I suppose if CEOs had their way, we would be eating worms

Can of worms
Thanks for being nice and replying.  I never dreamed asking a simple question could open up such a can of worms.
Again, VR is opening up that can of worms.
I answered on the other board, but mine was not moved so am reposting. As far as VR, I love it, others dislike it, even saying the hate word. I can make $20 and up per hour on the platform I use. From what I read here, some are not so lucky to have a very good system and it slows them down to where their pay has been cut to a large degree. I love escription, have used it now for about 4 years and really hate to straight type anymore. I find the ESLs, at least where I work, are so much easier with VR than having to sort through what they are trying to say. I will say how a system is trained and who works on it has all to do with what kind of reports you have. You could have almost perfect reports with a good system that has learned well and then you could get a clunker with loads on teaching the machine various ways and that is where the problem lies with VR.
Other way around. The Q is the biggest, eating up everyone else.

Speaking of eating - here it is the day before
wallet and cupboards BARE! For breakfast I had my last cup of yogurt, a few stray pieces of stale Minute Rice from the bottom of the box, and a cup of very watered-down coffee (why is coffee so expensive?)

Anyway, with a hearty breakfast under my belt, now I'm feeling all revved up and ready to tackle all those scratchy-sounding dictations and ESL doctors.

NOT. I can't hear myself think, my stomach is rumbling so loudly.
I give up. Go eat worms. NO MORE.

Opening up that can of worms, once more
I stayed with a job that went to VR but not for 3 cpl. That is really low and I hate it is coming down to this at so many places. My straight pay is 8 cpl. Escription is a really good system. You will find all kinds of answers on here back and forth. This will never be settled, seems like. Some love, others despise. Some have good systems, others not so good. From just what I gathered reading MQ site, I don't think their platform was that good as many talked about how it always had same errors and never seemed to be different. I have been accused of being software promoter but like you and others I do MTing but just happen to like my job and VR.
And that is why the managers and CEOs make big
$$. You are making a case against yourself. You want more $$, but you don't want the bigger responsibilities. Guess you are opting for the food stamps.
Or is eating, drinking, and belching....

I heard one time that the CEOs came from
Lernout & Hauspie. Don't know if it's true.
silly wabbit, take a look at the CEOs of the largest
The MT industry IS male- dominated. The ICs and small mom-and-pop MTSOs may still be predominately women, but when the higher echelon of the larger companies are in fact males...well, you just don't come off sounding like you have it all together. Additionally, most of those male-dominated large MTSOs have sunk huge amounts of money in offshore facilities/employees. Our government has made it lucrative NOT to do business in the US.

About this work stoppage thing and organization efforts you advocate, you must not be well read in MT circles on the 'net. There have been some serious people making serious efforts to organize the MT industry and time and time, these efforts fail. The biggest reason for this failure are anonymous message boards like these (no offense to the board owner/administrators) because people don't want to put their name behind what they say, don't want stand up for what they say. There are too many people who simply want to keep their jobs. I DO believe that if the US MTs collectively stopped working for a week, services WILL find alternatives and there will be loss of jobs. Remember the air traffic controllers? Best example I can offer.

I could go on but I got weary from reading your post as I have seen it time and time again, and unless you personally are willing to stand up and organize it, why are you stirring the pot?

Milton's Red Stapler
but I'll bet the CEOs find it funny. After they

checked the CEOs salary of Transcend. See inside.

Maybe if we lowered his salary we wouldn't be paid peanuts.

Using Vianeta to do our work is comparable to eating soup with a fork!

Not to open a can of worms, but is Meditrans of Norcross, GA an Indian company? nm

You are correct - also the millions CEOs took off the top for the Katrina supposedly home reimbursem
Well, I don't know I think it is the lobbying. We don't have lobbyists. With employment going up, mortgages defaulting, no one mentions in the news about all the US jobs going overseas causing this. I was so pro Hillary Clinton until I read about her being an advocate of outsourcing jobs and was overseas promoting it, I don't remember what country offhand - that broke my heart. Look back to before this president took office - you didn't hear of outsourcing to other countries or jobs going overseas, maybe I am wrong but if it brings lots of money to companies - they are certainly going to be hiring the lobbyists to keep it going.

I don't know why the new does not report what is happening - they seem to skirt the issue big time. Talk about unemployment and mortgage defaults by not the reason - we are all being replaced overseas. I guess if you can retire with millions of dollars in your pocket from stealing from the American people then it won't matter when the downfall happens to the rest of us.
I suppose

they would have told me by now if they were unhappy with my production or my hours.

suppose i should
would like information regarding employment w/ this company. not interested in gossip... would like information that would help me decide whether this company would be worth considering an offer from.
IF VR is suppose to be
better quality, faster, then the facilities and transcription companies are already ahead in the game because their MTs will be able to do more, so why decrease their pay at all since they will be getting twice the amount of work and better quality.  Is that what VR is all about?  Did MTs pay decrease when they moved from standard typerwriters to electric typerwriters from electronic typerwriters to computers?  Since when does better technology mean decreased pay? Is this really better technology or continued lack of value for those who do the work?
she is right, she is not suppose to cut sm
you a check without your SS number. She has to have that to cut you a 1099.

If you make less than 600 you don't have to claim it anyway.

If it were me, she would not get a computer back until I got my check!

