If I were you I would go to the ER.. Blood
in the urine is an indication that the kidneys are involved.
Or was it from your period?
How can you stand the pain in your inflamed urethra and ureter?
yes, they do do lab work on the blood, --sm
as well, and those results would be available within a very short period of time. Maybe you should continue your studies in the forensic pathology area, if that is what interests you.
I can as have had low blood pressure in the
past and you can feel extremely fatigued, you can have dizziness from it running too low. When mine would run extremely low, say 80/60 or so, I used black licorce as this I found out years ago will elevate blood pressure. So tired with it, that I know.
blood tests
HIV...period...
You might want to get some blood work
A lot of time women have thyroid problems, and this can cause you to feel tired, very disinterested in sex, cannot lose weight et cetera, or there may be a hormonal imbalance that can also cause this. I would recommend talking to your doctor or gynecologist and get them to write a script for some lab work.
taste of blood.....
yea alot of people say that. I have heard it numerous times, but then I see shelters take in hard core fighting dogs & turn them into loving pets & working dogs for the community such as lawdogsusa.org so I believe this is a myth.
Gee, didn't mean it was NOT in the blood but stating that it would have
shown in the autopsy quite quickly in the organs, as that is what I thought the original poster had inquired about.

Point out he can get a blood infection and die - sm
if he does not get his teeth taken care of. He must have some rotten breath too, yuk. Guess you don't do much kissing either. I went out on 1 date with a guy with bad teeth, gross, I did not want to kiss him goodnight and barely did, never dated him again because I was so grossed out.
Have your blood sugar checked! I'd nod off (sm)
to the point that my nose would actually touch the keyboard!! While funny, it was also a symptom.  I had undiagnosed diabetes and would just "poop" out when my blood sugar was too low (or even too high!).  According to my doctor there's more undiagnosed diabetes out there than you'd believe!
Check the blood pressure often, have my own
cuff and last check was 106/70 something and no headache at all. Was thinking yesterday wonder what the wait would be going to the emergency room, that bad. The last visit to an ER was about a year ago and I spent the entire night waiting to be seen, was admitted the next morning. I am not 1 just to go to be going, has to be really severe.
New cause for blood pressure increase sm

Typed in a report today:  His blood pressure is 160/100, however, he attributes this to his wife's driving.

Typical male remark, LOL.

Blood pressure - when to be alarmed

Hey, folks.  Need your opinions if you don't mind.  How high should bp be before one becomes alarmed, and what is a reasonable expectation of your doctor's response when you visit him/her with an elevated bp?  Should we be concerned if bp is above:

A. 120/80

B. 130/90

C. 140/95

This isn't a quiz, not really.  I am just wondering for myself personally.  Also, let's throw in that the pt had been under a significant amount of stress over the last few months which is now lessened pretty much to 'normal', and that the patient also has had a couple of migraines in the last couple of weeks prior to the bp shooting up - with no hx of migraines.

Appreciate the opinions.

Sincerely,

A paranoid hypochondriac HC

Cord blood banks
Does anyone know of a reputable blood bank where new mom's can store their baby's cord blood?  Also, the procedure for doing this?  Thanks for your help.
JAN--A SISTER-IN-LAW IS NOT A BLOOD RELATIVE.
Did that tell her?
Have you ever had your blood sugar suddenly

I was just wondering, because I think that's what happened to me today just as I was finishing up with getting a little exercise this afternoon.  Usually a piece of meat or cheese and I'm completely normal again, but this time it's much slower to go away.   Just as I was about to call it a day anyway, I suddenly got very weak-feeling and slightly nauseous, & a little light-headed.  Sat down until it passed, then skipped going to the market afterward, like I'd planned, and came home.  While driving home I was sweating so much that in about 10 minutes I was soaked.  I came inside, had some cheese and some slices of chicken, then lay down, using a big bath towel as a blanket since that's what was handy.  Soon that was soaked, too.  Felt better about 30 minutes later, took a hot shower and had some dinner.  Now I'm almost back at baseline.  I've had similar spells very occasionally in the past, but they always cleared up within minutes of having either some protein or a banana.   Does that sound like a hypoglycemic episode to you?  I'm not diabetic, in fairly good shape, not overweight, and do tend to eat a lot of sweets.

This little smiley shows how quickly it comes on, and how it feels!

transferred two units of blood
what did she type
Should be "transfused 2 units of blood."

Where would you be transferring it from??  It's being transfused into the body.

how many of you have high blood pressure

..and do you have it under control??? Do you think it runs in family's.

