There is not an EDIX side. It is one company Spheris.

Can someone offer anything good to say about EDIX side
of Spheris.  I really need this job, but I have heard some not so good things about EDIX side of Spheris.  Also, there are no recent posts regarding EDIX, so can someone offer up their good experience with them.  The last I read, they do not pay for spaces and dock for errors.  I am not looking for a fight on this board.  I just want someone's elses opininion on EDIX side of Spheris.  I really appreciate this and I thank you and god bless.
Spheris Edix side
Notice how you didn't get any responses? That's because there aren't any good things to say about Spheris.
Looking for the good, bad, and ugly for the editing side of Diskriter

I checked archives, but all i found was old and I know companies change often, and it was all the transcription side of things, so thought I would see if anyone had info on how it is to be an editor.  I have the info they pay hourly...how much per hour?

Thanks!!!

Thank you! I noticed that smart MTs with good grammar are on my side...nm

System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.

Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.

A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
Sounds like a good offer.
If it is high hourly with good benefits, but don't know the company.  Don't know of anywhere else offering such a good thing. Might be worth a try. Good luck!
IMO, they'll keep a handful of good MTs and offer...
them Editor positions to simply clean up the garbage that will come from their probably 90%+ Indian MT force. Does not take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Plain and simple, these companies are out for $$.
I'll get slammed for this, but I say all U.S. MT's should quit, leave them high and dry, and see how many of their clients dump them. If everyone could stand by their pride and do this, these outsourcing companies would flop. I do understand that there are those who have bills to pay (don't we all), but there are plently of companies out there who do not outsource. U.S. MTs need to accept the fact that in some situations where their company is outsourcing oversease, they are simply being used. Sad, but true. This is only my opinion.
Wow, nothing but good so far on this company. Gues if they offer me anything I will take it!
They sound like an amazing company to work for, especially the totally flexible schedule, which I would need, and the fact that they do not outsource. I sent them an e-mail asking them some questions, but I think I will go ahead and send them my resume as well. Thanks so much for all the info! It has really helped! One more question....do they offer direct deposit?
Does anyone know of any good companies that offer IC status and little ASR?
I'm working for MQ right now as flexible part-time but thinking I want to go back to IC status.  I just have this feeling that things aren't going to be as flexible as they used to be.  That and I'm sick of all the ASR and getting paid crap!  Most of my work is ASR, I'm getting way more lines, but my paycheck is smaller!?!?!  Need flexibility and a decent paycheck!  Any input would be great from anybody!  I've worked only for MQ for 8 years and wondering if there would be anything better out there!
Are there any GOOD companies that offer IC status (and no weekends?) ??

I would really like to work a Monday through Friday job.  Plus, I prefer IC status.   Probably an impossible combo...

Thanks!

Great company with good rate offer
nice people in the management too.
That's a pretty good offer. Does the line rate go up for over 175 lph? sm
Will you have VR thrown in there also?
That's strange. When I received an offer, I thought it was competitive and the benefits were good
especially medical insurance benefits for family. Maybe I did not look at them very close. Could you elaborate on what you were offered? I really thought they were decent pay and benefits.
Yep, I liked it better when it was Edix too.
z
Transcend will go the way of Edix
when they pulled the huge pay cut on their platform and struggled until the company was sold, MQ who had very innovative ways to cheat their employees and their customers and is in trouble. This is all about $$$ in their pocket - make a big profit early and then leave the company and let it fall apart.
I worked for them when they were Edix and
they were terrible to work for.  You couldn't even scratch your arse without them calling and asking why you weren't typing and I have heard that it has gotten worse since they became Spheris.
Spheris, did it used to be EDIX
nm
Spheris/Edix, sm
After working for this company for 6 months and not being able to achieve my normal line count, I started snooping if you will into their computer system and found MT line count and line count (not verbatim but like that). The mt line count was lower than the line count. Sure enough, every report was about 35% lower in that regard. Even a friend of mine saw the same decrease in her line count and we both could not figure it out. I asked my supe about and she said someone would get back to me. Guess what, no one ever did. We both quit.

You are just another victim of that company. Sorry!!!
Used to work for Edix - how is Spheris?