Curiosity, why did you NOT sign any paperwork? Why would you agree to that?
I'm sure I'm suppose to be an example
probably thinking that I'm a retiree I can't afford to defend myself.  LOL  Fortunately I have a good attorney.  He's also a personal friend. LOL
I suppose 4000/mo is too low for you?
What world do you live in?
Fired you too, I suppose?
Believe everything you read, huh chickenneck? We got you again, and proved our point again. She starts this week, and a nice healthy rate as well. Jealous, I know...stop wasting your valuable work time spread rumors and gossiping and you too may be one of the lucky ones! HAHAHA!
No, you are a recruiter. I suppose that does

and I suppose they are HIPPA
compliant? Cannot wait for EMR.
Whole other can of worms...Illegal on company's side illegal, but (sm)
Retaliatory firing for contact with government oversight agency is illegal in all cases (Whistleblower's laws). It is hard, however, to prove retaliation because company can fire for breech of policy (working overtime when not approved, etc), can railroad you until you quit or they pick up enough nitpicky things to justify termination, or in most states for no reason at all (shaky if you've been to labor board). Whether reported or not, it opens a whole can of worms, and not everybody is going to be happy with the consequences (just look at the MQ saga). IMO solely, if OT is not specifically approved, don't work it. If you want to work it and not put it on your time, feel free (but that is fraudulent records if you're caught - again grounds for termination if anybody cares, which they usually won't unless under scrutiny by oversight agency). If you ask for and get approval beforehand, everybody's happy.
Are there a lot of people leaving MQ right now. Seems like that is all I see and I suppose many more
where they came from that dont come on here.
ok lets suppose you make
9 cpl - and I'll average that on 1200 lines a day, that amounts ot 13.50/hr. Thats not worth sitting in your chair for 8 hours now is it? 10 cpl - 15/hr. and I seriously doubt you make more than that. Thats a lot of busting butt for such a low wage. On a good platform with fair counting system an experienced MT should be able to type 2000 lines per day, thats with breaks, and going along at an even pace.
Suppose nobody will see this now since it's off main page. NM

If they point, I suppose she's young.

actually not MDI, but I suppose there are insensitive managers everywhere! nm

I suppose it depends on what accounts you are on
All of my accounts have been over loaded with work this past month. I'm currently doing 2500 lines a day. Maybe your friend should ask about getting more backup accounts added to her queue.
I suppose it is too much to ask. Sorry for trying to get impartial answers.
.
AND I SUPPOSE YOU GOT PAID ON TIME LAST PAY PERIOD? NM
X
Don't you suppose they realize that - have you asked for a backup? (sm)

I feel like I have sung this song before.

I suppose it depends on which accounts have openings. nm

Suppose it just adds to the hominess. One big happy

So what is the suggestion if all nationals are going to VR for these reduced rates. I suppose a lot
of people will just stop coming into this profession as I expect they already have and others will train for other jobs. No sure what the future holds thats for sure. Seems like no money so that will move a lot of people out of this. Who needs all the aggravation that we are given for no money.
Do you happen to know which companies HUP outsources to other than MQ. I suppose the best thing
would be to call HR but will they give out this information. Not sure who to call at these hospitals.
Seems a pretty selfish attitude ... I suppose you also choose sm
the work types you want to do and leave the cra* for everyone else.  If you don't want weekend work, type for a clinic.  Otherwise, you should pull your share of the load with the rest of us.
that is true about the bonus money, all works out in the end, I suppose. nm

Depends upon how your company counts things, I suppose. sm

I like both platforms.  Bayscribe is easy to use, and the Expander emulates PRD+, which I was used to.  The spellchecker is kind of clumsy -- that could definitely use some tweaking.  The thing I liked the most about Bayscribe was at the end of each report, you saw the line count for that report and how much you made, plus a total of lines for all reports and the total number of lines you had made for the day.

I am currently using ExText, and it is also easy to use.  I have to go to ichart to view my line count, though, and you cannot get it on a report-to-report basis.   The CTRL+I feature is useless to me since my employer does not count headers or footers.  I quit using it because I hated to see what a big difference there was at the end of the day.  I could do 300 lines per hour on Bayscribe.  With the current setup, maybe 250.  I can do 300 if I just sit and type as fast as I can with no breaks, but that cannot last for 8 hours solid.

Either platform is okay.  I still kinda miss WP51 -- think DOS-based programs were faster -- but you can't hold on to a dinosaur.  And, obviously that is just my opinion.  Hope it helps.

No argument about AHDI sucking an egg, but I suppose it is just personal sm

preference.  When I started transcribing 35 years ago or so, I had never heard of AAMT or anything like it, but the people in the Medical Records Department (which of course his now referred to as HIM -- why keep things the same if you can change them constantly for no rason) who transcribed the reports were called transcriptionists.  The machine I used to access the dictation was called a transcriber.

Of course, it is no big deal and I shouldn't get so hung up with labels.  I worked briefly for an Indian company (felt like I was sleeping with the enemy but that's another story), and they called us transcribers … ugh.

I suppose it probably varies with each account. My primary has been slow sm

since the holiday, but I am able to get my lines.  I'm hoping it picks up soon.

Hope this helps.

Aren't you a positive person? I suppose you work in the office at HIS. lol nm

I emailed also, but haven't heard back yet. I suppose it will take a while to go through everyth

great line rate? I suppose that rules out the beast
haha
The rest is silence? I suppose, really strange, never mind, I can get a list elsewhere...nm
nm
I suppose you have to write down the line count for every single document and it doesnt track them
for a total for the while day. That is what I was wondering.