Mine is still not where it should be but better than it was. I do think it runs in family's. My mom is a little bitty woman and has uncontrollable blood pressure. All 4 of us kids has high blood pressure. My mom, myself and my brother have all had strokes. My brother has had 2. My older brother tends to get nose bleeds and has to have his nose packed. My younger sister has just started experiencing problems with her blood pressure. My dad on the other hand has low blood pressure and will drop to quickly.

Anyone every break a blood vessel in their eye. I just did and it looks awful. nm
:
could be broken blood vessel, often called

soccer kicker's toe, football kicker's toe, etc.  RICE is the treatment for it.  It looks worse than it actually is.  (RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation.)

Donated blood today, as I have done many times before. sm
Today, however, while sitting in the cantina having a snack afterwards I felt so TIRED and short of breath.  We left and went to the grocery store and by the time I got into the store I thought I was going to pass out, gave my daughter the list and went back to sit in the car.  What gives?  I have donated blood before and haven't felt bad afterwards.  Now I am working and GOD I feel like crap.
I gave blood yesterday too, they told me not to - sm
do any excessive exercise or a day, drink plenty of fluids and not to skip any meals. Have you done any of that? Is it overly hot where you are? Call your doctor and speak to a nurse or leave a message for him to call you and see what they suggest. In the meantime I would rest, have some soup and plenty of fluids. I hope you feel better soon. Been around anyone sick lately, could just be that and not anything to do with giving blood unless you happen to be anemic and do not know it.
You snip them off yourself, with scissors? Does it not HURT? Isn't there a lot of blood? sm
Sorry for my response - you shocked me. I was hoping for responses, but never expected one like this. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');

My daughter mentioned True Blood before
but I told her no way. She's only 14. I heard about the series, but I haven't had a chance to watch it. If I had a moment to read, I'd like to read the Twilight books myself, but I just can't seem to find a minute to do any reading. My daughter is going on Friday with her Twilight school group and then again on Saturday.
True Blood, The Office, Big Love...

I loved The Riches on FX, but it isn't coming back. That's about it. I still watch The Sopranos and SATC DVDs all the time, got the box set of each, great to work out on the elliptical or treadmill to.

Need opinion on blood thinner experience sm
Have someone in hospital on the drip, but will come home in a few days with the pill form. She says "no dietary restrictions" and I am worried. You know how this profession is with the so-called "little knowledge" which is damaging. I've worked for many hospitals and have heard a lot in my day, but I am just an "in-law" and not considered "family" by her. I want to be helpful but nor buttinski, so I just say to be sure to speak to the doctor and perhaps a nutritionist before she leaves for home. Am I worrying needlessly? Just need another's opinion with this problem. For now, I am just shutting up. I really do care. She is lucky to be alive IMHO, don't want her to suffer anymore than she already has, legs to lungs, filter required. I know the warfarin is a very slippery slope and heard things like garlic and vitamin K cause problems. I know blood checks are a must. Perhaps I should just shut up and listen and mind my own business.
I would type, "transferred 2 units of blood."

Seem to be having a problem with a blood vessel breaking in eye. I do rub them a lot and sneeze
with allergies.  Never had this problem before.  Dont have high bp or dibabetes.  Always something.
Not to mention blood clots and pulmonary embolism

Been there - done that.

The Stink in Farts Controls Blood Pressure...

A smelly rotten-egg gas in farts controls blood pressure in mice, a new study finds.

The unpleasant aroma of the gas, called hydrogen sulfide (H2S), can be a little too familiar, as it is expelled by bacteria living in the human colon and eventually makes its way, well, out.

The new research found that cells lining mice's blood vessels naturally make the gas and this action can help keep the rodents' blood pressure low by relaxing the blood vessels to prevent hypertension (high blood pressure). This gas is "no doubt" produced in cells lining human blood vessels too, the researchers said.

"Now that we know hydrogen sulfide's role in regulating blood pressure, it may be possible to design drug therapies that enhance its formation as an alternative to the current methods of treatment for hypertension," said Johns Hopkins neuroscientist Solomon H. Snyder, M.D., a co-author of the study detailed in the Oct. 24th issue of the journal Science.

Snyder and his colleagues compared normal mice to mice that were missing a gene for an enzyme known as CSE, long suspected as being responsible for making hydrogen sulfide. As they measured hydrogen sulfide levels taken from tissues of the CSE-deficient mice, the scientists found that the gas was depleted in the cardiovascular systems of the altered mice. By contrast, normal mice had higher levels of the gas, thereby showing that hydrogen sulfide is naturally made by mammalian tissues using CSE.

