why did she feel the need to say that the business person was Arabian? If she was just talking about greedy business people, then why would his nationality matter?

No, it IS that they're greedy! These people want
ALL the accounts! At all costs! They think by 'dominating' the industry by taking as many accounts as they can get, that it makes them a better company. But how do they make a profit with those lowball bids? Off the backs of the MT.

I worked for SS and some people were very RUDE and I am talking about the editing people in some
instances.  It ALL depends on the person, as it does with any company.  They paid on time and the lady over me was very nice, but boy the person in QA was mean to EVERYONE!!  Never seen anything like it before.

Thank you! Most people in the business are busy and most have a number where they can be reached.
They put it out there for a reason. Sometimes it is impossible to get back with people that you have every intention to get back with and that's why you tell them that if for some reason you cannot get back to them, to call you back. I know I have been told that and I have followed through and usually they were very glad that I called them back. It has happened with a few companies. It is not that they do not care. It is that they are very busy with the current applicants because it is not that they just get just one application a day from MTs. Many companies get many applications a day and I don't know many companies that have multiple recruiters.
Why dont you "enlighten" us to why people job hop in this business. It couldnt be because we g
stiffed on our pay, lied to, mislead, underpaid, broken promises. Yes, there is a reason why people change jobs. You can only take so much. Is it a wonder that a lot of MT are burned out. Does anyone want to keep changing jobs?? No, it would be great to actually be able to make a living doing what we love the most at one company that follows through on promises. It does kind of take the wind of your sails when your dished out nothing but ........ all the time. So, that is why I stick up for Msla MT. There are more out there right with her.

but which are they? Keystrokes, TT? Are they mid size? That means better? I think it just depends on who you are, how much experience and what platform you end up getting and with accounts going here, there any everywhere, lots of luck.
Job allocation - helps to kiss up to the people in charge in this business.

My husband and his brother have a business with a small office that has 12 people in it.
I do the books for them. The electric bill is over $4000 every month. The lease is $5200. The phones are $3200. The list goes on and on with overhead, not including payroll, totally over $20,000 per month.

I respect that the company I work for has overhead and am grateful that THEY have to deal with it, not me. Otherwise, I would have started on my own.

I am presently working for another company and am somewhat satisfied.  Am considering Diskriter.  I do not want to make a wrong decision.  If you worked there and left, please let me know if you would be willing to give me some information (bad or good).  I know people hesitate to get into specifics on this forum - email me and I will contact you.  I am just so hesitant to make another change.
I was talking to the younger people on this board basically
because I am seeing where people are sitting here actually waiting for work to come in while they don’t have enough money for their bills, no money for food, no money to survive on. Why in the world if you are younger do you beat a dead horse so to speak because this profession is steadily going down as it is and if you don’t have money now, do you think over the next few years it is going to improve? I have worked most of my years in this business away from home. I had children but years ago we were not given the choice of working from home, imagine that! We probably then had more of a family life than what I read on this board now with people saying in order to squeak out a living they are working 24/7. I have probably worked more than most here but when I had jobs outsourced from underneath me I had no option to sit and wait for work to come my way. I went and found more. There is a simple solution but most here just seem to complain and do nothing except go right down the drain.

I agree with you. This What's in it for me attitude is disheartening. How many of us think of giving to or doing something FOR our employer? I am just grateful to have a job in this economy. That is my Christmas present.

And MTSOs don't have greedy CEOs??  Who pushes outsourcing, VR, MT pay cuts, etc?  Not the hospitals!  The AAMT, et.al. have been around a long time before the MT industry went sour.  And who is the greedy middleman who saw a fast buck to be made with MTs?  Not the hospitals. (Guess who the middleman who's making that buck is.)  Does it makes sense that hospitals would pay their other employees the going wage for their respective positions and have a hand in undercutting only the MTs.  They (hospitals) have no direct say in our salaries.  Sure, they will try to obtain the most cost-effective contracts, whether MT, cleaning personnel, cafeteria workers, etc.  Who wouldn't?  Do you hear their employees blaming the hospitals when they're not paid prime wage?  They're making top $$$.  Let's put blame where blame is due!


