yeah, and they politically
eviscerated poor old Tom DeLay for a lot less! The hypocrisy I think bothers me more than anything else. If they only knew the pleasure of just laying down at night thinking you are going to listen to a little radio, but you just go right to sleep; no pills, no nothing but a clean conscience. I bet our forefathers are rolling!
While I don't agree with you politically -
your name makes me smile when I see you post.
Being politically correct or not is not an issue to me.
The current war in Iraq is not about genocide, period.

Now am I going to take sides with Saddam, heck no, but this kind of stuff had basically come to a halt since the first Gulf War, sanctions, military actions (bombings) under Clinton, and continued UN sanctions.

Grant it Saddaam and his regime were crooked in the worst way, but he doesn't even come close to the brutal dictators that carry out the genocide and slavery that still goes on in Africa today.

Religiously politically incorrect? (sm)

The name of this site is MTStars.  Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I take that to mean it is a place for medical transcriptionists to come and voice their opinions about many subjects.  Please see list of subjects to the left.  What I didn't realize is that this board is exclusive of anyone who is not a christian or has a different view other than those posted.  AGAIN, my post had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING to do with religion.  And by the way, I have used the term *bible thumping* once on this board, and that was because it was a direct quote from another poster (a christian).

MODERATOR:  Could you please change the name of this website to RELIGIOUSLY POLITICALLY CORRECT MTSTARS!!!!

Trying to be politically correct and make sure he toes the...
party line. At least O'Reilly made him admit the surge worked. Although after he burted it out (not only did it succeed, he said, but beyond most people's wildest dreams), he did try to get back on message and complain that the Iraqis were still not where they should be (even though they have met 14 of 18 benchmarks). Who knows what O really thinks? All you hear is the same old same old DNC mantra. The evil greedy corporations are stealing from you and we are going to punish them and reward you and you don't have to do a darn thing to earn it except vote for us. Socialism 101. Trouble is, corporations drive the economy of this country. They employ most of the people in this country in some form or fashion. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
A politically correct holiday message sm

Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all;

a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regard to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishes.

(Disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.)

Progressive new sources
On reviewing the posts below, I see someone has supplied you with a number of conservative sources to investigate. For the sake of balance, here is a list I prepared a few days back of progressive sources that will also give some insight into the Obama camp and their beliefs. You could Google around with this list, but don't be overwhelmed. In my personal opinion, the Democracy Now! Amy Goodman is a nice all-round overview of all the others. Here's that link and the list.
Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman
Ariana Huffington.

why progressive taxation?
Two answers:
1. Because it's good for the economy. Money doesn't exist to stagnate in pools; it has to move.
2. Because it's the moral thing to do. If you have for example a flat 10% income tax, a millionaire will flinch, but a poor man will starve.
progressive taxation
See, DNH, the thing I'm getting at is, it already *is* my money. My money, your money, it's being taken already, and given to people who don't work, billionaires who have not a worry in the world.

Your example of a 25% tax rate is even better than mine. That guy making 60,000, he's making 45,000 after taxes. Well and good--it was a big bite of his income, but he can still afford his house and to feed his kids. But what about the guy making 30,000? Suddenly he's making 22,500 a year, and how's he going to pay his heating bill this winter? He can't afford food, he can't make rent.

So what looks initially like equal treatment, is actually something far different: A neglible weight on the wealthy, a noticeable burden on the middle class, and a death sentence on the lower class.

The incentive argument doesn't work, either. During the height of taxation in the 50s, the economy grew at a healthy rate, and it grew by making things, building things, actual goods and services, not the fake growth we've seen in the recent low-tax decades, where all the wealth is made up of obscure financial instruments that nobody understands.

People don't give up their dreams because they fear a high tax rate. They give up their dreams because suddenly they can't afford food anymore, and they're going to get thrown out of their houses, and their kids are going to be dressed in rags, because every dime they worked so hard for is being redistributed right on up into the hands of billionaires.

