched for "a minute or two." The source said he did not notice what Mr. Obama was watching but that "no" it was not for an extended period of time.

No one from Obama's transition team has responded to CBS News' inquiries as to whether he was watching the address.

I know and you know that if Bush signed a bill that would cost us 400 billion dollars and 4.2 million jobs, you would have a stroke.  Conservatives want to protect the environment as much as our Birkenstock-wearing liberal counterparts.  But conservatives dont' base their environmental policies on emotions, hysteria or junk science, gt.  Conservatives like warm fuzzies just as much as the next guy but that should not require us to walk lockstep with the radical environmentalist agenda.  Environmentalists have watched way too many Star Trek episodes and seem incapable at times of distinguishing between science fiction and science fact.  They won't tell you this at the DU or the New York Times but we don't even know scientifically if carbon dioxide actually affects the Earth's temperature.  We live in a polluted world.  Surely the manufacture of disposable diapers (never used em), plastic containers, and styrofoam is a huge contributor, not to mention toxic waste from manufacturing.  KYOTO DOESN'T EVEN ADDRESS THESE!  It's worried about CO2.  GET REAL.  As a nation, we need to get back to washing our own dishes, washing our own diapers, and drinking out of the old faithful mason jar.  THAT' S environmental protection.  You don't know what you are talking about.  You only think you do. You can't go around reducing every argument to conservatives are mean cruel hateful liars and just ignore the crux of the problem.  Well, I guess you can.  You keep doing it.  Try independent thought for a change.

Oh please. This post is so full of it
He "accurately assessed the country was ready to elect an African American president". My gosh, did he do that all by his little ol self. Excuse me but he didn't choose this. People above him who pay him told him he would run.

He by all means did not run a clean campaign. Don't you even remember what he did to Hillary??????? Not only with Hillary, but all the other primary runners and with McCain he DID resort to dirty tactics and tained election antics. And ESPECIALLY, most ESPECIALLY manipulated the courts decisions. That whole deal about him not releasing his BC is such a farce. He is illigitimate plain and simple. Does that change anything NO, it does not. He has enough rich lawyer friends and super wealthy friends who have manipulated. I am dealing with the fact that we have a foreign born president and that our constitution has been changed. I'm dealing with it, but for you to come out and say he didn't manipulate anything. Please. From his friends in the legal offices always overturning everything that people are doing to come to the truth. That spells SLEAZE in capital letters. I am dealing with it and I don't bring it up anymore but your blindness to the facts is astonishing.

His cabinet appointments have been very well orchestrated. Yup, you got that one right. One sleazeball Clinton has been after another. That is what I call very well orchestrated. Now if he would only pick some people with intelligence and knowledge to fill the cabinet. Not the people he owes favors to who will be the downfall of our country.

He has world leaders enthused? Have you even read how outraged some of the other countries are about some of his picks - especially Dillary! Puten and people in his country sure are not enthused. Iran sure is not enthused that he picked the lady that stated she would obliterate their country. No doubt Germany is enthused. The embrace socialism there.

The O is off to a good start??? That is your opinion. There are many of us who were hopeful for him when he was elected, but seeing the decisions he is making so far we are thinking twice about that.

He will be dazzling us with his brilliance?????? My-oh-my, did you read that in a Romance novel. You really need to stop drinking that Kool-Aid and join us in reality. Only after he is present will be be able to say whether he "dazzled us with his brilliance" or "baffled us with his bullsh!t".

you sit and talk to yourself and make up this crap?
You sound so full of yourself
bust a gut at any moment, so could be all that mountain biking has been in vain and instead your perfectly proportioned bod is bloated with bull.

Your OP is a good example why there is a difference between those folks you claim to hang with and the ones here who have to endure the cesspool that those types of remarks turn this forum into on a minute-by-minute basis.

You missed the point of the other post. Here's a hint. It was not about chili dogs and cheese and going gaga over Obama, but you were in such a hurry to try to be cute while you post your disgust, you didn't notice.