Next, the mice were subjected to higher blood pressures comparable to serious hypertension in humans. Scientists had them respond to a chemical called methacholine that relaxes normal blood vessels. The blood vessels of the CSE-lacking mice hardly relaxed, indicating that hydrogen sulfide is a huge contender for regulating blood pressure.

Hydrogen sulfide is the most recently discovered member of a family of gasotransmitters, small molecules inside our bodies with important physiological functions.

This study is the first to reveal that the CSE enzyme that triggers hydrogen sulfide is activated itself in the same way as other enzymes when they trigger their respective gasotransmitter, such as a nitric oxide-forming enzyme that also regulates blood pressure, Dr. Snyder said.

Because gasotransmitters are common in mammals all over the evolutionary tree, these findings on the importance of hydrogen sulfide are thought to have broad applications to human diseases, such as diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases.

The research was supported by grants from the U.S. Public Health Service and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research as well as a Research Scientist Award.

I had my child's cord blood banked eight years ago

This was much more costly way back then.  I compared many companies and finally decided on CBR (Cord Blood Registry).  They are definitely the most reputable.  The originating fee was $1200 and the maintenance fee is $95 per year.  The procedure itself is virtually effortless.  You are first sent a kit which you provide to your physician.  At the time of your child's birth, three large tubes are filled with the blood from the umbilical cord.  My doctor was more than willing to perform this simple step at the time of my child's birth.  Then, after collection, the kit is sent via courier to a deep freezer (I think mine is in Arizona).

This is such an exciting prospect.  Talk about life/health insurance.  Just imagine what can be done with these cells many, many years from now.  Will my child never have to develop cancer?  Could a spinal cord injury be reversed?  Could he be cloned?  Just imagine the possibilities.

Truthfully, eight years ago was an eternity in this business of cord blood banking.  I feel it is truly cutting-edge technology.  Yes, it was costly, but when I think about the truly invaluable possibilities, I felt compelled to have this done.  Now, it is much more affordable than it was back in the beginning stages of this technology.  This is even much more valuable when siblings are involved.  I, however, only have the one child.

I don't know of anyone else who has done this, at least not in my circle.  With my medical background, there was just no way I could not do it.  Sorry I got so lengthy about this, but I am a huge advocate of this concept.

Can anyone tell Jan a sister-in-law is not family as far as blood relative, my goodness!
Her children, the children of my brother, would have been heirs BUT Jan, you need to understand TVA which is a huge place, never found them and took a year trying to do so. I never knew this money was there, never had anything to do with obtaining the money up front, nothing. TVA contacted me. I had to get death certificates which I was questioned about being as it was my stepmom and the dept wanted to know WHY I wanted that. I got her death certificate, the death certificate of my brother, the names- do you realize that I had to have this all notarized as to telling the truth. I do not now nor have I in the past years since 1973 had AN ADDRESS FOR THE SIL AND HER CHILDREN, MY NIECE AND NEPHEW. This has been 36 YEARS AND NO ADDRESSES. If the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) could not find, how was I supposed to find? You want me to hire a detective on my MT salary and go hunting is that right? You want me to take off from work and go to another state and look for someone when I have NO ADDRESSES in 36 YEARS and I might find? I probably would not have a job when I got back as even taking off long enough for a doctor's appt is frowned upon but you want me just to leave my home and look for persons I have no contact with. Do you understand how you sound? Why can you not get off this soap box and put more attention on your own affairs, that is the money your sister is getting off your mother. I understand where you are coming from but this has been settled now at least 3-4 years. I have stolen from no one. I did get 1 phone call after my father's funeral (remember those same kids you have said I stole from that did not show up at the funeral home nor funeral, they must have really cared about their g'father) and after about a week the SIL called to see what kind of money had been left to her son, my nephew. She was able to call because he wanted to see what he had coming to him. Don't give a flip about g'father, only the money he might have for you. None was there then. Take a rest, ok?
Hibh blood pressure is a killer if not under control
My husband was on dialysis for nothing more than elevated blood pressure that was not under control, killed his kidneys. If not controlled on medications you have now, should get under better control and also do things to help it as well, that being avoiding as much salt as possible in the diet, weight loss to lower blood pressure if overweight, anything to get it under control.
Anyone ever get any of those tiny little red spots on face that look like little blood vessel bursts
but they are flat.  What can you do about that.
Mix in some spinach, kale, or broccoli to cut the effect of carrots on your blood
s
Yeah, the True Blood series is basically like soft porn...
definitely not advisable for a 14 year old!!!
Use beans to stabilze blood sugar, yams, brown and wild rice, hearty