What if it were my money? I'd rather every dime I had go to the poor, than yet another penny wind up in somebody's else's hedge fund.
They're a lot more progressive and educated.

right, al the young and educated, progressive
people voted for Mousavi. Even before all the votes were in, the government already announced a landslide win for Ahmedinejad. Definitely fraud, Ahmedinejad's ratings before the elections were very low, high unemployment rate. How could he win?
Tax cuts, progressive tax system, social programs
are as American as apple pie and these same policies and initiatives can be found puncuating the pages of our history from the day of our country's inception.

You do not understand Marxism or socialism, or you would be a lot more exercised by the current redistribution of wealth that takes your tax dollars and moves them upward to an elite ruling class that represses and undermines the middle class at the drop of a hat. State ownership of banks, lending institutions and direct personal property "buy outs" (as proposed by McCain certainly smack of Marxism and are not exactly what you could call traditional American values.
I'll take progressive-thinking, educated liberals any day
They towed Bush's line for 6 long years. Ask any progressive
better still, branch out and listen to opposing media views, including progressive radio and newspapers...those guys have yet to get mainstream coverage. To get any kind of decent international coverage, one is forced to go to media source outside of our own country. You might be REALLY surpised at what you find there. Get real.
Oh gee...that sounds like too much
thinking to have to do...... To think for yourself and not follow like lost sheep.... gee whiz.
sounds like we now have

scientific proof of putting lipstick on a pig!!  Great experiement.

It sounds like

you are not endorsing Barack Obama.

It just sounds like to me that she
lives in the neighborhood that she prefers, so that she can be her might self-righteous self.
Sounds like us and more soon when (NM)
sounds like

sedition to me.

Sounds like someone needs to look
a little deeper into history.  FDR actually prolonged the duration of the great depression with his government programs.  Get a clue!  Stimulus package is a BAD idea and will not work!!!!!
It sounds as though you do not want our
Congresspeople not to listen to the people's voices, I cannot believe that! I am a Democrat. I thought that is why we held elections. Look at the national polls, the numbers are dropping every day, but the last I heard it was like 37% of Americans in favor of passing this stimulus bill. And you are proud these calls are being ignored? This is a perfect example of downright IGNORANCE!
Sounds like someone

needs to go put their nose in the corner or sit in the time out chair.  Wow.

Sounds sensible enough, but I wonder...
...would you have the same discussion with them about sniffing glue? Snorting coke? Smoking "Smarties" (the newest thing)? Drinking Drano?

If you're going to disappoint me, break the law and do something harmful to your body, I'd rather you do it at home.

Sorry - I can't get a handle on that one. It's a "helpless parent" position that amounts to parental malfeasance, IMHO. I'm sorry to put it in such stark terms and I realize that I'm going to be in the minority on this one.
Sounds like they are trying........... sm
to do damage control in order to keep their Fortune "Most Admired" status.
It sounds to me as if you need to go to
your personal prayer closet and find your peace. You cannot say how you would react if one of your children came and told you he/she was homosexual.

Just to stay on topic, I am of a firm conviction and do agree with you that this is not a subject to be taught in public schools.
Now you are the one who sounds drunk
Sounds good to me
I have lost all credibility with you?  Yippee!!  Yehhaaww!!  Right on!!  I cant think of another hateful annoying prehistoric thinking person I would rather lose credibility with than you!  **BIG HUG**
Lol, welcome back. Sounds like you had fun.nm
Sounds like they are on the ball...sm
This is something that conservatives preach about, citizens have the ability to change the country not government, so you would think Ann would embrace this movement. There is no doubt in my mind that if these widows raised these issues while a Democrat was sitting as president Coulter would be praising them.

The idea here is to get OUR house in order before we go clean out someone elses.