You state that if hospital CEOs weren't so greedy, the poor MTSOs could pay their MTs more.  DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT, IF THAT WERE THE CASE, THE MTSOs WOULD PASS ON THE EXTRA BUCKS TO THEIR MTs???  Really?  Don't you think they'd put it in their own greedy little pockets?? ( If you're not a MTSO yourself) ... think about what makes more sense!

I think some may be greedy, but many others are probably trying very hard to juggle variable workloads with variable staff.

I know. I am an MT now, but was an MTSO - it's not nearly as easy as people might think.

We have to remember not to paint them all with the same brush...
transcend used to be good but they got too greedy -
too many Indians, too much crappy voice recognition that is not even close, a horrible platform that has multiple problems, line counts that are always a hours to a day late (reminds me of another company where no matter what I did I could never get over 1000 lines over the required minimum counts), and the nastiest ROMs in the business. You can have your transcend.
So you DO expect something - even a card. GREEDY !!

Fortunately, not all companies are so greedy that they
use VR to cut the line rate for MTs. Hopefully these experienced MTs who make more money doing straight transcription rather than the pay cut that comes with VR will find a better company to work for. For those like you who apparently never made that much doing straight transcription & enjoy VR, then more power to you, but why freak out on those who don't want the pay cut? Let them find a company who isn't trying to screw over the MTs by cutting their line rate for the same amount of work.

Now that the greedy corporations who offshore
our work have driven down our wages, not to mention risking patient safety, it really makes me rethink/regret my career choice. This used to be a great job.

The one company I worked for literally bid 7 and 11 cpl for a VR account and were only paying the MTs 4 and 8. That is the real problem. These docs/hospitals want rock bottom rates and there are so many MTSOs out there competing for these accounts that they are bidding us all into the poor house. JM2

I also had a hard time, nearly impossible actually, getting paid. The owner does this on the side; he is very involved with other things.
It was not meant to be nasty. I meant that you should take every job seriously. Just because someo
is their focus does not mean that patients should suffer. 96% accuracy could mean the difference to someone who is on the receiving end of that report. I am NOT QA or management but I am an experienced Transcriptionist who believes that the reports we transcribe need to be accurate for the patient's sake.

People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check
after insurance deduction. Maybe your bank is holding it. Maybe anything! But we GOT PAID. This is NO LIE. And I am sick of this board. Nothing but disgruntled exemployees arguing with employees who like their job. Ugggg. I am working. BTW: THERE IS WORK (clears throat) remember that? Work?

Are people trying to scare people or just tell them what is happening. I am not scared just seeing
that things are changing very rapidly and not for the better for me. If I have no work and need multiple accounts everyone else is in the same boat now arent they that have my accounts. That is how people know what is going on.
Maybe due to the people that manage Amherst. I think MQ would be a lot better off finding new people
up there with all the problems you hear about that office. Seems like something is very very wrong there.

at Medquist. I've checked out other companies but I liked MQ the best (I kept working at MQ while testing other companies).
SO right! People who get paid to bring people on-board -sm
to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.
More people will come into VR because the qualifcations to do MT are not the same. Lots of people w
to work at home. It's all relative to what you are used to. The nationals are counting on this. I think MTs will work cheaper rather than reenter the work force with no other skills than MT. The nationals are counting on this.

need to keep from naming names.  I thought it was an informative bit of information, but when you name names, then posts are way out of line. 


I would really like to see a truly professional way of talking about a company.  I don't care what board you go to, somehow people just do not want to play nice when it comes to talking about people.  If those people could learn to be a little more professional and stop posting names to their wrath or anger, then that will be the day I can say I am proud to be in this profession.  When I see those types of things, it makes my skin crawl.  If it were me being talked about, I would be livid.  I certainly understand why the posts were deleted.