Hi,

Used to work for Edix.  How is Spheris?  Have been out of the field for a few years due to health issues.  Want to hear it all - good and bad.  Thanks,

Hopeful MT

That was me and Edix fired me due to chemo
.
The old Edix, before they put in the new platform, and before they were sold.
Team leaders were professional, they kept the team members informed of what was going on within the company, made sure the full time employees had enough work, and went the extra mile to provide samples for difficult dictators. It was as close to working in an office as you could get without actually being in an office. If they called you, there were no interruptions or background noise from family/animals, etc. Business was business. They were flexible. We got feedback monthly on our performance. After they changed platforms, everything changed and information was top secret so we were treated like mushrooms. I think most of the good team leaders left at that time, too.
That might have worked when co was still Edix, things are different
z
Edix versus Spheris
I worked for Edix a number of years ago, but I never worked for Spheris after Spheris bought out Edix.  Is there anyone who worked for Edix and did not leave when Edix was sold who could tell me what changes were made and if they are worth working for.  I saw some posts below about not being able to make the line count for the day.  Is this a sign that things are not good with Spheris?
Is Edix former management at Transcend?
nm
Oh, yeah, I still do have the Edix cookbook...
and yeah, I do remember a cookie jar; I believe that went to the local thrift store. Yep, former Edix employee.
when I worked at Edix ... (now spheris) (sm)

when they were trying to get more hospital accounts within a system, they would promise them the moon and assign an absurd number of MT's to my accounts ... so that I got virtually NO work on my regular accounts and had to ask for more accounts -- which became time consuming and more importantly NERVE WRACKING to work on so many relatively new accounts all at once -- again -- some of which I got very little work on .... (very different from really learning one or two accts, adding another -- learning that -- then adding another -- truly I was a wreck -- oh and my line count truly sucked -- so when I saw there was an opening at a local MTSO, I lept ... I was stressed out and making no money ... and I had been on these teaching hospital accounts (my favorite) for over 5 years ... sad)

That's what the message above about accounts up for renewal (as in contracts) meant ... in my case, Edix hoped to get more hospitals in this national chain (most national hospital chains, I think, use more than one service so that if something happens they aren't completely left in a lurch) -- at the time I left probably almost 10 years ago, Edix also had a VERY unstable platform that was down a great deal ... trust me -- it was hell

Sounds like they haven't changed much since they were Edix.
That was the biggest waste of time for me. I literally would be at my desk on and off for 12 hours to try to get 8 hours of work. We got the same excuse, holiday slowdown. BS is right! Hello! Halloween is not a holiday that people take off and vacation for. They were sending as much of that work to India as they could. Of course they asked us for a list of the worst dictators on our account, which we foolishly provided. A few weeks later, that is all I would get, the worst of the worst. They sent the best dictators to India, and we had to fight for the scraps of crap that was left. Get out, get out now, don't wait. Best thing I did was quit that job. It will suck you dry, monetarily and emotionally.
I can certainly remember Edix and the change to Spheris....
Hi Miss Willy..I certainly remember the Edix days. I LOVED Edix and haven't found a company that truly yet matches what they were and how much they appreciated their MTs. I stayed through the switch, unfortunately, and then left just a little bit later. Spherix really was not the best place to be. Maybe it was because of the changes, but I really disliked it and had to get away. Probably should be grateful that we are both out of there, because they are a global company now.
I left EDiX/Spheris after 8 years there to come to Webmedx. SM
I moved over here in 2003 because I knew the recruiter and she told me it was a great place to work. She was right. The benefits are fair, the work plentiful, the bosses fantastic, and the QA staff wonderful. Good luck!
I have worked for MQ, Spheris back when it was Edix, Transcend and OSI. TransTech is by far the bes
The pay is decent, probably not the highest in the business but not the lowest either. The benefits are good. Pay is always on time. Great bonuses. Great communication and most of all I really like the people and it makes me enjoy being an MT again.
EDiX ...hated the platform, absent mgmt, no support.
........................................
EDiX--hand's down. A 4-letter, totally dysfunctional outfit. nm
/
If you made a graph of all the things taken away by Edix/Speris in the last 5 years.....
You would be shocked, although it has been 6 years since it started.....

first charging for errors, about 6 years ago (they stopped that), then insurance changed for the worst, regrading hospitals to their advantage so you would make at least 200. to 300 less a pay period, the list is long, long, long. I can go back 6 years up to 2 years ago when I finally left.
Thanks to all of you who see my side!
Thought I might be fighting this battle on my own. I'm glad to see that there are people who feel that posters should be responsible for proving negative accusations. Thanks!
MDI side
I agree...and I even like AIM also. There are much worse places to work, BTDT!!
yes..you are on his side, because besides--sm
not sending the money he owes his MT in the first place, he is taking more of it away from what she earned by charging her to send money he refused to send in the first place. It comes down to *fault*, not capitalizm. He was the one that was wrong. she did not ASK him to overnight the check, so why should she pay for it? If he had paid on time, there would be no issue. Greed is not the way to do business...and you wanting to add a surcharge on top of a $25 overnight fee, puts you in that category, as well. JMO
I'm sure I'm ont he other side
I've always been paid every other Friday the whole year that I have been there, so that must be why I, along with a ton of other people, never got that message. I also never got the e-mail about the insurance benefits, but I don't get them, so it doesn't matter to me at all.javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
The other side of it . . .
what's the harm in stating their preference. The schedule cannot be enforced but maybe the days and times posted is when the work is available.
Think about the other side