I too would like to suggest that it might be a good idea to at least CONSIDER keeping your pot shot drive by negative snipes to yourself every now and then.
And some of us with a full brain knows this is (sm)

also about Israel.

From another Republican under the Reagan Administration, Paul Craig Roberts:  http://www.vdare.com/roberts/090508_hate_crime.htm

Since the passage of the Global Anti-Semitism Review Act in 2004, the US Department of State is required to monitor anti-Semitism worldwide.  The State Department is not required to monitor anti-Americanism or sentiments against Christians, Muslims or Arabs.  Thus, the act created a specially protected class worthy of careful monitoring by the US Department of State of negative sentiments expressed against Jews.

In order to monitor anti-Semitism, the term must be defined.  The definition is subjective and will be widely, rather than narrowly, interpreted.

The State Department has come up with its attempt.  The State Department’s approach could include any truthful statements about Israel and its behavior toward the Palestinians that the Israeli government or AIPAC or the Anti-Defamation League would deny or contest.

Anti-Semitic speech can be interpreted as inciting hatred.  Inciting hatred can be interpreted to be a violent act.  “Excessive” criticism of Israel is a subjective, indefinable concept that can be used to determine anti-semitic speech.  It is easy to conflate “excessive” with “strong”

Thus, demands that Israel be held accountable for war crimes committed in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, or elsewhere become acts of the “hate crime” of anti-semitism.

glass empty/full
LOL, ya know, reading your post about glass half empty, geez.  I used to, in my younger days, be a glass half full.  I used to debate with friends and coworkers, especially liked debating with cute doctors (smile) about their glass half empty view and my glass half full view..However, as I have gotten older, wiser and more tired, yes I guess my view is glass half empty.  However, I do think if the situation in this country and the world and the job situation,  heck the respect for each other situation was better, my attitude would change.
Hmm...in the interest of full disclosure...

Don't care where Waldo is, but would like to know where the thesis is...and also the rest of the missing Columbia records.  If people are so concerned about where what the #2 on the other ticket did in Wasilla, Alaska, and how many colleges she went to, I would like to know what the #1 on the Democratic ticket was doing during his Columbia years.  After all...he IS running for the #1 slot.

Your post is so full of holes that I won't even....... sm
bother to address all of them, but I will address a couple.

For starters, "sam" apparently no longer posts here, or if he/she does then it is done under another name. If so, I could not blame him/her because of the regular attacks he/she also received. The ball bounces both ways, you know, so you can come out of hiding now.

My moniker has always been "m" which is the initial of my first name. I stand behind what I post, regardless of how "juvenile" you seem to think they are. I have had many conversations with other posters on the board with no complaints at all apart from my particular political stance on a subject which is to be expected on such a forum as this.

The last thing I would address is the fact that you say I should just avoid your yellow-bellied posts if I don't care for their convoluted, high-brow attitude and move on. A good portion of the time, I do just that, but it is hard to always correctly identify you amongst all the other NM and SM "monikers" on this board, again people who like to throw out barbs without sullying their reputation. Further, when someone attacks another poster as they did BT above, and I am assuming it is you by the nature of your posts, I feel that something should be said. Rude and inflammatory posts such as you are accustomed to making are hurtful and completely unnecessary. To have simply disagreed would have been one thing, but to call someone a "psychopath" is something else entirely. I, of course, have no proof that you made the original post, but neither do you have proof to me that you didn't. I will leave it at that.

I have nothing else that I wish do discuss with you in terms of political views at this point. If and when you do decide to post something of interest, be it political or a personal attack against me or another regular poster of this forum, I will speak to that as the situation arises. Until then, have a nice day.
Well, he ain't alone.......congress full of money

Wow.... The world is just full of crackpots! sm
I certainly do pray for Obama's safety as he takes office and in the weeks and months to come.
If we are in a full blown depression...(sm)
then I think the number of illegals coming into the country will lessen.  If we can't offer them anything better here why would they come?  I think there will be more pressure on the ones here because they will be competing for jobs.  When Americans can't find jobs, I think they will be more likely to point out illegals or suspected illegals to lessen competition.
There are libraries full of scholarship on
