Sulcus is Latin for groove, furrow, or trench

this is used in medical terminology quite often. Sulci is the pleural form of sulcus.

Here is the question - how do you type the word "stat"  meaning immediately?  Its a latin derivitive like n.p.o. , p.r.n. etc, and those are typed in lower case with periods.  So would it be "stat."    I have also seen it typed STAT  with no period.  I can't find it anywhere to back up my choice.  Any ideas???  Or where to look??