Its nice to say you could never work for an MTSO that only uses US based MTs. But what if that MTSO is told by its large clients that they will use a different service if they don't reduce costs. Would you rather the MTSO drop the cpl you get or would you prefer they use offshore help to reduce the overall price but keep your CLP the same?

Seems to me that the MTSO that works to keep your CPL is looking out for you.

what is the GT side?? nm

I'm on your side, 34
I was actually just trying to make a joke of a situation that has caused me grief for a long time now. I have been doing this 28 years (if you want to factor in all of my late-night moonlighting jobs, probably 40 years!!). I have seen this profession go from in-house, Selectric II typewriters, WordPerfect 5.1, and desktop tape transcribers to everything you need wrapped up in a nice little computer and INET voice files and the ability to work in your jammies. Over 25 years of experience and here I sit and can't find a job. Well, let's back up... I was offered a couple of 7 cent a line jobs and one 8.5 but I had to work graveyard shift and weekends with my choice of IC or employee. I forgot to mention the 40% ESL rate. There is always something that makes me feel like I'm getting the shaft. I know there are good accounts out there. Who is doing them? I'm too freakin' old for this!!! I feel like beatin' someone with my cane, ha ha. I like to keep it light because I don't want to get irritable bowel syndrome over it... but, come on... something's gotta' give here.
I don't like the CM side at all (sm)
The platform is lousy compared to Enterprise. The staff is different (brought in from elsewhere) and has a very different culture than the rest of Webmedx. I would not recommend anybody work on the Chartmatrix platform, especially if you have a choice between Enterprise and Chartmatrix!
I know I would too, and by my side would be

One side of WMX is on this.............
And supposedly, according to the example we were given today, production should increase considerably, but I doubt it will be enough to compensate for the cut in pay. There is a limit to the amount of work a person can crank out in a day.
Then there is the other side of the fence .....
This is the direct opposite of a cheerleader.  This is a person who belittle any and all conversations/questions about a company.  They try to steer newbies away from the company by slandering them and bashing them, sometimes with not so factual comments.  There is a fine line to walk and it is hard to determine who is who sometimes.  Best to use your judgment.
Why don't you just jump over to MDI side!
You think Transcend is bad, honey work a week with MDI and then let's compare jelly beans.
do any of you do something extra on the side
My hands kill me just about every day now, and looking at my hands i have muscle breakdown and twitching, so i'd like to cut down on typing.  Want to find something to do on the side to earn maybe 1000 to 1500 dollars a month.  Was thinking about ebay, but i'm doubtful I could make that much, even though they hype up the advertisement by saying you could make 3000 MINIMUM.  I'm just desperate and feel like my hands are about to fall off.  I've spent close to 1000$ this year alone in keyboards, gloves, splints, doc visits, meds, changed my station around, hot soaks, cold soaks, exercises, stretches, vitamins. still my hands just sing every day esp at night.  So any extra money earning ideas you guys?  thanks
Flip side
I will have NO trouble doing that. My problem is I need to work more than 40 hours. If no more SE, I will be restricted to 40 hours/week.
More on the bright side

As a career MT who got sick of being jerked around by MQ, I've had my resume and online applications through this site out there for less than a week.  My emails are piling up, my phone rings with interviews, I've had six job offers to seriously consider, none of which were offering less than 9 cpl.  That's not counting the ones that were offering less than that, which I had no hesitation in declining.  Since I'm also holding out for a job in which I feel I'll be happy, and get the specialty areas my little heart desires, I've been really surprised and pleased at the responses.

I've actually already accepted a new job (with MDI-MD), but the offers still keep coming in, and one lady went so far as to tell me they'd match MDI and top it, if I'd come work for her instead.  Whew!  Heady stuff!  I could get a serious God Complex here if I don't watch out

Just as an addendum, I refused the offer above, because my interview with the gal at MDI was so terrific, I think I'll be really happy working for them, and after 19 years and facing burnout (thank you, MQ), that's as important to me as the money.

Actually, I was on the Merit side.
Now I work for a company using Dictaphone, and I'm happy.
Look at the bright side.
At least they won't all need plane tickets to Hawaii at the company's expense. If you're so miserable, QUIT!!!