Sounds like you have compassion for everyone!
Sounds good to me
I have been ignoring Observer for a few days and it feels great.  No need to respond to Observer, I post for my fellow Democrats/liberals and read posts from them.  If I wanted to be questioned and **educated** in conservative ways, I would frequent the conservative board.
Sounds like she is just reaching ...
Sounds like you are referring to a

certain group of people.  Correct me if I have misunderstood.  Who are you talking about?  The vast majority of conservatives who believe the Bible is divinely inspired support the Constitution and don't want it meddled with.  Your observation truly has me confused.

Sounds like that's exactly what you're trying to do
Grow up. Obama has nothing to brag on in that regard, either.
sounds like jealousy
you may say otherwise but reading your post you can see it. Jealousy plain and simple!
Sounds like he is just showing how
much of a pig he really is.
Sounds a bit selfish to me.....nm
sounds rather redundant to me.. ...sm
I must not have a sense of humor this morning.

Do you have another e-mail regarding how everything he touched all day long was stamped "made in China" or Taiwan, or Korea, etc.? Now that's scary, and not a good joke at all.....don't say it's the republicans that made that happen, either...I blame them both parties on that one....more's the pity.
Sounds to me as if you or your family
would never vote for him anyway.  I am from a small town in PA, born, bred and live in a small town, and I and my DH have no qualms with any of the so-called elitist statement, and as I said before, as I see it and hear it, he is right!  Some people are just too stupid or too bigoted to vote for their best interests, period, and that is the truth.  It is incredible to come through 8 years of the worst government this nation has ever seen, in the middle of a financial crisis that is being compared to the Great Depression, to vote for and give those people at least 4 more years that have brought this country to its knees, in one war that was unnecessary, that cast aside the constitution, torture, and all the other horrendous wrongdoings of the Bush administration, to allow race or a few misspoken words stop from electing a good man, an intelligent man, well, that is just stupidity or bigotry any way you slice it.  BTW, I am a 54-year-old white woman.... And I know there are more out there just like me who will vote for this man.. Be he elitist or be he a black radical or whatever slur you would throw at him, I will bet that he will be our next president, and  Good Lord I hope so!!  As I read through your writings here, seems to me you have not even stopped to think about how much this man has gone through to get where he is...as a black man, it could not have been easy for him, but he did, and he is, and I say more power to him.  All you can do is slur and impune him, give him no benefit of the doubt, or even think through what another 4 years of Republican rule will do to our country or your own quality of life.  You like to repeat the things they say on rightwing radio/TV, which are hateful and downright mean, and you have to be of a certain mindset to even listen to it.  I listen to Limbaugh, I watch Faux News, but I can't do so for very long because to me they are nothing but evil.  If you want to get religious, they are not very Christian-like, not if Christian means followers of Christ.  All I hear from them is a lot of liese, hate and hypocrisy.
It sounds like YOU are the JEALOUS one!
See green much?  Enough said.
yes, exactly the same. It all sounds ridiculous to me
but people better start paying attention to the issues and stop with the emotions already. break it down, what is each candidate offering ME and my children. We are left to figure out the honesty from the lies but we should all step back and pay close attention to what is happening here.

I as an independent have been questioning motives - and I do not like being used.
Sounds like a housemate I used to have....

And it sounds good when he says he
...once again, get him to show us how he is going to do this. He will not and cannot.
LOL...Dang...sounds like
we got a bunch of ole hillbillies on this board and I'm lovin it.  So don't no one get their overhauls in a bunch!  LOL.
sounds like I hit a nerve with you...
So if Obama is elected, which it certainly is going his way, will you move to another country?  Oh and funny how you didn't state what you were doing about the baby pile-up situation.  Guess your hands are "clean" and someone else will have to do that.
Sounds like you got it all figured out . . .

tell me where you got your crystal ball, 'cause I want one!

No it's not. Sounds a little too much like 'kill
Sounds like socialism. nm
It sounds lovely...buh-bye now!
Sounds like you ARE voting - nm
